Jos is any day a better T20 batsman than VK. VK has got more records, but the impact Jos has is unparalleled
HAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry but
HAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣
I'm curious, what exactly is considered "impact"? How about being the highest run-scorer of 2 T20 World Cups? How about being the player of the tournament in consecutive T20 World Cups? Virat did that. You know what else he did? India played 6 knockout matches between 2014 and 2024. Virat has made a half century or more than that in 5 out of those 6 matches. That's just shy of 400 runs in 6 matches. It makes his average in T20 WC knockout matches over 90. If that's not impactful, I don't know what is.
Is impact related to strike rate? Virat scored 70 off 29 against West Indies, 94 in some 50 odd balls against WI, and his century against Afghanistan came in 52 balls. The first knock has a strike rate of over 200. Virat chased down 48 off the last 3 overs against Pakistan at the MCG in 2022 and 39 off the last 3 overs against Australia at Mohali in 2016. The latter was a virtual quarter final, and Virat's knock guaranteed India's progress to the semi finals.
Is impact related to hitting sixes? Well, for all that Jos is a renowned six-hitter, it was Virat's six against Haris Rauf at the MCG was declared the shot of the century by ICC. An equation that read 28 off 8 became 16 off 6. It was Virat who hit the two sixes that were required to get it down till here.
Virat has time and again won matches out of nowhere for India. The Mohali 82 against Australia, the MCG 82 against Pakistan, the 72 in 2014 SFs vs South Africa, I can go on and on here-- Heck, Virat was most of the, if not the sole reason that India got as far as they did in the 2014, 2016 and 2022 editions of the T20 World Cup. He is a massively impactful player, who delivers whenever needed. Even yesterday's final, take Virat's 76 out of the equation and we had only a 100 on the board to defend. I doubt even Jasprit could have done much with that.
Virat ended his career in T20s as unquestionably the best T20 player of this generation. Nobody comes close to having the kind of impact he does on the game. He carried India in almost every single T20 World Cup he played, and nobody deserved to lift that trophy as much as he did.
I did not intend this as an insult to Jos. He is a great player, one of the very best to have played the game, but he's not better than Virat. Nope, sorry, he isn't. And it isn't limited to Jos either. There isn't any player in the world, not Rohit, not Warner, not Babar, not Maxwell, no nobody in this generation comes close to having the kind of class, poise and impact of Kohli in T20s.
People are allowed differing opinions - sure, the stats say Virat but in terms of coming in when the team needs and changing the game momentum Jos is one of the best at having an impact
Numbers aren’t always everything, I think is the point the original ask was making. And honestly, looking at the tournament that just concluded, VK really only made an impact in the final, whilst Jos was a lynchpin to a lot of England’s batting innings.
Not saying you’re wrong and - as I said - everyone has opinions and it’s great they’re different because it allows us to discuss thing :) But I think the original ask was talking more about match impact than stats. There is a reason he was RR’s impact batsman for the IPL this year.

Ind vs Pakistan 2023 Asia Cup Super 4
  Cricket Journals
An account of Virat Kohli’s 77th century :
India vs Pakistan, what is it, it is an emotion attached to all the cricket supporters around the world, be it India, Pakistan, England, or Australia, it is cherished and remembered all over the world. And what does it feel like when your favorite player scores a century in that match, well it feels delighted, a moment to cherish, celebrate and to remember all your lifetime and let me tell you one interesting story of such kind of an event. It was 2023, an amazing year for all cricket fans in the world because we have the ODI World Cup, Asia Cup, WTC Final and many more series such as The Ashes, Ind vs South Africa and many more. But there is one more thing that is wanted by all cricket fans and we have it three times and who knows four times this year. The cherish able, always remembered, India vs Pakistan. Two times in the Asia cup and one time in the ODI World cup, we will witness this amazing rivalry even more this year. September 2023, and the awaited month has arrived. The Asia Cup kicked off with its initial matches. It was happening in Pakistan and Sri Lanka both as India refused to play because of political issues and many more issues which both country’s government crib about. On 2 September, we had the match in Colombo, meaning India vs Pakistan in Colombo. The match started, surprisingly according to the weather forecast, there was no signs of rain in the starting. But that match did not finish because till the finishing of India’s innings which was the first innings, there was rain, drama, and lots of sadness in every spectator’s mind because firstly India had not played well and secondly due to that rain match was abandoned and both teams shared one point each. Well, as I told there were two games so we had the fixture again on 10th September as part of the super four stage. There was rain, drama, and lots of delightfulness in this match because this match was completed and it also witnessed the run machine’s 77th century and he also completed 13,000 runs in ODI cricket. Do you know who I am referring to ?, yes Virat Kohli, my favorite player and the charm of every Indian spectator watching that game. He came in to play and replenishing all his mistakes that led to his dismissal in the last game, he smashed a well driven 122* of 94 deliveries with KL Rahul also scoring a century. They both stitched a 233-run partnership and stretched India’s score to 357 for just the loss of 2 wickets. It was an easy defend for India and dismissed the whole of Pakistan in just 128 runs and in the bowling unit, Kuldeep Yadav also took 5 wickets and bowled an excellent spell dismissing some of their key batters.
