Incredibly interesting how the anti-Zionists in my mentions can’t seem to criticize Zionism without Holocaust Revisionism & pogrom denialism, when even just a cursory glance at early Zionist writing shows how thoroughly they saw national independence as a means of self-defense against antisemitic violence that was widespread long before the Holocaust. Don’t take my word for it; read for yourself:
“Auto-Emancipation”, Leon Pinsker, 1882:
The events of the last few years in enlightened Germany, in Roumania, in Hungary, and especially in Russia, have effected what the far bloodiest persecutions of the Middle Ages could not. The national consciousness which until then had lain dormant in sterile martyrdom awoke the masses of the Russian and Roumanian Jews and took form in an irresistible movement toward Palestine. Mistaken as this movement has proved to be by its results, it was, nevertheless, a right instinct to strike out for home.
BILU Manifesto, 1882:
“If I do not help myself, who will help me?” Nearly two thousand years have passed since, in an evil hour, after an heroic struggle, the glory of our Temple vanished in fire and our kings and chieftains exchanged their crowns and diadems for the chains of exile. We lost our country where our beloved ancestors had lived. Into the Exile we took with us, of all our glories, only a spark of the fire by which our Temple, the abode of the Great One, was engirdled, and this little spark kept us alive while the towers of our enemies crumbled into dust, and this spark leapt into the celestial flame and illuminated the heroes of our race and inspired them to endure the horrors of the dance of death and the tortures of the autos-da fe. And this spark is again kindling and will shine for us, a true pillar of fire going before us on the road to Zion, while behind us is a pillar of cloud, the pillar of oppression threatening to destroy us. Are you asleep, O our nation? What have you been doing until 1882? Sleeping and dreaming the false dream of assimilation. Now thank God, you have awaked from your slothful slumber. The pogroms have awakened you from your charmed sleep. Your eyes are open to recognize the obscure and delusive hopes.
“The Jewish State”, Theodor Herzl, 1896:
No one can deny the gravity of the situation of the Jews. Wherever they live in perceptible numbers, they are more or less persecuted. Their equality before the law, granted by statute, has become practically a dead letter. They are debarred from filling even moderately high positions, either in the army, or in any public or private capacity. And attempts are made to thrust them out of business also: "Don't buy from Jews!" Attacks in Parliaments, in assemblies, in the press, in the pulpit, in the street, on journeys--for example, their exclusion from certain hotels--even in places of recreation, become daily more numerous. The forms of persecution varying according to the countries and social circles in which they occur. In Russia, imposts are levied on Jewish villages; in Rumania, a few persons are put to death; in Germany, they get a good beating occasionally; in Austria, Antisemites exercise terrorism over all public life; in Algeria, there are traveling agitators; in Paris, the Jews are shut out of the so-called best social circles and excluded from clubs. Shades of anti-Jewish feeling are innumerable.
Address at the First Zionist Congress, Max Nordau, 1897:
To Jewish distress no-one can remain indifferent, neither Christian nor Jew. It is a great sin to let a race to whom even their worst enemies do not deny ability, degenerate in intellectual and physical distress. It is a sin against them and against the work of civilization, in the interest of which Jews have not been useless co-workers. That Jewish distress cries for help. To find that help will be the great work of this Congress.
Address at the Sixth Zionist Congress, Max Nordau, 1903:
From the very beginning we boldly and distinctly said, "We are not contented; we regard our situation as a very bad one; we consider our treatment as discreditable and undeserved; we regard a fundamental change in our situation as a vital necessity; after the humiliating attempts we have made at assimilation with other peoples we have taken counsel with ourselves and we desire to live in our own way, in our own right, on our own soil."
Additionally, in the same year Emma Lazarus wrote The New Colossus (the poem at the base of the Statue of Liberty, that the quote “Give me your tired, your poor / Your huddled masses longing to breathe free” comes from), 1883, she also wrote The Jewish Problem and the final letters of An Epistle to the Hebrews, both of which called for the establishment of a Jewish state & emigration to Palestine to protect Eastern European Jews from the antisemitism they were facing.
TL;DR – The above quotes weren’t the first time Jews suggested national self-determination as a response to anti-Jewish violence—and certainly not the first to discuss a return to Zion—but they were from more than SIXTY YEARS before the end of the Holocaust. And not only does every single one of these quotes come from before the end of WWII, before the Holocaust, & before the Nazi party was even founded, but the latest of these quotes was an entire decade-and-a-half before the British were even in Palestine.
TL;DR TL;DR – To whatever extent guilt over the Holocaust motivated European goyim to finally aid Jews in their national project, Jews had been proposing a Jewish state to defend against antisemitism for a very very long time. To suggest otherwise is complete revisionist history.
It’s maddening to find out that the scholar who first developed the idea that “Zionism is Settler Colonialism”, Fayez Sayegh, was a member of the Syrian Nazi Party during and immediately after the Holocaust, was an active participant in the Red Scare, using it to demonize Israel as a manifestation of a Global Communist Threat™️ through the height of the Cold War (true to his Nazi roots, accusing Israel of Judeo-Bolshevism) before switching to a Colonialism narrative when Post-Colonialism came in vogue in the 60s. And yet, the people I hear parroting the talking points of this anti-Communist, Ultranationalist Fascist-turned-scholar are the people who are constantly talking about how Liberal Progressives aren’t Communist enough and actually enemies because “Liberals will always side with Fascists”. Maddening.
If you’ve ever noticed how the “Zionism = Settler Colonialism” narrative eerily shares the core components of the far right’s Replacement Theory (that there are 1. Jews 2. conspiring to invade a given place and 3. replace the population with Jews), this is why; it’s because the idea that Zionism is Settler Colonialism came from a literal Nazi.
It is very literally Nazi propaganda.
#also like even in the feverish imagining of events where the UK made Israel the idea that they'd do so to avoid reparations is nonsensical#would giving holocaust survivors land & facilitating immigration not be considered reparations?#cw shoah#tw holocaust mention#holocaust revisionism#pogrom denialism#antizionist antisemitism#i/p#emma lazarus#the new colossus#an epistle to the hebrews#the jewish problem#leon pinsker#auto-emancipation#theodor herzl#the jewish state#bilu#zionism#max nordau#first zionist congress#WWII

That special something: Santiago “Pope” Garcia x reader (a fluffy, cute Christmas story!)
A/n: wrote this quickly on Xmas morning while everyone else in the house was still asleep! If you want some romantic, cute, Hallmark movie Santi vibes this Xmas, this is my present to you! Just a quick one (and I’ll come back and proof later as I’m sure it will be needed!)! Merry Christmas lovelies, ILYSM! 🧡
Gif: @fernandabarrera
Rating: general audiences (but my blog is 18+ minors DNI)
Warnings: alcohol mentions.
The last minute rush of Christmas Eve panic-buyers has finally died down, the shelves of your cosy little artisan store almost emptied of goods.
After an exhausting day of supporting frazzled shoppers to secure the perfect purchases, you are now mentally slipping into festive mode. You’re polishing off a glass of the mulled wine you’d been handing out to customers, humming along to the lilting Christmas tunes as you finish cashing-up, and you even imagine you’ll be able to close-up on schedule until-
-The bell above the door tinkles once more, indicating a new arrival. You have to suppress an audible groan as you turn towards the noise, but you plaster on your game face. You can do this. Just one more customer.
“Merry Christmas Eve! Let me know if I can help you to find that special something,” you recite, the words spilling out on a weary auto-pilot. Your words, however, falter as you turn towards the man who has just stepped inside.
For a moment, you imagine that you might have finally fallen asleep on your feet, or perhaps slumped over the counter. This patron is handsome enough that you could believe you have slipped into a Hallmark-inspired dream.
Your eyes travel down the length of him, and back up again. Sturdy black, lace-up combat boots adorn his feet, leading up to a pair of fitted blue jeans, denim pulling taut around his ample thighs. He’s bundled up in a grey wool coat and midnight blue scarf, looking deliciously cosy, melting flakes of snow adorning his shoulders. And then, there’s his entire head and face area to enjoy.
Damn.
He’s certainly handsome.
