Hi,
for your prompt request.
đ» angst for Austin. There was a short lived rumour he'd perform at the Oscars. I had this in my head for months, that he'd perform the in memoriam section (what Lenny Kravitz did this year). Maybe with the beautiful Elvis rendition of BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER .
Obviously that's a daunting thing, so maybe some praise kink that leads to more at rehearsals? With whoever your comfortable with writing this but if live to read it with Polly Bennett his movement coach.
Xxx
Ohhhh, dearest Nonnie, did you give me a challenge! It took me a minute to try and get into Austin's head because I've never written him before, so thank you for your patience! đ
I really ended up leaning into that praise kink, and this turned out waaay filthier than I intended, but 'twas where my muse took me lol. The Bridge Over Trouble Water lyrics actually were a bit of an inspiration, so the song appears more figuratively than literally. I hope it's okay that it ended up being so much smut vs. storyline, but it is Austin and Polly! Thank you for your request and I hope you enjoy, When Tears Are In Your Eyes, darlin'! đ
TW: This is utterly filthy. Minors BE GONE! 18+ only! Really, there is so much SEXXX, but, like, in a sweet, subby Austin way. Panic attacks. Negative self-talk. PRAISE KINK--so much praise kink... Sub space? Not as edited as usual! Hopefully this isn't too much of a mess cuz I'm a little nervous about writing about Austin (and Polly!)...I'm definitely not an Austin expert đ
When Tears Are in Your Eyes
The first time was a fluke. The panic before heâd had to go out and really perform as Elvis for the first time, for the â68 Special section, was utterly paralyzing and heâd needed something or someone to break him out of his mind prison, someone telling him he was going to be okay, that he was going to do a great job, that he was good enough. Desperate times had called for desperate measures.
Baz and Olivia and even Catherine had tried help him shake his nerves, but no matter the massive amount of support and encouragement from them all, he was convinced there was no way he could do Elvis justice. That he would fail completely, not only tanking his own career, but also Bazâs, and disappoint millions of Elvisâ fans across the world in the process. To say heâd worked himself into a frenzy was an understatement.
When Polly came in, his amazing and fiery movement coach, he was convinced she wouldnât be able to stave off this horror building inside him, this pure terror that he was a complete fraud. But theyâd worked so many hours together, one on one, that she could sense something in him that he could not. When sheâd embraced him and told him he was going to be alright, that everything would be fine, he almost broke into pieces at his friendâs words. Heâd sniffled into her blonde hair, his Elvis makeup running, clutching at her like she was a life raft.
And then it had happened. As she whispered words of encouragement into the shell of his ear, praising the commitment he had to the role and how he was already doing Elvisâ legacy proud, heâd felt it. Unfortunately, pressed up against her in that tight black leather suit, it didnât take long for her to feel it, too.
He was totally mortified, of course, chalking it up to his anxiousness and heightened emotions, and it sent him into another kind of panic because Polly was his colleague and his friend and oh my god, he didnât want to ruin any of that. Whimpering in her hair, he wanted to pull away and hide even more than he had before, but she just kept breathing praise into his ear. As if he wasnât rock hard against her.
It hadnât taken long for his body to go off the rails, his hips rolling into her ever so slightly, the friction of those damn pants coupled with what she was saying arousing him to the point of bursting. But she didnât flinch or move away, she just kept her arms around him tight and let him grind and whimper into her.
It wasnât enough. He was a sniveling mess, terrified of going out there and humiliating himself, and now he was insanely aroused, his mind starting to white out, and he needed release but the dry humping just wasnât enough.
Somehow, sheâd known exactly what he needed and for some unknown reason, hadnât hesitated in the slightest in giving it to him. When sheâd popped the button on the pants, unzipping him just enough to reach her tiny hand in, heâd nearly passed out from the way sheâd groped his too-sensitive cock through his underwear.
âDoing such a good job for me, Aus, always doing so good for me. Always putting in your all. Youâre gonna be perfect,â sheâd whispered as she pumped him expertly. His mind went blank, hearing nothing but her praise, and he surrendered quickly. Shuddering violently, he crested and felt the hot spurts of his release coat the inside of his briefs.
âThatâs it, let it go, Aus. Cumming so well,â sheâd praised him, talking him through his orgasm, then released him with a genuine smile, pressing her forehead to his as he tried to regain his senses.
It wrecked him just enough to break him free of his anxiety. Heâd gasped in both refraction and shock and Polly had just patted his cheek sweetly and handed him tissues to clean himself up, like there wasnât something completely bonkers that happened between them. Like she hadnât just jerked him off and successfully made him feel like he could go out there now and be Elvis. Like his confidence hadnât been restored by the magic power of her words and her hand.
Things had happened so intensely and fast after that with filming that heâd barely had time to think on it. When heâd stripped out of the suit and his messed underwear later that night, heâd actually laughed, thinking of the story of how Elvis had orgasmed in his leather suit as well.
How very âmethodâ of me, heâd thought with a chuckle.
Heâd also been confused and embarrassed, but Polly acted like nothing strange had occurred at all. No lingering glances or silly winks. No uncomfortable silences or awkward words. Business as usual.
So, heâd moved on. It was a fluke. A moment of weakness.
Except now, backstage during rehearsals for the Oscars, he finds himself in that same completely panicked headspace for the first time since the â68 Special. His agent had somehow convinced him to agree to singing âBridge Over Troubled Waterâ during the âIn Memorialâ section of the show. But that was months ago, before he was exhausted from all the award shows and press and schmoozing and the traveling across continents, all the while trying not to let his grief for Lisa Marie (and the residual grief it triggered about his mom) consume him.
He is terrified. Stomach churning and palms sweating, he shakes all over, a leftover effect of those pieces of Elvis still lingering within him. Singing in front of people was never something heâd been able to do until Elvis. But even then, heâd been playing a character. It was so much more vulnerable to get out there singing as himself. In front of a room filled with the biggest names in Hollywood, in front of his heroes, and for millions on live television, no less.
No pressure or anything.
Sure, theyâd convinced him to sing briefly on SNL, but that was still under the guise of Elvis and it had been only a small part of the farewell for Cecily, the focus being on her, not just him. Heâd been nervous, to be sure, but it had been different. Not this. Nothing like this.
Of course, he knows the song in his sleep, it being one of his favorites to listen to while prepping for Elvis. But as much as the critics and the world loved his performance, and as much as he tries to draw upon the superstarâs confidence, he is not Elvis Presley.
His shallow and quick breaths as he waits for his turn to rehearse makes him think that he might pass out if he keeps freaking out at this rate. Forcing himself to breath in through his nose and out through his mouth, part of the dynamic breathwork heâd learned, he manages to keep from ending up on the floor. But his mind is still whirling and his stomach is churning.
You idiot, youâre just gonna go out there and embarrass yourself in front of everyone you admire. What a failure youâll be, his inner critic berates him. Stupid fucking fool.
He canât do this. Thereâs no way in hell.
Austin feels the tears prick in his eyes. Oh, good, now Iâm gonna cry, too. Perfect.
Itâs then that he feels the small arms encircle his waist and he knows.
He knows itâs her.
Heâs not sure how Pol managed to get backstageâthe security is insaneâbut like a miracle, sheâs here. âCome on, Aus. Youâre going to be okay,â she says quietly.
Gently, she pulls him back, back, back through the wings of the stage, whispering words along the way (âYou can do this, hun, and will do it well. I know you will.â) and into an empty dressing room. He follows more than willingly, letting the tears free fall down his cheeks now.
He finds himself in that strange little space again where all he hears and wants and needs is her, her reassurances and praises, and she gives them liberally.
Polly gently pushes him into the room, closing the door and engaging the lock behind her. His brain is overloaded, his body buzzing with anxiety, but her words leave him wanting and he feels his cock twitch in his pants. All rational thought is abandoned, his body beginning to take over, and he doesnât have the strength to hold himself back.
Austin steps into her, pressing her back against the door, nuzzling his head down into her neck. She lets him, her hands running softly, comfortingly, through his hair, causing a low moan to escape his lips.
âI-I-I needâŠpleaseâŠâ he begs through hiccupping little sobs.
âI know, shh, I know.â
Then, she proceeds to murmur at him all the ways he is good and talented and true. He canât help rolling his now-aching cock into her belly, but she does not falter.
The sensations are all too much this time, even more than the first time, and he is running his hand up her bare leg and under her skirt before his mind even registers what heâs trying to do, all the lines he is going to cross. Because he has to do something, something he knows heâs good at, something he knows he wonât fail.
And by the little squeak that turns into a mewl when he reaches the apex between her thighs, the thin cotton covering her warm little sex, he knows heâs right. Slipping his fingers under, he runs them through her already dampening folds and up to circle the sensitive nub at the top.
âT-this o-okay?â he stutters out, needing to know heâs doing right by her.
âYes, Aus, thatâs perfect, oh god,â she moans breathlessly in his ear.
The praise fully short-circuits his brain, sending him into that white space where his career expectations and fears donât touch him like they did before.
Please, please, pleaseâŠis all he thinks and he realizes eventually that heâs panting it out loud, ignoring the straining in his pants because he wants to get her off, he needs to please her, and if he does, everything will somehow be okay.
He slides his fingers down through her softness, and finding her wet and ready for him, turns her around to face the door and slides two fingers into her heat, his thumb working circles on her clit. Pumping, his fingers search for that spongy spot, the one he thinks will make her keen and pleased, and when he finds it, he curls his fingertips into it.
âThatâs itâŠjust like that,â she pants, then she bucks back, her ample ass giving him some much-needed friction. The sensation is almost too much, causing him to press her into the door, his throbbing erection making him desperate.
âOh, my good, good boy. Oh god. Oh g-god, Aus, youâre gonna make me cum,â she chokes out and itâs music to his ears, this approval and proof of his goodness. âThatâs p-perfect, youâre perfect!â
Her cry couples the fluttering of her walls and the dam breaks, arousal flooding onto his hand. But her release sends his body into overdrive, and he pulls his fingers out of her, leaving her moaning. Frantically, he pulls her soaked panties down her legs and unbuckles his pants, letting them slide down and free his cock.
âPlease, I-I-IâŠcan I?â he whimpers at her.
She nods. âYes, yes!â
He is in shambles. It only takes a second before heâs rubbing his cock between her legs, coating himself in her slick, and they both moan at the sensation.
Going into that white space, the one he only gets to when with her, all he can think is please, please, I need, I need, and it causes him to rush a little. He pushes up into her comforting and plush folds, meeting a little resistance on the way because heâs thick and sheâs small but oh god, sheâs so tight around him.
