The Importance of Timely RV Glass Repair Near Me for Safety and Comfort
When it comes to your RV, the glass is not just a barrier between you and the outside world; it’s an essential part of your vehicle's structural integrity and safety. Whether it's a cracked windshield or a broken side window, timely rv auto glass repair in Phoenix is crucial for maintaining both safety and comfort on the road. Here’s why you should seek professional RV glass repair near me as soon as you notice damage.
Maintaining Structural Integrity
An RV’s windshield and windows play a key role in the vehicle's structural strength. When glass is damaged, it can weaken the overall integrity of the RV, especially in the event of an accident. A compromised windshield can lead to roof collapse in severe cases because it is part of the vehicle's overall safety framework. Repairing or replacing the damaged glass promptly ensures that your RV remains structurally sound and safe during your travels.
Preventing Further Damage
Even a small crack in the windshield can quickly worsen due to temperature fluctuations, road vibrations, or pressure. In Phoenix, where temperatures can reach extremes, cracks can expand rapidly, making the glass more vulnerable to shattering. Repairing the damage early can prevent the need for a full windshield replacement, saving you both time and money in the long run. Proactive repairs also ensure that your RV remains roadworthy and reduces the risk of further damage that could compromise safety.
Ensuring Clear Visibility
Your windshield is a vital component for clear visibility, which is essential for driving safely. Cracks or chips can obstruct your view, making it difficult to spot road hazards or navigate at night. This can be especially dangerous when driving an RV, which requires extra care and attention due to its size. Timely glass repair restores your visibility, ensuring that you can drive with confidence and reduce the risk of accidents caused by impaired sightlines.
Improving Comfort and Protection
A damaged windshield or window can also let in unwanted noise, dust, and air. Cracks can cause drafts, reducing comfort during long road trips. In Phoenix, where the heat can be intense, a cracked windshield may also let in excess sunlight, making it difficult to stay cool inside your RV. Timely repairs help maintain a comfortable environment inside your vehicle by keeping out the elements and improving the overall driving experience.
Avoiding Legal and Insurance Issues
Driving with damaged glass may violate local laws in many states, including Arizona. In some cases, your vehicle might fail an inspection, leading to fines or a citation. Moreover, insurance policies may require you to fix damages promptly to remain covered. Getting repairs done on time helps you avoid potential legal and insurance-related complications.
Timely RV glass repair is essential for both your safety and comfort. Whether it's restoring structural integrity, preventing further damage, or ensuring clear visibility, quick action can save you from costly repairs and enhance your travel experience. For the best results, always seek professional RV glass repair services near you to guarantee the quality and safety of the repair.

Essential Car Maintenance Tips for Smooth Operation and Safe Driving: Insights from Auto Glass Repair Experts in Glendale
Regular car maintenance is crucial for smooth operation, safe driving, and preventing costly repairs. Auto Glass Repair Glendale experts emphasize that even minor damages can escalate to expensive repairs or replacements if neglected. Here are essential maintenance tips to keep your car in optimal condition at all times.
Buy a Good Car:
It does not matter if you are buying a new car or a used one, you must ensure that it is good in condition. While buying a second-hand car, you should get it inspected by an expert mechanic to find out if it has any defect or not. Before you finalize the deal, you should think about doing online research about the reputation of the brand you are planning to buy.
Keep Your Car Clean:
Your car is your asset, and therefore you always need to keep it clean at any cost. The experts believe that dirt and dust cause terrible defects that you can avoid by dusting and cleaning it almost every day if possible.
Follow the User's Manual While Cleaning:
Due to big expenditure, you cannot take your car to a garage every month. You can think about cleaning it yourself. It can save you some money in the end too. However, you need to be cautious while washing the car yourself. You should follow the guidelines mentioned in the users' manual that the manufacturers provide while you buy the car. Following the instruction can be safe in every respect.
Create and Maintain a Car Repair Fund:
Usually, families do not have any separate fund for car repair. Undoubtedly, it is very significant as car defects are often very expensive. You may find it difficult to spend a large sum of money all of a sudden. Instead of finding $5000 at a time, you should create a fund and add some money to it every month to keep it grow bigger. It would be more affordable for you.