His every feature (lips, nose, eyes, brows, cheekbones) is stand-out, yet somehow still harmonious. His brown skin is decorated with a layer of greying scruff along that mighty Disney-Prince jaw. His head is adorned with silvered curls -as perfectly swirled and placed as the ribbons you’ve been gift-wrapping with today- which have been dusted with a sprinkling of snowflakes.
You smile, and as he returns it and the creases radiate out from around his eyes you wonder if winter has suddenly passed and it is spring already, for a flutter of warmth dances in your belly.
As he turns, clasping the door shut behind him to preserve the heat, you first of all plant your hands firmly on the surface of your counter, squeezing the edge. Second of all, you spot the sizeable backpack he has slung over his shoulders. He’s likely fresh from the airport you reckon, just in time for Christmas. A squashy neck pillow is clipped to his bag, and the size of it is more substantial than a day-pack. You wonder idly who he’s visiting for the season.
As he turns back towards the interior, his dark, chestnut eyes do a sweep of you, and then of the stock. He runs a hand over his scruff before taking a few steps inside, his large pack now looking like a hazard as he meanders through the walkways between the precarious displays.
“Would you like to set that down by the counter?”
He lifts his eyebrows and pops his AirPods from his ears. “Sorry, I…”
You try to repeat the question, but with his warm eyes directly on you it takes a moment to push the words out. “Would you like to set your bag down? While you browse?”
He flutters his eyelashes at you while he thinks, and your middle turns to honey.
“Thanks. Been a hell of a trip.” You idly wonder where he’s travelled from. His weariness makes you suspect a little further than a quick hop. You watch the man puff as he emancipates himself from his pack, setting it down at the foot of the counter. You see the glimpse of a jaunty, roll-neck Christmas jumper as he unfurls his scarf too, setting that down as well as the warmth of your store envelops him.
He smiles and nods at you as he commences his browse around your display stands and shelves, scanning every inch of your store. Pausing sometimes in front of some items and rocking foot to foot as he ponders. Picking up little trinkets and items and turning them over contemplatively in his broad hands. Replacing each carefully and stuffing his hands in his jeans pockets -pulling them tight over his rump- as his face scrunches in deep consideration, lips coming to a pout and brows knitting.
Watching him, you find yourself suddenly and entirely ambivalent to the fact you’d just been about to shut up shop; despite having promised yourself yourself only moments before his arrival that you were out of here. Still, you suppose you do have places to be tonight. Stunning as he is, you feel you should probably make some attempt to expedite his purchasing.
Doing your non-intrusive shopkeeper walk, you emerge from behind the counter and round to the door, subtly flipping your sign to “closed” for good measure. Then, you round towards the man, stepping up beside him, your hands clasped neatly in front of you. “Can I help you find that special something?”
He turns. Smiles at you. Points up with his index finger, his eyebrows jumping towards his hairline. “That’s the name of the shop.” You enjoy the gravel in his voice, rough and thawing like gritted sidewalks.
It is. Special somethings.
This close, you notice that his cheeks and the tip of his nose are ruddy from the cold. You notice the subtle dusting of freckles on his nose too. Your face feels suddenly warm. “It is. So can I help you find anything special? Is there someone specific you’re shopping for?”
He rocks from foot to foot again. Saws his hand back and forth over his stubble and you hear it bristle. The sound sends a hum of electricity which beds down under your skin. “I was supposed to pick something up before I left Colombia.” He shakes his head. “I really don’t know what to bring them.”
Parents? Friends? Spouse and/or children?
Is it unprofessional to be willing so hard that he be single?
You smile softly as his eyes flick back to pore over the shelves. He seems on edge. Whoever he is visiting for the holidays, it must be a big deal.
“I can help with that,” you soothe. “We can find something perfect.”
He runs a nervous hand through his curls, displacing them into something even more wonderful. He emits a one-noted laugh, offering you a lazy flash of teeth. “Bottle of tequila’s not going to cut it this time. My buddy…” You can’t help but note the affection he imbues those words with. “He and his wife have invited me over to their place. For Christmas.” He pumps his eyebrows, as if he can’t quite comprehend their gesture.
You make your eyes wide, showing that you are listening. It’s not hard - in truth, you are rapt.
“Okay,” you nod. “We can work with that.” You look hastily around the low-stocked shelves. “A classic gift to ease along their Christmas, and show your gratitude, right?”
He huffs air out from between those kissable lips. “More like a ‘sorry for being here’ kinda thing.” He laughs but it is a terse, self-deprecating sound. “Got anything for that?”
You start to walk in a direction and with your hand you wave him along with you. He follows. “I’m sure they’ll be delighted to see you!” You know you’re certainly delighted to see him. There’s a lot to look at. “Now, what about this?” You pass the item into his hands, your fingers brushing his, and he turns it over in his palms like he had all the others.
“I dunno,” he sighs. “This is great but I…” He chews on his lip, and you wait patiently for him to finish his sentence. “I’ve been away a long time. And I haven’t been the best at… I haven’t really been… He’s my best friend, you know, and I…”
You don’t know, because he’s not finishing any of his sentences, but at the same time; you get it. You can fill in some of the blanks. His buddy means a lot to him. He’s been away for a while, and now he feels like he’s at a deficit. That he has something to make up for. That he doesn’t fully deserve his friend’s freely offered invitation to spend their special day with them.
“Okay,” you reassure softly, slipping the item from his hands and placing it haphazardly back on the shelf. “We can keep trying.”
You hover a hand around his elbow, and lead him over towards the next stand you have in mind, following the same routine. You pass a series of objects to him and he turns them over and around; but not a single one seems to spark anything. Not a single item seems good enough. Nothing, to him, feels adequate enough to gift to this man who clearly means a lot to him. Nothing seems adequate to make up for the gesture he sees as far too generous. That he sees as an intrusion.
“I’m sorry,” he finally says, upon seeing you surreptitiously checking the clock on the wall. “Shit, look at me. It’s Christmas Eve. You probably have somewhere to be. I’m such as ass.” He’s been unconsciously stalling, you think. He’s nervous about going to his buddy’s house. And, truth be told, if your store can provide him a temporary haven, then you are more than content to be a little late in catching-up with your friends tonight.
Feeling bold, you place your hand on his arm. “Don’t worry about it. I’ve got it. I’ve got the perfect thing.”
His eyes settle on you for a moment as you lean in, your voice warm and smooth and enticing like a mug of hot chocolate. His gaze flits gently over your face. “For real?” You quash the vague urge to bite his sizeable earlobe.
“Yeah!” You enthuse, an excited smile spreading over your face. “Come here. Over to the counter.”
You skip over there, your mellow shopkeeper walk forgotten, and you grab something up from the counter, waiting for him to cross to you.
The man obediently stands in front of you, clearly intrigued by the gleeful, slightly mischievous expression on your face.
Then, once he’s stood still, you produce a large, shiny Christmas bow from behind your back, the backing already peeled off to expose the adhesive. Next, with a flourish, you stick it ceremoniously on to his coat, patting it down firmly to affix it to the right side of his chest.
He compresses his chin into his chest to peer down at it, a surprised smile crinkling his nose. “What’s this?”
“It’s you.” Your eyes shine brightly as you explain. “You are the perfect special something to take to your friend’s house.”
His warm eyes search yours, his doubtful tongue darting along his lower lip.
With careful fingers, you fluff out the shiny, elaborate bow, making it perfect. “Really,” you insist. “You clearly have so much love for your friend. And, I’d guess, from the fact you’re invited to share their special day with them, that you mean just as much to them too.” On instinct, you reach up to smooth the lapels of his coat with your palms. “I don’t care how long it’s been since you saw them. You don’t need to be nervous. Nothing you can arrive with is going to be a better present than you being there with them - allll the way from Colombia- just like they wanted.”
His eyes grow misty with a depth of feeling. His lips hover between round shapes of stunned silence and curved watery smiles. His gaze flits all over your face again, until he is finally overcome by a 100-watt smile. “Alright. Then how much for the fancy bow?” He taps it proudly with his index finger.
“Free of charge,” you smile, batting your lashes at him.
“That’s a terrible business model.”