We all got the gift from Kohli, we all wanted and deserved. He played as a well accumulator and in the end accelerating to his hundred. It was a classic Kohli innings and a classic Indian win. As expected, Virat received the Man of the Match and that is all we could ask by him in the match of one of the most cherished rivalries of all time.

[ad_1] Australia vs India (PC: ICC) Pitches don’t win cricket matches. Quality cricket does. However good or bad the wicket, you still need to play quality cricket to win the match. When India travelled Down Under in 2018-19 and 2020-21, not once did we hear Virat Kohli or Ravi Shastri complain about the wicket. Not once did Rohit Sharma or Ajinkya Rahane say the WACA wicket was not up to the mark. India played outstanding cricket and won. So if anyone says India will win in Dubai or have an unfair advantage because of the pitch, it actually makes little sense. Win or lose, it will not be because of the pitch. It will depend on who plays better in the big knockout semi-final. What defines a good pitch? For some Australian experts and journalists, a wicket which offers help to the spinners is a poor one. The underlying assumption is that a good wicket has to have lots of runs if it is a 50-over contest. The question is: who has helped set this benchmark? Why is it that a wicket which helps the spinners a wee bit is a bad one? The big semi-final will test the players’ character. How good is someone in the conditions in Dubai when the pressure is on? Can he stand up to the different kinds of challenges that are thrown at him? Ahead of an India-Australia clash, the narrative can’t be about the pitch. Rather, it is and should be about Australia’s batting against Indian spin. As Michael Clarke said, “Our bowling might be lacking a bit of experience in the absence of Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood, but our batting has a huge amount of experience in the lineup. They are good enough to bat and score in any condition.” For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Virat Kohli with Rohit Sharma ahead of the New Zealand clash in the Champions Trophy 2025 (PC: BCCI) In fact, we celebrate Steve Smith because he is able to play a masterclass in any conditions. It was Smith who won Australia the 2015 World cup semi-final against India. And more recently, he has been joined by Travis Head who has played some real special knocks against India. Make no mistake, Australia have the firepower with the bat. And that’s what makes them the world champions in this format. Few can do what Smith can, and that’s why he is revered and celebrated. There are some in this Australian team who are good enough to win a match single-handedly. Josh Inglis, for example, is an excellent player of spin. Glenn Maxwell too can turn a match on its head and we saw that in the 2023 World Cup encounter against Afghanistan. These are quality players and Australia would hope they step up to the challenge. If they do, they elevate themselves as cricketers. If they don’t, it will be India, yet one more time under Rohit’s captaincy, that will be out there in Dubai on March 9. In either case, the pitch is just a bystander. Not the main act in the drama. To make it into one is to fail the sport. Fail the players and the rivalry. The 22 players deserve better, and so do we. For many in India, Australia are the new Pakistan and this match is now cricket’s greatest rivalry. The ICC wanted this game, and they have got it. ICC Champions Trophy 2025: AUS vs SA Weather Report And Pitch Report Of Rawalpindi
The anticipation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is reaching fever pitch, and one of the most eagerly awaited clashes is undoubtedly the showdown between Australia (AUS) and South Africa (SA) in Rawalpindi. With both teams boasting formidable lineups, the match promises to be a thrilling contest. However, as any cricket fan knows, the weather and pitch conditions can play a crucial role in determining the outcome. So, let’s delve into the crucial weather report and pitch report of Rawalpindi for this highly anticipated encounter.
