Summary:  

When Dean happens upon a documentary about surfing, he finds himself captivated by the mysterious surfer known only as the Angel. He wants to be as free as the Angel looks gliding across the waves.

But it turns out surfing is harder than he thought. His first attempt almost becomes his last, but a cute passerby drags him out of the water. Dean isn’t one to give up, though: on surfing or on tracking down his hot savior.

Cas left behind surfing years ago, going as far as to fake his own death to escape his father. His time as prodigy surfer the Angel was not a happy one and Cas has no interest in revisiting that part of his life—or at least he didn’t until Dean strolls onto his beach and brings it all roaring back into his life.

Excerpt: 

Dean twists one more time and kicks towards the light, knowing in his heart he won’t make it. Dark spots cloud his vision.

A hand breaks the surface, grabbing him tightly and tugging him roughly out of the water.

He breathes in, coughing desperately as his mystery rescuer wraps an arm around him, pulling him towards the shore.

Dean’s too busy trying to suck in lungfuls of oxygen to do much of anything else.

He feels himself half carried half dragged onto the sand.

A face appears above him, haloed by the midday sun.

Dean feels his heart skip when his gaze finds two of the bluest eyes he’s ever seen—even bluer than the ocean that dragged him to California only to try and kill him.

Blue Eyes is scowling down at him which is, Dean’s still recovering brain manages to note, extremely hot.

“What the hell were you thinking? You could have died. You would have died if I didn’t happen to be passing by.”

Absolutely incredible. This was the first fic I came across roughly eight years ago. It altered my brain chemistry irrevocably. It is so full of everything: love, hate, young excitement, coming of age, confusion and miscommunication, and firsts of every kind. It is just incredible. This fic is the very definition of soul healing and comfort when nothing else will help. I still return to it from time to time whenever I need a pick me up. When I need a laugh, it is there. When I need a good cry, it is there. When I need something sweet to heal my inner child, it is there. This author perfectly encapsulated the chaos of growing up and finding love in the places you least expect it.

Unfortunately for Dean, they’re meeting up in a dive bar that just happens to be the local haunt of his ex, Rhonda Hurley. Even worse, Cas and Claire neglected to mention the hunter they’re meeting is Annie Hawkins, one time lover to Dean (not to mention Sam and Bobby).

But that’s okay, because Dean figures they’ll get the details of the case and head out. What he doesn’t know is the monster is targeting women, and may be specifically going after women who are into, well, women. So they need Annie AND she needs a girlfriend for this to work. Enter Rhonda Hurley, looking to get out of town and willing to play fake girlfriend for awhile to help her old friend. And it isn’t like Dean can send a civilian and a hunter he had to bury once into a dangerous situation alone. 

So it looks like they’re all headed on an awkward family vacation.

Anna's skin prickles as she feels the gaze of the demon known as Meg Masters rake across her skin. The scrutiny makes her want to squirm, but she keeps her vessel stock still, blade at the ready in her hand.

“You know why I'm here,” Anna says flatly. “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.”

Meg slides off the stool, deftly grabbing the half-full glass of amber liquid as she stands. She leaves the bottle - presumably the source of her libations - on the otherwise empty bar.

At least her hideout is deserted.

Anna's under strict orders not to involve humans. Had the demon selected somewhere more populated, things could have gotten complicated.

Meg smirks over her glass.”Oh, I never do things the easy way if someone's willing to give it to me hard. What d’ya say, feathers? How about a little fun before you drag me back to prison?”

The room is empty except for a table in the middle sporting a red velvet cloth with - predictably enough to make Mary want to roll her eyes - a crystal ball.

She'd turn on her heel and go right back home if this so-called psychic hadn't been vouched for personally. Lata is rarely wrong about these things.

Besides, she's desperate.

“Hello?” Mary calls out, resigning herself to an afternoon of woo woo faux-mysticsm. If she could sit through Carlos’ acid trips, she can make it through this.

A beaded curtain, which coincidentally looks it belongs in the aforementioned friend's van, parts and a woman steps into the light.

“Mary Winchester, if you weren't so stubborn you could have been here days ago, but of course you can't possibly ask for help.”

Mary's mouth drops open and she hurriedly slams it shut.

She'd expected some middle-aged hippie-esque woman in an outdated flowing dress and maybe an entire department store’s worth of scarves.

Instead, the woman in front of her has soft, bedroom eyes and curves accentuated by her jeans and cardigan. Mary's eyes follow them, and hunger twists in her gut.

She's so stunned, it takes her a moment to process what the woman - presumably Missouri Moseley, purveyor of this fine establishment - actually said.

Suspicion tugs at her brain, the old hunter instinct practically screaming. “How do you know who I am? Who told you I was coming?”