You release a bright laugh. “Silly! I’m just trying to get you out of my shop.” You nod towards the sign on the door. “Don’t you know we’re closed?”
His eyes sparkle as he receives your joke, and you cling on to the sweet, eddying feeling his smile inspires. You each linger there a moment more, until the man finally nods, sweeping up his pack from the floor and replacing it on his back, careful not to disturb the new shiny ornament adorning his chest. “I’d better get going then,” he revs softly, and -you think- as reluctant as you are to part ways. Stalling now for an entirely different reason.
It is as much as you can do to nod, smile fondly, and fold your arms around your middle.
“You, uh, got some nice plans for Christmas?” he asks as you walk him towards the door, dragging out the moment as far as is humanly possible.
“Yeah,” you tilt your head from side to side. “Spending it with my friend Frankie, his wife Ava and their kid. Think they took pity on me.”
Your patron looks at you very curiously then, a wild sparkle of delight dancing in his beautiful warm eyes. “Huh. Frankie sounds a lot like my buddy. The type to take in strays at Christmas.”
“Something like that,” you smile, then, to your surprise, your patron leans in, pressing his lips to your cheek in a chaste kiss, the tip of his nose still cold as he sinks it into the soft cushion of your face.
A giddy delight rises in your stomach. It is something like butterflies; spring already in the depths of mid-winter. Then, your customer grins. “I’ve a feeling I’ll be seeing you again,” he ventures.
“I hope so,” you bravely venture back as he steps out into the cold, snowflakes once again dusting him, like icing sugar all over a delightful snack.
“And hey,” the man says before he turns from you to plod along the street. “Thank you.” You look at him quizzically. What for? He looks you up and down once more, drinking you in like a measure of warming mulled alcohol. “For helping me find something special, just in time for Christmas.”
You heart thuds wildly as you watch him walk away, his words laced with a subtle double-meaning.
You close up the shop, pleased that you stuck around to serve that one last customer. He didn’t buy anything, but he might just be the best gift you’ve had all year.
You giggle to yourself as you pull the shutter.
Makes perfect sense that you stuck a bow on him, you think.

"Among the living nations of the earth the Jews are as a nation long since dead. With the loss of their country, the Jewish people lost their independence, and fell into a decay which is not compatible with existence as a whole vital organism. The state was crushed before the eyes of the nations. But after the Jewish people had ceased to exist as an actual state, as a political entity, they could nevertheless not submit to total annihilation -- they lived on spiritually as a nation. The world saw in this people the uncanny form of one of the dead walking among the living. The Ghostlike apparition of a living corpse, of a people without unity or organization, without land or other bonds of unity, no longer alive, and yet walking among the living -- this spectral form without precedence in history, unlike anything that preceded or followed it, could but strangely affect the imagination of the nations. And if the fear of ghosts is something inborn, and has a certain justification in the psychic life of mankind, why be surprised at the effect produced by this dead but still living nation. A fear of the Jewish ghost has passed down the generations and the centuries. First a breeder of prejudice, later in conjunction with other forces we are about to discuss, it culminated in Judeophobia. Judeophobia, together with other symbols, superstitions and idiosyncrasies, has acquired legitimacy phobia among all the peoples of the earth with whom the Jews had intercourse. Judeophobia is a variety of demonopathy with the distinction that it is not peculiar to particular races but is common to the whole of mankind, and that this ghost is not disembodied like other ghosts but partakes of flesh and blood, must endure pain inflicted by the fearful mob who imagines itself endangered.
Judeophobia is a psychic aberration. As a psychic aberration it is hereditary, and as a disease transmitted for two thousand years it is incurable."
"To sum up then, to the living the Jew is a corpse, to the native a foreigner, to the homesteader a vagrant, to the proprietary a beggar, to the poor an exploiter and a millionaire, to the patriot a man without a country, for all a hated rival."
Leon Pinsker, 'Auto-emancipation' (1882)

Nice try.
But NOBODY was calling Yusif Pasha Al Khalidi a “#Palestinian” in 1877.
Let me fill in some other blanks for you.
To be clear, the Ottoman Empire was #Turkish, not #Arab.
Also, while #Herzl built #Zionism into the political powerhouse it became and was a focused, determined, genius who cared about saving his people and doing the actual job of state-building and planning, he was most definitely not the first person to just come up with the idea of Zionism – not even close.
First, Zionism is baked into the #Jewish soul – there has been a yearning to return to #Zion since Emperor Hadrian brought 12 Roman army legions from #Egypt, #Britain, #Syria, and areas of #Judea to finally put down the three-year Bar Kokhba Revolt (the Third Jewish Revolt against the Romans) in 135 CE – after which Hadrian was so embarrassed by the early Jewish victories that he murdered more than 1 million Jews, he outlawed the practice of #Judaism on pain of death, and he renamed our homeland “Syria Palestina” after our ancient, long-extinct enemies – the Aegean “sea people” known as the Philistines.
The Jewish yearning to return is why, ever since then, #Jews have always faced #Jerusalem when we pray, Jews have always said “Next Year in Jerusalem” at the end of every Seder on Passover, Jewish grooms stepped on and broke a glass to signify the destruction of the Temple and to remind us, even in happy times, that we are a scattered people, and it is why we would recite the Psalm, “If I forget thee O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its cunning.”
Also, waves of Jews from Europe frequently made Aliyah and moved back home to Eretz #Israel over the years. For example, in 1211, a group of 300 #French and #English rabbis made Aliyah back to Israel. And more Jews from both #England and #France followed them in 1260.
Nahmanides also made Aliyah in 1267, which then encouraged other Jews join him and together they built the Ramban Synagogue in Jerusalem.
More waves of Aliyah came from #Spain because of the Inquisition starting in 1492 – thousands settled largely in Tzfat (Safed), Tiberias, and Jerusalem.
The 1500s saw waves of additional Aliyah from France, #Germany, #Italy, and other European countries as well as North #Africa – these Jews mostly joined a flourishing Jewish community in Tzfat.
Then, on October 14, 1700, a group of 1,500 Jews from Europe, headed by Rabbi Judah Hasid, made Aliyah and settled in Jerusalem.
1764 saw another organized Aliyah, this time of Hassidic Jews who were led by disciples of Ba’al Shem Tov; and they were followed by more Hassidic Jews in the subsequent years and generations.
Then in 1808, the Perushim – Jewish disciples of Elijah, the Gaon of Vilna – organized an Aliyah and established a community in Jerusalem. Others followed them to Jerusalem, while still others moved to Tzfat, Tiberias, and Jaffa.
Then, in 1830, there was a significant wave of Aliyah of Jews from Germany as well as #Holland and #Hungary.
After the Ottomans retook Jerusalem from Muhammad Ali in 1840, Jewish Aliyah more than doubled in the next four decades since Jerusalem was seen as a safer place to live.
Finally, we get to the first writings of the early pioneers of modern political Zionism. Only neither of the two early Zionist pioneers were named “Theodor Herzl.”
Modern political Zionism started with the writings of Sephardic Rabbi Judah ben Solomon Chai Alkalai (LEFT) and Ashkenazic Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalischer (RIGHT) in 1843.
Then in 1852, Alkalai established the Society of the Settlement of Eretz Yisrael in #London, and in 1871 he established a branch of this Society in Jerusalem.
Kalischer’s influence, meanwhile, led Chayyim Lurie to form the Association for the Colonisation of Palestine in Frankfort in 1860, and Kalishcher helped found the Mikveh Israel agricultural school in Eretz Israel in 1870.
Then, still before Herzl, Leon Pinsker published Auto-Emancipation in Germany on January 1, 1882, in which he urged Jews to strive for independence in Eretz Israel.
Meanwhile, the “First Aliyah” of modern political Zionism began in 1882, at a time when fewer than 250,000 #Arabs were living in the Land. About 35,000 Jews moved to Eretz Israel between 1882 and 1903.
It was in 1890 (still pre-Herzl) that publicist Nathan Birnbaum coined the word “Zionism” to describe the Jewish return to Eretz Israel where they could become a “normal” people again and live in their own sovereign nation in the only place on Earth the Jews could call “home.”