Through the hazy fog of his brain, he hears her pretty little gasps as she adjusts to his girth, but when he bottoms out in her wet heat, it feels too good and a fresh panic hits him. This awareness of what he is doing to herâspearing her and splitting her in twoâand the thought that he might be doing it wrong or hurting her in some way has him sobbing, âPol,â as he clutches at her waist.
âItâs okay, youâre perfect, Aus,â she moans, encouraging him. âNow move those hips, just like I taught you.â
Relief and fresh arousal floods over him. He knows this. He can do it in his sleep. Cock twitching inside her, he starts to move, rolling those narrow hips of his smoothly, precisely, just as heâd practiced for hours and hours prepping for Elvis.
Polly lets out a low, pleased groan as he does so, and it fills him with pleasure because heâs pleasing her, heâs doing it right. With each thrust, she coos at him words of praise and he eats them up like heâs starving. The terror and the trepidation are banished into the shadows, consumed by that white space, the space where he is perfect and good and doing everything just right.
He could stay here forever, surrounded by light and warmth and comfort, buried deep in his friend.
His smooth thrusts become pointed because the more she praises his work, the hotter he becomes, like heâs burning up from the inside in the best way possible. She writhes below him, pushing back into him, the sound of his balls slapping her weepy, perfect little cunt sending every ounce of blood straight into his dick.
One hand slams next to hers on the door, using it as leverage to pound into her. Deeper, need to be deeper, oh fuck, oh Jesus. The other grips desperately at her waist, anchoring himself to her so he doesnât fly too far away into that glorious white space.
Her voice does that, too, her breathless sighs of, âYes, yes, youâre doing so good, giving me that perfect cock so well, Aus,â are pushing him headlong to the brink.
Reaching around under her skirt, he finds her puffy clit and works it furiously, even in his blinding fog knowing he wants her to come over the edge with him. She keens and he pistons erratically at the sound.
âFuck, youâre gonna be a good boy and come with me now, right Aus?â she pants, taking him like she was made to do so.
âMhm,â is all he can manage, biting his lower lip and nodding. Heat floods him, overwhelming his senses as he fucks into her, needing every inch to remind him who he is. He begins to shudder when he feels her walls clench tighter around him.
âOh, fuck, youâre g-gonna make me cum again, Aus! Oh, YES,â she moans, fluttering around him, and he shatters into little pieces right behind her.
Heâs too far gone to pull out, selfishly claiming her and painting her walls white with his seed. Relishing in her warmth, he clings to her in his climax, not realizing the tears of relief streaming down his face.
Every ounce of tension in his body releases. The only sound in the room is their heavy breathing as they recover. She lets him linger inside her, seemingly aware of how far away heâs gone.
Eventually, the white space dims and he comes back into himself, sliding his softening cock out of her. He kisses her softly at the place where her neck meets her shoulder.
âIâThank you,â he whispers, voice low and gravely, unsure of what to say, unsure of how to make her understand that she managed to banish his self-hating demons away right when he needed her.
She turns around and pulls his head down, pressing her lips to his forehead. âAnything for you, Aus.â
His now-relaxed body fills with warmth at that.
Finding a box of tissues, he grabs a clump, then falls reverently to his knees in front of her with the intent of cleaning her up. He pulls up the hem of her dress, revealing the short thatch of hair at the top of her pussy, worked swollen and red from him.
âYou donât have to do that, Aus,â she breathes. He can sense the blush in her voice, a modesty that was absent when she was trying to help him through his panic.
âHush.â He taps her legs open and she relents quickly, unable to deny him. Pink and slick and bare to him, he looks up at her from below and adds, âYouâre beautiful.â
She flushes pink and bashfully looks away.
His initial task to clean her abandoned, he watches in a kind of awe and pride the way his spent arousal, mixed with her own, leaks from her tight, little hole. He abandons the tissues on the floor. So entranced is he that he canât stop himself from running his fingers through her folds and the slick.
She gasps from above, which quickly turns into a punctuated sigh when he leans forward and softly kisses her oversensitive nub. Fueled by her reaction and the deliciously musky taste of her on his lips, he flicks his tongue there.
She nearly doubles over, her hands flying into his sandy locks.
His body, still recovering from their sex, hums with pleasure. He laps at her again, and again. He canât seem to help himself because she just makes him feel so good.
She shudders over him, trying to still his head. âAus, I canât,â she whines. This was obviously not part of her plan to calm him.
He smiles against her clit, then pulls back to watch as he uses two long fingers to push his dripping arousal back up into her tight heat.
The sound of her loud moan resonates in the small space as she falls back against the door, eyes closing with pleasure.
He holds there for a moment before he turns his attention back to her puffy, oversexed clit. Licking, sucking, and kissing it, he teases her. He works her into a frenzied, whimpering mess above him.
He pulls away briefly. âAm I doing good?â he asks with a hopeful little smile, still needing her approval. He scissors his fingers, sliding them in and out of her soaking and nearly-wrecked pussy.
All she can seem to do is nod frantically. That thrill of praise runs through him again.
Diving back in, he relishes the taste of her, of them, adding a third digit into her stretched hole. The noises are obscene, the squelching of their combined arousal filling the room as he fucks her relentlessly with his fingers. Her mewling whimpers let him know heâs still satisfying her. He can feel himself hardening again, but itâs an afterthought to her pleasure.
âCum for me, baby, let me make you cum. Come on now,â he urges her.
Once he curls his fingers into that soft spot inside her and sucks on her nub just so, it doesnât take long until she goes rigid and comes undone with a panting shudder. Again.
Austin strokes her through her climax then releases her with one last soft kiss to her mound. Then he finally uses those tissues to clean her gently. She shudders with overstimulation.
âYou are too good, Austin Butler,â she gasps out.
âPromise?â he says, only half joking as they both put themselves back together.
Polly grabs him by the cheeks and stares directly into his big, blue eyes. âAus, you are one of the best, most talented men I have ever known. Anything you choose to do, you give it your all. You will do well,â she says seriously. âNow, go out there and kick some ass for me, will you?â She smiles and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
He canât help but grin from ear to ear, his doubts banished.
And even though he is nervous and emotional the night of the awards, he thinks of that sublime and calm white space where he is always good enough. And when he sings at the show, he gives it his all, knowing that Polly is watching.

Authorâs Note: And so weâve reached the final chapter! Honestly, it is actually two chapters worth of material but I didnât feel like adding another part of making yâall wait. So, strap in, thereâs a lot to come!
Word Count: 8726
You were quite certain you had never seen someone lose more graciously. From desperately clinging to Angela Bassetâs hands to surging to his feet to cheer on Brendan Fraser as he made his way to the stage, face wide with excitement for his fellow nominee and now Oscar winner. You were thankful to be standing beneath the shadow of the balcony box above as your heart fell through the floor and you were positive that you looked exactly as crestfallen as you felt.
Taking advantage of the time afforded by Brendanâs acceptance speech, and the Best Picture category, you managed to ruthlessly stomp down your disappointment and assemble your expression into a warm, kind, neutral mask before moving to join Austin once the broadcast came to an end. It took nearly an hour for him to make his way from the auditorium â there were simply that many people who wanted to snag a photo or offer their condolences. When you finally reached the doors, he looked to you and swallowed tightly.
âLetâs just go to Ysabel.â He murmured into your ear, and you nodded, sending Ari a message to meet you around the side, away from the press, to make a quick exit to the Warner Brotherâs party.
While the Governorâs Ball would be lavish, with food and drink fit for royalty, it was undeniably biased towards celebrating the winners and you could hardly blame Austin for not wanting to go through that. Especially not when, waiting at the private party were people like Polly, Xavier, Kelvin, and Luke. As the car pulled up, you opened the door for him, looking up to his face as he held out a hand to help you in. You smiled softly and slid in carefully, moving across the backseat to the other side so he could climb in immediately after you. Though he did so chuckling and shaking his head.
âI coulda gone around, you know Betty.â He smirked softly and closed the door against the noise outside, leaning back against the seat as the silence of the car wrapped around the pair of you.
Ari carefully navigated his way to West Hollywood, and you politely watched the darkened streets flow past the window. The outcome of the evening was not sitting well with you. It felt like the wrong ending. Like the writer had made a terrible mistake and it just needed a brutal treatment by an editor. Unfortunately, real life did not work that way.
At the brush of his fingers against yours on the seat between you, you looked to him quickly, swallowing tightly as he took your hand and squeezed tightly.
âThank you, Betty spaghetti, for helping me make it through the insanity of awards season. Iâm sorry weâre not on the winning team tonightâŠâ His voice waivered a bit and your fingers tightened around his. âBut weâre on the living team and thatâs in no small part to youâŠâ
You shook your head, a touch violently, and took an unsteady breath as your heart clenched in sympathy.
âYou have nothing to apologize for, Mr. Butler. What you have accomplished is truly extraordinaryâŠd..did you hear them? Every time a presenter came on stage they referred to them as a nomineeâŠyou will forever be Academy Award Nominee Austin Butler. And not to mention Golden Globe Winner Austin Butler, and BAFTA winner Austin Butler, and Virtuoso Award Winner Austin Butler, and whatever Palm Springs gave youâŠâ You trailed off and he gave you a laugh, with tear-filled eyes, as that definitely took some of the power out of your speech. âBut regardless, this is just the start. Your opening act.â You nodded firmly and gasped as he pulled you into a crushing embrace, burying his face into the crook of your shoulder.
âThank you, BettyâŠI really needed to hear thatâŠâ He whispered, voice fragile against your neck and you could feel the undeniable dampness of tears on your skin as you slid your arms around him tightly in return, holding him firmly for as long as he needed to be held.
âYouâre welcomeâ You murmured softly into the expensive fabric of his tuxedo jacket, neither of you aware of the fact that Ari had parked around the corner from the restaurant a good five minutes ago until he politely cleared his throat.
âSorry to interrupt but I believe a photographer may have spotted us.â He said quietly from the front seat and Austin quickly straightened, wiping at his face.
You pulled back with similar speed, tugging your dress into place before sliding out from the car to walk around the perimeter and open his door. Walking together, he entered the party to a heroâs welcome, which brought a small smile to his face.
Being swarmed by those who had seen firsthand what it had taken to achieve the artistry captured on film for eternity acted as a balm for Austin. You found the tension and concern leaving your own body a little as he relaxed and seemed to enjoy himself. And when Jerry Schilling showed up? Austinâs smile only grew. You had to chew on the inside of your cheek to keep from beaming as they huddled close on a bench in the courtyard, swapping stories and kind words. Austinâs instincts to come here had definitely been correct.
