This is more head cannon than fic/drabble and was about to expire in my Ao3 drafts so might as well have a home here on tumblr.

Austin wasn't really surprised to hear that Max had been blackballed from every gym in the country.

Austin had warned him - he'd fuckin' warned him - that there would be consequences. He'd told Max that he couldn't play games with Payson - that if he wasn't serious about Payson that it would only end badly. And Max had either disregarded every one of his warnings or thought that the consequences and bad endings he was worried about were for Payson.

I mean, sure Payson was pretty upset about things and letting them get to her gymnastics in a very un-Payson way. But she'd be over it eventually. Max Spencer was no great loss.

Max, on the other hand, had completely fucked himself.

And Austin had told him, dammit? He'd told him not to make Payson cry.

And what did he do? He made Payson cry.

Twice.

And maybe it was the fact that he'd gotten away with it the first time that made Max think the consequences didn't apply to him. Or maybe Max was too stupid to realise his own dumb luck.

"It doesn't even make sense," Max complained. "How can every gym in the country be full?"

If Max didn't get it then Austin wasn't going to explain it to him.

Gymnastics was a small world, especially Men's gymnastics. And if Max was stupid enough to piss off Sasha Belov - twice - then maybe he deserved a little of what was coming to him.