Then, finally we get to Theodor Herzl and his famous book Der Judenstaat (“The Jewish State”) in 1896.
That should clear a few things up.

Part 8 - A Sacrifice For Love
The Poem is "A Sacrifice For Love" By Peter Daniel Phiri
Title: A Sacrifice For Love - Fan Mail Pt. 7
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 1330
Rating: T
Warnings: Swearing, blood, anger.
It wasn't supposed to be like this.
Ace is hugging her knees to her chest, blood from her split knuckles coating her skin. Her hands ache. So does her face, the skin chapping from the tears and blood. Snot is mixed with blood on the backs of her wrists, the cuffs of her rain slicker now coated in the mixture.
Sam stands next to Ace's huddled form, her body taller than his from her place on the kitchen counter. He wanted to bring her to medical, he really did, but her pleas left him no choice but to bandage her up himself, even if that meant they had to take up residence in the kitchen.
He takes one of her hands with his, holding it tight enough to clean but loose enough that she still shakes slightly. The alcohol stings, shocking prickles down from her knuckles to her fingertips. Ace doesn't make a sound.
As Sam dabs antibacterial cream on her wounds, he murmurs the words of a poem, more to the room around them than to himself. Yet, she still finds comfort in the words. They resonate through her bones.
"In plight of loving you, I bleed, And willingly surrender my self to death. For with death, comes emancipation."
Sam used to repeat the poem to himself during his time overseas, fighting off record wars next to Riley. The poem was Riley's to begin with, whispered from fox holes where they made haphazard repairs to their wings in the middle of fire fights. Sam stole the words from him, and they spoke the poem in tandem; missing their families more than their own words could describe.
"But my heart is entangled with yours, And so is my life, But I have to depart now."
Sam wraps her knuckles in gauze, winding the white cotton through her fingers and over her palms. His touch is light, her hands still tremble.
Sam's hands are warm against the dull crust of her broken skin. He touches her so gently, like he might break her open but there is no intent behind his hands on her body. He works on auto piolet, the mentality that has been drilled into him since basic training taking over- fix the injuries and complete the mission.
"My soul is halfway across the journey, singing joyous melodies. My spirit stays with my heart for a while, Which with both great joy and pain, .. Engage in plucking its biting nails from yours, Before the trinity of me flies away to eternity."
After each of her hands is tended to, Sam pulls out a pack of baby wipes. He takes a few from the package, the plastic rumbling unpleasantly as he does. He carefully lifts her face with two gentle fingertips under her chin.
They make eye contact for the first time since Ace showed up to the tower. Her eyes are swollen and red ringed. Sam can't help but suck in a breathe at the sight, fighting off a grimace. He carefully dabs at her face, wiping away the crimson that threatens to stain her skin. Ace pulls her bottom lip between he teeth as he presses a bit harder to the corner of her nose. Ace steals quick glances over the plains of Sam's face, his expression almost non existent. A stoicism carved into his expression, lying just under the skin.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Sam questions, his eyes firmly on the expanse of her face, avoiding her gaze for both of their benefits. Her eyes trail over the deep lines between his eyebrows.
"I wish I hit him harder," Ace finally speaks, her voice hoarse. A laugh escapes Sam, a laugh too large; a smirk writing itself across his lips with a shake of his head. The laughter breaks Sam out of his tunnel vision, the world around him slowly easing back in.
"We don't condone violence as a way of dealing with our emotions, Ace," Sam wipes at the peak of her chin.
"Bullshit," She scoffs with a quiet voice.
"Excuse me?" Sam raises a brow at her, moving to wipe down the sleeves of her coat. The dried blood smears.
"You are the goddamn Avengers, you kill people to sort out your problems. I can hit somebody every once in a while," She explains plainly.
"Just because you can, Ace, doesn't mean that you should. After all, you know what they say about war," She quirks a tired eyebrow his way.
"It just determines who's left standing, making them the victor. They didn't have to be right in the first place," She narrows her brows at him, "You don't have to be right to win the fight, Ace, that's all I'm saying,"
She pulls away from his grasp, the blood smearing down her thumb.
"You think I won?" Her eyes leave Sam, trailing over her own hands and the blood that stains them. There is dried blood under her fingertips. Usually her stomach would turn at the sight. But now, there is a sick sense of pride swelling in her chest.
"I don't think anybody won anything," Sam begins. Ace's ego deflates. "I do think Bucky lost the worst out of everyone,"
His words shake Ace to her core. The image of Bucky turning and running from the gym is now seared into the space behind her eyelids. She pushes the heels of her hands into her eyes, pressing down firmly.
There is blood on her face again, from the cuffs of her jacket. Sam exhales, taking her wrists gently in his hands, pulling them away from her eyes. He dabs at the new crimson skin with a new wet wipe.
"Where do you think he went?" Ace's voice is small, so small she barely recognizes it herself.
"There's no telling," Sam exhales a little too hard, "I don't know him like that,"
Sam knows those words were wrong the second they spill from his lips. Ace's brows furrow, expression tightening.
"I mean, we don't talk about that sort of thing. He's always had Steve for that. Steve comforts him, knows him like the back of his hand. Me? I'm more a thorn in his side. You? Well, you're something else entirely,"
"Something else?" Her voice breaks at the end.
"An echo of home, and a glimpse at the future all in one,"
Ace wants to press him further, keep Sam talking. Spilling the secrets he doesn't even realize he knows. Maybe that's part of being a superhero, knowing things subconsciously, the deeper parts of the brain working overtime to compensate for everything life throws, every curveball and villain.
"An echo of home," She whispers to herself, over and over again. Without another word, she pushes herself from atop the table, her feet hitting the ground with a bit too much force. Pins and needles spread throughout her feet, rising up her legs. Each step tingles.
Sam doesn't stop her, though maybe he should. Maybe he should save her before she gets in too deep, but that's not in his DNA. He's a superhero, a Airman. He is the cleanup crew, the one who comes in after the war as already began. He can't keep one side from charging in, because if he did, there wouldn't be anyone there to save. So, he lets her go, disappearing into the elevator, the yellow of her rain slicker, still slick with blood is the last thing he sees as the doors slide shut.
"I can't stop your bleeding heart, since my heart's nails were rooted so deeply within yours, neither can I stop your tears from flowing, for it's better your tears flow than your blood drain. since tears cleanse your soul, your heart and your spirit. within you I've departed, but besides you, I'll forever stay," Sam continues. He's only halfway through the poem now, but he doesn't feel the need to finish it. So the words sit heavy in his chest, just waiting to be spoken.

Looks like we got the last major order done on Helldivers and the Emancipator Exosuit is available. For anyone who hasn't been on in a while it's like the Patriot Exosuit (the mech) but it uses auto cannons instead of a rocket launcher on one arm and a machine gun on the other.
It's available for purchase for 20k requisition but the last match I was in they were giving them out as a freebie for a mission stratagem.
I tried it out and it was pretty neat. The accuracy is pretty bad, about like the Patriot mech. You've got something like 4ft of height over bore since you're essentially shooting from the hips. At like 100 meters it's probably right on but at normal contact distances it hits way low.
The ammo capacity is very generous. You get 75 shells per arm for a grand total of 150 rounds compared to only 50 rounds in a normal autocannon backpack. Even better you don't have to reload the strippers every 5-10 shots. It's like you have a team reload on hand.

Hmm so Blood at the Root? Let's review:
Apologies if this becomes less review and more stream of thoughts as they come to me. I just finished this book last night and I don't want to forget things in my quest to wait a few days like I do for other reads. Getting on with it...
BAtR starts us off with what I'd categorize as the most if not one of the most traumatic events of main character Malik Baron's life. The day his magic (majik??) manifests is the day his mom dies and leaves him an orphan. The jury is out as to whether Malik killed her or not, but talk to any adult and it's obvious, isn't it??? ~sarcasm~
Fast-forward ten years and 17 year old Malik is emancipated and has one goal to rescue his foster brother Taye from the younger boy's abusive and neglectful foster parents. (If I reread this book in preparation for the sequel, I plan to skip the first 3 chapters because I'm not interested in reading about that depth of pain, hurt, and trauma again even if it sets up the rest of the book.)
