Jos is any day a better T20 batsman than VK. VK has got more records, but the impact Jos has is unparalleled
HAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry but
HAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣
I'm curious, what exactly is considered "impact"? How about being the highest run-scorer of 2 T20 World Cups? How about being the player of the tournament in consecutive T20 World Cups? Virat did that. You know what else he did? India played 6 knockout matches between 2014 and 2024. Virat has made a half century or more than that in 5 out of those 6 matches. That's just shy of 400 runs in 6 matches. It makes his average in T20 WC knockout matches over 90. If that's not impactful, I don't know what is.
Is impact related to strike rate? Virat scored 70 off 29 against West Indies, 94 in some 50 odd balls against WI, and his century against Afghanistan came in 52 balls. The first knock has a strike rate of over 200. Virat chased down 48 off the last 3 overs against Pakistan at the MCG in 2022 and 39 off the last 3 overs against Australia at Mohali in 2016. The latter was a virtual quarter final, and Virat's knock guaranteed India's progress to the semi finals.
Is impact related to hitting sixes? Well, for all that Jos is a renowned six-hitter, it was Virat's six against Haris Rauf at the MCG was declared the shot of the century by ICC. An equation that read 28 off 8 became 16 off 6. It was Virat who hit the two sixes that were required to get it down till here.
Virat has time and again won matches out of nowhere for India. The Mohali 82 against Australia, the MCG 82 against Pakistan, the 72 in 2014 SFs vs South Africa, I can go on and on here-- Heck, Virat was most of the, if not the sole reason that India got as far as they did in the 2014, 2016 and 2022 editions of the T20 World Cup. He is a massively impactful player, who delivers whenever needed. Even yesterday's final, take Virat's 76 out of the equation and we had only a 100 on the board to defend. I doubt even Jasprit could have done much with that.
Virat ended his career in T20s as unquestionably the best T20 player of this generation. Nobody comes close to having the kind of impact he does on the game. He carried India in almost every single T20 World Cup he played, and nobody deserved to lift that trophy as much as he did.
I did not intend this as an insult to Jos. He is a great player, one of the very best to have played the game, but he's not better than Virat. Nope, sorry, he isn't. And it isn't limited to Jos either. There isn't any player in the world, not Rohit, not Warner, not Babar, not Maxwell, no nobody in this generation comes close to having the kind of class, poise and impact of Kohli in T20s.
People are allowed differing opinions - sure, the stats say Virat but in terms of coming in when the team needs and changing the game momentum Jos is one of the best at having an impact
Numbers aren’t always everything, I think is the point the original ask was making. And honestly, looking at the tournament that just concluded, VK really only made an impact in the final, whilst Jos was a lynchpin to a lot of England’s batting innings.
Not saying you’re wrong and - as I said - everyone has opinions and it’s great they’re different because it allows us to discuss thing :) But I think the original ask was talking more about match impact than stats. There is a reason he was RR’s impact batsman for the IPL this year.

Ind vs Pakistan 2023 Asia Cup Super 4
Cricket Journals
An account of Virat Kohli’s 77th century :
India vs Pakistan, what is it, it is an emotion attached to all the cricket supporters around the world, be it India, Pakistan, England, or Australia, it is cherished and remembered all over the world. And what does it feel like when your favorite player scores a century in that match, well it feels delighted, a moment to cherish, celebrate and to remember all your lifetime and let me tell you one interesting story of such kind of an event. It was 2023, an amazing year for all cricket fans in the world because we have the ODI World Cup, Asia Cup, WTC Final and many more series such as The Ashes, Ind vs South Africa and many more. But there is one more thing that is wanted by all cricket fans and we have it three times and who knows four times this year. The cherish able, always remembered, India vs Pakistan. Two times in the Asia cup and one time in the ODI World cup, we will witness this amazing rivalry even more this year. September 2023, and the awaited month has arrived. The Asia Cup kicked off with its initial matches. It was happening in Pakistan and Sri Lanka both as India refused to play because of political issues and many more issues which both country’s government crib about. On 2 September, we had the match in Colombo, meaning India vs Pakistan in Colombo. The match started, surprisingly according to the weather forecast, there was no signs of rain in the starting. But that match did not finish because till the finishing of India’s innings which was the first innings, there was rain, drama, and lots of sadness in every spectator’s mind because firstly India had not played well and secondly due to that rain match was abandoned and both teams shared one point each. Well, as I told there were two games so we had the fixture again on 10th September as part of the super four stage. There was rain, drama, and lots of delightfulness in this match because this match was completed and it also witnessed the run machine’s 77th century and he also completed 13,000 runs in ODI cricket. Do you know who I am referring to ?, yes Virat Kohli, my favorite player and the charm of every Indian spectator watching that game. He came in to play and replenishing all his mistakes that led to his dismissal in the last game, he smashed a well driven 122* of 94 deliveries with KL Rahul also scoring a century. They both stitched a 233-run partnership and stretched India’s score to 357 for just the loss of 2 wickets. It was an easy defend for India and dismissed the whole of Pakistan in just 128 runs and in the bowling unit, Kuldeep Yadav also took 5 wickets and bowled an excellent spell dismissing some of their key batters.
