I see a whole bunch of people arguing that they would rather risk giving to a scammer than ignore someone's gofundme. I also see people saying things like "I can't believe some sick people are profiteering off genocide" and like, me neither, but I feel like you guys really don't understand who actually runs these kinds of scams and what they are.

Scams of noticeable scale-- like scam asks being sent from hundreds of accounts to every user on Tumblr!-- are typically related to organised crime in poor countries, not Susan from Milwaukee who wants a new coat and has no scruples. People get trafficked by gangs to scam farms in Asia and Africa where they're worked to the bone and tortured trying to get idiots in wealthy countries to part with their money. Genocide profiteering is pretty much the least evil thing these people do.

Here's a UN article on it. Obvious warnings for content related to human trafficking and SA.

When you donate to a scammer, you fund these organisations and give them a reason to exist. It's possible some of the fundraisers are legit. I honestly find it unlikely given I'm not seeing any from any other countries where urgent fundraisers would seem to have great reason to exist but which haven't captured the same level of attention on Tumblr-- the number of Sudanese, Congolese, Ukrainian, Burmese or Uyghur fundraisers in my DMs is a fat 0. In any case, there are safer ways to help.

If you want to help (which is great!) you don't have to take the risk of paying for human trafficking. Donate to legitimate charities which have the resources to safely and effectively ensure the money and help is getting to the right people. Funding human trafficking rings in Myanmar is not a good risk to be taking while trying to help.

Notes: Y'all, I got my nose and upper ear pierced recently so why not write a fic about it? I apologize if its rushed and if the boys are Ooc and for any typos

Bakugo:

"Do you think Bakugo will like it?" You ask Mina, walking into the dorms. Mina gives you a reassuring smile.

"Of course he will, he's your boyfriend after all!" You nod feeling anxious to show him. "But my Ex-boyfriend hated my ear piercing, what if Bakugo doesn't like this one?" You grasp her arm in attempt to calm yourself down.

Your last relationship was your first, and it was great till you got piercings. He didn't like the idea of them or tattoos, preferring you kept your face/body clean. But you refused to take them out and he broke up with you a few weeks before coming to UA.

"Stop worrying babes, I know he'll love it!" She pats your arm, her frizzly pink hair bouncing as she walks beside you. You nod, your lip raw from you chewing on it anxiously.

"Hey guys!" Mina waves to Denki and Kirishima. "Guess what we did while we were at the mall!" She squeals. You face felt hot as your classmates turned their attention to you and Mina.

"Wow Y/n, did you get your nose pierced?" Kirishima looks at your nose with fascination, Denki doing the same.

"Yes I did!" You smile and turn to face them, the orange stud sitting perfectly in your nose.

"That's awesome! Did it hurt?" Denki went to touch it but you stopped him. "Just a little, and you can't touch it otherwise it'll get infected." You give him a small smile.

"Did you get it in orange for Bakubro?" Kirishima smirks at you, your face flushes with embarrassment.

"Maybe..."

"Get me for what?!?" Bakugo pushes past your classmates and stands next to Kirishima. "What are you dumb extras goin' on about?"

"Look for yourself Bro." Kirishima grins and points to you and your new piercing. Bakugo rolls his eyes with a tsk and walks closer to you.

He approached you, you could feel his breath on your face, as his calloused hand grabbing your chin gently while he inspects the small piece of jewelry. You could feel your heart in your throat, your face buzzing with a rose tink. You've never gotten used to this feeling, the feeling of him being so close to you, the feeling of excitement when he hugs you or brings you closer to him; its unreal to you.

Bakugo looks up from the piercing and into your big eyes. You hold his eyes for as long as you can before it's too much for you, your eyes averting to his facial features instead.

He lets out a grunt while grabbing your hand and practically dragging you towards his room. You stomach was in knots as you followed.

Was he gonna break up with you?

You gasp, your back pressed against the door of his room, he plants his right hand next to your head, and the left holds your face. You look up at him, his eyes are are slanted as he looks down at you a lazy grins across his face.

"Why didn't ya say anythin' princess?" He hums moving your hair out of your face.

"I wanted to surprise you" You smile shyly. "And it seems you were surprised".

He stares at you a little longer, watching the way you subconsciously move closer to him. Your pretty doe eyes look up at him with such Innocences, it makes his heart leap.

But he can't ignore the feelings of hunger creeping up on him, wanting to touch you all over, to mark you as his. But he doesn't have to worry so much anymore, the bright orange stud is enough for everyone to know you are his and only his.