A grand auto theft and nasty altercation with Taye's foster parents--also previously Malik's--Taye and Malik are on their way to California for a better life. But plans change and Malik ends up finding out he has a grandmother in Louisiana and a chance to attend a magical HBCU, Caiman University, and a chance to find out what really happened to his mama all those years ago.
What I intended as a hybrid read (physical copy + audiobook) morphed into a mostly physical read because my eyes needed to be on some paper to better keep up and retain EVERYTHING 🫡 not at all a complaint, but more a fun fact because many people suggested the audiobook as the best way to experience the book!
BAtR did some cool, unique, and important things IMO. Reminiscent of the Witchlings series by Claribel A. Ortega where the spells and magic are unapologetically in Spanish, this world leans heavily on Kreyol, sometimes translating for the reader and others time not. I quite enjoyed that! This story was also entrenched in Black Excellence, Power, and Resilience; Caiman U wasn't just there to look pretty and at my big age I'd love to have magic abilities and get to attend an HBCU.
I really appreciated the intentional diversity of Black queerness, with special attention to some of the Black guys in the book. Biphobia (and transphobia) continue to have my people by their THROATS and I like that Williams said hush that noise, Black people don't fit into a neat box so don't try and shove 'em in there!
This is getting long and I still have to get to the critique part of this review, so let's add some commas to the mix! The action scenes were stressful but flowed in such a way I couldn't stop reading, the use of AAVE was a treat and didn't need any explanation, Taye and Malik's relationship had me choked up more than a few times and it made my heart happy to know that Malik would burn down the world for him (and be completely justified IMO, just saying), and while I didn't mind the pop culture references, some choices had me worried if the target demographic would even recognize them.
That all being said, it's time to delve into some of the things that didn't work for me in this read.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS okay y'all gone yet?? 😂
There are 3 prominent Black female characters in this book that have as much an impact on the story as they do on Malik's growth and development as a character. Maya Aye, Malik's badass and powerful grandmother who isn't to be trifled with, Malik's mama, who I assumed hadn't actually died and was proved to be right, and Alexis, Malik's crush from the foster system turned first love. Their fates by the end of the book wouldn't bother me so much if the other Black girls and women didn't feel so one note (with the exception of Empress Bonclair, that bougie ass woman is gonna be trouble later and I'm so here for it LOL).
I'll preface by saying that Malik has trust issues that are 100% justified. In fact, most of the decisions Malik made didn't seem outside of the realm of possibility (abandonment, betrayal, general neglect, and being a Black boy in America will accomplish that!) With the exception of a repeated sexist belief that Alexis must be sleeping with his rival Donja for her to be on his side, Malik's actions and reactions felt reasonable and sometimes justified.
On Alexis: I'm so sorry but the romance or attempt at romance was never believable to me as a reader. There was a lot of telling over showing, and she felt a lot like a plot device just so Malik could be betrayed by her towards the end of the book. But because I didn't feel any particular attachment to her, I didn't feel the proper rage needed when she's punished by being expelled from the college and having her powers and memories stripped. I did however get a bitter taste in my mouth at having the Black girl who was going hard for other Black girls going missing and turning up dead, magic abilities or not, paying this heavy price. The more i think about it, it really feels as if Alexis' character was created to be punished at the expense of the Black boy she loves. Again...icky feelings there.
On Lorraine (Malik's mom): I'll come out the gate and say that this woman is evil. She purposefully got into some bad shit and in her quest for power she was rightfully imprisoned. Malik's loving, good memories of her? Completely self-fabricated in what I interpreted as a trauma response. I think this plot twist would have been fine in my book, maybe amazing if not for the fact that Lorraine is presented as this bright, talented young woman revered years after she left Caiman U. Again, I have this bitter taste in my mouth about an intelligent, promising young Black woman who comes off as plot fodder for Malik's character growth. When the only other Black women are set dressing with no true prominent role in the story besides how they connect to Malik, all I can do is shake my head in annoyance.
On Mama Aya: I think that this one isn't so egregious as the above examples. Mama Aya in her attempts to find her grandson sacrificed her life and the magic came to collect on that agreement. She loved and protected Malik with everything in her, and even if I empathize with Malik for feeling some type of way for the years he thought he was alone in the world with nothing and no one, I do think Mama Aye was a victim of circumstances too when it came to the decisions of her daughter and the butterfly effect that caused. Still, with Alexis expelled and his evil mama out in the world planning to cause some real destruction and damage, losing his grandmother felt like when I sat in the theater for Spider-Man: No Way Home and the narrative decided that we needed to kill Aunt May for reasons I still don't understand. It's wasteful. It's unnecessarily traumatic. It screams shock-value when it needs to shut the hell up. That emotional beat could have come from anywhere else, like??
To wrap up these thoughts, I conclude by saying that I'm unsure what to rate this read. I was engaged and locked-in, giving the energy of a 4 star minimum rating. But the way the narrative treats the female characters puts it in the 3 star range. On the other hand, I 100% plan to continue this series if only to see how things shake out for Malik and the rest.
For now, we'll leave this unrated and maybe I'll feel differently when I've read the anticipated sequel.

Programming the Future: Unleashing Abundance in Web 3.0
In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, some of the most profound societal transformations emerge not from grand strategies or lofty ideals but from unassuming origins. Consider the invention of the washing machine, a humble yet revolutionary device that significantly contributed to the emancipation of women by mechanizing domestic labor. Similarly, today’s digital innovations, particularly within the Web 3.0 ecosystem, are poised to redefine our future in ways we are only beginning to comprehend.
Responsive Web Design: Crafting the Future of User Experience
As we advance into Web 3.0, the role of responsive web design becomes increasingly pivotal. Web 3.0, characterized by decentralized applications (dApps) and blockchain technology, requires interfaces that adapt seamlessly across devices. Responsive design ensures that users interact with Web 3.0 applications fluidly, regardless of whether they’re on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop. The scalability and adaptability of these interfaces are crucial as developers work to create immersive, accessible experiences in a decentralized digital environment.
Consider a simple code snippet for responsive web design in the context of a Web 3.0 dApp:
```html <meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"> <style> body { font-family: Arial, sans-serif; margin: 0; padding: 0; } .container { width: 100%; max-width: 1200px; margin: auto; padding: 20px; } .responsive-element { display: flex; flex-direction: column; align-items: center; } @media (min-width: 768px) { .responsive-element { flex-direction: row; justify-content: space-between; } } </style>
<div class=”container”> <div class=”responsive-element”> <p>Blockchain Node A</p> <p>Blockchain Node B</p> <p>Blockchain Node C</p> </div> </div> ```
This snippet illustrates the importance of flexible design in Web 3.0, where users might access decentralized networks through various devices. Responsive design ensures that the user experience remains consistent, whether interacting with a Solana node or another blockchain network.
Solana’s Technical Advancements: Pioneering Scalability and Developer Opportunities
Solana, a high-performance blockchain, is a prime example of how technical advancements in Web 3.0 can drive both developer opportunities and scalability improvements. Solana’s architecture, which boasts a theoretical throughput of 65,000 transactions per second (TPS), sets it apart from many other blockchains, offering developers a robust platform for building scalable dApps.
A key innovation within the Solana ecosystem is Firedancer, a parallel execution engine that significantly enhances the performance of the Solana network. Firedancer allows Solana to handle an even higher volume of transactions by optimizing the execution of smart contracts and reducing latency. This technological leap positions Solana as a leader in Web 3.0 scalability, making it an attractive choice for developers seeking to build high-performance applications.
Here’s a simplified example of how a developer might interact with Solana’s network using its API:
```javascript const solanaWeb3 = require(‘@solana/web3.js’); const connection = new solanaWeb3.Connection(solanaWeb3.clusterApiUrl(‘mainnet-beta’), ‘confirmed’);
async function getLatestBlockhash() { let latestBlockhash = await connection.getLatestBlockhash(); console.log(‘Latest Blockhash:’, latestBlockhash.blockhash); }
getLatestBlockhash(); ```
This snippet showcases the ease with which developers can integrate with Solana’s network, retrieving critical blockchain data like the latest block hash. The simplicity and efficiency of Solana’s API empower developers to build sophisticated applications without getting bogged down by the complexities often associated with blockchain development.