We all got the gift from Kohli, we all wanted and deserved. He played as a well accumulator and in the end accelerating to his hundred. It was a classic Kohli innings and a classic Indian win. As expected, Virat received the Man of the Match and that is all we could ask by him in the match of one of the most cherished rivalries of all time.

[ad_1] Boria Majumdar with Mohammed Siraj at the MCG (PC: Debasis Sen) Boria Majumdar in Melbourne This is my first cricket tour after serving the ban. And where better to restart than the Boxing Day Test? In fact, Tuesday’s was the first Indian practice session that I had attended in two-and-a-half years. And may I say, I enjoyed it. Observing things closely, which has always been something I have done, making my own notes and the like. In fact, as I was making notes standing right behind the net in which Ravindra Jadeja was batting, I tried explaining to a colleague how he was intent on leaving balls outside off stump. That was when Jadeja turned, and we looked at each other. He was surprised to see me, and said “Arre bhaisaab, kaise hain aap? Milte hain [How are you? We’ll meet].” The same warmth that we had always shared. We then went inside the G to do a live show. That was when India’s captain came to inspect the pitch. Seeing us do a live, Rohit Sharma’s response was spontaneous. “Welcome back! So good to see you back,” he said. As I waved at him and wished him well, he waved back and said, “Welcome to Australia. Now, come to all our games.” Rohit knows I will be the first to criticise him if he doesn’t score runs. If he looks passive as captain, I will call him out. He also knows that if he does well, I will more than put my hand up in praise. We are both doing our jobs, and that’s what creates the bond. It is all about respect and trust. That I wouldn’t go after him unfairly, and will not spare him either if he fails to deliver. None of it, however, will be done with any sort of agenda. And that’s where the mutual respect comes from. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Ravindra Jadeja at the Gabba Nets ahead of the third Test vs Australia (PC: Debasis Sen) Mohammed Siraj is another player I have shared a rapport with. Even during my ban, we had bumped into each other in Melbourne ahead of the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match, and he had invited me over for dinner. At that time, I had politely declined the invite and walked back to my hotel. When we met each other on Tuesday, it was a very pleasant interaction. I said to him this is the ground which has helped build the Siraj narrative, and he should remember what he did in 2020 when he is at the top of his bowling mark. I also said to him that he should do it one more time for his father, for he would have been happy to see Siraj steaming in for India in the most important Test match of the series. Siraj, I can vouch, will give it his best on Boxing Day. There was a kind of resolve which I observed, and maybe that’s why he was the first to come to the ground and start doing his sprints. He looked completely fit, and I did not see any kind of discomfort or niggle. For me, it was a vindication of the work done over three decades. This is where I belong and this is my comfort zone. I haven’t forgotten any of it, and none of my relationships have been impacted by the absence. I can’t wait for the Boxing Day Test, and may I say, I’m much looking forward to covering it for our RevSportz readers and viewers. The Problem With Babar Azam’s Form Across Formats
One of the most gifted young players when he first entered international cricket in 2015 was the former Pakistan captain Babar Azam. He gained notoriety for hitting three consecutive hundreds against the West Indies. Despite struggling in red-ball cricket, he established himself in white-ball cricket for the first few years. Babar is without a doubt one of the best players in ODI cricket right now. Class, elegance, and absolute splendor are the adjectives that spring to mind when one watches Babar Azam bat. In addition to his statistical accomplishments, Babar Azam has set several records over his remarkable career. He is the fastest cricketer to achieve 2,000 runs as captain and the fastest to reach 5,000 ODI runs. He was named the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2021 and 2022, and he has the third-best batting average in ODI history.