Tumblr media
Rawalpindi's Weather: A Factor to Watch
The weather report for Rawalpindi is a key element in predicting how the match will unfold. Located in the northern part of Pakistan, Rawalpindi experiences a varied climate, and at the time of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, weather conditions can fluctuate.
Analyzing historical data and current forecasts, we can anticipate a few scenarios. During the scheduled time of the tournament, Rawalpindi typically experiences warm days with temperatures ranging from [Insert realistic temperature range based on the time of year]. However, there's always a possibility of unexpected showers, especially during the monsoon season, if it coincides.
If rain does intervene, it could significantly impact the match. A delayed start, reduced overs, or even a washout are all possibilities. Therefore, keeping an eye on the latest weather report is crucial for both teams and fans alike.
A cloudy day could also favor the bowlers, as the ball might swing and seam more. Conversely, a sunny day could make batting easier, leading to a high-scoring encounter. Staying updated with the most recent meteorological information will be vital in understanding the playing conditions.
Decoding the Rawalpindi Pitch: A Batting Paradise or a Bowler's Delight?
The pitch report of Rawalpindi is equally important in predicting the match's dynamics. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, known for its generally batting-friendly surfaces, often produces high-scoring games.
Historically, the pitches here have offered good carry and bounce, allowing batsmen to play their shots freely. However, the nature of the pitch can vary depending on the preparation and the time of year.

For the AUS vs SA clash, we can expect a pitch that initially favors the batsmen. The new ball might come onto the bat nicely, allowing the top order to score runs. However, as the game progresses, the pitch might slow down slightly, offering some assistance to the spinners.
If the pitch is dry, we can expect the spinners to play a crucial role in the middle overs. If it's damp, the seamers might have an advantage in the early stages. The ground staff's preparation will play a significant role in determining the pitch's characteristics.
It is likely that the captains who win the toss will choose to bat first, capitalizing on the fresh pitch and potentially setting a high target. However, if the weather forecast predicts rain, chasing might become a more attractive option.
Impact on Team Strategies: Adapting to the Conditions
The weather report and pitch report will significantly influence the teams' strategies. Australia (AUS) and South Africa (SA) will need to adapt their playing styles based on the conditions.
If the pitch is expected to be batting-friendly, both teams will likely bolster their batting lineups and focus on setting or chasing a big score. If rain is anticipated, they might opt for a more balanced approach, ensuring they have enough bowling options to defend a potentially reduced target.
The team that adapts better to the conditions will have a significant advantage. The captains will need to make astute decisions regarding team selection, batting order, and bowling changes.
The Fan Experience: Preparing for the Rawalpindi Atmosphere
For fans attending the match, it's essential to be prepared for the Rawalpindi atmosphere. Check the weather report and dress accordingly. Bring sunscreen and a hat if it's a sunny day, and carry an umbrella or raincoat if rain is expected.
The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is known for its vibrant atmosphere, and the AUS vs SA clash promises to be a memorable experience. Arrive early to soak in the pre-match buzz and enjoy the match.
A Crucial Clash: Setting the Stage for the Champions Trophy
The AUS vs SA match in Rawalpindi is a crucial encounter in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It will not only determine the teams' standings but also set the tone for the rest of the tournament.
The weather report and pitch report will play a vital role in shaping the match's narrative. Both teams will need to be at their best to overcome the challenges posed by the conditions.
As the countdown to the match begins, cricket fans around the world are eagerly awaiting this highly anticipated clash. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to deliver another thrilling chapter in the history of cricket.

From a fantasy cricket perspective, both players have been consistent performers. However, Kohli’s higher batting average across formats suggests he is more reliable in most matches.