Comparing Solana’s Architecture with Other Blockchains
When compared to other blockchain networks like Ethereum or Binance Smart Chain, Solana’s architecture stands out for its innovative approach to scalability and speed. While Ethereum’s move towards Ethereum 2.0 and proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus aims to address its scalability issues, Solana has already implemented a unique proof-of-history (PoH) mechanism that optimizes consensus by timestamping transactions before they enter the blockchain.
This architectural difference enables Solana to achieve higher throughput and lower transaction costs, making it particularly appealing for developers focused on DeFi, NFTs, and other high-demand applications. The combination of PoH with Solana’s Tower BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance) consensus ensures that the network remains secure and efficient, even under heavy loads.
Koii: Extending Solana’s Capabilities for a Decentralized Future
Amidst these technological advancements, Koii emerges as a key player leveraging Solana’s robust architecture to push the boundaries of what’s possible in Web 3.0. Koii is built on Solana, utilizing its high throughput and low latency to power a decentralized network that rewards users for contributing resources and engaging with content.
Koii’s unique approach to decentralized computation and content delivery aligns perfectly with Solana’s scalability. By incentivizing users to contribute their spare computing resources, Koii not only extends Solana’s capabilities but also democratizes access to digital assets and platforms. This decentralized model challenges traditional profit-driven paradigms, offering a glimpse into a more equitable digital future.
Consider how Koii’s API might be used to integrate decentralized storage within a Solana-powered dApp:
```javascript const koiiWeb3 = require(‘@koii/web3.js’);
async function storeContentOnKoii(data) { let result = await koiiWeb3.storeData(data); console.log(‘Content stored with ID:’, result.id); }
storeContentOnKoii({ title: ‘Web 3.0 Article’, content: ‘Exploring the future of decentralized technologies…’ }); ```
This example demonstrates the seamless integration between Koii and Solana, where developers can store and manage content in a decentralized manner, enhancing the resilience and accessibility of their applications.
The Key Impact of Solana and Koii in Web 3.0
As Web 3.0 continues to evolve, Solana and Koii are at the forefront of driving meaningful change. Solana’s technical advancements, particularly with innovations like Firedancer, provide the necessary infrastructure for building scalable, high-performance dApps. Meanwhile, Koii extends these capabilities, offering a decentralized framework that empowers users and developers alike.
For young developers and Web 3.0 enthusiasts, particularly those in Africa, the opportunities presented by Solana and Koii are immense. As these technologies mature, they offer a pathway to not only participate in the next wave of digital innovation but to lead it. By embracing responsive design, leveraging Solana’s unparalleled scalability, and exploring Koii’s decentralized solutions, developers can create applications that not only perform but also democratize access to digital resources and opportunities.
For all those who need to know:
The Three Branches of the American Government (since 1851) are: (1) the Union of States dba The United States; (2) the Federation of States dba The United States of America (Unincorporated); and (3) the Confederation of States of States dba the States of America.
The Three Branches of the Federal Government are: (1) the States of America (American, Unincorporated); (2) the United States of America, Incorporated (British Territorial, Incorporated); and (3) the United States, Incorporated (Holy Roman Empire, Incorporated).
Recently, we have received a "warning" telling us that "all three branches of the government" ---- "executive, legislative, and judicial" --- are a "captured operation".
This is because Americans were misled through the so-called Public School System to think of the Three Branches of Government in terms of functions instead of thinking in terms of discreet, identifiable business entities.
This was done to obscure the actual meaning of "three branches of government" and thus used to deceive people and explain away earlier references to the three branches of the American Government and the three branches of the Federal Government, too.
In the same way, our country's capitol has always been Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but the Federal Capitol founded in the District of Columbia has been used to upstage it and focus attention on the foreign Congresses and foreign international and global Subcontractor operations located in Washington, DC, instead.
This is part and parcel of a long history of using semantic deceit to obscure the meaning of language and redefining words as legal terms--- for example:
1. Redefining "person" to mean "corporation";
2. Redefining "natural person" to mean "corpse";
3. Using "emancipation" of slave owners to sound like emancipation of slaves;
4. Calling states-of-states "Confederate States";
5. Describing the Federal Capitol as "the" Capitol-- as if there was only one capitol city associated with our country;
6. Using "enfranchisement" as a corporation as if it was synonymous with voting rights;
7. Using "Uniform Code" to define "Uniformed Officers";
8. Registering physicians as "Medical Doctors";
9. Registering lawyers as "Bar Attorneys";
10. Using titles "Mister", "Miss", "Missus", etc. to address average people who are not in the British Merchant Marines or Navy;
11. Using the title "Taxpayer" (a British Warrant Officer who collects taxes for and transmits them to the King's Treasury) as if this meant just anyone who owed a tax;
12. Deliberately confusing The United States of America (an unincorporated American Federation of States) with The United States of America, Incorporated, (a British Territorial corporation registered in Scotland in 1868);
13. Using the word "voter" as if it was synonymous with "shareholder";
14. Using "motor vehicle" as if it was synonymous with a private auto not being used for commercial trade;
15. Using the word "driver" as if it was synonymous with the operator of a private, non-commercial auto;
16. Using the word "federal" to obscure its synonym "contract";
17. Calling an experimental mRNA injection a "vaccine";
18. Calling an American who works for the Federal Government a "non-resident alien";
19. Confusing United States District Courts (Territorial Courts) with district courts of the United States (formed under Article V).
20. Calling U.S. Territories and Possessions "Insular States" and promoting the idea that there are 57 "States";
21. Confusing British Territorial Franchise Corporations operating as States -of- States, for example, "the State of Texas", with Texas, the State;
22. Calling a foreign sovereign bank account in the International Monetary Fund the "United States Treasury Department";
23. Calling a foreign private banking cartel the "Federal Reserve" as if it was part of our Federal Government;
24. Calling a foreign, independent subcontracting agency the "Federal Bureau of Investigation" as if it was an integral part of our Federal Government;
25. Calling American Nationals "U.S. Citizens" and secretly registering them as such;
26. Passing off clearinghouse certificates as "Baptismal Certificates" and "Birth Certificates";
27. Calling American Nationals "citizens of the United States" and secretly registering them as such;
28. Pretending that "registering" property is the same as "recording" an interest in it';
29. Redefining "marriage" as a commercial Joint Venture;
30. Redefining "children" as "production units" of such a "marriage";
31. Coining disparaging labels like "sovereign citizen" which is an oxymoron and total gobbledygook.
We could go on but we've made our point. A long term and concerted effort has been made to obscure, confuse, substitute, and otherwise "gloss over" the common meaning of names, words, phrases, and legal terms to promote hidden meanings and unconscionable contracts, to unlawfully convert material interests, to obtain insurance advantages and to promote illegal actions, especially illegal asset confiscations, under color of law,
As for the three functions --- executive, legislative, and judicial, these are common functions of all three Federal Subcontractors and our American Government, too. Substituting these functions of government for the actual subunits of our government and calling them "the three branches" is a liberal misunderstanding of what the traditional and customary "branches" of our government, American or Federal, are.
The American Union of States is an unincorporated Holding Company holding the Mutual Powers at the National (Soil Jurisdiction) level of our American Government. The members of this Union are called "Union States" (nothing to do with the so-called Civil War "Union") and they are composed from all the counties within the borders of each Union State.
The American Federation of States is also an unincorporated Holding Company holding the Mutual Powers at an International (Land and Sea Jurisdiction) level of our American Government. The members of this Federation are called "States" and they are each complete and unitary within their State borders.
The American Confederation was also an unincorporated Holding Company holding the Mutual Powers at a global (Air Jurisdiction) level, prior to losing a quorum of members to operate in April of 1861. Its members were unincorporated American Businesses called "States of States" or "Confederate States" all operating in the realm of global commerce.
These are the "three branches" of our traditional and customary American Government; a careful Reader will discern that only two out of three of these Common Law branches are functioning now -- the Union States which are built upon our County Assemblies, and our Federation States built upon our American State Assemblies.
