It was a surprise for Gilbert to discover his profound feelings towards Devyn, his precious friend, the right hand of the king. And it was a forbidden feeling too. He never dared tell anyone about it because he knew what they were going to say.

"You should never touch a king's possession lest you wanna be cursed."

But there was a time when Gilbert couldn't hold it in because Devyn was so pretty, laughing wholeheartedly at something like there wasn't any responsibility on her shoulders or paperwork she had to tend to. She was just her own woman, owning the moment and enjoying life in a few seconds.

And because of that admiration, he couldn't help but tell her, "I envy anyone who has the privilege to be loved by you."

Everything went south as she gave him a confused look, but there was something in her eyes that indicated she knew what he meant but simply wanted a confirmation.

"I have romantic feelings for you, Devyn Kang."

And that was it. He left her full of questions and anxiety, thoughts in her head as to how it all happened and how Gilbert endured it all this time. But because of his pride, he messed with her memories, traveling in the dream world to erase her memory of him confessing so she wouldn't know.

That was then because, above all things, there was Karlheinz, and Karlheinz wanted Devyn all to himself. So he didn't make a move. He enjoyed the undying feeling of hurting himself in this unrequited feeling until he couldn't any longer, especially when she gave him the same look of desperation.

I will fight for this. I will give up everything just for this love.

As he lay on the cold marble stone floor, all bruised and battered from all the damage Karlheinz inflicted on him. He only grinned, spitting out blood on his face, not caring if this person used to be his only friend in the demon world. They love the same woman, but given how Devyn was willing to lay down her life on the line for their affair, he supposed death right now is sweet.

"Gilbert, please," Karlheinz pointed his sword at his chest, dangerously threatening him, "let us end this pointless war. Give up Devyn and we can settle this matter."

Gilbert huffed with pride. "Pointless? You think my love for Devyn is nothing but a mere farce?" Everything he felt was real, raw emotions running down his veins. There is no way this affair was ridiculous.

"Devyn is mine to begin with," Karlheinz clarified, eyes filled with bloodlust because no one takes anything from him.

NO ONE.

"You really think that?" Gilbert knew there was no sense in talking this out with Karlheinz. After all, he mercilessly killed Aurora because of his desire to possess Devyn.

There was a moment of silence as Karlheinz lightly stabbed the skin on his chest, silently telling him to end this war and he'll withdraw the blade and pretend this was all for naught. However, Gilbert held the sword closer and said:

"My heart will never waver, Karlheinz, and you can't take that away from me even if I die."

And the next thing, Karlheinz stabbed him in the chest, witnessing how his old friend died with a triumphant smile. He was reeling from the curse all over again, with Devyn by his side, yet he was sleeping beside a stranger.

The mere thought of Devyn betraying him and eloping with someone else makes him sick. But what makes him feel disgusted is this whole act.

This is unbecoming of you, Karlheinz. Are you willing to risk Eden just for a woman who doesn't love you?

And for once, he has never felt alive.

Somewhere far away from the demon world is a vast ocean that knows no end. Devyn walked towards the ocean, the water reaching her waist as the wind blows away her tears. She was distraught, broken beyond repair, because she was remembering Gilbert and his last words.

"I will die today, and I just hope we can still see each other after that."

Devyn wanted to beat the shit out of him. She wanted Gilbert to use his full power, obliterate Karlheinz, and live happily with her somewhere far away. But then, she knew that he would still die even if Gilbert did what she wanted. After all, dreams are easily ruined by the cruel reality of their fate.

Now, Devyn was nearing her end, the water already reaching her neck. She was sobbing yet smiling at the fact that she'll die in this cold ocean but will meet the warm arms of her beloved.

Gilbert, please wait for me.

And then the water took her peace.

Devyn and Saeclus' Children

I am sooo excited for this one, you don't even know. Me and @secretarykang have talked about this a few times and I can't help but share these headcanons with you

They have three children. Two sons and one daughter.

Originally, they wanted to have two, but Devyn's second pregnancy turned out to be twins.

Their first son, Silas, was born two years before the twins. He has Devyn's soft blonde hair, and otherwise, looks exactly like Saeclus. Sharp eyes and delicate features.