He ate a somewhat proper dinner and once buoyed by their love and support, made his way to you a little over an hour later.
âWe should go meet the stylists at the house to get ready for the Vanity Fair party.â
You nodded quickly, having been eyeing the time and trying to wait as long as possible to allow him to soak in as much of their presence as he could.
âAri is waiting exactly where we left him.â
While he went upstairs to change, you took advantage of the quiet moment to eat some dinner yourself, sitting at the island as you carefully enjoyed some leftovers with a tea towel draped over your chest. Biscuit was dozing at your feet, somewhat used to the odd hours of awards season, but still not entirely awake. The pair of you lifted your heads at the click of his heeled boots on the kitchen tile as he returned now dressed in a treacherously low-cut silk shirt and black suit. You were grateful that you remembered how to swallow the food in your mouth rather than letting it tumble out, slack-jawed. But only just.
âThat still smells good, Betty, gimme a biteâŠâ He leaned in and you carefully loaded a forkful before sliding it past his plush lips. You paid far too close attention to the way his perfectly straight, white teeth scraped the food from the metal fork tines before his lips seal shut as he began to chew.
He made the tiniest noise of pleasure and your eyes flicked up to watch his eyelids fall shut as he nodded with enthusiasm.
âWe did a really good job on that oneâŠâ He smiled once heâd swallowed, squeezing your shoulder as he licked his lips. âI promise I wonât keep you out too late, you must be tired.â
You tugged the tea towel free of your body, not missing the way his eyes flit to the plunge of your dress. His height and your seated position surely giving him an eyeful before he yanked his gaze away forcefully. You slid from the stool to put your dishes in the dishwasher as goosebumps prickled in the wake of his stare.
âWe are going to a party for you to have fun and celebrate the fact that this insanity is over. We will stay exactly as long as you would like.â You replied stubbornly and left Biscuit with dinner before leading him out to the car.
In the dark of the vehicle, you retrieved the tube of lipstick the makeup team had left you from your dress pocket and carefully reapplied some, trying to ignore the sensation that he was watching you.
In the ranking of afterparties, this was certainly the most press intense. There was also a rather breathless moment where Austinâs ex-girlfriend happened past him while he was in conversation with Sharon Stone. Mercifully, everyone did an excellent job of playing blind and after an assault of photography flash and shouted commands, you were inside the party.
There was mixing, mingling, drinking, and nibbling. Kate, Baz, Catherine and some of the Elvis cast also appeared. At one point Austin was pulled aside to have some photos taken by Mark Seliger. There was no shortage of toasts in his name, and when Brendan Fraser arrived he immediately sought Austin out to hug him close. Smiling fondly, you felt your phone begin to vibrate in your pocket and rolled your eyes playfully thinking Maddie was going on another tirade. Given the time, she really ought to be in bed.
You could barely contain your confusion when your fatherâs name displayed on the screen and felt a cold trickle of panic drip down your spine to settle in the pit of your stomach. Your father never called. Let alone in the middle of the night. You forcefully pushed the answer call button and lifted the phone to your ear, eyes casting about for somewhere quieter but also flicking back to Austin â torn between the urgency of this call and the importance of your duties.
âHey dad, IâŠWhatâs up?â You found yourself half-shouting as you cupped the bottom of the phone to hopefully capture as much of your voice as possible.
Only select words were audible above the din of the crowd and the throb of the bass from the music.
ââŠ.motherâŠ.townâŠ.muggedâŠ.hospitalâŠ.okâŠ.â
Austin was making his way over to you excitedly talking about a private island in the Bahamas that someone had offered for him to relax upon as you felt all the blood drain from your face and extremities, the snippets of your fatherâs words making your hands clammy and shaky.
âDaddy, just wait I canâtâŠâ You glanced around frantically now, vaguely registering the change in Austinâs countenance.
His arms wrapped around you, hands gripping your hips as he easily navigated through the crowd to lead you out onto the patio. He did not stop walking until he reached the very edge of the party and continued to shield your body from the curious glances of the other attendees you had passed, caging you against the fence as you could at last hear yourself think.
âIâm outside now, what happened?â You tried again, feeling yourself swaying a little on your feet as he relayed the full story of some local troubled youths who had decided to mug your mother and her friends on their monthly night at the theatre in town.
You clutched at the lapel of Austinâs jacket, desperate for some stability as the entire universe seemed to be off kilter.
âYour motherâs friend, Cynthia, well she fought back and itâŠdidnât end well. Everyone isâŠwell theyâre hurt but the hospital discharged them all same day, todayâŠwell tonight.â You could hear the exhaustion in his voice. âSheâs just gone up to bed, told me not to call you butâŠâ
You shook your head quickly and swallowed roughly, trying to find your voice.
âNo, no thank you for calling me IâŠsheâs really going to be ok?â You asked quietly, feeling all of six-years-old despite the fact that you were standing in a gown at the Vanity Fair Oscarâs After Party wrapped up in Austin Butlerâs protective embrace. âIâŠtell her I love her ok, Dad? IâllâŠIâll talk to my bossâŠNo IâŠDad. Dad, I want to see you guys IâŠthank you for calling. Love you too. Bye.â
You let the phone drop from your ear but made no move to stand fully, rather preferring to hide against Austinâs chest and ignore the outside revelry for as long as possible. You leaned into him, the crown of your head settling against the hollow of his throat as his arms slid around you fully, supporting you more than you would care to admit as you tried to take steady breaths.
âBetty, I would like to give you time, I just need to know youâre not going to keel over on me hereâŠâ He murmured gently into your ear. You nodded quickly, rocking back on your heels and straightening so quickly he looked briefly startled before resuming a patient and supportive expression.
âSome little shits decided to jump my mom and her friends on their way home from a play tonight.â Your gaze was unfocused as you were picturing the faces of the known delinquents.
âOh BettyâŠâ His voice broke as he gripped your shoulders tightly to help steady you on your feet.
âMy momâŠsheâs not like me, sheâs a lady. She does lady things like get her nails done, and bake, and go to the spa and the theatre andâŠThis is not how tonight was supposed to go. She was supposed to have fun with her friends watching some local people do a Tennessee Williams play and get a little tipsy and come homeâŠ.and you were supposed to win because you deserve it so much. You put everything in that role, which was incredible by the wayâ you dropped the wall of professionalism for the first time, âand youâve dragged your ass around in this dog and pony show, performing tricks for them for weeks only for them to give it to the other guy and now here you are putting on a brave face and watching me fall apart at an after partyâŠâ Your cheeks were wet and youâd started sniffling somewhere in the middle of your tirade against awards season, though you werenât quite sure when.
âOh, my darling BettyâŠsweet Betty spaghetti donât waste your anger on this frivolity. Weâve spent months on this empty preening for golden statutes and here you are staring down the things that really matter and youâre spilling your priceless tears over meâŠâ his hands cupped the sides of your head gently as his thumbs swiped at each traitorous tear that stole down your cheek. âLetâs get you home, ok?â
You gripped his wrists and looked up to him, brow furrowing.
âBut Iâm ruining your nightâŠâ You protested weakly as he shook his head.
âYouâre reminding me of what really matters, come on.â He slid his arm around your shoulders protectively, guiding you back through the crowd of attendees.
You kept your head low, certain your makeup must be ruined, arranging for Ari to meet you at the side door. Austin helped you into the car and pulled out his own phone once you were settled.
âYou find a way home, Iâll call Scott.â
You looked to him startled.
âLikeâŠright now? I meantâŠI meant once you were on your vacation or somethingâŠâ
âNow, Betty. Youâre going home, home. Now.â He nodded firmly and dialed Scott before you could utter another word in protest.
Swallowing tightly, you pulled out your phone to make travel arrangements to get home as soon as possible. He went upstairs to change when you arrived back at his house, and you went into his office to pack but he found you fifteen minutes later, still standing in the doorway dressed in your gown, staring at your empty suitcase open on the bed.
âCâmereâŠâ He said gently and pulled you close into the soft hoodie he now wore. âFacing the mortality of our parents is a truly foundation-shaking experience.â He murmured into your hair, and you nodded speechlessly.
He helped you fill your suitcase with some clothes and useful things, sending you to the washroom to change into something more practical for travel. You wiped the makeup from your face and blew your nose a few times before collecting your things.
âAre you sure about this, Austin? I could always delayâŠâ
He cut you off with a shake of his head, gently pressing his lips to your cheek.
âIâll be fine, you go take care of your family.â
In your fragile state, you had been easily seduced by his words of comfort. Fooled into believing that, despite all evidence to the contrary, he would be perfectly fine in your absence. That there wasnât a psychologically unstable woman out there hellbent on killing him for the spiritual transgressions she so strongly believed he had committed.
It had been the right thing, for you personally, to go home. It felt good to be in the embrace of family, to gather with the people you loved and support one another after such a scare. It had admittedly been far too long since you had been home, regardless, and you made a vow to not let it be so long in the future. On Wednesday, Maddie and her mother came by with a casserole and you took is to the kitchen to allow them a chance to visit with your parents â to let them relax in the living room.
The shot of the coastal highway on the TV screen in the corner of the kitchen caught your eye as you began to assemble a salad to balance the richness of the casserole. It screamed for your attention, despite its anonymous, sundrenched beauty. Grasping the salad bowl tightly, you reached out to turn up the volume, your eyes skating over the variety of emergency vehicles assembled at the sceneâŠthe automotive debris scattered across the asphalt. Thatâs when his name splashed across the screen.
 Austin Butler in Critical Condition
âThe award-winning actor was transported by rescue helicopter to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre where he is listed in critical condition. His driver was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital in stable condition. The female driver of the vehicle suspected of running him off the road was pronounced dead at the scene. The FBI is now confirming that she was their primary suspect in a string a threatening letters sent to the actorâŠâ
You had not even noticed the heirloom crystal bowl slide from your fingers and shatter against the kitchen tile until Maddie called your name sharply from the doorway. You glanced down through rapidly blurring eyes and swore thickly, crouching down to quickly pick up the scattered shards. Shock had stolen all sensation from your fingertips, the countless nicks on your skin marked only by red blossoms of blood.
âWhat the fuck are you doing?!â Maddie shouted and yanked you back at which point you collapsed against her sobbing. You had failed him. You had left for selfish personal reasons and now he was clinging to life alone in a hospital room.