Even now, we have a problem with District Territorial and District Municipal "Assemblies" trying to conduct our business "for" us, and usurping powers never delegated to them. We also struggle with foreign British Territorial State-of-State corporate franchises misrepresenting themselves, cashiering our assets in non-obligatory State Trusts for use as collateral slush funds, and constantly trying to subject us as part of their own foreign citizenry.
These difficulties are to be expected after a long lapse of activity on the part of the sovereign government, but are, nonetheless, being slowly overcome as a clear understanding of the situation spreads worldwide and more people realize that the "federal" government, meaning "contract" government --- is not the actual government of this country, but is instead composed of two foreign service providers organized as corporations in the business of providing "essential government services".
Just as only two out of three branches of our American Government are now functioning, only two out of three branches of the intended Federal Government are now functioning.
This circumstance arises out of the same cause --- the loss of the original Confederation, due to lack of quorum.
The Confederation operating as the States of America was awarded the first Federal Constitution in 1787 --- The Constitution for the united States of America --- and it ran the first Federal Subcontractor known as "the Federal Republic" as an American governmental services provider from 1787 to 1861.
When the American Confederation went down, it took the Federal Subcontractor it sponsored with it.
Thus one branch of the three American Government branches was rendered inoperable and one branch of the Federal Government was rendered inoperable, at the same time, with the same stroke.
This circumstance then allowed Mr. Abraham Lincoln to claim that an "emergency" existed within the Federal Government, and to assert an obligation by the British Territorial Subcontractor to impose military control and ensure "continuity of government" --- the same exact reasoning being used by Donald Trump today.
It was under these presumptions that Lincoln created the infamous Rump Congress of hand-picked British Loyalists and placed them in the vacated Congressional seats of the Southern Delegates -- and from there, used this mixed body of elected Northern members and substituted Southern members to prosecute the so-called American Civil War.
But was this presumption justified on Mr. Lincoln's part --- or Mr. Trump's?
The actual States making up our Federation of States were not in Session when the original Confederation collapsed, but they could have been called into Session by Mr. Lincoln. He chose not to call upon his Employers for assistance, but it is self-evident that: (1) he owed them the duty to fully inform them and engage them, and (2)
If Lincoln had done so, the Federation of States that had delegated all federal powers -- including Mr. Lincoln's -- had the primary right and power to resolve the situation and provide the services normally entrusted to the Federal Republic by other means.
There would have been no "emergency" within the Federal Government.
The Delegators of all Federal Powers would have taken over, made decisions, and solved the problem. The Federation could have done the work delegated to the Federal Republic itself, or hired other Subcontractors to do it.
The Federation of States handled all the work of all the Federal Subcontractors for a period of almost five years, 1776 to 1781, so it was not an unprecedented circumstance or thought that they should be advised and could rightfully undertake the duties of the inoperable Federal Republic. Or could provide itself with additional, other Subcontractors, to do the work.
Today, the Federation of States is in Session. Once again, a British Territorial Subcontractor, a corporation headed by Donald Trump, is asserting that an "emergency" exists, is invoking its own martial law powers, and invoking continuance of government provisions --- just as Lincoln did.
Just as Lincoln did, Mr. Trump is failing his duty to fully inform and engage his Employers in finding a solution, even though the State Assemblies are properly provenanced and in Session.
So is there any "emergency" or are they creating one?
We believe that our British Territorial Subcontractors are reacting to a pre-planned script created in collusion with our former Holy Roman Empire Subcontractors, by which the HRE opened our Southern Border and left it open by prearrangement, thereby violating its own service contract and creating a crisis that otherwise would not exist.
We believe the HRE Subcontractors did this as an act of spite, as they know that their entire Municipal-based corporate "Empire" has no valid contract or excuse for operating outside the boundaries of the City of Washington and District of Columbia.
Knowing that they are hopelessly in violation of The Constitution of the United States, the HRE has bankrupted its own corporation doing business as the UNITED STATES (INC.) and left the field; the British Territorial Subcontractors, which also ultimately work for the Holy Roman Empire, are forced by their own contractual obligations to react to the situation Rome has handed them.
Mr. Trump's corporation(s) have "offered" to occupy our vacated Federal Republic and operate it for us; we have responded that that is inappropriate, as it would create a British Territorial Federal Republic while appearing to be a "restoration" of our American Federal Republic.
We pointed out that neither Mr. Trump nor those working for him can build or restore anything American, as they are all adopting the foreign political status of U.S. Citizens, as if they were born and raised in Puerto Rico, a British Commonwealth nation.
We, the Federation of States, can restore our Federal Republic, and we are busily organizing to do so.
In the meantime, we are advocating a drastic reduction in federal services overall, especially federal agency services, so that we and our remaining British Territorial Subcontractor can concentrate on those issues and expenses that are most important to our national security and overall well-being.
We have ranked these as: (1) Closing the Southern Border and imposing reasonable and realistic immigration standards; (2) Putting an end to the counterfeiting and abuse of Federal Reserve Notes and "fractional reserve banking" as a whole; (3) Issuing new currency, including our asset-backed American Federation Dollar; (4) dissolving the State Trusts including the individual Municipal Spendthrift (Generation Skipping) trusts and balancing the books; (5) Returning private assets, especially private trust assets, to their rightful Inheritors; (6) Issuing prepaid credit to individual Americans who are owed restitution for paying mortgages they didn't owe, property taxes they didn't owe, federal income taxes they didn't owe, and a host of other corporate debts that were foisted off onto them via unlawful conversion, deceit, personage, and barratry.
Once upon a time, prior to our country and our countrymen being duped into the service of evil men, back when our military was a military, not a mercenary force, we were honored among the nations. Nobody shouted about hating Americans. Nobody burned our flags.
Nobody had any cause to hate us, because our nation minded its own business and was peaceable in nature, promoting brotherhood and progress for mankind as a whole.
That is the American Way. That is who we truly are.
We are not by nature a nation of thugs and thieves invading and plundering other countries and murdering their people for commercial advantage. We don't do False Flags. We don't blame our victims. We don't have victims, because we don't do unjust things for unjust enrichment. We work. We play. We encourage everyone to be at peace.
That's the American Way.
Yet, in recent decades, and with increasing impunity, European criminals have manipulated public opinion with False Flags and contrived media propaganda, dumbed down and controlled our Public Education system, conscripted our young men and women under conditions of deceit to serve as foreign mercenaries, and commercialized everything. Even marriage has been denigrated to the level of a commercial Joint Venture.
These European con artists have plundered our natural resources, controlled our finances, palmed themselves off as "Americans", and deceitfully and unlawfully registered Americans as foreign citizens, so as to subject us to their own foreign laws.
They have done this under color of law, while taking their paychecks from our pockets and pretending to "represent" us.
Their contractual obligation to protect us and our persons and our country from "all Enemies, both foreign and domestic" has been evaded and ignored and redefined into an excuse to serve themselves and to protect their own self-interest.
We object to these criminal acts and evasions and redefinitions in the strongest terms possible.
We object to the improper operations of the Holy Roman Empire on our shores and its deplorable failure to correct them in a straightforward manner.
We similarly object to Mr. Trump following Lincoln's game plan of leaving the actual Employers out of the loop, substituting American organizations with British Territorial ones, continuing to operate the military as a mercenary force, and failure to address the unlawful conversion issues -- unlawful conversion of persons, property, and forms of law -- that plague this country and its people.
These are evils that have been visited upon us by our own public employees and there is no plausible excuse for it. Public employees have cause to know that they work for the Public and that we are the Public they are supposed to serve.
To the extent that they spend their days harassing us and stealing from us and abusing our credit and good names, they have cause to know that they are both in error and subject to being fired, not eligible for rehire.
This should not come as any shock to organizations in the business of providing "essential government services".
We are not speaking in terms of any electoral process by which our employees choose their own leadership. We are speaking in terms of outraged Employers who are competent to enforce the Constitutional service contracts.