His name was chosen by Saeclus, and it's the shorter form of the name Silvanus, who is the "Roman god of the forests". Though it could also be the Greek version of the name Saul, meaning "asked for" or "prayed for".

Silas also acts like Saeclus, and he was the calmest and happiest baby. So well-behaved and quiet and lively that Devyn and Saeclus were convinced parenting is always that easy.

And then along came the twins, a daughter and a son, to change that whole thought process.

Funnily enough, neither Devyn nor Saeclus had any idea that she was pregnant with twins, so it came as quite the surprise in the delivery stage. Though, neither of them minded much.

The daughter is named Aurora and the son Dante. They both have Saeclus' hair color, Aurora looks the most like Devyn out of all the siblings, while Dante is a perfect mix of Saeclus and Devyn's features.

Aurora means "the dawn" in Latin and was the "Roman goddess of the morning". And Dante is the shortened form of Italian Durante which means "enduring".

Aurora and Dante are absolute chaos children, completely unlike the calm and non-troublesome Silas, and they raise all hell for Devyn and Saeclus even as toddlers.

As stated before, the three kids have distinctly different personalities.

Silas is the most like their father. He's calm, compassionate, and artistic. He is trained in combat and educated in many subjects.

As the eldest son of the joint Sanguine and Kang families, he has a lot of expectations to meet - not just from his parents but also from the rest of his peers - and this has made him the most hardworking and responsible of three children.

However, Devyn and Saeclus do not repeat the Sanguine family's mistake of suffocating Silas with his responsibilities, work and education. Silas is allowed to freely explore his hobbies, and they both encourage his love for art and literature.

Now, Aurora is most like Devyn in both looks and personality. She's confident, strong-willed and academic.

She loves to explore the world of science aside from her usual studies. And who better to teach her than Karlheinz, Devyn's best friend. She's super intelligent and has neverending curiosity. While she is a constant reminder to Karl that he could never have Devyn, he can't help but love her for how much she acts like the woman he loves.

Saeclus is definitely a lot less disciplinary with Aurora, because he's never had a daughter before and has no experience on how to deal with them. He's had some experience with sons with Carla and Shin and some other children before. So most of the disciplining for Aurora is left to Devyn.

And in the end, we have Dante. The perfect blend between Devyn and Saeclus. Dante is charming, well-spoken and easy-going.

He's probably very similar to what young Dong Hwa Kang and Nocsis Sanguine were like. Dante is super attractive and he's also polite and playful, inheriting Saeclus' effortless air of regality and mystique, and Devyn's charisma and skill with words. He'll probably keep playing around until he really falls in love with someone.

Saeclus and Devyn probably have to scold and chide Dante a lot for some of his behavior, but they love him just as much as Aurora and Silas. He also probably reminds his grandfather the most of himself when he was younger.

Silas has to babysit Aurora and Dante all the time, so he's quite fed up with these two troublemakers. That being said, Silas doesn't tolerate it if someone outside of family tries to tell Aurora or Dante off.

Aurora and Dante are absolute partners in crime, and one of their biggest missions in life is getting a rise out of their older brother at least once a week. They would have tried on their father, only he gave them the most intense look of silent disapproval and they just guiltily walked away.

I love this little family, expect to hear more from them soon ❤️

i’m glad you like it! it never crossed my mind to make it into a serious au, here have some hcs i’ve came up with:

devyn and karl are pretty much childhood friends; their families have been friends for decades, like several generations in the past yk

old money babies, their fathers own big businesses together

karl is one year older than devyn (and aurora)

devyn meets aurora while in high school, they don’t attend the same one tho ( i mean devyn attends this stuffy and old private school while aurora a public one, but the schools are in the same area so it made it possible for them to meet)

aurora isn’t a old money babe, more like middle class but is one smart girl

the girls meet at a café, devyn pays for her coffee bc aurora is a few dollars? pounds? (whatever currency you want) short and in desperate need for coffee

now aurora is stubborn and i think might reject the offer but also the need for caffeine is a bit too big so she gives in but promises to pay her back with another coffee so yk it’s a date ;)

they meet the next day after school at the same café and aurora insists on paying for her coffee, spend a couple hours there just to talk and know each other

