Oh boyo... Shub and the bets is going to be a storm in a can.
Oooh yes!!
Shub's first test series is the 2020/21 Border Gavaskar trophy vs Australia I think. India won 2-1 with a win for the ages at the Gabba, where Shubman himself top-scored with 91 before Rishabh led a brilliant rescue act.
The Aussie omega sent to the Indian dressing room would probably be Marn right? Coz Starcy is bonded by now. Or maybe Cam Green?
Also, also, VK wasn't there for the 2020/21 BGT. He played the first match before returning to India cause his wife Anushka was due with their first child. Idk why he misses the rest of the tour in Omegaverse, but for some reason he's not there. So Marn/Cam are very afraid about what's gonna happen, bc they could've relied on VK to keep them safe, but he's not there anymore.
But Shubman takes over from VK, as head of the omega protection squad. Marn/Cam expect Shubman to be one of those typical young alphas who will be jumping at the chance of getting an opposition omega for a night, but he turns out to be the exact opposite-- he makes sure they're comfortable, he impresses upon them that nothing is going to happen, he's not going to do anything to them, he's not going to let anyone do anything to them. This is a very young Indian squad, so I don't think anyone will try anything, but Shubman still stands out with his protectiveness. Shubman is very affronted when he learns of the custom and even takes Marn/Cam back to the Aussie dressing room like 2 mins after the Indians get the omega, because "No, this is not happening, not on my watch. I won't stand for an omega's consent outraged thus. Real living human beings shouldn't be treated as cattle."
Aww ok, I like that. However this is before we start getting cookies and cuddles, so the omega (let’s pencil in Marn) is gonna be so confused.
Pat stops him at the door when he sees Shub bringing Marn back. He’s confused what’s going on, but stresses Marn cannot come back yet.
“Do what you want with him.” Pat shrugs and Shub can’t believe he’s just heard it. This is Virat’s alpha, right? How can Virat’s alpha be talking like that??
But ofc Pat has to hold face in front of the CA. This is a bet and they lost. The CA really don’t like it when he tries to go against that (he’s tried in the past).
So he drags Marn and Shub back out of the room - Shub doesn’t miss the protective yet reassuring hand that finds Marn as they shuffle out - and he explains why Marn can’t come back, that if the players don’t take him god knows who from the BCCI will take him. Shub’s protectiveness flare flashes again and he makes it his personal responsibility to keep Marn safe.
So he skips out on all the celebrations and partying, taking Marn back to his hotel room and playing cards or hotel room cricket all night. He goes to sleep on the sofa, giving Marn his bed, sure he hears a soft “thank you” before the lights go out.
Bonus if he wakes up to Marn cuddled against his chest (it’s safer and let’s be honest Steve is as blind as a wombat) and double bonus points if this is what sparks the Aussies to be nicer to omegas they win in bets 🥰

AUS vs IND, Border-Gavaskar Trophy India Shakes Off Pink-Ball Loss, Focuses on Brisbane Challenge
After a well-deserved rest on Monday, India’s cricketers returned to training on Tuesday morning, eager to move past their pink-ball loss. The batters worked through long sessions with throwdowns, pace, and spin, preparing for Brisbane. In today’s world of shorter series, a long contest stretching over seven weeks can be exhausting. It’s been years since India played a five-Test series in Australia—back in 1991-92. / A Look Back at 1991-92 That series marked Sachin Tendulkar’s rise, despite India losing 4-0. His 114 at WACA remains one of his finest innings. The series also featured the twilight of Dilip Vengsarkar, the resilience of Ravi Shastri, and Javagal Srinath’s debut. On the other hand, Shane Warne made his debut but had little impact. Despite their efforts, India couldn’t stop Australia’s dominance. Though that tour was tough, it showed the team’s spirit. Now, India stands on more equal footing. After two Tests in the 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the series is tied at 1-1, indicating a close contest. In recent years, India has made significant progress, particularly during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 triumphs in Australia. A New Challenge in Brisbane India’s loss at Adelaide Oval could motivate Rohit Sharma’s team to fight back in Brisbane. With the series tied, the third Test is crucial. On Tuesday, India returned to training, which would have been the final day of the second Test if not for their batting collapse. Batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, K.L. Rahul, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Washington Sundar spent time working on their batting against a mix of throwdowns, pace, and spin. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj worked on fitness in the gym, while the other bowlers practiced their craft. The red ball replaced the pink ball, marking a fresh start for the team. Rohit’s Optimism and Teamwork “We have no scars from the loss,” said Rohit, focusing on Brisbane and the upcoming challenge. The team worked on defensive techniques and added some attacking shots. Jaiswal was aggressive but got stranded while charging at R. Ashwin, causing some light-hearted moments. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli chatted with coach Gautam Gambhir, while Ajit Agarkar (chief selector) and Morne Morkel (bowling coach) shared their thoughts. After a productive session, the players took some time to relax. The Road Ahead Managing their workload is essential during such a long tour. India has improved since the 1991-92 series. The next few weeks will show how much they’ve grown, and the Brisbane Test will be an important test.