Programming the Future: Unleashing Abundance in Web 3.0
In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, some of the most profound societal transformations emerge not from grand strategies or lofty ideals but from unassuming origins. Consider the invention of the washing machine, a humble yet revolutionary device that significantly contributed to the emancipation of women by mechanizing domestic labor. Similarly, today’s digital innovations, particularly within the Web 3.0 ecosystem, are poised to redefine our future in ways we are only beginning to comprehend.
Responsive Web Design: Crafting the Future of User Experience
As we advance into Web 3.0, the role of responsive web design becomes increasingly pivotal. Web 3.0, characterized by decentralized applications (dApps) and blockchain technology, requires interfaces that adapt seamlessly across devices. Responsive design ensures that users interact with Web 3.0 applications fluidly, regardless of whether they’re on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop. The scalability and adaptability of these interfaces are crucial as developers work to create immersive, accessible experiences in a decentralized digital environment.
Consider a simple code snippet for responsive web design in the context of a Web 3.0 dApp:
```html <meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"> <style> body { font-family: Arial, sans-serif; margin: 0; padding: 0; } .container { width: 100%; max-width: 1200px; margin: auto; padding: 20px; } .responsive-element { display: flex; flex-direction: column; align-items: center; } @media (min-width: 768px) { .responsive-element { flex-direction: row; justify-content: space-between; } } </style>
<div class=”container”> <div class=”responsive-element”> <p>Blockchain Node A</p> <p>Blockchain Node B</p> <p>Blockchain Node C</p> </div> </div> ```
This snippet illustrates the importance of flexible design in Web 3.0, where users might access decentralized networks through various devices. Responsive design ensures that the user experience remains consistent, whether interacting with a Solana node or another blockchain network.
Solana’s Technical Advancements: Pioneering Scalability and Developer Opportunities
Solana, a high-performance blockchain, is a prime example of how technical advancements in Web 3.0 can drive both developer opportunities and scalability improvements. Solana’s architecture, which boasts a theoretical throughput of 65,000 transactions per second (TPS), sets it apart from many other blockchains, offering developers a robust platform for building scalable dApps.
A key innovation within the Solana ecosystem is Firedancer, a parallel execution engine that significantly enhances the performance of the Solana network. Firedancer allows Solana to handle an even higher volume of transactions by optimizing the execution of smart contracts and reducing latency. This technological leap positions Solana as a leader in Web 3.0 scalability, making it an attractive choice for developers seeking to build high-performance applications.
Here’s a simplified example of how a developer might interact with Solana’s network using its API:
```javascript const solanaWeb3 = require(‘@solana/web3.js’); const connection = new solanaWeb3.Connection(solanaWeb3.clusterApiUrl(‘mainnet-beta’), ‘confirmed’);
async function getLatestBlockhash() { let latestBlockhash = await connection.getLatestBlockhash(); console.log(‘Latest Blockhash:’, latestBlockhash.blockhash); }
getLatestBlockhash(); ```
This snippet showcases the ease with which developers can integrate with Solana’s network, retrieving critical blockchain data like the latest block hash. The simplicity and efficiency of Solana’s API empower developers to build sophisticated applications without getting bogged down by the complexities often associated with blockchain development.
Comparing Solana’s Architecture with Other Blockchains
When compared to other blockchain networks like Ethereum or Binance Smart Chain, Solana’s architecture stands out for its innovative approach to scalability and speed. While Ethereum’s move towards Ethereum 2.0 and proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus aims to address its scalability issues, Solana has already implemented a unique proof-of-history (PoH) mechanism that optimizes consensus by timestamping transactions before they enter the blockchain.
This architectural difference enables Solana to achieve higher throughput and lower transaction costs, making it particularly appealing for developers focused on DeFi, NFTs, and other high-demand applications. The combination of PoH with Solana’s Tower BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance) consensus ensures that the network remains secure and efficient, even under heavy loads.
Koii: Extending Solana’s Capabilities for a Decentralized Future
Amidst these technological advancements, Koii emerges as a key player leveraging Solana’s robust architecture to push the boundaries of what’s possible in Web 3.0. Koii is built on Solana, utilizing its high throughput and low latency to power a decentralized network that rewards users for contributing resources and engaging with content.
Koii’s unique approach to decentralized computation and content delivery aligns perfectly with Solana’s scalability. By incentivizing users to contribute their spare computing resources, Koii not only extends Solana’s capabilities but also democratizes access to digital assets and platforms. This decentralized model challenges traditional profit-driven paradigms, offering a glimpse into a more equitable digital future.
Consider how Koii’s API might be used to integrate decentralized storage within a Solana-powered dApp:
```javascript const koiiWeb3 = require(‘@koii/web3.js’);
async function storeContentOnKoii(data) { let result = await koiiWeb3.storeData(data); console.log(‘Content stored with ID:’, result.id); }
storeContentOnKoii({ title: ‘Web 3.0 Article’, content: ‘Exploring the future of decentralized technologies…’ }); ```
This example demonstrates the seamless integration between Koii and Solana, where developers can store and manage content in a decentralized manner, enhancing the resilience and accessibility of their applications.
The Key Impact of Solana and Koii in Web 3.0
As Web 3.0 continues to evolve, Solana and Koii are at the forefront of driving meaningful change. Solana’s technical advancements, particularly with innovations like Firedancer, provide the necessary infrastructure for building scalable, high-performance dApps. Meanwhile, Koii extends these capabilities, offering a decentralized framework that empowers users and developers alike.
For young developers and Web 3.0 enthusiasts, particularly those in Africa, the opportunities presented by Solana and Koii are immense. As these technologies mature, they offer a pathway to not only participate in the next wave of digital innovation but to lead it. By embracing responsive design, leveraging Solana’s unparalleled scalability, and exploring Koii’s decentralized solutions, developers can create applications that not only perform but also democratize access to digital resources and opportunities.
In conclusion, as we program the future, the unassuming origins of innovations like Solana and Koii will be the catalysts for the next generation of Web 3.0 applications. These technologies promise to emancipate abundance in the digital realm, enabling a more equitable and decentralized internet for all. As with the washing machine, which quietly revolutionized domestic life, Solana and Koii are poised to drive transformative change from the ground up, reshaping how we interact with technology and each other in the process.

TREEMONISHA, BY SCOTT JOPLIN
COSTUME DESIGN FOR OPERA ADAPTATION.
Costume for Treemonisha, designed and made by Sofia Videira Pinto. Cotton and satin. The costume is hand-painted, quilted, and through the use of hidden magnets, it changes in three acts, every time revealing more colour. Figurino para Treemonisha, desenhado e confecionado por Sofia Videira Pinto. Cetim e algodão. O figurino é pintado à mão, acolchoado e, através do uso de ímanes, muda em três atos, sempre revelando um pouco mais de cor.

Costume project for my adaptation of the 1911 opera Treemonisha.
Originally taking place in rural postbellum Arkansas, in the 1880s, a clever African-American young woman, called Treemonisha, is elected the leader of her community of sharecroppers, after showing how superstition is the enemy of progress and knowledge and education constitute the brighter way forward.
My adaptation, though, places Treemonisha in a different time and setting: in the Auto City of Detroit, during the late 1920s, after the Great Migration that led farmer communities of the south finding their way north. Treemonisha is inspired by the first African-American female pilot, Bessie Coleman, and she is herself a pioneer and a pilot. Her family and friends are mechanics and factory workers, and the dark aura of superstition is perpetuated by Zodzetrick, a vicious sorcerer. Soon enough though, Treemonisha will prove the values of an open and innovative mind to her peers, and bring music, life and colour to the ones around her.
The concept behind the costumes is the one of emerging colours through the darkness. Starting mainly black, the costumes open panels each new act, that reveal bright and lively hues. By the end of the opera, the costumes evoke a victorious festival of colour. The garments and panels are hand painted and quilted, as an homage to the African-American tradition of quilting, which played an important role in the freedom and emancipation of former slaves. The sleeves and back of the jacket, as well as the trousers, resemble the shape of an aeroplane and wings, honouring both Bessie Coleman and Treemonisha as pioneers and messengers of hope; the front of the jacket resembles a book, an ode to the importance of education within the communities.
PT