Fix Every Defect As Soon As It Occurs:
Obviously, this is the most important thing that you need to keep in your mind. You must fix all defects as soon as they occur. Never leave any defect unattended as it may intensify the problem further, and that would result in relatively serious issues and expenses. You need to be very attentive towards your car to notice the slightest of noise. If you track the faintest of sound right at the beginning, then you would be successful in saving you from serious problems.
Take Very Good Care of The Windscreen:
You must understand how important the windscreen is for you as well as your car. It is an essential accessory of the vehicle that protects the passengers inside. You may or may not know that these pieces of glass are very sophisticated. They may get shattered without giving you any warning of any kind. In such a situation, you can do nothing better than finding a reliable auto repair company that has the best technicians and infrastructure to bring you the best service for cracked windscreen repair. You must make sure that the company has expert mechanics who can handle all the technical aspects of the job. You should also check if the company has the license and active insurance policy for its technicians so that they can work to their potential. While hiring the services of the company, you should make sure that it deals with OEM quality glass, which is certainly the best quality of glass for your car.
Find the Best Repairing Companies When Needed:
Car defects are very unpredictable, and they may occur any moment. You cannot repair all defects yourself too. You, therefore, need to find a reliable auto glass repair company that has the best technicians who specialize in their own domains. However, you must remember that authorized service centers have the best facilities for their brand of cars. They have company-certified technicians who get the opportunity to work with the original spare parts. You must be aware of the fact that not all garages are reliable even if they adopt better marketing strategies to attract their customers.
Without any doubt, your car is one of the most important possessions that you may have. It is, therefore, your responsibility to keep it safe and sound so that you can obtain maximum user value from it.

Seasonal Auto Glass Repair Tips: Protecting Your Vehicle Year-Round
As the seasons change, so do the challenges your auto glass faces. From scorching summer heat to freezing winter temperatures, your car's windows and windshield are exposed to a wide range of weather conditions that can take a toll on their durability. To help you keep your auto glass in top shape throughout the year, we've compiled a set of seasonal auto glass repair tips. These tips will not only enhance the longevity of your auto glass but also ensure your safety on the road.
1. Summer Sun and Auto Glass Care
Summer can bring intense heat, and the sun's rays can be especially harsh on your auto glass. Here's how to protect your vehicle's windows and windshield during the hottest months:
Park in the shade: Whenever possible, park your vehicle in the shade to minimize exposure to direct sunlight. This can help prevent the expansion of minor cracks or chips in your auto glass due to the heat.
Use sunshades: Invest in quality sunshades for your windshield and rear window. These shields block UV rays and reduce the interior temperature, preventing heat-related stress on the glass.
Regular cleaning: Keep your auto glass clean to remove dirt, debris, and tree sap that can become baked onto the surface under the sun.
2. Preparing for Fall and Falling Debris
As the leaves change colour and fall, your auto glass may be at risk of damage from falling debris. Here's how to minimize risks in the autumn months:
Trim tree branches: Trim overhanging branches near your parking spots to reduce the chance of leaves, twigs, or falling fruit causing damage to your auto glass.
Regular inspections: Periodically inspect your auto glass for any small chips or cracks. Addressing these issues promptly can prevent them from worsening during the colder months.
3. Winter Cold and Auto Glass Care
Winter brings freezing temperatures and potential hazards like ice and road salt. Protect your auto glass during this season with these tips:
Gentle defrosting: Avoid using hot water or sharp objects to remove ice from your windshield. Instead, use an ice scraper or a specialized de-icing solution.
Proper washer fluid: Ensure your windshield washer fluid is rated for cold weather to prevent it from freezing and damaging your windshield.
Protect against road salt: Road salt can corrode your auto glass. Regularly wash your vehicle, including the windows and windshield, to remove salt residue.
4. Spring Showers and Windshield Wipers
Spring often means rain showers and good visibility is crucial. Here's how to care for your auto glass in wet conditions:
Check windshield wipers: Inspect and replace worn-out or damaged windshield wipers to maintain clear visibility during rain showers.
Apply rain repellent: Consider applying a rain-repellent treatment to your windshield, which can improve water shedding and visibility.