He pulls you close by the waist, his hand firmly gripping your hip as his other hand opens his door.

He surely did like it and he made sure to show you how much he did.

Kirishima:

"1!"

Your nose stung and burned as she pushes the needle through the cartilage of your nose. You gripped the chair in pain, your eyes squeezed closed. Small tears pooled in the corner of your eyes before falling down your cheeks.

"Y/n? Are you alright?" Kirishima asked nervously watching the blood pool out of your nose. You gave a nod and a thumbs up.

"Are you sure babe?" He asked once again, your face twisting in pain while she wiggled the piercing into the small hole, pushing against your nose hard.

"Y-Yep! I'm good!" You reassure him once the piercing is in. The piecer dabs a tissue on your cheek once you open your eyes, allowing the remaining tears fall.

"Sorry Hun, the jewelry wouldn't go in, but you're all good now." She smiled and cleaned up the needle and bloody tissues.

"Okeydokey, no worries" You thanked her, paid and left hand-in-hand with Kirishima out of the tattoo parlor.

You could feel Kirishimas eyes on you the whole time you walked to the food court in the mall, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. You smiled up at him, your nostrils flaring making a stinging pain shoot through your nose.

"Ouch..." You wrinkled your nose and gently touched the jewelry. Kirishima look at you concerned.

"Are you doing ok? Do you need anything?" Kirishima led you over to a table and bent down next to you and examined your nose.

Your eyes scanned over his face, drinking in every little detail. You watched his small, dark eyebrows furrow in focus. His eyes are slightly slanted, a small scar above his right eye and his lips are slightly dry and cracked but pink and plump. His face is almost round, not very many sharp details except for his jawline and his pointed chin. And his eyes are as red as ruby's, sparkling in the dull light of the mall.

You and gently caresses his face, he looks like a puppy melting into your touch. Kirishima snuggles into you hand. He grabs your wrist and kisses the inside of it, his eyes never leaving yours.

"You know, that piercing really fits you baby" He says quietly while bringing your face close to his. Your face tingles with a blush, you eyes dilating as he comes closer to your lips.

His lips brush against yours in a teasing way, the way he holds your head doesn't allow you to lean forward. A sly smile crosses his face, his eyes scrunching in a smile.

"Eiji, I want to kiss you.' Kirishima laughs and presses a long kiss to your lips.

When he pulls away his eyes avert to you nose again, his thumbs rubbing back and forth across your cheeks. You lean forward and brush your nose against his.

"I love you...s'fuckin much."

“Just remember to give it your all, kiddo! They’ll love you”

The words of their mentor ran through their mind as the plane landed on the strip, the rattling of the cabin alerting them of their arrival. It felt like dumb luck that they were chosen as a new addition for Task Force 141, hand selected by Captain John Price himself. Being a military brat meant they were basically trained from birth for active duty, {Y/N}’s skills were highly respected by their superiors (no matter how much they had their own doubts).

Sun rays filled {Y/N}’s eyes as they used their free hand to shade their face enough to make the descent down the stairs safer. There waited for them was a young man with dark skin around his late-twenties next to Capt. Price, {Y/N} assumed the man was one of his new teammates.

“Greeting {C/N}. Glad to see you again, mate. I hope the flight here didn’t treat ya too badly..” Price shook their hand with a warm smile on his lips, he gestured to his left toward the other male “..Meet Sergeant Kyle Garrick.. Code name Gaz. He’ll be acting as your guide around the base as I’m busy with a few meetings I have today. I was hoping to show you around myself, but it couldn’t be helped. Speaking of which, I’m a tad late..See ya at lunch” The older male sighed giving {Y/N}’s shoulder a welcoming squeeze as he gave Gaz a wink before leaving the two of them.

Y/N turned their attention to the slightly taller male for further instruction, they were able to take a better look at him. He was so youthful and frankly handsome, his light facial hair outlined his jaw nicely, his smile caused their chest to feel warmer. Gaz stood with confidence as he held his hand out to {Y/N} “Sup, like the cap said, I’m Gaz.”

They took Gaz’s hand in a firm handshake, as they did so Gaz pulled them into a bro-hug, his smile never breaking. “It’s great to finally have someone on the team closer in age. Let’s start this tour with your room, so you don’t have to lug that around the whole time.” Gaz let {Y/N} go walking towards the hanger, leaving them a little dumbfounded by the sudden physical contact.

‘Mmmm..Not what I was expecting, Gaz is a hugger, noted. I wonder if the others will be the same..’ They thought to themselves slinging their duffle bag over their shoulder, taking long strides to catch up with their interesting colleague.