[ad_1] Mitchell Starc and Yashasvi Jaiswal durimg the 1st test between India and Australia in the Border Gasvaskar trophy 2024-25. Photo: Debasis Sen Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon – clearly one of Australia’s best bowling attacks ever, with an incredible 1,443 wickets between them. And yet, in the last 10 years, they haven’t beaten India in a Test series. Each of them played the 2018-19 and 2020-21 series, and they all played in Perth. Each time, they finished second-best. So, while we accept that Australia beat India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final and the 50-over World Cup final, it is also true that India have consistently had the better of them in bilateral Test series. Adelaide and the pink-ball Test will perhaps be the last roll of the dice for this Australian bowling line-up. They know the conditions well, and have played much more with the pink ball than India have. They will also remember the 36 all out and try and take inspiration from it. They also know, however, that India have Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, along with Harshit Rana or Akash Deep, and if they don’t bowl and bat well, there could be another disaster on the horizon. Much more than a one-off WTC win, a five-match Test series will always rank higher in the pecking order. In alien conditions, a team have to be at their best over a two-month period to win an away series. That’s what India have been able to do for the last decade. And that’s what will haunt Cummins and co. The pressure, may i say, is squarely on Australia. For More Sports Related Content Click Here Australia vs India, Perth Test (PC: Debasis Sen) Perth, as Gideon Haigh said, was the most alien of conditions for India. Australia had planned it in a manner that they’d go 2-0 up by Brisbane, and India would be demoralised. However, the Perth punch has left them stunned. And Adelaide, as I said, is their only chance. Another loss, and India would know the series is within touching distance. Mentally, the Aussies would be further scarred and a comeback would be near-impossible. In every way, the pink-ball Test is massive for Australia. While India now have room to manoeuvre, Australia have their backs to the wall. They can’t afford another failure, and that’s why it will be all about pressure. Can the bowling unit step up in Adelaide and soak up the pressure? Can they push the Indian batters twice and make sure that their own fragile batting has some cushion? Can they breach the defence of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul? Can Starc come up with something special? India know that two more days of excellent cricket will open the door to a series win. Fissures will appear, and Australia could well disintegrate. And to produce these two days of excellent cricket, they will want to use the Canberra game starting on November 30 really well. Akash Deep or Harshit? Where will Rohit Sharma bat? Plenty of questions will be answered in this game, and it could very well set things up for Adelaide. Australia Looks to Cement Dominance in Women's T20 World Cup
Australia are heavy favorites to win their seventh title at the women's T20 World Cup, which begins on Thursday and marks their first tournament entry since four-time tournament winner Meg Lanning quit. Alyssa Healy, the new captain, will face a test in the UAE, managing a team that has only won the 20-over trophy twice since the competition began in 2009. The 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has been a part of Australia's previous six title victories, but she admits she is going into this year's event with "no real expectations".
"It's the best vs the best, and whoever can be the most consistent or win those small moments along the way will win," Healy wrote in a blog for the International Cricket Council's website.
Still, she stated that her team was loaded with fresh talent, identifying up-and-coming all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, 22, and batting sensation Phoebe Litchfield, 21, as players to watch.
Australia faces formidable rivals India and New Zealand. They arrive in the UAE after defeating New Zealand 3-0 in T20 cricket.
Since the 20-over competition's inception last year, India's hopes have been boosted by the Women's Premier League's resounding domestic success.
"When I talk about this team, we have a few individuals who have been playing for a long time and know their roles well," skipper Harmanpreet Kaur stated.
"This is the best team we are bringing for a T20 World Cup with."
India finished second in 2020 and fell in the semifinals in 2018 and 2023.
Sophie Devine of New Zealand will stand down as captain at the end of the competition, having competed in every World Cup and finished second twice.
"The T20 World Cup's become an important vehicle in the rise and growth of the women's game," Devine told the gathering.