Your auto glass plays a crucial role in your safety on the road. By following these seasonal auto glass repair tips, you can extend the life of your auto glass and ensure clear visibility in all weather conditions. Remember that small chips and cracks can worsen over time, so address them promptly to avoid the need for costly replacements. With proper care, your auto glass will serve you well throughout the year.

Windshield Chip Repair: Tips and Advice
A small chip or crack in your windshield might seem like a minor issue, but ignoring it can lead to bigger problems. As the windshield flexes and encounters temperature changes, that tiny chip can quickly turn into an unsightly crack, obstructing your view and compromising the structural integrity of the glass. The good news is that with the right approach, many windshield chips and small cracks can be effectively repaired, saving you the hassle and expense of a full windshield replacement.
In this blog post, we'll share some valuable tips and advice to help you tackle those pesky windshield chips successfully.
Tip #1: Act Quickly
Time is of the essence when it comes to windshield chip repair. The sooner you address the issue, the better your chances of a successful fix. Aim to repair the chip within 2-3 days to prevent further spreading.
Tip #2: Invest in a Quality Repair Kit
While DIY methods are floating around the internet, your best bet is to purchase a windshield repair kit specifically designed for this purpose. These kits contain a specialized resin that can bond and seal the glass, along with the necessary tools for proper application.
Tip #3: Prepare the Surface
Proper preparation is key to a successful repair. Thoroughly clean the area around the chip or crack, removing any dirt, debris, or moisture that could interfere with the bonding process.
Tip #4: Follow the Instructions to the Letter
Each windshield repair kit comes with detailed instructions. Read them carefully and follow every step precisely. Skipping steps or rushing through the process can compromise the repair's effectiveness.
Tip #5: Apply Consistent Pressure
Most repair kits include a tool or pedestal that applies pressure to the chip while the resin cures. Consistent pressure is crucial for the resin to bond properly with the glass.
Tip #6: Allow Ample Curing Time
Patience is a virtue when it comes to windshield chip repair. The resin needs time to fully cure and bond with the glass, typically 6-12 hours. Resist the temptation to rush the process, as this can lead to a subpar repair.
Tip #7: Know When to Seek Professional Help
While many chips and small cracks can be repaired at home, there are instances when it's best to leave it to the professionals. If the damage is larger than a quarter or a dollar bill, or if it extends to the edge of the windshield, it's advisable to have it professionally repaired or replaced.
Tip #8: Consider Safety First
If the chip or crack falls within the driver's critical viewing area, even a successful repair may not be sufficient. In such cases, replacing the entire windshield for optimal safety is generally recommended.
By following these tips and taking the time to repair windshield chips properly, you can extend the life of your windshield, save money, and ensure a safe driving experience. Remember, a little preventative maintenance can go a long way in avoiding larger, more costly repairs down the line.

BSD Untold Origins: Anime VS Novel (3)
Quickly trying to finish episode 1 crumbs before new ep ;w; Last part of ep 1 is the theatre! More changes, but this time it involves a lot of the side characters' uhh personalities- Note; i haven't seen the preview for ep 2
Season 4 and light novel spoilers!
Gifs © @the-chikyuu-times
Episode 1 (Part 1) - (Part 2)
Episode 2 (Part 4)
"A theater?" "Yes." The deep-blue evening sky hung over them as they stood before the rectangular theater building. [...] There was a stone monument installed in the wall with the words THEATRUM MUNDI carved into it. Ranpo frowned melodramatically. "This looks so boring." "The owner here is short on staff. If all goes well, then we can probably get you a job." "What did the client hire you for anyway?" "A death threat." Fukuzawa began to walk toward the entrance. Ranpo soon jogged after him. -Page 98
THEATRUM MUNDI or 'World Theatre' is a kind of puppetry show, it can be either comprehended as the mechanical puppet plays or viewing the meaning 'puppet' as 'everyone is playing a role in the world'. A play listed on Wikipedia example (The Great Theater of the World by Pedro Calderón de la Barca):
This particular play's form called Autos sacramentales which has human characters playing as Death, Faith, Sin, Hope, ect. aka giving each allegories a personification. (that's enough art history for today *flops to floor*)
After going through the service entrance in the back, Fukuzawa walked down the staircase to the basement, where the theater owner greeted him. "So?" the owner demanded casually. "What's your excuse for being late?"