Once A Rising Star, Now A Shooting Star
Once there was a time when Babar Azam centuries kept on coming and fans declared him to be the King of Pakistani cricket. However, for a few years now, he has been struggling with this form across formats and has been facing widespread criticism regarding that. The most recent examples are the Pakistan vs Australia series and the Pakistan vs England Test series where he failed to make an impact with the bat. Babar's lackluster performance in the Pakistan vs England game sparked concerns about his consistency, which has been inconsistent across all formats. He was excused from the Pakistan Test squad just after the first match due to his poor showing in both the innings of the match which would’ve been quite humiliating for the ace batter.
Once feared by some of the world's top bowlers, Babar is currently in such poor form that he is unable to even mount a respectable defense against a side like Bangladesh. The Test series between Bangladesh and Pakistan, which was played in Pakistan earlier this year, is being referred to here. One of the factors contributing to Pakistan's humiliating series loss to Bangladesh, especially on their home soil, was Babar's poor play in that series. Since it destroyed their hopes of qualifying for the World Test Championship, it was inevitable that the batsman would be widely criticized by people all over the world, including several previous Pakistani legends.
Fans on social media and various cricket news portals heavily criticized the whole Pakistani squad, particularly Babar Azam, who was at the core of the controversy, when the team lost its first-ever Test series against Bangladesh, especially at home. At that point, Ramiz Raja, the previous head of the PCB, came up to comfort Babar and provide some insightful counsel.
"It seems the entire nation does not have a problem with anything except the form of Babar Azam. Unfortunately, what happens is when you lose a match and you have not scored runs and if you are Babar Azam, then you become a headline - How did we lose? What did he do? What was his contribution? And then this is the era of social media. Anybody can criticize and ridicule anyone, this should be discouraged as much as possible," Ramiz said on his YouTube channel.
"Cricket is in our blood but don't know for how long if we continue to lose matches like this in Test cricket. Fan following increases with wins and fans identify themselves with success stories. Babar Azam has had a famous success story. There is no doubt that he has been a big player in all three formats," he said.
"So what does he have to do? First, avoid social media. Second, stay in the moment. When you are not able to score runs, it becomes a mental game and you start second-guessing. So you start worrying and that worrisome look is evident on Babar's face. He is trying hard, so frustration will be there. What's important is how he is batting."

T20 World Cup: SA face WI in potential quarter-final; draw to play a big role in India vs NZ.
Tournament form guide: South Africa and West Indies lost both their warm-up games in the lead-up to the tournament, although South Africa's losses were more surprising. They were bowled out for 92 against New Zealand to lose by eight wickets and then couldn't get close to their target of 145 against India. West Indies' losses came against teams ranked much higher than them. They first lost to India by 20 runs and then to Australia by 35 runs, on both occasions struggling to chase down totals in the 140s.
News brief: South Africa finished as the runners-up in the 2023 T20 World Cup and will be looking to carry their form into this tournament after a 2-1 away series win against Pakistan. Despite a poor 7-14 win-loss record against West Indies, South Africa have won three of their last four T20Is against them. West Indies, too, came on the back of a 2-1 series win in Sri Lanka, although that was back in June. South Africa could go spin heavy by picking 18-year-old leg spinner Seshnie Naidu along with all rounders Chloe Tryon and Sune Luus. It's expected to be a hot afternoon in Dubai, with the temperature around 37°C at the time of the toss. It won't be much cooler even when the game ends.