Sri Lanka and Pakistan complete the first group, while Bangladesh, England, Scotland, South Africa, and the West Indies form the second.
'Breaking the barriers'
The South Africans, who fell to Australia in last year's final in Cape Town, have a new captain in Laura Wolvaardt, who is eager to improve on their performance.
"Reaching our first-ever World Cup final in 2023 was a significant milestone for us," she wrote on the ICC website.
Surprisingly, the Proteas beat England in the semi-finals.
"It was a significant 'breaking down limitations and breaking the bounds' event for the squad.
"Before that, we'd made the semi-finals on several occasions, so to go that one step further was very important for us as a group.
"Now our goal is to go that one step higher to lift the trophy."
Heather Knight's seasoned England team, which includes Nat Sciver-Brunt, Alice Capsey, Sophie Ecclestone, and Lauren Bell, will be out for retribution when they face the Proteas on October 7.
Bangladesh faces Scotland at Sharjah in the opening match of the tournament, where the prize money is for the first time equal to the men's edition with a $2.34 million The purse for the winners of the October 20 finals.
That's a 134% rise from the $1 million granted to the Australians when they won the title in South Africa last year.
The ICC stated that the change was aimed to "prioritize the women's game and accelerate its growth."
Bangladesh was slated to host the tournament but it was shifted to Dubai and Sharjah after weeks of political unrest in July and August ousted the government of autocratic ex-premier Sheikh Hasina.

Record-breaking ticket sales for the India vs. Australia Boxing Day Test
According to Cricket Australia ticket sales for Australia's Test match against India on Boxing Day this year in Melbourne have exceeded all previous records.
According to the host association, sales on the first day of business have tripled compared to 2018–19. The game was played in front of only 30,000 viewers at the 100,000-plus capacity stadium during the 2020/21 tours owing to COVID-19 restrictions.
CA went on to say that purchases for days 2-4 have increased by an astounding 5.5 times since India's 2018–19 Down Under tour.
Joel Morrison, Executive General Manager, Events & Operations at CA stated "The Border Gavaskar series is a highly anticipated event and current ticket sales show there is enormous interest in the upcoming contest between Australia and India."
"We're asking fans to buy tickets now to ensure they don't miss out on any of the behavior, as tickets are going by fast for all five Tests as excitement for the upcoming summer continues to build" he said.
The percentage of tickets purchased by Indian fans has increased to 3.9 percent from just 0.7 percent in 2018–19, which is another significant figure.
A significant number of out-of-country groups are anticipated to attend Test matches this summer Morrison added. "We continue to see strong sales from Indian fans as well as Australian fans presenting an excellent chance to celebrate the lasting connection between our two countries both on and off the field."
The first game of the five-Test series between Australia and India will take place in Perth on November 22.
The caravan will then shift to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and finally Sydney which will host the traditional New Year’s Test.

Mohammed Siraj tells a story about when he left KL Rahul annoyed
Mohammed Siraj's hard work has certainly paid dividends, and the Hyderabad pacer, who is called "Miyan bhai’ by his teammates, has evolved into a leading figure in the national team. He made his first international appearance back in the year 2017, and although it took some time for Siraj to rise, his stature as a fast bowler has since elevated, especially after the India cricket team's tour of Australia in the year 2020–21, where he also made his Test debut.
Tumblr media
In a freewheeling chat with Gaurav Kapoor in his show "Breakfast With Champions", the fast bowler narrated an incident involving KL Rahul when he was on the receiving end. The incident took place when Siraj was yet to make his IPL debut and was a net bowler. He was bowling to KL Rahul, who used to play for RCB.
Siraj said, "I had performed with the Under-23 team. I had played one match in the Ranji Trophy. I had taken a wicket, but then I was dropped for the next two matches, and I was out of the team.
"Next year it was RCB vs. Sunrisers, and I was a net bowler then. I bowled bouncer after bouncer to KL Rahul, and he got angry. He told me, "Khali bouncer hi aata hain tujhe’. I said, ‘Bhaiya, I know other stuff too.’
Then Bharat Sir became quite impressed and went to VVS Laxman Sir to ask, "Who is this boy?"
He further added, "Next year, Arun sir became the coach of Hyderabad for the Ranji Trophy. The selectors were not selecting me for the Ranji Trophy. So Arun sir said, ‘I want this boy in the team. If you listen, then only I will join the association; otherwise, I will not. So Arun sir came and picked me, and I was the highest wicket-taker that year."