The owner was a woman in a suit, probably around Fukuzawa's age- With her chest held out and her arms crossed before her hips, she looked up at Fukuzawa with a defiant gaze. She seemed to have a tic where she would push up her glasses every few moments or so. Her wiry black-framed glasses were shaped like acute triangles. "My apologies, Ms. Egawa." [...] "Sigh. It's fine." -Page 98
Egawa's character went through some changes in the anime version. In light novel she's more ansty, doesn't have most of the confidence/professional feeling she has in anime, easily calling Ranpo from 'uninvited guest' to 'brat', and then Ranpo quickly starts exposing her uhh relationships with people, buying clothes and stuff but not taking care of her hands and nails, necklace that wasn't a gift, about to mention her former relationship when Fukuzawa stops Ranpo.
Different reactions to Fukuzawa's question(s).
"[...] 'Angels'? 'V'? This death threat is ridiculous. I'll bet it's one of the rival theaters trying to hurt the business." -Page 99
"Whatever. Just do your job!" barked Ms. Egawa, trying not to sound flustered. "I like what I do! Ugh! I've had enough of this. I seriously just can't catch a break..." She stomped off, quickly clicking her heels down the entrance hall as she left. [...] -Page 101
Murakami ('Tokio' isn't mentioned when addressing him until the play) has more changes too. He acts more impatient, even bossy towards Fukuzawa in light novel. Anime still shows it slightly, but he sounds more tired than someone on the verge of patience (and it will actually makes sense later).
[...] He was sitting in his private dressing room while religiously reading over his lines. "Uh? Excuse you." The handsome young man lifted his head up from the script and frowned. "What do you want? It's almost showtime, and I'm reading over my script." There was no one else in the room. Perched on the edge of his seat, the young man angrily threw the script to the side. "The show is about to begin. Do you have any idea how it feels to be an actor right before a performance?" Fukuzawa didn't respond. "We dive into the world - become other people. And we practive nearly a year for this moment. If you get in my way, you're dead." [...] "I'm thirsty. Fetch me some water, will you?" [...] After a closer look, the young man appeared to be somewhat pale. Slightly dark bags hung under his nervous-looking eyes as well. -Page 102-103
"Die of boredom"...? Fukuzawa quietly covered his face. Bringing Ranpo with him was a mistake. He'd thought that leaving Ranpo in the lobby was a disaster waiting to happen, but this wasn't any better. He said all the wrong things. Surely the actor was going to blow his lid and stop talking to them entirely... At least, that was what Fukuzawa thought. "It's boring, huh? Well, if a brat like you says so, then it's gonna be," answered Murakami with a solemn expression. [...] "Hey, brat. What would make the play interesting to you?" "To me? Hmm..." [...] "It'd be pretty neat if one of the actors got killed during the performance just like the death threat said." A chill ran down Fukuzawa's spine. "Ha! An appropriately bratty answer." But Murakami cheerfully smirked. "If that's what the people want, then maybe giving it to them wouldn't be such a bad idea." [...] "Obviously, I don't plan on dying." Murakami faced Fukuzawa. "But as someone in show business, you think about these things. 'Would you take your life in order to achieve the ultimate performance?'... I would. Without a doubt. The only reason I haven't is because nobody has come up to me and offered to teach me the secret of acting in return for someone's life...yet. [...] " -Page 104-105
The dresser room scene is the same pretty much. Anime added a few details like the (possible) taxi driver's cameo from season 1, and a funny moment with Ranpo and the actress.
Fukuzawa has more inner monologuing, worrying he doesn't have the power to protect everyone in the theatre. Ranpo startles Fukuzawa out of his thoughts and events happen again similarly in light novel. The short scene when Fukuzawa looks away from the newspaper is a tiny added detail.
"An angel shall bring death, in the truest sense of the word, to the performer. - V." "Why didn't you say anything before?" asked Fukuzawa. "What good would that have done?" Ranpo replied as if he was offended. "You're all adults. Do something about it yourself. What good is asking a kid what he thinks is going to happen? Beside, everyone gets mad when I state the truth."