Gaz filled the silence between them with small details of the base, from passing the training halls to the recreation area as they made the long way to the barracks (basically showing them everything). {Y/N} started to feel a slight annoyance start to build in their mind as they recalled what Gaz said earlier, it seemed they ended up just carrying their stuff the whole way. The feeling spiked as the two finally made it to their destination and Gaz had a cheeky smirk on his lip. He leaned against the frame of {Y/N}’s new room, luckily for them the base had adequate space for each member of 141 to have private quarters.

{Y/N} smacked their lips towards Gaz causing the male to snort in response, they placed their hand on that door handle but stopped themselves before proceeding. “Is it unlocked?” They asked, not wanting to feed into Gaz’s mischief further, all they wanted was to unpack and take a few minutes to settle in.

“Yeah, don’t worry I’m not gonna make you run into the door. Plus the key should be inside, along with a small map of the base just in case. Though I’m an awesome tour guide so I doubt you’ll be needing it.” Gaz boasted himself, this time it was {Y/N} who scoffed.

“Absolutely, one hundred percent..” They said, opening the door to the 140 square foot room, which was furnished with a plain colored full sized bed, a large wardrobe, and a basic oak desk and matching desk chair. {Y/N} placed the duffle bag on the bed then laced their fingers together to quickly stretch and crack them. They hummed at the satisfying feeling it gave as he turned back to Gaz who was now standing in the doorway.

“Since I showed you everything, I’m gonna leave you to hang out and settle in before lunch time. I’ll be in the training hall if you need anything or get bored. See you later, {C/N}” He said, closing the door for them with a small wave, which they returned.

They waited a few minutes before they let out the deep sigh they didn’t realize they were holding in. Pushing the bag to the end of the end, {Y/N} crawled onto to bed, creaking under their weight. They wrapped their arms around their head, moving their legs close to their chest as they hid into themselves. From learning of their new post to the moment they stepped foot on base, the situation hadn’t set in until now.

The intense sound of their heartbeat filled the negative space, minutes felt like hours whilst they laid curled into themselves. They meekly hummed a snippet of a song their Mother would sing when {Y/N} would have episodes like this at home. It had been a while since they felt so frightened by a decision, they always went from one mission to another like they were ordered to do. The feeling of making their own decision on their career was so freeing yet so overwhelming, it made their head spin and their heart sink. {Y/N} took a couple deep breaths then stretched their limbs out, sitting up on their bed to check the time. ‘Only twenty minutes..That’s good, I didn’t waste too much time.’

They moved off the bed over to the desk, picking up the simple key ring with a single key on it that laid on a map of the base. They ran their thumb over the key, the cool metal feeling nice on their warm skin, before placing it back on the desk. They thought the best next course of action was to unpack, change into their new uniform, then head to meet up with the rest of their team for lunch. It took them only 30 minutes to finish their tasks before they made their way out of their room, locking the door behind them as they went. {Y/N} had the map folded in their pocket just in case, but Gaz in fact was a good tour guide, so getting to their destination was easy.

The sound of a few men laughing echoed through the hallway leading to the entrance of the mess hall, which was more like a mini makeshift dining and recreation room with a decent sized kitchen area. The team had strong feelings their bond would grow stronger if they made homemade meals together. As {Y/N} entered the room, they saw Price by the stove with a gentle looking Hispanic man chopping vegetables nearby. Sitting at the table was Gaz, along with another Hispanic man widely smiling, a loud laughing Scottish Man, and..{Y/N} almost couldn’t believe their eyes as the Ghost sat with the rest of his teammates. Alongside Capt.Price, his reputation was well known, even his mentor had a run in with Ghost.

Gaz was the first one to acknowledge {Y/N}’s presence in the room as he waved his hand high, greeting them in a chipper tone. “Hey {C/N}. Glad to see you decided to join us, time to meet the rest of the gang.” {Y/N} took a seat next to the excited male, looking at each person as they were introduced. “First off, we have Sergeant John Mactavish call him Soap..” Said male flashed {Y/N} a flirtatious smile with a wink. “..Then, Colonel Alejandro Vargas of the Mexican Special Forces," Alejandro raised his glass as a welcoming gesture. "As well as his second in command Sergeant Major Roldolfo Parra or Rudy. He’s the one next to Price over there.”

