Summary:  When humans die with unfinished business, they find themselves still roaming the earth. Angels aren’t so lucky. 

Trapped in an all-too familiar world with no memories, Castiel travels through his past, determined to discover what—or who—is calling him out.

Excerpt:

The angels are still there, apparitions no less enticing than when he first laid eyes on them, except that now the magic is trying to weave its spell again. It’s low, stroking gently against the remains of his grace, but it’s a familiar song. Not quite one of rest—he doesn’t think he’s ever done that—but an end. It’s telling him that the battle is over, the time has come to put away his blade and wait, dormant, until the next time he is called.  

It’s tempting, certainly, but there’s an underlying thread of wrong, an awareness that somewhere between the singing angels and the sleeping guard that he shouldn’t want to sleep. The urgency of the chick’s cry has seeped into his vessel’s bones, and he is determined to act on the curiosity that draws him to it. His own hunger is no longer the highest concern. There’s a hungry child in need, and in his mind’s eye, there’s food for the taking.