Was he talking about everything that had happened to him since he came to Yokohama? There was darkness in his eyes. "Seriously, adults don't make any sense to me." [...] "If a kid like me was able to figure it out, then surely you and the police already noticed a long time ago, right? My mother never got tired of telling me, 'You're still just a kid.' And I agree with her. [...]"
"You're still just a kid." Of course you don't understand adults. Because adults are smarter than you. Is that what she meant? It's not hard to understand why Ranpo's parents drilled that into his head, at least to a certain degree, and yet... [...] This kid didn't know anything. He had no idea that most people have no idea what's going on. - Page 110
Only after growing do people learn that others are different - [...]. They assume everyone thinks the same as they do, which often leads to conflict. That was what it meant to be human. Ranpo, still naive, may have fallen into that trap, but he did not deserve to be blamed. Nevertheless, Ranpo was an extreme case. Although he possessed such extraordinary powers of observation, he didn't think he was special. Why? Was it his parents' fault? Was it because he lived a sheltered life with parents who had minds that rivaled his? -Page 111
Random comment here from me is just that I really like how Untold Story/Origins expresses Ranpo's confusion through the whole book, a 'truth-seeing genius' who's living in a (fabricated) world view where everything can be deduced with logic and observation. Probably one of the reasons he's so bad with public transportation because schedules can change any time and reason. It can also count as a part of the 'adult world', where thoughts are not as expressed as an imaginary mind, the set rules real world brings in in contrast to imagination with endless possibilities.
"[...] When you sat down at the café, you unconsciously made sure to sit with the wall to your right, so you used to practice swordsmanship as well. After all, if the wall was on the left side, you wouldn't be able to swiftly draw your sword if something happened. You sat where the entrance was visible, which shows me you've seen your fair share of carnage in your lifetime. The reason why you barely make any noise even while walking on the hard theater floors is that you've trained for street and indoor combat. And the reason why you started to walk with one eye closed a little before we went through the unlit service entrance was so that you could immediately see your surroundings the moment you stepped into the darkness. In other words, you're trained for ambushes in dark places." Fukuzawa could feel his body gradually get colder, He slowly lost the feeling in his toes. His throat dried and tensed up as his palms began to sweat. "[...] A bodyguard's job is to protect people, so you wouldn't need to sneak around in the dark without making a sound. You quit your previous job, but you weren't working in the shadows to kill people for money like that hit man from earlier. You made that clear when you didn't show any real emotion when you talked about assassins. Plus, you didn't seem to be on your guard when you talked to the police. [...]" Fukuzawa felt an intense pain in his chest. His throat was so dry he could scarcely breathe. Everything was flickering red and black. - Page 111-112
"Shut up!" Fukuzawa exploded. As if his spirit were physically gushing into the room, the glass shook, the lights clicked, and the theater employee walking in the distance let out a slight yelp. Martial arts masters employed a similar phenomenon when they attached with their chi. Being right next to him, Ranpo took the brunt of Fukuzawa's unconscious yet fiery attack. After being pushed back a few steps, Ranpo fell on his rear as he if had been hit with a large invisible mallet. He blinked, still sitting, with a perplexed expression. The master class-level chi energy attack had knocked him unconscious for a second. Fukuzawa suddenly returned to his senses, albeit startled.
"Sorry... You all right?" He approached Ranpo and helped him up. "Buh...?" Ranpo was still idly blinking. Fukuzawa was overcome with sense of shame. It was inexcusable for a martial arts master to use what could be considered condensed bloodlust on an ordinary person. It was evidence of just how disturbed Fukuzawa was. [...] -Page 113
(I feel like) Fukuzawa was so much more upset than it's showed (it was still great tho, poor Ranpo;;;; ). Fukuzawa's offer to Ranpo happened right before Ranpo's observation of Fukuzawa, so the novel continues with both he and Ranpo having barely any time to recover before the bell rings, signaling the beginning of the play.