Rudy turned to the table after hearing his name to wave at {Y/N}, his smile was as warm and welcoming at Price’s was. Their attention turned to the final member to be introduced, his gaze intense making them feel a bit nervous. “Last but not least, we have Lieutenant Simon Riley better known as Ghost.” The lieutenant gave his new teammate a nod for a reply, turning his gaze to a different part of the room. “Don’t take his cold shoulder personally, the LT is a big softie when you get to know him.” Soap chimed in causing Gaz and Ale to snicker.

“Either way it’s nice to meet you all. I’m Sergeant {F/N L/N], my alias is {C/N}. I look forward to working with you all.” They spoke confidently as they sat back in their chair, feeling more part of the group as they chatted. They were asked about little things like where they were from and their experiences to their hobbies and interests. It was mainly Gaz, Soap, and Ale who asked, Ghost just sat there listening intently locking away their answers for future use.

The conversation ended when Price and Rudy placed the components of their shared meal onto the table. Soap and Gaz were instructed to grab plates and utensils as {Y/N}, Ghost, and Ale took turns washing their hands. During their chat it was explained how chores and meal prep were divided equally amongst them, with {Y/N} now here they would have to do some adjustments. Any anxiety or doubts about joining were starting to melt away as they ate and laughed amongst their new colleagues.

anyhoo sorry for the late response i haven't been able to sit down and ramble in a bit.... hope this is still worth the wait :')

ACHILLES HAD THE MOSTTTT AMOUNT OF THOUGHT INTO HIS REDESIGN (as in literal time. i still thought about the achaeans but achilles i had a literal mood board up dedicated to just Him)

his colors + jewelry were so fun to come up with. he only deserves the best color palette... pretty pretty princess of pthia

i saw this outfit/dress on lolitawardrobe and it screamed achilles to me 😭😭😭 i really wanted to incorporate the skeleton and marine animal together as a way to signify what's to come and his mother's origins (OH. AND HIS ANIMAL IS HECTOR'S DOLPHIN. HOPE THIS HELPS.)

I really appreciate Tony not dying every ep this time but I want more of him. I want Superior Ironman, Sorcerer Supreme Tony and Awesome Facial Hair Bros.

I need some What If's where Tony and Stephen work together or Tony and Loki. Or Tony gets to be the main character and/or hero of his story.

And while I like Peggy I don't love her or need her in half the episodes, let others shine. I'd love to see more Captain Marvel as well, fully powered and kicking ass.

wait actually. list of things i like/dislike abt infinity nikki :3

note that ive been playing like my child self w love nikki (skipping past basically all of the lore unless sm catches my eye)

things i dislike:

its a gacha game and thus inherently predatory. esp when its marketed towards kids.

very little diversity. you can tell skin color was a second thought to the developers. there’s only four skin tones and when you press clear, the skin tone clears as well. there’s no way to set a default skin tone. a lot of the lip sticks look oversaturated on the darker skin tones. they did not care enough to adjust it and thats horrible.

i know we’re playing as nikki but i Would like at least some body diversity w her.

we need a clear resources button dear god.

i want an option to only send/receive snapshots from friends. let me take photos w my friends :(

option to send photos to our friends in chat!! and emotes!!!!!!! photo taking is half the game man.

the fact that summoning your whimcycle is locked behind that paid bike :’’’ im sick of losing it bro.

photo mode is also beautiful and allows the players to have so much creative freedom. like they know what we want. we can pose our nikki and pause her mid animation, we can put lighting on her in different colors, she has different poses depending on circumstances (ex: sitting at a particular area, interacting w an item), we have focal length, adjustable aperture, the npc’s pose with you etc etc. its sooo sooo cool and interactive. and i love that the lighting and filters have intensity adjustments.

the details on the clothes and scenery are sooooo beautifully done. everything is gorgeous i want to stop and take a million photos all the time.

the fact that they are so responsive to their playerbase is awesome. most of the common complaints have already been dealt with.

pretty generous which im actually surprised abt. launch was huge ofc they gave us a free four star outfit for nikkis birthday, a free four star outfit for pre registering, and like 120 free pulls. and for cny theyre giving us like 4 free sets + two evolutions whcih is sooo crazy to me and they have items in store tht you can buy w diamonds!!!! the hanfu set and its evolution was less than two ten rolls! and they have a placeable picnic set for the same amount of diamonds you get in your dailies!!!! thats crazy!!

i really like that we can choose make up i think thats fun sorry.

the fact that you can find npc’s in the open world :’))) <3 it makes the world feel sooo lived in its wonderful. AND AGAIN! THEY POSE WITH YOUUUU!!!!!! i do wish we could choose their poses but ill take what i can get.

i do think snapshots are a vv fun way to interact w people <3 its vv fun seeing other peoples photos when youre not overwhelmed lmao.

the jump height is soooo whimsical i love it every time i jump in any other game it feels so dull now.

i like that the combat doesn’t require you to level your nikki. they get so creative bc of that too. the boss battles needing you to use different abilities is sooo cool.

