Hello! I saw you were wanting interaction/a distraction? Have any interests you like to talk about? (P.s. your fic is amazing! I didn't know a FNAF/Subnautica AU is something I so desperately needed, but here we are lol)
oh i have a few that sticks with me no matter where i go
rain world is one!!!!! when i first played it i stayed in the same like 3 rooms for several i days. something about being a little creature trying to survive scratched some itch so hard that i just never explored outside of those rooms for that long
i also did have minor thoughts about dca in rain world lol. the 2 of them would be iterators but its soort of like a five pebbles & looks to the moon (<-theres already a moon in this game! i want to hug her) sort of situation but sun is not responsible for moon like 5p was to lttm. moon left his can and is free to explore but hes cut off from communications and his overseers. sun is in good condition all things considered but hes consumed by A Lot of thoughts and anxiety over not being able to contact moon
theres also oneshot the game!!!!!!! niko my beloved child. its such a good game. i want to hug niko so bad. sorry you had to go through All Of That
and also pokemon! ive stopped paying attention after alola (legends arceus not included) so i cant really talk about the new regions. b2w2 was a good game though i love the 2d/limited 3d graphics. bring them back. stop being 3d. i wish they kept the following pokemon feature from hgss i would love that. ive attempted several nuzlockes but never completed any but my current attempt is a soul link with my friend. we've gotten pretty far without too many casualties so im feeling good about that attempt

Hello! First off, I just want to say I love your blog!! I have a glass enclosure for my red tail boa and the inside of the glass is dirty from water droplets and it's gotten hard to see inside the tank. What is a good cleaner to use on glass that is safe for snakes? I plan to do a complete takedown and reset of the enclosure before I put her back in it. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you!
Thank you! :D And a 25% vinegar 75% water mixture is excellent for removing hard water stains. You can also take a plain razorblade to it to scrape it off :)