Several Band-Aids and a cup of tea later, you were once again packing your suitcase. The gut-wrenching reaction to his accident had equalled that youâd felt for your own mother. And was hanging around like a bad penny, filling you to the brim with nervous energy. There was no possible way you could deny what Austin meant to you any longer. You would only be lying to yourself. To him. And he deserved better than that.
âYouâre gonna make it to LA ok?â Maddie asked quietly as she zipped up your suitcase and you sighed heavily.
âIâll do my best, MadsâŠthank youâŠâ You hugged her tightly before saying proper farewells to your parents and heading out.
It was well past visiting hours when you arrived at the hospital, but youâd called Scott on the way and he was there waiting to lead you up to Austinâs hospital room.
âHeâs been upgraded to stable condition, youâll be relieved to know.â He informed you as the doors to the elevator closed.
âScott Iâm so sorry IâŠâ You looked to him as you rose floor by floor.
He looked to you startled.
âWhat on earthâŠsorry you werenât there to get hurt? Thereâs nothing you could have done to prevent this. Nothing you could have done in that car but increase the list of injured or worse. Thank hell you werenât thereâŠHowâs your mom?â He asked quickly and you smiled just the hint of a smile.
âSo much betterâŠIâŠit was good to see her.â
âGood.â He nodded firmly and led you to the room where an armed police officer watched the door. He introduced you to the man as Austinâs bodyguard, all pretense now dropped in light of the story having gone public since the accident, and quietly led you into the room where Austin lay. âIâll leave you to itâŠâ He whispered and nodded before stepping out.
Because the unit was a higher level of care, the door remained open to the nursing station to allow them to keep an eye on him, but he otherwise had the spacious room to himself. The bed and monitoring equipment only served to make him look small. You pressed your fingers to your lips, trying to smother your shaking breaths as they seemed to thunder in the otherwise quiet room. The only other sound was the beeping of his heart rate monitor â reassuringly steady.
Your eyes scanned across his face and down his body, taking stock of marks that would bruise and numerous abrasions. The image of him beneath the stark white, antiseptic blankets began to blur and you sealed your hand over your mouth as you tried to focus on the expanse of the city lights out the window beside him, tried to regain your composure, when you heard him rasp your name.
You moved closer to the head of the bed, leaning in to see his eyes made glassy from pain medication trying to focus on your face.
âAustin, Iâm hereâŠâ He reached out with his left hand and you took it carefully, trying to wipe your tears away quickly with your other.
âOh Betty, there you go wastinâ those tears againâŠâ He murmured and you couldnât help but laugh.
He chuckled briefly before wincing with a groan and you frowned deeply.
âJusâ some broken ribs, Iâll be all rightâŠâ
âShitâŠI shoulda been there AustinâŠIâm so sorryâŠâ You whispered, fresh tears spilling from your eyes.
He reached with his free hand, grunting in pain as he wiped at your face, only making your lip wobble, sobs building in your throat.
âI have to resign.â You choked out suddenly and his eyes flashed to your face.
âWhat jusâ because you werenât here?!â He asked incredulously, words slightly slurred.
Shaking your head, you took a deep, fortifying breath.
âIâve gone and done something I shouldnât.â You whispered.
His brow furrowed as he looked at you quizzically.
âIâve fallen in love with the client.â You confessed, holding your breath as you were only brave enough to risk glances at his face before looking back for your entwined hands.
âOh, thank godâ he exhaled after what felt like an eternity and released your hand, cupping the back of your neck to pull you close.
You braced your hands on other side of the hospital bed, not wanting to jostle him, to cause him any pain, as you brushed your lips against his gently.
âYouâd better give me a better kiss than thatâŠâ He teased, mouth moving against yours as he held you stubbornly close.
âI donât want to hurt you, AustinâŠâ You protested, feeling the rough edges of the abraded side of lips against your own.
âIâve been dyinâ to kiss ya since you threw Marwan into the floor in Palm SpringsâŠpleaseâŠ.â He whispered.
âHow much medication have you hadâŠâ You hissed, half playful, half mortified, still hovering above his lips.
He whined your name, completely washing away the last of your resolve and you slotted your mouth against his firmly, shifting your weight onto one hand to slide the other into his hair on the uninjured side of his face. He hummed against your lips eagerly, fingers curling into the skin at the base of your neck as his lips moved against yours needily. You sighed deeply, warmth spreading through your entire body, until a politely rapping on the door frame had you quickly pulling back from his lips.
âSo sorry to interruptâŠâ The nurse could barely contain her grin as she came in to check Austin over, noting his vitals in his electronic chart, before leaving you two alone.
âGuess I donât get a vacationâŠâ He pouted playfully and you shook your head, pulling up a chair to settle at the head of his bed.
âOne day at a time, AustinâŠLetâs get you home first, ok? And for that to happen, you need to sleepâŠâ You smoothed his brow with your thumb, fingertips stroking his curls.
âJust wanted to go to the beach while the groomers got Biscuit ready for our tripâŠthe car came outta nowhereâŠThey said Ari is ok, heâs really ok, right?â He rambled sleepily.
âYes, at a hospital in Santa Barbara, stable just like you.â You reassured him gently.
âYouâll be here when I wake upâŠ? Youâll stay?â He whispered with open fragility.
âYes, Iâll be right here AustinâŠrestâŠâ
âLove you, tooâŠâ He breathed.
You smiled softly as he closed his eyes, quickly falling asleep, clinging to your other hand.
Sleeping in a chair with your hand trapped in his grip was hardly comfortable, nor were the frequent interruptions by the nurses to check his vitals and administer frequent cognitive tests â you surmised the reason was a concussion he had neglected to share with you, restful. But there was honestly no other place in the entire world you would have rather been. Daylight brought the arrival of his father and you moved to step out, but Austin insisted you stay.
He held his hand out to you once heâd settled back into the bed following a nurse assisted bathroom trip. You shyly avoided the knowing smile of his father, sliding your fingers through his. The attending physician arrived not long after and delivered the full litany of Austinâs injuries. You clung to his hand silently as his father asked the follow-up questions, doing your utmost to fight back the urge to let the guilt overwhelm you once more.
âWe anticipate that Mr. Butler will be able to head home tomorrow but he will absolutely require assistance in his home, including supportive devices, and physiotherapy as he recovers.â
You heard Austinâs father suck the air between his teeth, knowing he had a life and responsibilities of his own back in Arizona while you? Well, you were recently unemployed and more than willing to take the time off to care for the man you loved.
âIâll be happy to take care of everything.â You swallowed and looked to Austin. âIf youâre ok with that?â
He looked to you, face softening.
âI am more than ok with that, you beautiful womanâŠâ He sighed lovingly and lifted your hand to kiss the back of it gently.
âWonderful, Iâll send in Occupational Therapy to help you prepare for his homecoming.â The physician departed just as Kate appeared, looking fresh off the plane from somewhere tropical. She even smelled of coconut suntan lotion.
Though he was still quite medicated, Kate worked with Austin to determine the loose parameters of a press release before she set up in the corner of the room, calling her team to hammer it out. Austinâs father pulled you into a grateful hug before making a trip to cafeteria for coffee and food for the three of you and you remained at Austinâs side as he still refused to release your hand.
Once everyone was fed, the nurses insisted Austin needed his rest. Kate took Austinâs father home while you met with OT in a nearby conference room, arranging for the necessary items to be delivered. You gave Trey a call to make sure he could let the deliveries in, before creeping back into the room to doze some more in the chair. As visiting hours came to a close, you left a pouting Austin for the night, placating him with the knowledge that you were going to his house to set up for him to come home in the morning.
You were struck by the scent of flowers when you stepped into the house, every surface on the main floor covered in floral arrangements from friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances. The second thing you noticed was a very enthusiastic Biscuit who was surely very confused and lonely but looked very good from her well-timed trip to the groomerâs.
Austinâs father already had a head start when you arrived, setting up the shower chair and the supportive pillows on the bed. The last thing that had to be done was taking the mattress from the murphy bed in the office to lay on the floor of Austinâs bedroom so that you could be close by to assist him in moving around. You made up the beds with fresh sheets before passing out for the night with Biscuit in your arms, alarm set for six the next morning.
You showered and ate the breakfast that Austinâs father generously prepared for the two of you before you got the discharge call from the nurse. The pair of you headed over in Austinâs car to pick him up, greeted by a beaming, lanky man in a wheelchair whose mood was utter elation at being released. In a group effort, the three of you got him to his feet and into the front seat of the car, buckling him in and closing the door before taking him home.
The next few weeks were entirely devoted to getting Austin well. His father was able to stay for a few days, cooking all the meals and filling the freezer with food. At first, Austin mainly rested, but you insisted he spend some time on the main floor and outside, keeping him moving to avoid any negative complications. His physiotherapy appointments began after a few days and they carefully taped up his ribs which went a long way to improving his comfort level. His bruises slowly transitioned through the rainbow as they healed, and his abrasions smoothed out. The many kisses he insisted upon helped you to confirm this.
Scott arranged for the FBI to present their findings on the case to Austin at home, and the entire team breathed a sigh of relief when it was confirmed that the deceased driver was indeed the woman responsible for the threats and letters. With the case now closed, the contract with Lane Protective Services was ended and you found yourself alone in the house with Austin. His sister, Ashley, made a weekend visit, but on the whole his home was one of peace and solitude. One in which your rather young relationship blossomed.
As his strength increased, you began to take him on short walks with Biscuit, choosing to still carry your firearm. It would take some time, it seemed, for you to shake that habit. On a particularly warm day at the beginning of April, at Austinâs request, you settled out on the pool deck in bathing suits to soak up some sun. You found yourself smiling as you looked over his torso.
âYou can barely see your bruises.â You remarked softly, fingers brushing along his side gently, well aware that he still had healing ribs beneath.
âMust be thanks to you, sweet Betty, taking such good care of meâŠâ He grinned, hand grasping your wrist to lift your fingertips to kiss each one.
Your tongue darted out to wet your lips before pulling your lower lip to sink your teeth into it as he pressed his mouth to your palm.
âIf my body wasnât still brokenâŠâ He groaned against your skin.
âSâŠs..sorry.â You apologized quickly, accidentally licking your lips again.
He growled a little and cupped to back of your head, pulling you down for a hungry kiss. His lips had barely pressed against yours before his tongue was licking into your mouth, seeking yours eagerly. Sinking onto your knees on the pool deck, you braced yourself on the arm of the lounger, trying desperately to keep your body weight off of him as he seemed to be sucking the strength from your body, turning your bones into molten metal.
