The night before you turned sixteen, you couldn’t even fall asleep. Just knowing that the words on your wrist would be revealed soon had you running laps around your room out of anticipation. When the sun rose and the burning sensation on your arm began, you knew it was time to see who your soulmates were.

Your friends loved to tease you for your two soulmates. When they clambered around you to see the writing on your wrist, you’d blush any time someone would see it and take a moment to piece together what kind of situation you were in. You were hot gossip around school for the longest time and you hated every minute of it.

By the time graduation came around, most of your friends had found their soulmates. You knew that there wasn’t any time frame to find yours, but seeing everyone you knew cuddled up with their soulmates–their other half–made you jealous. You figured that you’d at least have found one of them by now.

After your first semester at college, you found a part-time job in a cafe a couple blocks from campus. You enjoyed working there. All of your coworkers were nice and no one cared if you made yourself a cup of coffee during your shift or snuck in after hours to do homework or catch up on sleep in the break room. You’d always shake your head and apologize as their faces would fall and they’d make their way to the next closest coffee shop to ask the next unsuspecting barista there. The thought of meeting your soulmate at work was funny, you’d admit. But what were the chances of something like that actually happening?

Your soulmate jealousy grew even further when it did happen to your one coworker who hadn’t found her soulmate. She asked if she could take a young woman’s order. When the young woman held up her wrist with deep purple writing she asked, “Is this your favorite color?”

There were cheers among everyone in the cafe as the two held each other in a tight embrace. Even your bright smile that refused to fall down couldn’t cover up the silent tears that trailed down your cheeks. You had never felt more alone in that moment.

Your attitude at work grew bitter, which many people around you noticed. The soulmate talk toned down after a while, and you felt kind of bad about it. But the less they mentioned their soulmates meant you were less likely to snap at customers and that made for much better business.

After one particularly rough day during the holiday season where you had to deal with pissed off customers who were unhappy with their overly sweet Christmas themed drinks, you were close to begging your boss to let you go home early. You were the only one behind the counter meaning you had to deal with every rude and pushy customer that approached you as you were trying to balance taking orders and preparing each drink.

“Just one more hour,” you whispered to yourself. You arched your back, letting all the cracks out before smiling a fake cheery smile at the next two men in line. “Hi there! How can I help you?”

The two men were attractive, you wouldn’t lie. Even through their puffy winter coats and scarves that were wrapped up to the tips of their chins, you could tell they were well built. You wouldn’t be surprised if they were heroes or something. They both gave off the warm yet intimidating vibe that the heroes you’d seen on TV and on the streets do.

One of the men had bright red hair and smiling eyes while the other was blonde with mean eyes that shot daggers through your stomach. If you weren’t so distracted by their looks, you’d have been able to ready yourself for what was to come.

“Took long enough!”

Your stomach dropped and your knees nearly buckled from the shock at hearing those words. You barely heard the other one say, “Hey, go easy on them, man.”

You looked between the two of them as tears crowded at the corner of your eyes. Soon, everything looked like it was underwater.

“Hey, are you alright?” the red haired one asked. “Nice going, Bakugou. You made them upset.”

You shook your head. You weren’t upset. You were overwhelmed with a sense of relief and gratitude and shock and the feeling of not knowing at all what to feel at all. “It’s not that.” You sniffed, rubbing up your nose with the sleeve of your sweater. Pushing it back, you revealed the different colored writings on your left wrist. “It’s just that…” you paused. “I think you might be my soulmates.”

I get overly emotional whenever I check the notes and comments on this one. 2: Serendipity - Bakugou Katsuki x Reader. This is my longest single fic to date and I honestly had so much fun writing it. I could literally write for this AU over and over. 3: On Call - Bakugou Katsuki x Shindou Yo x Reader. The way my top 3 is all Bakugou fics for once! This was a collab I did with the amazingly talented @/cupajoart and it was so nice bouncing ideas off each other and seeing the amazing art she made to go with it.  My favourite: Adoration - Bakugou Katsuki x Reader. You know I rarely like my Bakugou writing, but this was such a self-indulgent fic where I put all the things I enjoy into it. It was one of those fics that you don’t even realise you’re at 5k+ because you’re just so into writing it? I think I actually did it in one sitting, and I just love subby Bakugou.

hi hi autumnal !! my day was ehh but this ask cheered me up a lot so thanks for stopping by with it! :) ah okay this is kind of basic but college aus always do it for me. suna and the miyas in a college setting just seems like a everything i hoped university would be lol. having fun but also exploring adulthood with the three of them is so so fun to think about. ah but i also really like the thought of soulmate aus!! i always think that katsuki and i fit the rivals to lovers trope best and that translating into a soulmate au seems so fun to me. like constantly competing and being at each other’s throats and then suddenly finding out that we’re actually meant for each just makes me smile haha
