Jackson is a duck with an identity crisis.

It all began on a sunny Easter day, when a mother duck laid a clutch of eggs. A curious young bunny happened to stumble across one that had rolled away from the nest. Thinking it was an easter egg, she picked it up and took it home. But she and the rest of her family were in for a shock, when later a duckling stumbled out to greet them. Seeing his new family, the soon to be named Jackson proclaimed himself to be a rabbit. The family, realizing the new responsibility they'd come to have, didn't have the heart to correct the newborn. And so the identity stuck.

It's been quite a while since that faithful day, and Jackson still swears he's a bunny; the same as all his brothers and sisters. He has no clue that he's adopted, nor does he listen when plushies insist he's a duck. "If I'm a duck, then why do I have long white ears?" (the ears were a gift from his grandfather Oreo when he was too small to remember things well). Some plush his own age make fun of him for it. Others go along with his fantasy. But at the end of the day, Jackson doesn't care how he's treated. He's loved and cared for by his family and that's what matters. The relative he is closest to is his older sister Cotton Ball, who is fiercely protective of him (because she's the one who found him)

Staying In Bed

Corey Cunningham x fem!reader

Authors Note: This is a small chapter for the Corey series but I have had this idea forever. Guest appearance from my favorite boy aside from Corey.

You groaned as you smashed your face into your pillow again for what felt like the eighth time. You had woken up feeling gross and realized you had gotten a cold. Most likely from someone at work. No wonder you heard someone coughing all day two days ago…

Though Corey couldn’t take much time off work, he promised to be there later to take care of you. You had insisted that a cold was nothing and you would be fine, but he insisted on doing so anyway. “And plus, soup is one thing I can make that doesn’t burn,” he had joked. You gave in and said that he could come over.

You slept for most of the day, waking up to the sound of your bedroom door opening. You were greeted by your concerned looking boyfriend, who was carrying multiple bags full of stuff. You yawned and stretched, “what’s all that?” Corey pulled out multiple Squishmallows from the bags, putting them on your bed. He had picked out the burger named Carl, a winter version of Cam wearing a beanie and scarf, a winter version of Avery the duck, and your now fourth bigfoot who had a snowflake on her. You were grabbing them when Corey went out to the hallway and brought back a giant Gary, the giraffe. “I know you wanted this one,” Corey said with a big smile, “I managed to find a good deal for him.”

Your jaw dropped as he handed you the giraffe. Gary stared up at you with his small eyes and massive nose, almost looking like a slice of pizza. You couldn’t believe you finally had him. You looked up at Corey, “baby, I can’t believe it. Thank you so much.” He kissed your forehead, “it’s the least I could do. I thought it would help you feel better.” He sat down on your bed off to the side a bit before grabbing as many Squishmallows as he could, piling them onto the floor. You watched confused as he left your room and came back with one of your kitchen chairs, setting it near the end of your bed. You watched as Corey draped one of your extra blankets over the chair and the end of your bed, making a little tent.

Corey then placed one of your Squishmallows, Avery wearing a beanie, onto the chair. He held up Tina the tiger next to him before speaking in a high pitched voice, “Avery! Do you know how to make soup?” You grinned as you realized what he was doing. “I do not, Tina,” said Avery, “for I am simply a duck.” “Oh no! Who knows how to make soup?” Tina asked. Corey then grabbed Gary before speaking in yet another goofy voice, “I know how to make soup! I also know how to make pizza. I really like pizza.” You couldn’t stop the giggles coming out of your mouth as you watched the scene unfold.

Corey then had Gary and Tina pretend to make soup before getting up and heading to your kitchen. You didn’t need to be a genius to know that he was making some soup as fast as he could. Fifteen minutes later and he came back with a hot bowl of chicken noodle soup before placing it in front of your Squishmallows. “We did it, Avery! We made soup!” Corey said as Tina. He handed you the bowl and a spoon, smiling softly. You ate the soul and drank the leftover bits for turning to Gary, “that was amazing Gary. Thank you.” Corey held Gary again and made him nod, “of course! I will make more later, yes I will.” You laid back in bed, grinning. He placed Gary next to you before putting the other stuffed animals back in their proper spots.

“Thank you, Corey. I feel so much better already,” you said to him. Corey smiled, “anything for the love of my life.” He brushed some hair out of your eyes before leaning down and kissing your forehead. You were so comfy and happy that you fell asleep not long after.

Corey watched you sleep for a bit, happy that he was helping you feel better. Once he decided you were all good, he grabbed his keys and left your house, hopping on his motorcycle. He knew where he had to go next.

Corey was going back for more Squishmallows.