He pulled back with a grunt, gasping for breath as he wasnât able to hold deep breaths just yet, but immediately moved to trail his lips down your neck, punctuating his kisses with gentle nips of his teeth that had you trembling above him.
âAustinâŠâ You panted. âYou gotta be carefulâŠâ Your warning was choked off into a moan as he sealed his mouth over your pulse point and began to suck at your skin making your control waiver.
You pushed yourself back from him, chest heaving, terrified as youâd almost crashed into him.
âCome backâŠâ He pouted huskily, licking his lips.
âAustinâŠfuck I almost fell on you this isnât safeâŠâ You rasped, voice obviously affected.
You watched as he pulled and chewed at his lips for a moment before carefully pushing himself to sitting and then to standing.
âCome onâŠâ He held out his hand and you took it carefully, following after him suspiciously, but also unable to deny the heat of desire pulsing through your veins.
He made a brief detour to the kitchen, setting up Biscuit with a puzzle toy before taking you upstairs, closing the bedroom door behind you.
âLay on the bed beside me? Then you canât fall?â
âWhat if I move too much?â
âIâll tell you if it hurts, sweet Betty, I just need to touch you so badlyâŠâ He whispered heatedly as he cupped your cheeks, stealing the breath from your lungs, before leaning in to press his lips to yours in a scorching kiss that easily erased any and all reason from your mind.
He carefully walked you over to the bed, sliding up onto the pile of pillows, looking back to you expectantly once he was settled. You gingerly crawled onto the bed next to him, laying on your side as you shifted closer until you were within his reach. He pulled you close, mouth latching onto your neck once more, pulling another ragged moan from your throat as one hand came to knead at your hip and butt cheek.
Moving slowly, you slid your leg over his, giving him ample time to protest in pain before your thigh pressed against the growing bulge between his thighs. When no outcry of pain reached our ears, only a shuddering sigh against your damp skin that sent goosebumps racing down your neck, you applied subtle pressure and friction, pleased when his lips crashed into yours once more. Burying one hand into his golden curls, you allowed the other to skim down the muscles of his chest and abdomen, tracing the hard planes beneath his smooth, soft skin.
You felt his hand shift to cup between your legs, your hips bucking into his touch involuntarily as he stroked at your folds through the thin fabric of your swimsuit with his long, elegant fingers, confirming your long-suspected hypothesis that he was indeed very good with his hands. You tore your lips from his to cry out eagerly as his skilled digits pushed aside the inconvenient fabric to touch your bare skin, immediately seeking your sensitive bundle of nerves. His head shifted lower to kiss and nip at your cleavage before huffing against your chest in frustration.
âCan you take off your suit for me?â He pleaded hoarsely, looking up to you with blown pupils, only a tiny ring of blue iris now surrounding them.
Licking your lips you nodded, carefully disentangling your limbs from his to shift back, sliding from the bed to work the suit from your body. You could feel the heat of his gaze as he watched you expose your body, the moisture evaporating from your mouth, making it impossible to swallow as you climbed back onto the bed with him.
âYou are unspeakably gorgeousâŠâ He breathed, reaching out to pull you close to him, lavishing kisses along every inch of exposed skin he could now access as his fingers resumed their torment of your clit, the pad of his thumb circling and pressing at your entrance.
âAhn! Austin!â You whimpered, bending the knee of your top leg and planting your foot between his calves to give him more room to work, admittedly greedy for his touch.
âSweet girl youâre positively drenchedâŠâ He breathed against your breast before sealing his lips around your nipple, sinking a finger into the heat of your cunt.
You wailed and arched against him at the dual assault, fingers tugging at his hair before holding him to your breast needily. Rocking the heel of his hand against your clit, he began to rhythmically work his finger in and out of your heat before adding a second, growling hungrily against your skin at the eager gush of arousal your body rewarded him with. He withdrew his hand from between your legs, making you whimper at the loss, eyes flashing open only to be treated to the sight of him devouring every drop of your nectar from his hand.
âOh, please I need to taste youâŠâ He pleaded, hooded eyes burning into yours. âCan you get above me?â
You did not need a second invitation. With legs like jelly, it was more challenging than first anticipated, but with the assistance of the frame around the top of the bed you were able to kneel on the pillows on either side of his head before sinking down onto his eagerly waiting mouth. He barely gave you a moment to breathe before his wicked tongue was working through your folds, his lips slurping up your arousal, filling the room with an obscene mixture of noise as you moaned helplessly. He suckled at your clit before burying the pointed length of his tongue deep into your cunt, hooking his good arm over your hip to pull you down and encourage you to grind your bundle of nerves against his nose as he rocked his head from side to side. You pressed your face into your bicep as your thighs began to shake, eyes clenching shut as you could feel yourself just on the precipice.
One hand moved to cup your breast, massaging and pinching at your nipple as you gave in and rocked dock against Austinâs face, earning a deep moan from the man below you. The vibrations ricocheted through your body and sent you surging forward, tumbling into your release with a harsh cry of his name. Slumping forward against the wall, wave after wave of shuddering pleasure flowed through your body as you felt him avidly lap up all your body had to offer until you had to pull back, climb off him, as it was just too much â you were too sensitive.
Settling onto the mattress beside him, you leaned in to kiss Austin warmly, giggling a little at his face was soaked. He just grinned at you proudly. Rolling over, you found some tissues on the nightstand and gently wiped at his cheeks and chin before tossing them into the bin on the floor beside him, the prominent outline of his hard cock beneath his swim trunks catching your eye.
âWould you like some assistance with this?â You asked, sitting at his hip and running your fingers along the waistband of his suit.
His teeth sunk into the plush pink of his lower lip as he nodded, and you worked together to slide the bathing suit off his hips and down his legs. It was not the first time you had seen him naked â you had been helping him shower, towel off, and change since his return from the hospital, but this was different. And not just because his sizable length lay hard and angry against his abdomen. The intention set the tone, this was about pleasure, and you allowed yourself to enjoy the full expanse of his sun-kissed, freckled skin.
âUnspeakably gorgeous, was it?â You breathed and reached up to cup the tip of his length, collecting the precum that pooled there before wrapping your fingers around him, stroking his cock and delighting in the way it made the muscles of his abdomen flutter.
âOh fuckâŠâ He hissed, writhing against the duvet.
Licking your lips, you slithered down onto your stomach, planting an elbow between his legs and laying your chest across his uninjured hip as you licked a broad stripe from base to tip, grinning as his hips jerked towards your mouth. His whimper reminded you to be merciful and you gently began to sink your mouth down onto him, taking as much of his cock as this angle would allow, leaving your lips parted to allow your saliva to flow freely over his rest of his length and further down between his thighs.
He moaned your name as you wrapped your hand around the base of him before you began to work up and down, hollowing your cheeks and tracing the prominent vein on the underside of his cock with your tongue. He whimpered and rambled, fingers gripping the back of your head. You hummed in sympathy, and he writhed beneath you, length twitching against your tongue.
âPlease! Oh, please get back up here I wanna kiss you when I cum, wanna pretend Iâm inside youâŠâ He pleaded and you pulled back, releasing his cock from your mouth with a pop, before laying on your side.
His lips crashed against yours as you slid your leg over his, hand resuming the rhythm of your mouth. His hand gripped your ass and his hips rocked in time with the strokes of your fist. You found yourself grinding your still-damp core against his thigh, earning a ragged groan against your lips.
âGonnaâŠgonnaâŠâ He panted and you opened your eyes to take in as much of his face as he could, his breath panting into your open mouth before he gave a sharp cry and spilled his climax against his stomach as you continued to gently stroke his length to prolong his pleasure.
As the tension left his body, allowing him to sink into the mattress, you kissed the corner of his mouth softly and retrieved a warm washcloth to clean him up. You helped him into his pajamas, frowning as he gave tiny hisses of pain, but the lopsided grin never left his lips.
A pathetic awooo from the hallway alerted you to the fact that Biscuit was well finished with her puzzle toy and now aware of her locked-out status. You quickly slid on your own pajamas before scooping her up from the doorway to settle her at Austinâs good hip to allow the pair to settle in for an afternoon nap.
He only continued to get stronger as his bones and ligaments healed, yourself and Biscuit joining him in bed nightly by the end of April. And while creative solutions were keeping the pair of you satisfied enough, when Austinâs physician finally cleared him for more strenuous activity, both of you admittedly had the same thought.
The evening began innocently enough, with a nice dinner the two of you made together, with a delicious wine now that Austin was no longer on pain medication. You talked for hours, still in the beginning stages of your relationship where there was more to discover about one another, before cleaning up the kitchen. Yet it ended with you on your back, legs hanging off the side of the mattress, propped up on your elbows as you salaciously watched him indulgently stroke his cock a few times before carefully rolling the condom down his length.
Chest heaving, cunt throbbing from the orgasm he had just wrung from you and the promise of him inside you at last, you chewed your lip impatiently.
âDonât you go damaging those plush pretty lips, sweet Betty, I like kissing them far too much.â He leaned down carefully to prove his point, the wet muscle of his tongue twining with yours until you were both humming with need.
He straightened, guiding your hips to the very edge of the bed before sliding his length through the slick of your folds, gathering as much as possible while teasing your clit before shifting to slowly begin sinking into your wet heat. Your eyes rolled back in your head as you dropped back onto the mattress, keening softly as you gripped his wrists while he stretched and filled you impossibly full.
âOh myâŠfuck you feel so goodâŠâ He hissed above you, his fingers curling into the flesh of your hips.
âOh yesâŠâ You panted in return, rocking your hips against his experimentally, a chorus of moans falling from both of your lips.
It was all the motivation he needed to pull his hips back before immediately sinking back into your demanding warmth. And while you wished he were closer, wished you could be wrapped up in his arms, it was amazing to finally feel so connected to him, completed by him.
âAustin!â You exclaimed, too overwhelmed to put the emotions swirling in your chest into more words beyond his name.
âI knowâŠ.I knowâŠâ He panted between thrusts. âI loveâŠyou tooâŠâ He moaned your name raggedly and rocked harder, thrust faster, pushing you ever closer to release.
âLoveâŠyouâŠâ You whimpered in return, feeling your walls starting to clamp down around him.
âOh, fuck yesâŠâ He quickly reached for your clit, circling it in a way that he knew after weeks of practice would make you cum, and growled happily as you did just that, scratching at his forearms a little as you clenched around his length through wave after wave of climax. âYes!â He barked out triumphantly before thrusting erratically once, twice more, joining you in release.