Off anon, Long ask ahead.

Serious: When my friend first sent CTB to me, I read the first two chapters. Then I abandoned it. A long while later. I remembered I never read it. Thought, “Well let’s give it one more chance, it might surprise me.” Man, oh man did it. I got to the Ear-piercing scene and was hooked. The dread I felt throughout the past sections. Just knowing Something terrible was going to happen and they were going to stop being friends, brothers. When Spirit discovered Warriors had been lying about the light spirits. I thought that was it. But Then It Wasn’t. and that was so much worse. In a good way. Defying expectations. The neck scene. Changed the whole game. Went from, “I’ve got stop projecting onto these characters. Obviously, the author didn’t mean for me to interpret it like That.” To, “Holy Shit I am So Awesome and good at subtext.” Very good. I did not notice the underlining theme about hands until it was Too Late. Went back and looked at previous chapters. Oh my god it was so obvious. Of course, now I am intentionally looking for foreshadowing. Which might also cause problems. I am noticing Drowning coming up A Whole Lot. So, worries. Went back and reread the first two chapters after I finished reading and was punched in the face by how much I missed. I was mainly compelled by the past sections. In part because there were fewer characters and thus it was easier for me to understand. The first time the present sections really got me was when Warriors found Wind with the journal. I was so scared for him. And the next chapter did not disway my fears. I cannot properly explain the way I felt when reading. Every so often I would feel the most amazing sense of dread while reading. And it compelled me. You wove such complicated feelings into this story. I so desperately wish I was better at explaining emotions, just so that I can tell you how I felt while reading. But god. I can find myself in some way in Spirit, The child, and Warriors. It’s so incredible.

The dread I felt during Scenes like, the entirety of chap 14 or the build up to The child’s departure. Is rivaled only by the Horror I felt when the Minish showed up in chapter 16. I actually had to stop reading for a moment because I was so scared. I don’t know why.

Silly: Don’t worry, I’ve already ‘fought’ my friend. When the name twilight came up, I genuinely thought it was twilight sparkle from my little pony. I very quickly scrolled back up to look at the character tags (I did not look at any of the tags before reading, big mistake.) when the minish first came up, I felt such a primal sense of fear. I can’t even explain it. I thought I was getting by fine. Then A Creature showed up and my gosh. I had to stop reading for a minute and prepare myself because I was just SO scared. Though I have to say that by far the scariest moment when reading, was the slow dreading realization that every single character was blonde. Horrifying. I keep getting Wind and Wild mixed up. It’s causing problems. It took me so long to realize Time was the child. I was so dead set on the theory that Time was an older Warriors. It made sense at the time. Speaking of Warriors. I keep thinking of him with facial hair. which is funny because he is constantly described with a clean-shaven face. And I kept forgetting. I have to wax him in my brain every few minutes. Legend is flipflopping in my brain from, I think I know what game he’s from, to, emo teen. I no longer know how old any character is. I do not trust my perception of age. I thought 'old man' Time was in his Sixties, I thought he had fully gray hair. NOPE! Another blonde boy! I knew of exactly two legend of Zelda games. Original legend of Zelda, and Tears of the Kingdom (and super smash bros. if that counts???). I think perhaps this is causing problems. When Lana got mad at Warriors for spreading rumors about her and Time. I remember thinking, “That’s kind of an overreaction.” And then I went back and reread that that chapter and GET HIS FUCKING ASS LANA. I am now a Lana apologist.

Spirit is just continuously playing the “Hate” monologue from, “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream,” in his head (Me, projecting again). This is very disjointed. Thank you.

Going into this story with nothing but Tears of the Kingdom, the original LOZ, and Super Smash Bros to guide you is a feat. I have friends who are more well-versed in Zelda lore, and they do not understand what is going on.

I am both impressed and terrified. I still think you should fight your friend.

Nonetheless, I'm really happy that you enjoyed the story-- especially the past sections. The past is always the hardest to write, and it's really nice to know that you were so deeply invested in it. I'm really happy that you found it compelling and dread-inducing. Truly, thank you <3

Also, Spirit having the hate monologue on loop in his brain is the funniest take on the character. No notes.