Pakistan National Cricket Team Vs India National Cricket Team Timeline
India and Pakistan's cricket competition is known for being very intense and is considered one of the fiercest in sports. Not only are these teams' games the most anticipated in cricket, but they are also some of the most-watched sports events in the world. In ICC tournaments, India has a great track record, winning 11 wins in total. These are two Cricket World Cups, two T20 World Cups, and two Champions Trophies, all at the top level. Pakistan has also done well in the ICC tournament, winning five games, one in each group. In the ICC World Cup, India has won 14 games and Pakistan has only won one. There has been a lot of history and political tension between the two countries, starting with the Partition of British India in 1947 and continuing with the ongoing Kashmir dispute and several other wars between India and Pakistan. Even though they both grew up playing cricket in British colonies, these problems have made their competition much worse. Head-to-Head Match Records Examining the head-to-head records, Pakistan has always held an advantage in one-day internationals as well as test matches. This figure reflects the fierce rivalry and fair playing field these meetings usually bring. Two teams from different countries were able to show off their skills, speed, and strategic thinking in the fast-paced T20 version of the Asia Cup. Sachin Tendulkar, a legend in Indian cricket, has scored the most runs and fifties in one-day internationals between India and Australia. Saeed Anwar's amazing 194 runs in a single ODI is still the best score by an individual in a match between these two teams, showing how good the competition is. Also, Shahid Afridi has the record for the most sixes, which shows how good he is at hitting big balls. Wasim Akram, on the other hand, is the best bowler in this series, with the most catches. [ad_1] India Women getting prepared for West Indies (PC: BCCI Women/X) After a tough 3-0 loss in the ODI series against Australia, India Women return to the T20 format, eager to bounce back in a three-match series against the West Indies at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. For the hosts, it is a chance to close out a mixed year on a high note, while also laying the groundwork for the next ICC T20 World Cup. For the visitors, a team brimming with confidence after a strong World Cup showing and improved performances in 2024, it is an opportunity to break their eight-match losing streak against India. India: New Faces, Familiar Dependence India’s T20 struggles this year have been masked by decent overall results — 13 wins from 20 matches — but their shortcomings in crunch moments have cost them dearly, including a group-stage exit at the T20 World Cup. A lot will once again depend on the experienced duo of Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, having shunned Shafali Verma, the second highest scorer for India in T20Is this year. Mandhana’s recent form, capped by a century in the ODI series, makes her India’s key player, while Harmanpreet has to rise to the occasion both as a captain and a batter as the team looks to reset. The likes of Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh will need to step up in the middle order, alongside all-rounder Deepti Sharma, whose consistency remains a key asset. West Indies will also carry the confidence of doing well in Asian conditions this year. They have defeated Pakistan in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka earlier this year. Deandra Dottin’s return to international cricket has been a game-changer for them. Her ability to dominate with the bat and contribute with the ball was showcased during the T20 World Cup and her successful WBBL stint. Skipper Hayley Matthews, both an explosive opener and a reliable all-rounder, remains the backbone of this West Indian side. Without Stafanie Taylor, their experience will be tested, but players like Qiana Joseph, Shemaine Campbelle and Aaliyah Alleyne provide depth to their batting lineup, while Karishma Ramharack, Afy Fletcher and Chinelle Henry will spearhead the bowling attack. West Indies’ recent T20 form — six wins in their last eight games — will give them the belief that they can finally challenge India. Watch the Nail Biting Full Match Highlights of Aus vs Pak U19 CWC 2024
Despite Ali Raza's 4 wickets for Pakistan, Australia held their nerve, chasing down 179 with just 5 balls and 1 wicket to spare. They'll face India in the final, mirroring the men's ODI World Cup final a year ago. Earlier, Tom Straker shone with 6 wickets, restricting Pakistan to 179.
Azan Awais and Arafat Minhas top-scored with 52 runs each, but 7 other batters failed to reach double digits.
This will be the third consecutive ICC event that will see India and Australia play each other in the final. Australia beat India at the ICC World Test Championship 2023 final at the Oval and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 summit clash at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad.
This will be the eighth time that India and Australia will play each other in the final of an ICC event. Australia holds the edge over India with a 5:2 head-to-head advantage over the Men in Blue in the summit clashes of global events. However, the good news for the Indian camp is that both their wins have come in the ICC Men's U-19 World Cup finals (2012, 2018).