Hello! I recently adopted a beautiful red tail boa and I wondered if you could give any tips? This is my first reptile and I want to make sure that my noodle lives a long and healthy life. I've done some research and have the temps and humidity levels where they should be and also constant access to fresh water, but I wanted to ask someone who has experience if there are any other things or quirks I might need to know. Also, your blog is amazing!
Hi! Firstly, congrats on your new friend! And thank you, I’m glad you enjoy the blog :)
Unfortunately I have never owned a boa, so I’m afraid I  can’t offer species-specific advice. I plan on getting one in the next couple years, but it’s probably safe to say you’ve done more research on them than I have at this point. I can, however, give you a few tips on general first-time snake keeping, and then hopefully some of my followers or other reptiblr folks who own boas can chime in and help you on that front.
So for starters, you’ll want to make sure you have the proper tools to care for your new baby. Things like heating are brought up in any caresheet, but I think most skip over what tools you should be using to measure heat/humidity/etc. You may have already found this info in your research, but I’ll go over it just to be sure. Pet store dials are not reliable for measuring anything. A digital thermometer/hydrometer will be a better way to go. I personally use Acurite models, and I know a few others here do, to measure ambient temp and humidity. For surface temps, you’ll need a temp gun. They can be found on amazon or at hardware stores, usually between $15-20 for a decent model. They’re very important so that you know what your hotspot temps are. Air temps are important, but they won’t tell you how hot the thing your snake is sitting on is. WMSS has a good write-up on this subject. In fact, you may want to check out her resource page anyway. There’s more info there than I could cover in a single ask, and while she specializes in ball python care, a few of those write-ups can apply to basic snake care. (The linked one has info pertaining to bps, so disregard the actual temperature info given... but it describes what you should be looking for in your temps and why, which is useful for any species).
Next, take your time in handling the snake. The first week at minimum should be hands-off, of course, but after that, don’t immediately start handling every day. Especially if it is a young snake. Be calm and gentle and start slowly, to avoid as much stress on the animal as possible. It can be very hard to resist hanging out with your new pet! I think most reptile owners can attest to that. But it will be better for the animal to be gradual about it.
Make sure you find a vet that can see your pet! Ideally you want to do that now, rather than wait until you actually need the vet. Search for vets who work with herps in your area. Contact them to be sure. If it’s possible, try to speak with more than one clinic. I really hate calling and talking to people, but it’s worth it to make sure you are confident and comfortable with your choice in vets. Of course not all places have enough vet options to shop around like that, but if you do, don’t settle on the first one just because they say they can treat your animal. Do some research on the clinic and the staff. Make sure you have a plan for how to transport your animal - I bring mine in small sterilite bins. Make sure you can transport them at all; for many people, a specialized exotic vet won’t be found in the backyard and may require a longer drive. My cat’s vet is down the road; my reptiles’ vet is about an hour away. Try to think of any logistic details like that way ahead of time, whenever possible. Standard checkups might not be very stressful, but if there is ever an emergency, you want to make sure you’ve got the details sorted so there’s less to worry about!
Security! Some snakes are escape artists. You’ll want to make sure your noodle can’t get out of their enclosure somehow. Don’t underestimate them because some of them are terribly sneaky. And they will test you. Even if you give them all the enrichment in the world, they will still try to figure out how far they can go, and this will lead to checking out every corner and weak spot in the enclosure. It is really not fun to find your snake is missing. My favorite security measure is child locks. The kind you use for toddlers who would get into every cabinet and drawer if you let them. They’re inexpensive and they work extremely well in keeping things closed! They do work better on some kinds of enclosures than others... I’ve used them on glass tanks and on my AP cages. I have bungee straps keeping the tub for my bredli closed tight, because the lid is shaped funny and the kid locks don’t fit. There are plenty of methods of keeping cages locked, and it will come down to personal preference. But it’s better to have “too much” (no such thing) than not enough. Also, besides keeping snakes in, the security will better keep other things out, such as curious cats or dogs, or kids, etc. My cat has never tried to actually get into any of my enclosures, but she does like looking in the planted ones sometimes, and it’s important for me to know that she couldn’t get in if she ever tried.
And the last point I’m going to bring up in this particular post is: enrichment. If you spend any time in the reptiblr community, you probably are familiar with this. But I like to include it, just to be sure! I don’t know much about the activity or behaviors of boas, so I can’t really give any examples of enrichment that’s ideal for the species. But you’ll want to provide them with opportunities to express natural behaviors and instincts, whether that’s climbing, digging, etc. As long as the things you put in the tank won’t cause injury or distress, I don’t think you can really go overboard here.
I hope some of this has helped or given you some ideas. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more specific! I’ve held an adult boa once and have seen many babies at expos but that’s about my extent of experience with them lol. But I know a few of my followers have boas, so hopefully someone can give you more to work with.
Good luck to you and your new snake! I hope you have many happy years together

Hello! My name is Amelia. I’m a 25 year old asexual, aromantic, and agendered(?) individual. I go by she/her or they/them. (Idk if I’m agender or nonbinary)
I live in Kansas with my cat, snake, and fish. I’m interested in literally everything, especially crafty stuff. My favorite TV shows are steven universe and Lucifer. I like all kinds of music except newer country and rap.
I’m looking for friends (or maybe even a relationship). I’ve only met one other ace person and hope to meet them irl soon! Hopefully I can meet many more people like me!!

Do you think pearl could have belonged to pink diamond? In back to the barn, peridot calls pearl "fancy". All the pearls we have seen so far look similar to the diamond they belong to, and the mural of pink diamond looks very much like our pearl. I hope they give us her backstory soon! P.S. I love your blog!
Yea, I think that’s entirely possible (and has been one of my favorite headcanons of Pearl’s origin, tbh). We know she was a member of Pink Diamond’s court, since her spacesuit has a pink diamond on it

Pearl being Pink Diamond’s Pearl, and Rose Quartz being one of Pink Diamond’s quartz soldiers, would put them in position to meet

awesomebookwormuniverse replied to your post “Hello! I recently adopted a beautiful red tail boa and I wondered if...”
Thank you so much for the advice! It helps a lot. Any knowledge is good because all I want is a happy noodle that will keep me company for a long time. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question
Of course! I’m always happy to offer what help I can. And if you have any other questions, feel free to ask anytime. I may only be able to help on the general snake keeping stuff, but if I don’t have an answer, I am happy to point you (or anyone else!) in the direction of someone who might. Reptiblr is full of helpful keepers with a lot of good info!
Also, if you have any pictures, I’d love to see the new baby! If you don’t mind sharing, of course :) I always love to see everyone else’s pets.