[ad_1] Washington Sundar in third test vs NZ (PC: BCCI/X) Over two Indian Premier Leagues, in 2023 and 2024 respectively, Washington Sundar bagged a mere four wickets in nine matches. It is true that T20 cricket is not exactly a barometer to judge someone’s credentials for the longest format. But there was no doubt that a piece or two of the jigsaws were missing from his bowling. It seemed as if Washington was mostly bowling with a flatter trajectory. Around 5-6 months later, when he was rather surprisingly picked in India’s playing XI, against New Zealand, for the Pune Test, Washington turned out to be the trump-card, bagging a 10-wicket haul for the match. The transformation was quite incredible, and for a moment, one pondered whether the previous version was akin to a long-lost twin brother of the bowler who took a string of wickets versus New Zealand.  Just zoom your lens on Washington’s bowling in the just-concluded Test series, and it could be clearly seen that there was more energy in his run-up. The telling difference was the kind of overspin Washington imparted on the ball.  Just think of the jaw-dropping delivery to Rachin Ravindra in the second Test. The ball dipped and turned, and there was inward drift. Eventually, Ravindra was beaten on the outside edge, with the stumps getting rattled.  Washington’s exploits weren’t just restricted to the Pune Test as he added another five scalps in Mumbai to finish with a rich haul of 16 wickets for the series. Behind the scenes, Washington is said to have worked with S Sriram, who has had coaching stints with Bangladesh and Australia. With an impressive showing against New Zealand, Washington has also put his hat in the ring for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar-Trophy in Australia. The tall off-spinner is again expected to impart overspin and extract bounce from those surfaces in Australia.  In the first Test at Perth, he could also come into the equation in the second innings. With the sunshine beating down on the pitch, generally tracks in Perth tend to crack as the game progresses, which should assist Washington.  Lest we forget that Washington is competent with the bat in hand too. Who can forget the game-breaking stand with Shardul Thakur in the Gabba Test? With R Ashwin and R Jadeja in the mix, India also have a couple of experienced pros to choose from for the opening Test. But Washington might just be the best-suited candidate of the trio to take the number seven slot in the batting order.  Just spool back in time, and it can be observed that Washington has grabbed every single opportunity with both hands. In the 2017 IPL, he replaced an injured Ashwin at Rising Pune Supergiant on the back of castling Steve Smith in trials.  At the Gabba, in 2020-21, his contributions with both the bat and ball powered an injury-ravaged Indian side to one of their greatest-ever triumphs. A few years later, from nowhere, he established himself as one of the mainstays of India’s bowling line-up versus New Zealand. There is enough evidence to believe that the quiet and unassuming cricketer is all set to shine brightly in the forthcoming Test series in Australia. IND vs ENG: Expect England To “Punch Back Very Hard” In 4th Test, Says Jeetan Patel

England scored 112 and 81 in the two innings after opting to bat and they fell to the guile of Indian spinners, led by Ravichandran Ashwin and…

India’s WTC Aspirations What’s Next After New Zealand Defeat
India’s shocking 3-0 Test series defeat to New Zealand at home, capped by a narrow 25-run loss in Mumbai, has sent ripples through the cricketing world. This unexpected outcome not only dents India’s confidence but also poses significant challenges to their World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-2025 aspirations. Falling to second place in the WTC standings, India faces a daunting task to qualify for the final at Lord’s next summer. / Impact of the New Zealand Defeat on WTC Standings Before the series, India seemed poised to comfortably secure a spot in the WTC final. However, the 0-3 whitewash caused their Points Percentage (PCT) to dip to 58.33%, trailing Australia, who now lead with a PCT of 62.50%. The latest WTC standings underscore the intensity of the competition: India’s once-commanding position has been overtaken, leaving little margin for error as the team gears up for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Path to WTC Final Qualification: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy India’s upcoming five-Test series against Australia has now become a do-or-die contest. For India to qualify without relying on other teams: Win at Least Four Matches A 4-1 series victory would push India’s PCT above 65%, likely guaranteeing a spot in the WTC final. This would also restore their reputation after the New Zealand series loss and serve as a significant morale booster. Adapt to Australian Conditions Historically, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been a test of grit and adaptability. India must prepare to face Australia’s formidable pace attack and counter the challenges posed by bouncy pitches. Key Players Must Perform Skipper Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, and frontline bowler Jasprit Bumrah will need to lead from the front. Young talents like Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj will also have critical roles in ensuring India’s success. Reliance on Other Teams’ Results If India fails to secure the required victories in