*author's notes
‘sup. i'm cat, and this section will contain specific sidenotes about my portrayal. i will continue to add to this little by little.
01. this isn’t really a portrayal note as much as it’s a general blog note: i write a lot on this blog. i like to explore the inner workings of rick’s mind. rick is more than just a leader. he has human impulses, feelings, and opinions just like the others. the difference is that rick chooses if/when to act on and/or express these things. he has spent his life holding himself to an impossibly high standard of righteousness. this blog was created with the intention of fleshing out the darker side of rick: the decline of his faith, his struggle with morality, and his determination to maintain hope in spite of it. therefore, i prefer longer threads. if you don’t, i don’t suggest writing with me.
02. rick is a dilf, maybe more than he is in the show. a lot of my descriptions will reference his kids. the quickest way to make him go feral is to threaten carl or judith. don't talk to him or his son or his daughter ever again.
03. portrayal primarily occurs between season 4 and season 5. obvi will write other seasons and verses ( i am caught up until the last few episodes of the finale ) but that is my default rick. i would like to incorporate some aspects of the comic books, but i’m not far enough in to make this determination for certain.
04. pre-apocalypse rick internalized everything. this is what he does at baseline. i feel like this is a very prominent theme in him and lori’s marriage. getting him to talk about his feelings can sometimes feel like pulling teeth ( depending on who you are and what your relationship is to him ). he’s also not one to explode in arguments unless his patience has worn incredibly thin, which takes time. i imagine this is why lori felt like their marriage was passionless at times.