"Don't... talk about that," Fukuzawa finally managed to say. "I get it now. You're the real thing." No secrets were safe in Ranpo's presence, but he had no idea he was special, which was exactly why this wasn't the time to be getting worked up. There had to be a way to get Ranpo to recognize his abilities; Fukuzawa would need to think of something. [...] "Come on." Fukuzawa grabbed Ranpo, whose eyes were still glazed over, and headed toward the door to the auditorium. He would have Ranpo observe the stage. The boy might be able to figure something out that way. Thoughts raced through Fukuzawa's jumbled mind. He still felt on edge. Having his secret known startled him, and he was taken aback by Ranpo's powers of observation. But was that it? It was as if something else lurked in the depths of Fukuzawa's uneasiness - something he was in no place to deal with right now. - Page 114

It’s a new year! Here are some tips from a shithead adult for times of financial insecurity
Don’t do car loans. Save up and buy a beater in full
Be up front with your mechanic about your financial situation. Also on this point never go to a dealership for your mechanic needs. Go to some guy named Jerry who’s old enough to be your Grampa who’s certified to do state/provincial safeties. Those guys will know people for body work/glass work as well and usually have used tires laying around they can sell you for cheap
If you’ve got a bill that’s a little higher than you expected you’re gonna do two things. First thing you’re gonna do is go out and get a second job. Call centres are great for this because most of the time you’ve got a month of 9-5 above minimum wage paid training. Find out when your first sustantial pay from that job is gonna be and call whichever entity you owe money. Tell them to expect a payment the week after that substantial pay. This gives you time in case your payroll gets fucked up. Pay the bill as soon as you get the money on your account and then hand in your resignation for the job you took. It’s a labour shortage right now and you can take advantage of that.
Have a second bank account that’s bare bones. Most banks have a no-fee option that just houses money and comes with around 15 free transactions a month. Do not have any payments come out of this account. This is going to be your oopsie account if your other account gets overdrawn by a bill you forgot about. Put any amount you can afford to spare into this account every pay. This is a break in case of emergency fund for gas/food/meds that your hope should always be to never use. This is also good if you ever need to borrow money when you’re really up shit’s creek. The last thing you want is for the money you’ve been sent for survival to be sucked up by the void of an overdrawn bank account. This would be the time where I tell you that if you have auto deposit on for your etransfer you need to turn that shit off.
Put all bill payments on your phone calendar and have alerts the week before they come out and the day before they come out. Have the amount in the title of the event as well rounded up.
If you have a car, put 100 bucks away per month in a piggy bank or something. This way your safety for your car or any sort of vehicular issues will be less financially debilitating.
Pirate media/have a way of playing physical media. You can get DVDs at the thrift for pretty cheap and subscription services are fucking extortionate.
If you have any power over your work schedule at all, take a business day to be part of your weekend. I used to say that I worked at “my other job” on Mondays and Tuesdays so I could have those days off reliably. This is good for getting your unpleasant yet mandatory tasks done. Things like calling any sort of government offices, going to the doctor, the bank, etc. this will make planning those things a hell of a lot easier. Make sure to assert that you cannot work those days at all via something entirely made up but also important sounding (ie having another job, taking a made up relative to appointments)
Pick a bill that can be the first to go in financially insecure times. This is something that you can live without and won’t have a ton of fees and interest tacked on if you’re late. For me, mine is my phone bill. I can comfortably live without my phone and the late fees are usually manageable. On the other side of the coin, I cannot live without paying my car insurance as I need my car to get to work and a fine for driving without insurance is hefty and avoidable.
Find out where you get discounts based on your work, your insurance, your bank, that kind of thing. I know that at Shell stations in Canada you can use your CAA card to get money off per litre. Other things would be points cards. Again, in Canada your PC Optimum points (Grocery Baron In-Game Currency) can majorly add up over time and can make a huge difference in eating or not eating sometimes.
Keep in contact with your professional references. If you’re not in contact with professional references, have a couple friends you trust to be those professional references. Text them before you give their numbers away explaining what their position was and what company they worked for with you. If they ask you for references, chances are you’ve got the job anyway, the references are just a formality 9 times outta 10.
Avoid monetizing your hobbies. This will make that hobby a job and not a hobby and can end up making something you enjoy doing to unwind a burden.
On your resume, you’re only going to have jobs you left on good terms. Burn all the bridges you want, just don’t leave a paper trail. I’ve left jobs by simply disappearing to another province without so much as a text. The last thing you want is the hiring manager to call the place that presumed you dead asking about you. I don’t care if you learned valuable skills there, don’t put it on your resume if you left in a negative way.
