1. bisexual i dont even care he is so bisexual its insane.

2. autistic (i swear i could say this about any of the characters, but its so real). Although id say hes sensory seeking when it comes to sound (metal music enjoyer- me too man), after a concert the crowd to exit was just way too much, so he is loop earplugs no.1 fan; he gets overstimulated pretty easy. Even as he got older he still used them, as the fbi isnt exactly a calm or quiet place, so he uses them frequently and loves how subtle they are. Sometimes when hes overstimulated he is sooo prone to having a verbal shutdown where he just…cant talk. usually he likes to be alone and isolate himself, but hes learnt through booth that it’s counterproductive so booth will sit with him quietly until its over, and he does the same for booth- its a mutual agreement that they never discuss, it just happens. I also think later on aubrey would sit with him too (im an aubrey-sweets friendship truther at heart). He’s potentially got adhd too? im undecided on that one.

^also!!! during school he 100% had a small seperate room to take exams in and thats so me projecting i just see it.

3. folklore enjoyer. his favourite song is cardigan, he is so cardigan coded its not even funny. He totally hides the fact hes listened to it for years, but he loves it so much. (me)

4. he is perks of being a wallflower. like…that is him!! maybe im just projecting, but please charlie is so him and he is so charlie. im insane about this for real, i cant even articulate it.

5. im like 90% sure hes trans ftm, thats just like a small idea that sits in the back of my brain. (also adds up why his name is lance and his favourite tv show was the og voltron…i too was a victim of fictional character name theft, and werent we all).

6. this doesnt need explanation, but he 100% still listens to metal music. he cant even deny it, its just a fact.

7. He really struggled to think about his future when he was a kid. He spent so long living in an environment where he had to fight for his survival on the daily, that he just couldnt picture himself having a future. Even once he was adopted by his parents his heart sank at the idea that he would have to have a future and he had no way of comprehending that he would make it that far. That was until he found psychology, he originally looked into it to try and understand himself and give him support during school and social situations, but he found it fulfilling in a way he had never experienced before (first special interest joy!!). Thats when he knuckled down at school and finally found a way he wanted to go in life.

Nondespair Ishimondo Timeline

Okay okay so I'm gonna like just go here im gonna just type im gonna go bananas but this is the ishimondo au that lives in my head

The Trauma

So let me set up the family dynamics okay. mondo has a shit dad and a decent mom but she ends up going to jail for killing the dad in self defense. Daiya is his half brother and his mom is said mom from earlier and mondo doesnt actually know his real mom, but that doesnt matter because she loves him like her own. So the brothers are on their own for awhile (re: dad is dead and mom in jail) and they start the gang. You know how this story goes of course; except this time, daiya LIVES (good for him!) and becomes disabled in the accident. This ties into some themes of ableism i've kinda added to the story on mondos part both internal and external. mondo is also really hurt in the accident, leaving basically everything on his left side really fucked up from being pushed onto the street by a moving bike. he Ignores This and its Bad For Him

Taka has decent parents but his grandfather was bad bad bad; his mom passed away when he was young but he remembers her very fondly and still has some items of hers. He was diagnosed with autism and adhd basically as soon as you can be and he diagnosed himself with gay relatively early on as well. He was pretty bullied at his old school, but spends much of his time there as it was better then being at home with his grandfather. he even worked to get scholarships for room and board at his high school, partially for that reason and partially to lessen the strain on his father.

High School

Okay so the meet of this is going to be in my 57k fanfic AYSCAWBHAY, but some of the gist is mondo coming to terms with being neurodivergent (audhd, dyslexia, and bpd isnt mentioned explicitly but i got a lot of people saying they felt seen as people with bpd by mondos portrayal and i honestly LOVE that headcanon and wish i thought of that) and kiyotaka and mondo navigating dating and ableist and homophobic society and trauma etc etc also friends!!

Future

KIYOTAKA RANCH TRUTHER i love kiyotaka becoming a farmer soso much but i think he also volunteers at the school a lot. Mondo is a carpenter and builds their ranch and its very cute but he also helps out with the animals. He finally comes to terms with his disabledness and gets a service dog (a poodle named charlie) and it helps a ton. Daiya rebuilds his bike and tricks it out so its accessible and also becomes a tattoo artist and worlds best uncle because ISHIMONDOS ADOPT A KID her name is Kisa (<yes she IS based on the character from fruits basket i have no shame) shes nonverbal autistic and is sensitive to loud noises which is at first definitely an adjustment for the VERY LOUD dads. taka bonds with her because he knows sign language and can understand getting overwhelmed by noise sometimes and she bonds with mondo because he does her hair and styles it in fun ways and lets her dye it. She loves fashion and is bullied in school but that ends when her big scary dad shows up on a motorcycle and her other scary dad joins the pta.

In summary: they live in my mind and its my city now

My own takes (sexuality and neurodivergence/mental health when applicable, some are similar to OP’s):

Steve is Bi and gender fluid (Stevie/Steve, He/Him and She/Her), also dyslexic and HoH/deaf (I mean c’mon, all those concussions?)

Eddie is Ace and panromantic, with ADHD and anxiety

Robin is lesbian (obvs💖) and autistic with anxiety

Nancy is also bi (“doesn’t everyone feel attraction to both sexes? No? Oh okay” I feel like that’s the gist of her coming to terms with her sexuality), with some OCD or at least OCD-tendencies

Billy is gay

Max is bi and a Demi-girl (they/she)

Lucas is bi

Will is gay with severe anxiety and/or PTSD (feel free to lmk if And/Or is not appropriate)

Mike is gay (sorry Bi-Mike truthers, personally I think El was his attempt at (being?) comphet (still new to the term comphet so my apologies if I used it wrong)) with ADHD, PTSD and depression

Dustin has autism and ADHD and is Ace. I get Charlie Weasley vibes from him. Dragons vs demo-dogs tho. A+++

El/Jane is lesbian or questioning still, she hasn’t had much exposure to actual romance besides Mike I think. She needs to explore what she wants out of a relationship instead. Also PTSD (but who could have done/seen the things she has and not come out without some sort of trauma)

Jonathan is bi and has autism and depression

Argyle is pansexual

Joyce and Hopper are the token straight Allies who would do anything to protect these kids. Hopper has some PTSD and Joyce has severe anxiety issues (though that is canon), and maybe also ADHD (hyper fixates, like the magnets in S3 for example)

Jonathan and Argyle kissed at least once, Nancy and Robin have the hots for each other, Steddie is AT LEAST one sided, if not reciprocated, Eleven is not ready for a relationship and shouldn’t have one (yet at least) and is ace. Max is non-binary, Lucas is bisexual, Eddie is gay, Steve, Mike and Nancy are also Bi, Argyle, Dustin and Eleven are Pan. The characters in this show are not straight. Why? Because I fucking said so.