You could feel him sway on his feet, recognizing that though the position had kept pressure and impact from his body it had demanded tremendous physical effort of him. You quickly shifted back to slide his length from you before guiding him to sit on the bed. Peppering his face with kisses, you rid him of the condom and then helped him into his pajamas, noticing the winces.
âWould you like heat or cold for that?â You frowned, guiding him to lay down.
âHeat pleaseâŠâ He sighed a little. âSo worth it thoughâŠâ he smirked, and you rolled your eyes playfully before kissing him gently.
âWell, itâs a good thing I left the mattress on the floor. Biscuit and I will let you have the bed tonight.â You teased before getting him some over-the-counter pain killers and a heating pad.
Tucking away the stairs that helped Biscuit access the bed, you and the dog curled up on the mattress on the floor beside him, kissing the tips of his fingers as he dropped his hand down while wishing you a good night before his slow, steady breaths filled the room.
Biscuitâs low growl startled you awake some hours later and you lay perfectly still, trying to locate the source of her upset. The less-than-subtle sound of footsteps thundering up the stairs not seconds later provided you with a very clear answer and had you surging to your feet. Your firearm was locked in a small safe on the other side of the bed and based on the speed of the approaching intruder in the hallway, you did not have time. You shook Austin awake as you launched yourself over the foot of the bed just before the door flew open, the metal of a gun barrel flashing in the glow of the streetlights from the hallway.
You surged up, under the intruderâs arm to push the muzzle upwards as he pulled the trigger, sending the bullet into the ceiling in a shower of drywall and paint chips. Biscuit was barking at a ferocious pitch you had never before heard as you struggled with the shadowy figureâs bulk, trying to wrestle the gun free. Another shot was directed into the hardwood floor before you were able to claw the gun from his hand. His elbow snapped back, slamming into your nose with a sickening crunch. A gush of warmth down your face and the coppery tang of blood filled your mouth â an oddly nostalgic sensation that took you right back to a Judo match.
The intruder let out a sudden wail and jerked back, and you felt something fluffy dart past your legs. Biscuit had scored one for the home team. The gun now fully in your grasp, you threw it into the ensuite bathroom before taking down the freshly bitten man with a Judo throw while he was distracted by the pain. You knelt in the middle of his back, pinning his arms behind him.
âAustin, I need something to tie him!â You cried out, listening to his footfalls as he made his way from the ensuite, where he must have been hiding, to the nightstand, and then over to the foot of the bed where you were.
He procured a pair of silver handcuffs and you looked to him in slight disbelief, before gesturing with your head for him to secure the assailantâs hands.
âIâm going to put him in the chair, donât want to compromise his airway any longerâŠ.heâs probably going to say terrible thingsâŠâ
âIâm ready, Betty.â Austin said through gritted teeth and you hauled the incapacitated man to his feet before forcing him down onto the chair of the built-in makeup stand that Austinâs former girlfriend had designed. âTurn on the lights?â
Everyone blinked rapidly to adjust to the sudden brightness, and you swore under your breath as you recognized the dog-walking, brick-throwing, psychopath-loving man who was supposed to be in prison in Santa Barbara.
âGabriel.â You muttered in shock.
âYou fucking godless whore bitch!â He spit at you and you didnât bother moving, not wanting to loosen your grip on him.
You had Austin call the police on speaker phone while you strapped the man to the chair with a series of belts, as he continued to spew hate and vitriol at both you and Austin.
âBetty youâre bleedingâŠâ Austin whispered at one point, trying to wipe at your face.
âLaterâŠâ You whispered back, not wanting to take an eye off the man.
âThe love of my life is dead because of the two of you! She was a righteous woman! How is she dead and the two of you are alive! You do not deserve to walk this earth!â
The police, thankfully, showed up rather quickly and took the man back into custody. They collected the manâs firearm from the ensuite, as well the bullets from the floor and ceiling, before taking your statements and assuring you that these charges would keep the man locked up for a much longer time than throwing bricks.
You allowed Austin to pull you into the bathroom once theyâd left, sitting on the counter patiently as he gently cleaned the blood from your face before testing your nose.
âI donât think itâs brokenâŠâ
You shook your head carefully.
âJust a solid whack. Iâll have a nice pair of black eyes tomorrow, most likely.â
He frowned deeply and kissed your forehead.
âOh, Betty Iâm so sorryâŠâ
âIâm not. That bastard deserved worse than Biscuit gave himâŠWe should get her some extra treats.â You smiled weakly as he snorted into your hair.
âIâm going to get the ice and then the three of us are booking that damn vacation to an island far away. Deal?â
You nodded your acquiescence and it was less that thirty-six hours from the time you confirmed the booking, snuggled up against him with an ice pack pressed against your face, to the time you were sitting on a private island in the Bahamas. Biscuit was darting back and forth between you on the sand, chasing a tiny crab, making the pair of you laugh.
âTerrifying little guard dogâŠâ Austin smirked and shifted to sit next to you, sliding an arm around your waist.
âInvaluable asset, she is.â You nodded with a grin; your black eyes hidden beneath a pair of sunglasses.
âBetty spaghetti, I love you, you know that?â He kissed your temple, making you smile softly.
âYes, I do, Mr. Butler.â You grinned. âLove you, too Austin.â You pulled him in for a kiss.
âIâve been meaning to ask thoughâŠâ You smirked when he eventually pulled back to allow you both a chance to catch your breath and he raised a curious eyebrow. ââŠabout those handcuffs in your nightstandâŠâ

Whats so funny is remember when people were saying timmy and Austin hated each other. And yet timmy is using austin mov't and dialectic coach from elvis.
X
Awww!! Polly Bennett! đ„° She's awesome! She did an amaaaazing job w/Austin in "Elvis" đđŸ And she also did an awesome job with Rami in "Bohemian Rhapsody"! đ She's great! I've seen her in action.
So yea, Timmy's getting one of the best of the best with her! đ Thanks for sharing Anon. I had no idea she was working with Timmy on the Bob Dylan biopic. I knew he and Austin were sharing the same vocal coach though lol đ€
And no, Timmy and Austin don't hate each other lol. đ
They've said nothing but wonderful things about each other. đ
It's silly fans acting crazy in these fandoms that make up such nonsense. đđ The actors themselves are cool w/each other. It's the FANS that try to stir up drama for no good reason. đ€ŠđŸââïž

Jess Watches Final Results - Day 199 & 200 [x]
It's a tie with 6 of 14 votes each!
Argylle: Had very low expectations going in but I actually thought it was an ok film. Definitely had the potential to be so much better though. I think they should'nt have tried so hard to make it a cool action movie and instead leaned into the ridiculousness of it. More along the vibes of Austin Powers and Charlie's Angels (2000). And the soundtrack was weak af. There were multiple 'epic' fight montages at the end and it was a missed opportunity to get the party started.
Renegade Nell: Nell looked so good in the red coat she stole. I was Polly ready to risk it all and get tied up. And I can very much relate to the posh bandit wanting to play house with her. Also, Adrian Lester, please teach me your evil tai chi ways.

Character/Movie List
Below is movies and TV shows I like personally and are lsited as a reference. If you don't see something you're interested in, it is not that I don't like it, it is because I most likely forgot it because I love so many movies/shows tbh. Just ask, and I'll answer! And, from the Rules and Regulations page, what I had meant by "mostly" is that I can dabble outside of the acting world and into actors/actresses themselves and/or singers, popstars, etc.
{Another side-note, I am not so much into shows, but mostly movies! Although, there are some exceptions that I love beyond belief!}

Still Love You
Request: can you do an john x reader based on the song Austin by Blake Shelton
Requested by @magnificentzombiebasement
John Shelby x Reader
Word Count: 1.9k
Warnings: violence, language
A/N: I highly recommend listening to the song before or during reading. After this I only have 11 one-shot requests. YES!!! Requests for gif imagines, headcanons, and preferences are still open.
Masterlist
Y/n rolled her eyes, violently tapping her foot against the hardwood floor. It was in need of dusting, collecting dirt from the four children that ran liked animals through the house. She lifted her gaze from the floor to the man that stood across from her.
âI canât do that to Tommy,â John shook his head, hands wrapped around the chair in front of him, keeping him balanced. âNot to the family, Y/n.â
âItâs not safe, though. Not for you or me or your fucking kids!â Y/n hissed in a vain attempt to win him over. âIf you wonât do it for me please do it for them.
The plea did nothing but soften his eyes, not his heart.Â
His hands released the chair and he began to pace. John couldnât understand why Y/n would ever want him to leave his family. They meant everything to him. Come hell or high water, he would always stand by their side. Nothing shaking his answer, he gave the short answer, no.
Tears pooled in her eyes, she shifted her weight and folded her arms over her chest. âFine, be a fucking idiot, let your brother get you killed! But I wonât let that man be the death of me!âÂ
Y/n swiftly retreated from the kitchen and out of the house. There was no turning back now. The idea of leaving Birmingham, finding a nice home in the country, had been ever-present in her mind. Y/n never told John or anyone for that matter, but Birmingham had become a nightmare to her after she was held at gunpoint for so much as knowing the Shelbys. The man ran off when a group of kids accidentally kicked a ball into the alley. Since that incident, more then ever she wanted to escape the life that Tommy had set up for those around him.Â
She couldnât force the decision on John, but she thought it sounded lovely. Away from danger, they could marry and raise his children in open fields of grass, maybe along a riverbank. That was a dream that made her smile. Obviously it didnât make him do the same.Â
Knowing she could no longer live with the life the Shelbysâ had given her, she went to find greener grass.
*~~~*
John had spent weeks searching the city for his girlfriend. Heâd called and received no answer. Every time the phone rang and rang and rang. He went to her house, no one answered the door. When he broke in it was apparent that sheâd packed her bags and left. All that sheâd left was furniture covered in dust.Â
âFuck,â the man muttered, mentally kicking himself for letting her leave that day. He waltzed into the kitchen, feeling sorry for himself. Everything there was left untouched, just like he remembered.
But there was something new. A note neatly laid on the table.
He picked it up, reading it over.Â
âIâm sorry to leave like this, you donât deserve it, but I donât deserve this life you want. At least not right now. I just need some time to think. I love you, John, I do, but I must see more than the filth of Birmingham for a while. You were supposed to do it with me but your family always comes first. For that, I love you. But they are not my family and therefore I have no reason to stay.â
A sigh escaped his chapped lips. If heâd listened, if heâd been a little more open, she wouldnât have left. John didnât blame her for running, heâd thought about it more than once. His family made his life hell but he wouldnât know what to do without them.