Sachin dominated in an era where bowlers had an edge, while Kohli thrived in a more batting-friendly environment. But for fantasy sports players, the key takeaway is consistency—and Kohli, with his ability to chase under pressure, has been a goldmine for fantasy teams.
2. Fantasy Cricket Strategy: Picking Kohli vs. Sachin in Dream Teams
When to Pick Sachin in Fantasy Cricket?
If you could play fantasy sports during Sachin’s prime, these were the best situations to pick him:
Test Matches in Subcontinent Conditions Sachin was exceptional in India and played spin better than anyone.
ODIs in World Cups – His 673-run tally in the 2003 World Cup remains legendary.
Matches Against Australia – Tendulkar had a history of dominating the Aussies in all formats.
When to Pick Kohli in Fantasy Cricket?
For modern-day fantasy cricket players, Kohli is a must-have in:
ODIs in Chase Situations – With 26+ centuries in successful run chases, Kohli is a fantasy game-changer.
T20 Leagues Like IPL – His ability to score big runs consistently makes him a smart fantasy pick.
Matches Against Pakistan – Kohli’s high-pressure performances, especially in ICC tournaments, make him an ideal fantasy captain.
3. Impact on Fantasy Cricket: Who Scores More Fantasy Points?
In fantasy sports, points are awarded based on runs, strike rate, milestones (50s, 100s), and match-winning performances. Let’s compare Kohli and Sachin based on fantasy point generation:

Kohli’s better conversion rate (more 100s and 50s per match) means he has been a more reliable pick in fantasy sports. His ability to remain not out in chases also ensures bonus points, making him a top choice for fantasy captains.
4. How Their Legacies Influence Modern Fantasy Cricket?
Sachin Tendulkar’s Legacy in Fantasy Cricket
Even though he retired in 2013, Sachin’s impact on fantasy sports remains strong. His records help players make informed choices when selecting teams in legends fantasy leagues or playing historic cricket fantasy formats.
Most ODI Runs Ever – Helps in historical fantasy drafts.
First to Score 100 International Centuries – A milestone that fantasy players still admire.
Virat Kohli’s Influence on Fantasy Cricket Today
Unlike Sachin, Kohli is still an active player, making him a favorite in modern fantasy cricket leagues. His aggressive approach, consistency, and leadership qualities ensure he remains among the first picks in fantasy teams.
Best Average Among Modern Batters – Ensures consistent fantasy points.
T20 and IPL Impact – A must-have in fantasy teams for shorter formats.
Captaincy Bonus – When captaining, Kohli can fetch extra points based on performance.
5. Who Wins in Fantasy Sports? The Final Verdict
If you are a fantasy sports player looking for the best return on investment, Virat Kohli holds a slight edge due to his: ✅ Higher average fantasy points per match✅ Better chase record (more not-outs, higher strike rate)✅ Active career, making him a practical choice in ongoing fantasy leagues
However, if historical cricket fantasy leagues were available, Sachin would still be a top-tier pick, especially for longer formats like Tests and ODIs.
Best Choice for Fantasy Cricket Today? Virat Kohli 🔥
Conclusion: Play Fantasy Sports and Pick the Right Cricketing Legend
Whether you are a die-hard Tendulkar fan or a Kohli admirer, one thing is certain—both players have redefined cricket in their own ways. If you play fantasy sports, picking the right player based on format, opposition, and conditions is the key to winning.

Young Players Who Shined in Champions Trophy
The Champions Trophy has always been a stage where cricket’s brightest talents showcase their skills on a global level. While the tournament has seen legendary cricketers dominate, it has also provided a perfect platform for young players to rise to the occasion. Over the years, several youngsters have stolen the limelight with their exceptional performances, proving their mettle against the best in the world.
In this blog, we will take a look at some of the young players who shined in Champions Trophy, leaving a lasting impact on the tournament and their careers.
Tumblr media
1. Virat Kohli (2009) – The Start of a Legacy
Before he became one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Virat Kohli announced his arrival in the 2009 Champions Trophy with a composed and mature batting display. At just 20 years old, Kohli showed glimpses of his ability to handle pressure. His crucial knock of 79* against the West Indies helped India secure a comfortable victory. Though India didn’t progress far in the tournament, Kohli’s performance made the cricketing world take notice of his immense potential.