Australia, their fate will depend on outcomes from other WTC fixtures, such as: Sri Lanka vs. Australia/South Africa These series could significantly alter standings, especially if Sri Lanka performs well and increases their PCT. New Zealand’s Remaining Matches As the defending champions, New Zealand could upset the balance if they maintain a winning streak. India must remain vigilant, as the WTC standings are dynamic, and every match could potentially influence their qualification chances. What Must India Do to Turn Things Around? Address Weaknesses Analyze the New Zealand defeat and rectify vulnerabilities, particularly in batting collapses and inconsistent bowling performances. Strategic Gameplay Leverage past experiences from successful tours, such as the historic series win in Australia (2020-21), to build a robust strategy. Focus on Team Unity and Resilience With pressure mounting, India must stay mentally resilient and foster a team culture that thrives under challenging circumstances. Monitor Competition Keep a close eye on the performance of other WTC contenders to understand the qualification landscape better. Conclusion: The Road Ahead India’s qualification for the WTC 2023-2025 Final is still within reach, but the journey will be challenging. Success in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is non-negotiable, and every match will be crucial for their aspirations. With a blend of experience, strategy, and resilience, India can overcome these setbacks and march toward Lord’s. [ad_1] Hanuma Vihari vs Australia (PC: Hanuma Vihari/X) What was the most standout quality, which helped India win the 2020-21 series that Australia looked like running away with after the first Test? Other than everything else — courage to bounce back, belief in own abilities to attack the opposition, finding the right men for the right moments and a touch of luck — the fightback from 36 all out was also characterised by a steady show of grit. It’s difficult to point at an individual and say that he was the prime inspirational figure. A lot of them contributed and these efforts were not always numerically eye-catching. There were no centuries before or after one by Ajinkya Rahane in the second Test. Mohammed Siraj in the last Test recorded the lone five-wicket haul. Yet, India kept finding something from here, there and everywhere. The least spectacular of these priceless contributions came from Hanuma Vihari. Batting with a torn hamstring, which ruled out running between the wickets, he survived the entire last session with a bruised Ravichandran Ashwin after India had lost five wickets, to save the third Test. It was possibly the gutsiest passage of play seen from Indians in a marquee match overseas. Both missed the last Test, but handed their team a lifeline to win the series. Vihari’s scores in that series before the unbeaten 23 off 161 balls were 16, 8, 21 and 4. But that period of stonewalling against a formidable attack made sure that he will be remembered when people talk about India’s Test heroics in Australia. Even on the previous tour in 2017-18, the middle-order bat was sent out to open in Melbourne and drew the praise of coach Ravi Shastri despite making eight, for sticking around for 66 deliveries. India won that Test. The reason to mention Vihari is the fact that India on this upcoming series in Australia will miss someone like him or Cheteshwar Pujara. In a team of dashers, these two brought balance. They demonstrated the importance of respecting the bowlers and situations. Their methods were different, but no less effective. They helped India save sessions and eventually draw or win matches. These old virtues have no room in the Indian cricket system at the moment. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Hanuma Vihari in Tests for India (PC: Hanuma Vihari/X) This is not to advocate the inclusion of Pujara or Vihari. Both have not been in the scheme of things and Vihari doesn’t have scores worthy of a recall. He was not part of the Duleep Trophy, where the selectors put together four teams. There is no ground to bring him back, despite his decent-enough figures from 16 Tests, 13 of them abroad. This is just to highlight his silent and unattractive utility that the current crop of India’s Test cricketers lacks. This team lives by the sword. That means there are occasions when they die by it too. This tendency failed spectacularly in the New Zealand series where the Indians showed no signs of having a rethink on the ‘high-risk, high-reward’ policy Gautam Gambhir had spoken about. Nobody looked ready to battle for multiple sessions either, like the chief coach had also mentioned. Captain Rohit Sharma was a prime example of following this formula and failing. There was no Plan B. It’s a thin line between aggression and arrogance. There is nothing wrong with positive approach, because that is the only option for players and teams. Overdoing it looks good when it comes off and totally different when it doesn’t. This becomes glaring if players and teams start doing it blindly instead of opting for caution when the chips are down. This is what this Indian team is not doing. A continuous urge to dominate is leaving too many doors ajar. So far, the team management has made no visible effort to address this. This is where they will miss the likes of Vihari and Pujara. Ability to absorb without throwing the counterpunch at inappropriate moments is what this lot doesn’t possess. It could be a precious shortcoming under pressure.