Have reloadable gift cards to keep you accountable to budgets. As an example I’ll put 20$ on my Tim’s card per pay so my monkey brain has a fucking limit. I do the same for gas because I like driving around and listening to music but if I’ve only got 100$ per pay for gas, I will likely not speed run my carbon footprint like that.
It’s fucking rough out there dog this is just what I’ve been doing to try and keep myself sane. Feel free to add other things on cuz like fuck dude I’m open to suggestions

🛠🍷🥰
Wow, that's a huge glass of wine! Thank you (for the ask, not for the drink lol)!
(But also, thank you for the drink.)
🍷 Do you drink and write?
Usually not, but sometimes it's fun. There's this very particular type of creativity only red wine can unlock. Other drinks only make me sleepy, not creative.
Always edit sober, though! :D
🥰 How do you feel about reader interaction? Are you open to receiving questions about your fics?
Y E S! My comments on AO3 are unrestricted on all fics, please go ahead and ask whatever you want to know about any of them. I'm not looking for constructive criticism, though. (But if you find a typo or a punctuation fail, please do let me know lol. It shouldn't happen with multiple layers of spell and grammar checkers, but sometimes I add something last second before hitting "publish", and sometimes my brain is not braining while I do so.)
🛠 What tools/programs/apps do you use to write?
Sit down and enjoy that glass of wine, this'll take a while... xD
For spontaneous short fics (and for plot bunnies that came out of nowhere), I use Google Docs. It's great because it auto-saves, and I can access my docs on any device.
Then I have Scrivener for fics that require a bit more planning or are more than just one scene.
I made different templates for the different kind of fics I usually write (and should I ever feel like I'm 100% happy with my ever-evolving templates, I'll happily share them!); and it's perfect to organise and keep all plot bunnies in check.
How was I ever able to live without the Corkboard and without being able to shuffle scenes and around like index cards? I love this fucking Corkboard, I love the binder, I love that I have a template that groups all "Save the Cat!" plot beats into the three acts of the three-act structure. And my god, do I love that I'm also able to customise the theme of my Scrivener and turn it into a pastel rainbow. Absolute eye candy! <3
I very recently treated myself to Scrivener for iOS, and I'm so happy that I did! Again, Google Docs is great for some quick note-taking, but being able to add a new index card to my WIP's Corkboard wherever I am? Priceless!
For mind maps, I use Scapple. It's from the same company that makes Scrivener, Literature & Latte. Good to organise thoughts, not necessarily a must-have. There are free mind map tools out there. I just want to support Literature & Latte.
I also use voice-to-text, because that's something that really helps me whenever I feel like I can't write. The words are there, the stories are there, but I can't fucking write them down for whatever reason.
After experimenting with different free options (let me know if you're interested in my thoughts on them and which I would recommend), I settled for Nuance Dragon Professional 16, the best dictation software on the market, but also fucking expensive. I don't regret this. It's probably overkill if you're only using it for fanfic.
I don't use the mobile version, Dragon Anywhere, because it's a subscription based service now, and fuck that. It's probably really awesome and all, but I am not paying €150 per year for this.
So, to save money, I use my €1,000 dictation software with the free dictation app ALON Dictaphone to dictate chapters or scenes on my phone. There are probably better apps out there, but I've been using this one for more than ten years and I like it. You can organise your voice notes with labels, so you always know which fic they belong to. It also synchs with all cloud services out there (I use it with my free Dropbox), and I can access the files on my laptop when I need them. Dragon 16 can transcribe these files without playing them, which is really nice, because a) I don't have to listen to my own voice and b) I can do something else on my laptop and don't have to stay quiet while it's transcribing.
For spelling and grammar, I use LanguageTool. The free plan offers all I need, and it integrates with Google Docs and my browser. The best thing about it is that you can choose which English accent to write in, and it will tell you if an expression you used belongs to a different accent and offer you an alternative.
For a quick final edit, I use ProWritingAid and Hemingway Editor. I like that you can choose the genre in PWA. I dismiss a lot of their suggestions, though. There's a reason I chose passive voice for this one sentence, dammit! xD
AutoCrit also offers interesting editing tools. I'll give it a go at one point, but for now I've only played around with the example text a little.
So, yeah. That's basically it, I think.