2. Josh Hazlewood (2017) – The Wicket-Taking Machine
The 2017 Champions Trophy saw the emergence of Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood as a lethal bowler in white-ball cricket. At 26, he was still considered a young and upcoming talent in ODIs. Hazlewood made headlines when he picked up a sensational six-wicket haul (6/52) against New Zealand, showcasing his ability to swing the ball and trouble world-class batters. His performances cemented his place as a key bowler for Australia in future ICC tournaments.
3. Shikhar Dhawan (2013) – The Tournament's Star
Although Shikhar Dhawan was not entirely new to international cricket, he truly announced himself on the big stage during the 2013 Champions Trophy. The Indian opener smashed back-to-back centuries and finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 363 runs in just 5 matches. His aggressive yet composed batting was instrumental in India’s title-winning campaign. Dhawan’s performances not only earned him the Golden Bat Award but also established him as India’s go-to opener in ICC tournaments.

At just 22 years of age, Babar displayed incredible consistency and temperament, helping Pakistan reach the final. Though he didn’t score a century, his 46-run knock in the final against India was invaluable in setting up Pakistan’s massive victory. This tournament proved that Babar was not just another talented batsman but a future leader in Pakistan cricket.
5. Jasprit Bumrah (2017) – The Death Bowling Specialist
India’s Jasprit Bumrah had already shown glimpses of his ability in limited-overs cricket, but the 2017 Champions Trophy was where he truly proved his worth. At 23, Bumrah became India's most reliable bowler in death overs, consistently delivering pinpoint yorkers. Though an unfortunate no-ball against Pakistan in the final cost India a crucial wicket, his overall performances in the tournament established him as one of the best fast bowlers in white-ball cricket.
6. Kusal Mendis (2017) – Sri Lanka’s Emerging Star
The 2017 Champions Trophy also saw the emergence of Kusal Mendis, who played a match-winning innings against India. Chasing a daunting total of 322, Mendis scored a brilliant 89 off 93 balls, leading Sri Lanka to a historic win. His fearless batting against a world-class Indian bowling attack showcased his talent and earned him recognition as a rising star in Sri Lankan cricket.
7. Fakhar Zaman (2017) – The Surprise Hero of the Final
One of the biggest surprises of the 2017 Champions Trophy was Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman. The left-handed opener, playing in just his fourth ODI, smashed a match-winning 114 off 106 balls against India in the final. His fearless approach and ability to take on the Indian bowling attack stunned everyone and helped Pakistan lift their maiden Champions Trophy title. His century remains one of the most iconic knocks in the history of the tournament.
8. Ravindra Jadeja (2013) – The Spin Wizard
During the 2013 Champions Trophy, Ravindra Jadeja emerged as one of India’s most valuable all-rounders. At just 24 years old, he played a pivotal role in India’s title-winning run, finishing as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets. His all-round skills were on display in the final against England, where he scored a crucial 33* and took 2 wickets, helping India clinch the trophy. His performances earned him the Golden Ball Award and solidified his place in India’s limited-overs setup.
9. Kane Williamson (2013) – The Backbone of New Zealand’s Batting
New Zealand’s Kane Williamson had already been recognized as a player with immense potential, but his performance in the 2013 Champions Trophy further proved his credentials. The young right-hander scored consistently throughout the tournament and finished with 176 runs in three matches. His elegant stroke play and composure under pressure showcased why he was destined to be New Zealand’s future captain.
10. Mustafizur Rahman (2017) – Bangladesh’s Rising Pacer
Bangladesh’s entry into the 2017 Champions Trophy marked a historic moment, and one of their standout young performers was Mustafizur Rahman. The left-arm pacer had already made waves in world cricket with his off-cutters and deceptive variations. Though he didn’t take a lot of wickets, his ability to control runs and apply pressure in crucial moments helped Bangladesh reach the semi-finals for the first time in an ICC event.
Conclusion
The Champions Trophy has always been a tournament where young cricketers have risen to the occasion and made a name for themselves on the global stage. Players like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Jasprit Bumrah, Babar Azam, and Fakhar Zaman used this platform to announce their arrival, and today, they are among the biggest names in cricket.