He was happy sheâd left, though.Â
Y/n had probably found her way back home, to Plymouth. She talked about it all the time. The fresh saltwater that sprayed the cityâs banks and the fishing boats that lined the harbor. There wasnât a thing about her home that she never mentioned. It wouldnât surprise the man if she was there now, having a picnic with her family along the beach.Â
If he hadnât been an idiot maybe he could have been sitting next to her, his children playing in the water.
*~~*~~*
Taking a deep breath, Y/n picked up the phone.Â
Life had been a dream for her, the year after she left Birmingham. First, she went home to see her family. A week in Plymouth helped wash off the grim that the Peaky Blinders had left on her. From there she spent some time in London, visiting her brother and going for walks at the zoo. She then took a train up to Glasgow, where she decided to write a book. It had always been a dream of herâs but sheâd never had time until then. It was a fun activity, something she did while watching cows in the Highlands or sailing to an island off the coast of Wales.
Y/n had the time of her life in the year, but it wasnât all it was cracked up to be. Her heart hurt from the man sheâd left behind. She thought that a month, a few months, hell a fucking year, would allow her to forget about the man she used to love. But her love for the man never faded and was always at the forefront of her mind.Â
She placed the phone against her ear, the operator asked her for the number she wanted to call. Did she really want to do this? It became clear that she did when with no hesitation, she told the woman the number.
The phone rang, causing her nerves to make her eyebrow twitch. To calm herself, Y/n played with the phone cord. She instantly dropped it when a voice floated through the phone.
âYeah.â It was Finn, Johnâs youngest brother.
Y/n smiled, he had always been one of his favorite siblings. âUm, -â she bit her lip. âItâs Y/nâŠâ
The boy was clearly excited to hear from her again, telling her all about everything that happened since she caught a train home. Finn rambled about Tommyâs horses, the reopening of the Garrison, and even the car that John had bought. âYou wonât believe what weâve got now, Y/n. Youâd love it,â he confessed before telling her what she wanted to know. âJohnâs not here, though. Iâd tell him you called, but he gets angry anytime someone mentions your name. Says he never wants to talk to you again.â Her face fell, feeling defeated. âBut he saws the opposite when heâs drunk, says he loves you.â
A shaky breath parted her lips. It was a mistake to call.
âWell, it was good to talk to you Finn. I miss you, I really do. Can you do me a favor?â she asked, hoping he still liked her enough to do so.Â
âYeah, what is it?â
âCan you not mention to anyone that I called?â
The young man agreed and once they said their goodbyes, Y/n hung up the phone. Sliding to the floor, her knees came up to her chest. John still loved her. God, what a bitch she was for leaving. The grief she had put him through by walking out that door. How could she have done that to a man that had already lost so much? Tears fell from her eye, dampening the material of her skirt that rested on her knees.Â
She stayed like that for hours, dehydrating herself with each tear. What kind of love made a man love a woman no matter the distance? That question rattled her brain for the next three days before it forced her to call again.
Finn wasnât the one to pick up the phone this time, Polly was.
Her breath hitched in her throat, now she felt like she was in trouble. If Polly were standing in front of her at that moment, in her kitchen in Hunstanton, she would be scolding her. Telling Y/n that she should have let her help. But instead, she ran like a coward.Â
âHello?â the woman asked.
Y/n closed her eyes, âHi Polly,â she greeted.
Polly hummed, a smile evident on her face. âY/n,â she breathed. âWhat a lovely surprise! How have you been?â
Her voice was full of nothing but cheer, making Y/n smile. âIâve been good, how about you?â
âAbout as good as can be expected when it comes to dealing with Shelby men,â she huffed, clearly irritated with one or more of her nephews. âI assume youâre looking for John, donât know why youâd call otherwise.â
A laugh was her response before she confirmed Pollyâs suspicions.Â
The woman sighed. âHeâd not here, Iâm afraid. Johnâs been busy lately. He took the kids to a baseball game on Friday. They needed to get out of the house, it hasnât been as calm without you,â she confessed. âHe left for London this morning with Tommy and Arthur, Iâm watching his heathens until he returns tomorrow.â
Y/n nodded, not sure if she had the strength to call a third time and not have him answer. âIâm glad heâs been staying busy.â
âWhy donât you leave your number and I will make sure he calls you back?â
âIâm not sure thatâs the best idea. I donât want him to be forced to talk to me.â
Polly laughed and told the girl what a fool she was. âDarling, that boy is head over heels in love with you. He loves you, heâs never stopped loving you. So, leave me your number because he needs you, Y/n. Donât let him fool himself for thinking otherwise.â
Reluctantly, Y/n gave her her house number. Polly assured her that John would be calling her the next day.
The next day, Y/n could barely force herself out of bed. The air was chilly, her robe wrapped tightly around her as she made her way to the kitchen. She put on a pot of tea and sat at the kitchen table, a bowl of porridge and a scone sat uneaten in front of her for hours. Y/n tried to sip at her tea, but did nothing but let it get cold. Instead, she leaned against the back of her chair, staring out the window.Â
A knock at the door forced her into reality.Â
She pushed herself out of the chair with a sigh and shuffled to the door. At least the phone hadnât rung. She was sure that if it had, she would have jumped out of her skin. She wasnât ready to talk to John, but would she ever be? The door was pulled open, her face going pale at who stood behind it.
âJohn,â she breathed.â
His eyes lite up, lips turning up in a shy smile. âPolly told me you called.â
There was nothing she could say, not as she embraced him, burying her face in his chest. Oh, how she had missed his scent, the feel of his body against herâs. Before she knew it, sobs racked her body, tears wetting the manâs suit. âIâm sorry, Iâm so sorry,â she cried. âI shouldnât have left b-but I thought- I thoughtâŠâ
John rubbed her back, kissing the top of her head. âItâs okay, love. Itâs okay now. Iâm here and youâre here.â
Y/n pushed herself off him, using the back of her hand to wipe away her tears. âItâs not! I left you and you never stopped loving me.â More tears poured from her eyes. âIt was stupid, so stupid! I love you and I should have stayed.â She could barely keep herself upright, John wrapped his arms around her to keep her from collapsing to the floor.
âHey, hey, itâs okay now. Weâll figure it out. Things wonât be normal, but they wonât be hell.â

Five Young Friends From Texas Pin Their Hopes On "Bottle Rocket" - The Buffalo News, March 14, 1996
By Jane Sumner See them clear and see them plain. They will not be quite like this again. Wes Anderson, Robert Musgrave and the three Wilson brothers -- Owen, Luke and Andrew -- are whooping it up at the Stoneleigh P, playing pool and pinball like big kids, which in a way they still are. But they're also the director and cast of a quirky new movie, "Bottle Rocket," that the Hollywood Reporter called "a marvelous debut" and Esquire dubbed "the cinematic bookend to 'Say Anything.' " Heady words for a bunch of guys who a couple of years back were crashing in sleeping bags on the floor of a one-bedroom Dallas apartment. "Bottle Rocket," shot in Dallas last year for $ 5 million, opened in limited release Friday, but already it's gotten Owen C. Wilson a small role in Jim Carrey's upcoming "The Cable Guy" (he gets beaten up by the $ 20 million man) and earned the team a movie deal with Columbia Pictures -- a rare windfall for first-time filmmakers. The romantic caper comedy focuses on three misfits whose petty crime career fizzles like a cheap firecracker: Appealing Anthony (Luke Wilson) is looking for something substantial and true. Long-suffering Bob (Musgrave) yearns for family and affection from his brutal older brother, Futureman (Andrew Wilson). And tightly wound Dignan (Owen) wants a leadership role among thieves. All get what they want, but not in ways they expected.
"Bottle Rocket" is the first feature for "the boys," as producer Polly Platt calls them, although they're in their mid- to late 20s and early 30s. "I love them all," says Platt, whose long list of production credits include "War of the Roses" and "Say Anything." "What you see is what you get. I don't know if it's Texas or what, but I haven't met any others like them." The boys' story begins in Austin, the film hotbed that already has spawned guts 'n' guns filmmaker Robert Rodriguez ("From Dusk Till Dawn") and laid-back Gen-X chronicler Richard Linklater ("Dazed and Confused"). At first, Anderson and the Wilsons tried to shoot a full-length feature but ran out of cash. They ended up making a 16mm black-and-white short instead. Thanks to family friend and screenwriter L.M. Kit Carson, the droll, 13-minute demo landed at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival and in the hands of Platt, then executive vice president of James L. Brooks' Gracie Films. "Polly Platt showed me the 13-minute tape," says Brooks, the Hollywood heavyweight behind "Terms of Endearment" and "Broadcast News," among others. "I loved it so much that I was showing it like a home movie of my kids when people came in the office." Intrigued, the producers flew to Dallas and visited the boys in their one-bedroom apartment. "I knew I'd never see another case where the whole cast was living on the same floor," Brooks says. "There were sleeping bags everywhere." After that, he says, the direct Anderson would greet him not with "Hello!" or "Good morning!" but with the question, "Are you going to make this movie?" Brooks liked their honesty, innocence and freshness. He talked Columbia into backing "Bottle Rocket." "I don't know if the studio was so gung-ho," Owen Wilson says. "It wasn't something they would normally embrace. Jim had just got done with a big, complicated movie, "I'll Do Anything," and he liked the idea of doing something simple and self-contained." "Bottle Rocket" wasn't the studio's first cheapie venture, Brooks says. "There was 'To Die For,' and 'Boyz N the Hood' had a moderate budget. The important thing is that having done it so far, they're glad they did." But putting together a short film with friends wasn't the same as making a multimillion-dollar feature for a studio with a high-energy executive producer like Brooks. "I think it was dreams meet reality equal rough times," Brooks says. "But everybody hung in there, working in their own distinctive way. Once you start to make it, everything is about just trying to get what you went after." Despite the friction when Texas met Tinseltown, Anderson says he pretty much made the movie he went after. "There would be weeks when I would just hate everybody and think people were evil," he says. "Then it would wear off and I'd think, 'Well, Jim was right about this thing.' "He never tried to force us to make it into something that it wasn't. It's pretty clear right from the start that they never made me cast anybody but our own guys. They let me hire a full crew that I wanted. They let us do our thing, but at the time it doesn't feel like that." Only two "names" appear in the film -- Hollywood bad boy James Caan ("Misery") as the boys' mentor in crime and Mexican actress Lumi Cavazos ("Like Water for Chocolate") as the Spanish-speaking love interest, Inez. "The only suggestion we got from the studio for the part of Inez was Cameron Diaz," Jim Carrey's co-star in "The Mask," Anderson says. "We saw the kind of actresses that they brought in. Then there's this girl who's beautiful but looks like a real person. When she was reading the part, everybody leaned forward because suddenly there was this intelligence and sense of humor." Until his scenes with Cavazos, Luke says, he hadn't felt any pressure. "All of a sudden I started to hear murmurings about 'Luke's got to deliver the romance, Luke's got to deliver the romance.' Owen sat down with me and talked about true romance, which he'd never done, and Polly sat down with me and said, 'Honey, you really have to believe you love her and deliver the
romance.' I'd heard that from ex-girlfriends maybe, but never from the heads of a studio." In the end, Luke, whose heartthrob sensitivity recalls Montgomery Clift's, delivers the romance, and Caan delivers the "heavy" business. "He was really scary," says Anderson. "I talked to him on the telephone. We were already shooting when we cast him, so I didn't get to meet him." Then came the night the director heard a knock at 12:30 a.m. "I switched on a little reading light and opened the door and Jimmy Caan's out there. He's wide awake. He said, 'I was thinking about the scene where I do a karate move on Andrew.' So he pulled me in front of the mirror in this dimly lit hotel room, put me in this hold and starts throwing me down on the floor very hard and pulling me back up. We're doing it again and again. All I could think of was how weird it was. But it was also kind of nice because it seemed like we were really working in the Now." Then came a round of test screenings, which studios traditionally use to gauge audience reaction and make suggested changes. "We had a hard time," Platt says. "We had terrible previews. But those people who filled out reaction forms are idiots. . . . Once in a while, someone wrote that it was one of the most original movies they'd seen. I just hope that discerning people who see a lot of movies will see that it's a gem." Another blow came last month, when Sundance, the indie-oriented fest where their short made waves, rejected the full-length, studio-made version for this year's festival. But with "Rocket's" quirky glare hitting screens in 13 cities across the country, the future looks bright. Owen Wilson and Anderson say they'd like to do a Western and a movie about a boys school. But right now, the pair is hunkered down writing a romantic comedy. The idea is to keep the gang together. As filmmakers, Brooks says, the Texans are unique. "Those guys are so close. It's staggering that three are brothers. . . . Their rhythms are different from everybody else, and the way they care for each other is different. All that stuff in the film about loyalty, honor and friendship is really the way they are."