this becomes some sort of routine, the café becomes their meeting place

a friendship is blooming for sure

devyn just finds her so interesting and refreshing from everyone else around her

slowly starts to hang out more with her and this rises some questions to karl

he asks her who she’s spending time with, devyn tells him about her dear new friend aurora and takes him to finally meet her

goes wrong i’d say? not at the actual meeting bc they wouldn’t cause a scene in front of devyn but both of them make sure to tell devyn their opinion afterwards

aurora considers karl a pompous ass, rude high class son of a bitch that would probably die if he’d be left one minute in the “real world” (thing she still wonders about devyn since she has the same bg and lifestyle as karl)

karl considers aurora as something not worthy of spending time with devyn, not only because of her bg but because of her “mannerism”, “it’s almost insulting for you to be seen with someone like her, love”

poor devyn just tries to make her friends like each other; do they? no, but are decent with one another if they somehow have to spend time together with devyn

the peak in of their friendship is when karl goes to college so devyn is pretty much left with aurora and they spent even more time together

the love triangle is here as well i suppose

if only we could freeze time

By the time Devyn woke up it was past noon. The window of her bedroom was still open from last night, letting the sound and the freshness of the rain come into the room.

Aurora was still sound asleep under the heavy blanket, her hair was loose across the pillow. She seemed like a heavy sleeper and it always made the blonde wonder how such thing was possible, Devyn liked to think it was because her Aurora was comfortable enough around her to just enjoy a good night sleep, because there’s no way the general wouldn’t be alert in her sleep in another environment.

But it was a lovely view.

A soft knock on the door was heard, followed by Gustaf’s whine — clearly upset that he couldn’t join them last night.

Devyn climbed out of the bed as slowly and quietly possible, not wanting to disturb her friend’s sleep and went to open the door. As she took the tray with food and tea from the maid, Gustaf invited himself in, proceeding to jump in the bed and wake up Aurora.

“Gustaf…” the blonde sighed, looking for a place to set the tray down.

“I’m telling you, he was offended that I compared him with him-who-must-not-be-named-anymore-because-it-will-destroy-this-holiday” said Aurora, finally opening her eyes, gaining a giggle from Devyn.

“Good morning to you too.”

Devyn climbed back to bed, joining the two and bringing the tray between her and Aurora.

“I don’t think he likes me”

“He doesn’t like any new people, but he will warm up to you.”

Aurora sat up, took the tea cup handed by devyn and looked back at Gustaf, “If It helps, you’re much more handsome than he is”

“Enough talking about him-who-must-not-be-named-here,” said Devyn, trying to maintain a serious tone, “He is forbidden to come here, so let’s enjoy ourselves and forget about him”

Aurora started laughing and launched herself at Devyn, giving her a hug and multiple kisses on the face, “Then this place must be paradise!”

“Our very own Eden” the blonde smiled and gave her a kiss on the crown of her head.

Both of them hoped that this could last forever. Just sitting in Devyn’s room, listening to the rain and be happy.

ohh where do i even start..

aurora is such a breath of fresh air for devyn, like everytime they are together everything seems so calm and free?? she doesn’t need to be so stiff around her, it’s really refreshing

she loves to listen to aurora telling her about her battles. it reminds her about how her father used to do that when she was little, but now since she works for karl, she already knows about said battles from the reports she gets so her father stopped this “tradition” of their?? anyway, devyn could listen to her talk for hours

aurora’s hugs. exceptional. amazing. she could melt in her arms, if aurora wants to keep devyn more all she has to do is cuddle her and devyn won’t leave for a long time

her jokes, especially when she roasts karl. devyn loves karl, that’s without a doubt, but will laugh her ass off at any jokes aurora makes about karlheinz

her drive and the way she won’t take anyone’s bullshit. literally always there to cheer for her when she literally destroys someone (physically, verbally it doesn’t matter how)

loves all the trips, adventures or whatever you wanna call it, that aurora takes her to

aurora’s hair (almost envies karl’s hair) she loves to play with it, to braid it especially, it’s always so soft and devyn is aware that aurora doesn’t have a complicated hair routine like karl’s so she’s always in awe at how beautiful aurora’s hair is.

there might be more but my brain can’t think anymore about anything, it’s safe to say that devyn likes everything about aurora