As the cricketing world eagerly awaits the next edition of the Champions Trophy, fans can hope to witness another batch of young talents stepping up and making history. Who will be the next young superstar to shine in the tournament? Only time will tell!

Re omega! Hardik, there's only one thought in my mind really: 2017 Champions Trophy, held in England. India lost the final to Pakistan by 180 runs. There would be an Indian omega sent to the Pak dressing room, wouldn't there? VK is bonded to Pat, so it's probably not him because Pat won't let VK volunteer. If they lose tournaments/test series vs Aus it's okay, because Patty will be there to protect VK in the Aus dressing room just in case things go south. But I can't see Patty giving VK up to a team that's not Australia.
With VK out of the picture, maybe Hardik is the prize omega for the 2017 Champions Trophy? To make it worse, Hardik was the only person on the Indian squad who put up any fight in the final match, (he top-scored with 76 for India, he was trying his best to single-handedly win the match 🥹) And the Pak players make sure to rub it into Hardik's face when they receive him, that he couldn't save his team from losing and he couldn't save himself either. Maybe Hardik has a harrowing time with his bet?
Possibly he's the bet - I'm just going to reiterate I'm not rewriting the entirety of cricket history. If you want to HC that he's the bet for CT 2017 then absolutely go for it, but unless that information is relevant to the stories I'm writing, it won't feature.

[ad_1] Virat Kohli celebrating after scoring century vs Pakistan (Photo: BCCI) Shamik Chakrabarty in Dubai Over the years, scoring hundreds has sort of become a batting staple for Virat Kohli in the 50-over format. He has 51 of them, the latest coming against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. It was his 299th game. On Sunday against New Zealand, the ODI GOAT would play his 300th. Two players in the current Indian team transcend geographic boundaries and their sporting circles. Apologies to Rohit Sharma fans, but when Kohli posts moments from India’s T20 World Cup triumph on social media, Real Madrid footballer Vinicius Junior likes them. Chris Martin of the Coldplay fame chooses a Bumrah tribute as the opening act of his concert. The fast bowler is not here in the Champions Trophy. Kohli reaching a special milestone would be one of the biggest attractions in a dead rubber. Only six Indian players have reached this landmark before Kohli — Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh. Tendulkar sits on top of the tree with 18,426 runs from 463 matches. Kohli has 14,085 from 299, with a realistic chance to surpass the master. Yes, he is 36, but remains one of fittest players in this Indian team. And his hunger hasn’t died down. Far from it. On the eve of the Pakistan game, Kohli had turned up at the nets early — two hours before his team’s scheduled practice session at the ICC Academy. His teammates came in his wake. The intensity of that nets session was top-notch. Rohit sensed the determination of his predecessor and asked him to address the team huddle. In the match, Kohli looked to be in the right headspace from the outset. Never did he look like getting out. Of late, he has developed a technical glitch against spinners taking the ball away from him. His feet weren’t leaving the leg stump line. He wasn’t pressing across to get to the line of the ball, with the front leg going straight down. In the process, he was ending up playing away from his body, using his hands to counter the turning ball. Kohli has been putting in a lot of efforts at the nets here in Dubai to fix the issue. He is staying light on his feet and very conscious about the right movements while facing Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. Over the years, Kohli’s preparations for matches have become legendary. New Zealand spinner Michael Bracewell gave the lowdown, as he spoke to the media on Friday. “I saw it first-hand at RCB, how he sort of prepared for each match,” Bracewell told reporters, while tipping his hat to the Indian master. “I think that’s obviously a massive, massive achievement. 300 games across a career is very impressive. And then to put that in just one format is amazing. I think it’s a testament to the way that he’s gone about his career.” Is Kohli the greatest ODI batsman ever? Ricky Ponting thinks so. “I think I’m on record before saying I don’t think I have ever seen a better 50-over player than Virat Kohli,” the former Australia captain said on the ICC Review Podcast. In a tournament where excitement has suddenly taken a dip, Kohli remains the ICC’s best bet to woo the fans.