Donât know if youâve heard but Netflix is doing pretty well with their local language releases. Now, with its list of new releases for September 2021, Netflix is leading with one of its biggest international hits.
Season 5 of the worldwide smash Money Heist is set to premiere its first half on Sept. 3. This Spanish series (called La Casa de Papel in its native tongue) about a group of geographically-named thieves found new life on Netflix to become a global phenomenon. Other international series of note this month include Sex Education and Jaguar.
Netflixâs roster of originals in September 2021 is pretty packed even beyond that. The final season of Lucifer premieres on Sept. 10. That will be followed by He-Man and the Masters of the Universe on Sept. 16 (not to be confused with Masters of the Universe: Revelation) and Mike Flanaganâs next horror series, Midnight Mass, on Sept. 24.
There are some heavy-hitting Netflix originals movies to note as well. The Michael Keaton drama Worth arrives on Sept. 3. Mary Elizabeth Winsteadâs turn as a Crank-style action star, Kate, follows that on Sept. 10. Melissa McCarthy and Chris OâDowd close out the month with their drama The Starling on Sept. 24.
Library titles are becoming a bit more rare on Netflix nowadays with a glut of other streaming services to compete with. Still. Sept. 1 sees the arrival of some big ones like Blade Runner, Do the Right Thing, and School of Rock.

Another opinionated jerk makes a top ten movies of 2016 list!
Hey everybody and welcome back to my often neglected blog. Itâs been even more neglected this year due to me finally figuring out how to use Instagram. This has been a really, really, really good year for movies. Donât let the haters bring you down, there was a lot of good stuff this year. For the first time in a long time my list isnât heavily populated with independent genre work (although I always argue all film is genre).Â
My one cravat as always is that I include festival films that might not have opened wide. This year itâs only one film I think.
Anyways without further adieu:
TOP TEN FILMS OF 2016
1. CHRISTINE
written by Craig Shilowich; directed by Antonio Campos; staring Rebecca Hall, Michael C. Hall, Tracy Letts
This film stuck with me long after watching it. Even now I canât really get it out of my head. Not to be confused with Kate Plays Christine which also examines the story of television journalist Christine Chubbuck who famously, or rather infamously, committed suicide live on air in 1974. This film is not an entirely joyless watch, and itâs care and craft with the tragic story is stunning.
Rebecca Hall (who Iâd somehow never seen in anything before) gives a performance that is so nuanced that you completely understand the depression that hangs over her, and makes her suicide less of shocking event and more of a soft sad gradual ending.Â
2. NEON DEMON
written by Mary Laws, Polly Stenham, Nicholas Winding Refn; directed by Nicholas Winding Refn; staring Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Bella Heathcote
Haters are gonna hate. Thatâs the best way to describe the critical reaction to this movie. I donât want all my thoughts to be about the reaction the film had at Cannes and afterwards but it definitely defined the conversation around this film.Â
Hopefully with time an audience will find the film and appreciate it for what it is: pure style and attitude. Itâs a punk rock middle finger to the male gaze.Â
3. COLOSSAL
written & directed by Nacho Vigalondo; staring Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikius, Tim Blake Nelson, Dan Stevens, Austin Stowell
The single most original film Iâve seen this year. Itâs a film about addiction and the effect it has on giant monsters destroying South Korea. Iâm not saying anything else because that would ruin the sheer joy of watching this film.
4. HELL OR HIGH WATER
written by Taylor Sheridan; directed by David MacKenzie; staring Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges, Gil Birmingham
Truly the first great modern-time western since Vanishing Point in the 70s. Iâd argue itâs even a better western than No Country For Old Men. One of probably the best portraits of the current American financial landscape, it tells the tale of two brothers (Pine & Foster) who take to robbing banks in order to pay of the mortgage on their late motherâs farmland, while being pursued by two Texas Ranges (Bridges & Birmingham).Â
The scene that sums up terrible situation that the brothers find themselves in is when they attempt to take a bank only to find that it has been shut down due to lack of business.Â
It could be read as a metaphor for the current financial wasteland that millennials (Pine & Foster) have been born into and the omnipresent crush of the baby boomers and generation x (Bridges & Birmingham) that is damaging the economy beyond repair. And it has shootouts and car chases!
5. LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP
adapted & directed by Whit Stillman; staring Kate Beckinsale, Chloe Sevigny, Morfydd Clark, Xavier Samuel, Stephen Fry
Whit Stillman always took great inspiration from Jane Austenâs work. Much of his loose comedy of manners trilogy (Metropolitan, Barcelona, Last Days of Disco) would fit right alongside Pride and Prejudice or Emma and would be far more accessible to modern audiences.
This is probably the best (in my opinion only) adaptation of Austenâs work. Itâs (as far as I know) the only adaptation of her short novel âLady Susan.â Beckinsale plays the titular Lady Susan who flirts, gossips, backstabs, and snarks her way through Britain attempting to secure financial security for herself  (and possibly her daughter if by accident).Â
Donât let the period pedigree fool you: this is a hilarious comedy first and foremost. It succeeds where nearly all other Austen adaptations fail because Stillman embraces the terrible way the characters treat each other and minimizes the too-precious romance that sinks most other adaptations of her work.Â
6. BLAIR WITCH
written by Simon Barrett; directed by Adam Wingard; staring James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Corbin Reid, Wes Robinson, Valorie Curry
At some point it became trendy to crap on any film that was a long late sequel. Especially a sequel to a cultural juggernaut like The Blair Witch Project. A lot of people wrote this film off as a warmed over retread of the original. To be honest Iâm sure most of those people didnât actually see the movie. Or if they did they went in with mind made up and refused to admit that this movie is pretty damned good. And very damned scary.
I caught it at Midnight Madness at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. Only the hardest of the hardcore go to those screenings and the place was terrified.Â
The team behind the ludicrously awesome films âYouâre Nextâ and âThe Guestâ (Barrett & Wingard) made a balls-to-the-wall horror show with their Blair Witch. The audience will feel totally beaten up by the end of this movie and leave questing their safety in society.
7. THE NICE GUYS
written by Anthony Bagarozzi & Shane Black; directed by Shane Black; staring Ryan Gosling, Russel Crowe, Angourie Rice
Itâs Shane Black doing a gumshoe hardboiled detective story set in grimy 1970s Los Angeles set during Christmas. If I need to say more: you guys are jerks.
8. THE WITCH
written & directed by Robert Eggers; staring Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Ellie Grainger, Lucas Dawson
The genius of this movie is that there are no real twists in it; yet itâs wholly (holy?) satisfying. A family of devout Christians are exiled and isolated, and are driven to distrustful paranoia when a coven of witches and the most evilest goat ever to grace the screen target them. A satanic bunny kills a dog and a woman mistakes a crow for her infant son. Itâs got everything!
Haunting, horrifying, and beautiful this film is so captivating that it was equally praised by theologians and satanists. Itâs mystifying and mysterious in how good of a film it is.
9. LA LA LAND
written & directed by Damien Chazelle; staring Ryga Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend
Haters are gonna hate, but this movie is simply great.Â
A musical that finally breaks free of the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice/jukebox musical crappola that weâve had to deal with since the 70s. You donât walk away remembering any songs, because the film never comes to a stop to say âhereâs a song!â
The music actually is integral to the emotion and character of the story. And itâs quite good too. And maybe now I kinda like jazz?
10. HUSH
written by Kate Siegel & Mike Flanagan; directed by Mike Flanagan; staring Kate Siegel, John Gallagher Jr., Samantha Sloyan, Michael Trucco
Make no bones about it: this is a mean movie. Itâs got one of the most clever concepts Iâve ever seen: how would a deaf mute woman defend herself against a home invader?
Itâs gripping and tense and you just want the lead character of Maddie (Kate Siegel) to survive and defeat her assailant (John Gallagher Jr.). The movie is essentially just the two of them trying to outsmart one another while both deal with Maddieâs handicap.
Itâs just scary enough while never crossing over into the hardcore horror territory the would alienate mainstream audiences.
-------------------- Â Â Â ------------------------ Â Â Â Â -------------------------
So, thatâs it. Sorry itâs a little late. I still haven't seen everything I wanted to see that came out last year. And I should have included Everybody Wants Some!! somewhere but whatever.
Stay scared.
