Karaoke Chance Pt. 3

You and Austin had made plans to meet up the next day so he could show you around. A few more songs had been sung, some more drinks and a few kisses were shared before parting ways. When you got back to the airbnb, Kate and Bri wanted to stay out until bar close, so you had the place to yourself.

It didn’t take long to change and lay down in bed. Going over the night you had just had, you couldn’t get rid of the smile on your face. You heard your phone ding and glancing at the screen saw it was from Austin. Earlier, you had exchanged numbers when finalizing plans for tomorrow.

-I hope you sleep sweet. Glad I got to meet you. See you tomorrow, text me when you're ready and I’ll pick you up. Wear a suit underneath comfortable clothing. ~A

He was so sweet! The smile on your face just grew. -Good night and sweet dreams Austin. See you in the morning.

With that, you set your phone on the nightstand and plugged it in to charge. Within minutes you were fast asleep, not even hearing your friends get back.

When you woke up, you got a pot of coffee started and made breakfast. You sat in the backyard while eating and drinking your coffee. Today was going to be fun. And Austin would just be the cherry on top. After taking a shower, you got dressed in a pair of white short shorts, a loose and flowy peach colored top and a blue and white bikini underneath. Making sure you had everything you could/would need you texted Austin. -Good Morning, I am ready to go. You added the address of the rental at the end of the text.

It was only moments before he responded he would be there in fifteen minutes. While you waited for him, you made Kate and Bri cups of coffee as they ambled out of their rooms, groaning about it being too bright outside. Laughing at their misfortune, you slipped on some comfortable sandals that were good to walk around in. When your phone buzzed with Austin saying he was there, you grabbed your bag and headed out the front door. You slid on your aviator sunglasses and walked over to Austin who was leaning against the front of his vehicle.

“You look beautiful.” His deep timber warmed your insides pleasantly. He was looking really good in a pair of shorts and an old band shirt. He smiled and gave you a hug before guiding you around and opening the passenger door for you. Once inside, he shut it and then moved around and climbed in himself. “Ready for a fun day?”

When you gave a nod with a smile, Austin backed out of the driveway and started to drive. You didn’t know what all he had planned for the day but anything would be fun especially with this handsome man. You watched out the window at all that was passing by, everything was so tropical compared to New York. “So I was thinking we could go for a walk up in the hills if you wanted. And then depending on what time it is, maybe grab some lunch and then hit the beach. How does that sound?” “That sounds really relaxing and fun at the same time.” You said with a laugh, making Austin smile and chuckle softly. “We should be up in the hills in about ten minutes.” He said while guiding the vehicle out of the busy part of LA. He had the radio on softly for some background noise. “How did your two friends fare after last night? I saw they stayed when we parted last night.” “Oh my god, it was great! They are so hung over. Serves them right for staying out drinking as much as they did. Though they were not really that awake just yet when you picked me up.” “Yeah, I think one of my buddies is in that same boat. He tends to send random texts when he gets plastered. And I woke up to a bunch of texts rambling about some cat he thought was following him home.” You both laughed at that.

The next few minutes you spend idly chatting before you hear a song come on the radio and give a happy eep. You reach over and turn the volume up. ‘City Grown Willow’ By Radio Company

“I love this song! I can’t believe it’s on the radio and not just Spotify now.” You say before starting to sing to it. Your eyes slid shut and a smile filled your face. Austin glanced over as often as he could while driving. Though when he pulled into the parking lot for the hiking/walking trails he just sat and watched you. The joy on your face was beautiful. You weren’t singing loudly, a nice soft tone and he thought it was wonderful. He would have to add this song to his playlists. As the song came to an end, you opened your eyes and when you saw Austin watching you, a blush started to form. “That was really good. I’ll have to check this band out. They have a great sound.” He said, brushing a strand of hair out of your face. Butterflies filled your stomach and you nodded slightly. “They are great, I think they have two albums out right now.” With that, Austin turns the vehicle off and climbs out, moving around to open your door for you, helping you out. Once he locked it, he turned and rested his hand on your lower back to guide you to one of the trail heads. It was a nice peaceful quiet between the two of you for the first five or ten minutes while walking, just listening to nature. As you moved further along the path, the view just got better. Looking down over the valley was breathtaking. You took a few pictures on your phone to use as a background.

“This is amazing.” You say as you look at Austin with a smile. “Thanks for showing this to me.” “Glad you like it. I come up here when I need to get away.” You had both stopped to look, and when he said that you gave a small nod. That is something you would do for sure. You leaned your head on his shoulder lightly and took a deep breath. He lifted his arm up and around your shoulders within moments. This felt so natural and like the two of you fit. By the time you had made it back to his vehicle, you had your arm around his waist, and his was still around your shoulders. As you got in, your stomach growled. “We will stop and get something on the way to the beach. I’m hungry as well.” Austin said with a chuckle. “There is a great deli that I like and is more of a local known stop.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After getting sandwiches and parking at the beach, Austin grabbed a couple towels out of the back seat and led you out onto the sand. You were quick to take your sandals off and buried your toes in the sand before catching up to Austin. Once a spot was picked out, both of you sat down on the towels and ate your sandwiches. You laid back and closed your eyes, happy and comfortable. The sound of the waves and birds was so calming. You could be on the beach daily, it was something you had always loved. You popped your eyes open when you felt a soft poke to the side of your hip and turned to see Austin laying on his side on his towel. The garbage from the sandwiches was gone. “When did you throw the wrappers away?” You asked, leaning up on your elbows and glancing around. “You dozed off, so I let you sleep for a little while.” “Oh my god, I didn’t mean to fall asleep! Please tell me it wasn’t that long.” “Maybe twenty minutes.” He said with a smile. “You looked comfortable and beautiful.” You shook your head with a soft laugh. “Do you want to go paddleboarding? They have a rental shop just over there.” He nodded towards a surf shop. “I think paddleboarding would be fun.” You stood when Austin did and followed him over, noticing there were lockers to rent as well. When you tried to pay for your half of the rental, Austin covered your hands with the one he wasn’t holding a card out to pay with. “Then I’ll at least get the locker then.” You said, moving over and picking one out before putting your bag into it along with your shirt. Once Austin stepped over to you, he slipped his shirt off and put that, his wallet, phone and car keys in with your bag, you closed it, put change in and took the key out. You slipped it over your ankle before he led the way to the two paddleboards you would be using for an hour. Carrying them to the shore, it didn’t take long before you were both out on the water. The breeze was nice, making it not too hot. The hour flew by and before you knew it, you had to head back to return the boards. When you feel water hit your lower leg, you look over and see Austin fighting a smirk while avoiding looking at you. With a quick flick, you splashed him with a small bit of water in return. In moments you were both splashing the other. Austin stepped just a bit too close to the edge of his board and he fell backwards into the water, you laughing with your head thrown back. The moment he didn’t pop back up you opened your eyes and looked over to his board. “Austin?” All of a sudden your board was tilting back and you toppled into the ocean yourself with a yelp.

When you popped back up, you heard Austin laughing. Wiping your eyes, you see him standing in the water, holding both boards in place. “Ohhh you are evil sir.” You said with a laugh.
