Hmm so it turns out many people consider Ava a bad protagonist and find her annoying??? And that the show is slow??? And that it endorses disability erasure???

I hardly ever fall in love with main leads especially 'the chosen one' types and yet Ava was so easy to get behind and even relatable and I love her so much. And god I wish the show was even slower and it had more episodes like I wanted to see the dynamics between the sisters in depth, Ava and Bea's relationship progressing, little lost moments, their quiet times, their training sessions, them joking around and being normal idk. It still went by too fast?

And I might be wrong here but to me it wasn't disability erasure. Ava's disability is very much a part of her throughout. It's why she spends half the season running away because she hasn't lived yet. It's why she can't give up the halo either. It's why she can't drain the halo too much or can't fight as good as other warrior nuns (minus not being trained yet of course). It's her deepest fear. And it is so fundamental to her and Bea's relationship too like Bea touching her after that fight with Crimson, Bea reassuring her, Bea understanding her fears and hesitance....her disability is a very much constant presence throughout the narrative even though under the surface and ahhhhh I want to scream so bad rn.

I'm straight up not having a good day today and then finding out about these shitty opinions about this beloved sunshine of a character—

Are people allowed to have opinions I don't agree with? Yes.

Do I want to hit them on the head with a stick despite? Also Yes.

Now I'm wondering am I biased because I've read way too many fics and post analysis' and therefore see more depth than there was? Does it even matter?

You know what just really gets me about Beatrice's reaction to the kiss?

It wasn't just that she was dealing with internalized homophobia and the fear of losing Ava throughout the entire season. As far as she knew, this girl was straight!

To find out that Ava didn't just think of her as a best friend, but loved her the same way that Bea loved her ... Beatrice was not prepared.

If Ava didn't make the first move, I don't know that Bea would've been able to tell her how she felt. She was so scared. She needed that confirmation to let go: to kiss Ava back and know that it was okay, that she was loved, that Ava loved her.

She could finally just be and bask in the love she had denied herself for so long. Caress the face of that beautiful girl who set her heart and soul free.

I will never not be over these two.

Happy Ace Week! This might seem like an odd fic to promo on Asexual Awareness Week, just going by the title, but it's one where I very clearly made Beatrice demisexual without actually intending to. I didn't realize this until a friend pointed out to me that Beatrice has no interest in sex for its own sake, except with Ava, and only does it to improve her ability to give Ava pleasure if and when they finally get together, and I said "oh. OH."

Anyway. Here's a fic written entirely from the perspective of Beatrice Silva as a memoir to her college years, specifically the semester when she finally got together with the girl of her dreams.

She’s been waiting a while, has heard the bells chime out at least twice while watching boats drift lazily through the canal below.

Beatrice as the daughter of the wealthiest family in town who own the biggest estate and supply almost half of the produce to the town, while Ava is an orphan who somehow made her way from Spain to this little town in england with no specific purpose but to survive (which is something that makes Beatrice admire her from the start).

Ava lives and hides in the barn for a couple of days before Beatrice finds her, but she’s so curious about Ava she manages to get Ava a job in the estate as a stable hand and helping with the harvest.

the thing is Beatrice’s deepest passion is learning languages, so much so that she’s willing to break every rule her parents have set to have Ava teach her spanish. They spend the better part of the late evening hiding away at the barn, with Beatrice sneaking pastries and candied fruits to Ava.

as a thank you, Beatrice is more than willing to answer each and every one of the questions Ava has about anything (when she doesn’t know the answer, she spends hours searching for it at her family’s library)
