What is Aura Photography? 📾
Aura photography is a fascinating technique that captures the electromagnetic energy field surrounding every individual. This energy field, often referred to as the "aura," is said to reflect one’s emotional, mental, and spiritual state. Using a specialized camera and software, we can visualize this energy in vibrant colors, creating stunning images that convey not just the physical appearance but also the energetic essence of each participant.
How It Works
Our process is simple yet captivating:
Set Up: We bring our mobile studio directly to your event, whether it’s a wedding, corporate gathering, or festival.
Capture: Participants place their hands on a sensor that reads their energy field, and within moments, a beautiful aura photograph is generated.
Print and Share: Each photo is printed on high-quality paper, and digital copies can be shared online, allowing guests to take home a piece of their aura.
Why Choose The Aura Journey? ✹
1. Unique Experience
Unlike traditional photography, aura photography offers a unique experience that guests won’t soon forget. They leave with more than just a photo; they take home a tangible piece of their energetic self, sparking conversation and connection.

Artist Model Research
Alexander Neumann
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Born and raised in Peru, Alexander Neumann had an artistic influence from his homeland and father whom was a painter and art collector, leaving a profound effect on his career as the influences became so natural to Nuewmann’s themes of colour and playful style that establishes the photographer today. Studying and developing the mixture of art, philosophy and communications as a background, he discovered his love for photography.
Initially focusing on documentary and fine art photography, he sought creative challenges, thus moving to New York. Working with great influences along the way, his aesthetics and inspirations shifted closer to fashion and the vibrancy and elegance that his relaxed style and aura from his pieces create is a moulded reflection of his appreciation for all forms of art and honest authenticity.

Chris Jordan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With a single image of compressed garbage pinned up on the wall of his studio, feeling such guilt and drive for a better tomorrow, Chris Jordan does his part of advocating a change, specifically in America’s prominent mass consumption of everything.
Exposing shocking sights of mass consumption, the environmental photographer employs the aspects of near and far, hoping to “raise some questions about roles and responsibilities we each play as individuals in a collective that is increasingly enormous, incomprehensible and overwhelming.”
In one way or another, Jordan believes and reminds us through his eco-art and photo manipulation, that everyone is an activist in their own ways and feels that in order to change the world, radical change must happen, knowing that an artist can bring personal and emotional aspects to making an impact.
Each image he captures, tells of a statistical story that not only captivates viewers, but also holds shocking information that relates back to our treatment to the planet we’re living in.
I was quite moved and inspired by the words, “as an American consumer myself, I am in no position to finger wag; but I do know that when we reflect on a difficult question in the absence of an answer, our attention can turn inward, and in that space may exist the possibility of some evolution of thought or action. So my hope is that these photographs can serve as portals to a kind of cultural self-inquiry. It may not be the most comfortable terrain, but I have heard it said that in risking self-awareness, at least we know that we are awake.” Which makes me think about my image manipulations and how I also want to provoke audiences to see and do.
Dario Catellani
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A self-taught photographer from Italy, Dario Catellani utilises his background in architecture and visual arts to dissect contemporary deliveries to images, which defines the unique visions of fashion photography.
Expanding his portfolio to include fine art photography, portraiture and documentary photography, Catellani’s work typically features people in extraordinary scenes as his photographs depicts a foundational use of light and composition with his use of natural light that uses a dream-like aura in his images.
Juco
A lighting workshop at the San Francisco Art Institute is where Julia Galdo and Cody Cloud's Los Angeles-based company, JUCO, got its start. With their daring, colourful, character-driven work, they are now working hard to establish a reputation for themselves in the commercial and editorial worlds.
The two had a peculiar path to photography. While Cloud was introduced by a hobbyist family friend who would take him on picture trips on the weekends when he was in his late teens, Galdo was trained as a marine biologist and discovered she had a flair for the medium by accident after taking a few lessons for pleasure. He assisted fashion photographers after graduating, and she went on to work in advertising. Both of their experiences shaped the way they do business. Within the squad, "we each have our own strengths and weaknesses," they claim. "My background as an art director has taught me how to pitch and tell stories, whereas Cody is extremely technical and knows how to move around a set."
Their dynamic, character-driven approach is constantly turned up to the extreme and unmistakably influenced by Guy Bourdin's scorching colours, Tim Walker's surrealism edge, and a mash-up of individual inspirations from their background. We have a wide range of interests, including anything from roller rinks to cowboys to South Central [LA] airbrush culture to thrift shops. I learned a lot about the Latin ghetto-fabulous style growing up in South Beach. These exposures taken as a whole are crucial to our job. These ideas helped design eye-catching editorials for The New Yorker, Time, and Vogue that featured everyone from Tyler the Creator to Kim Kardashian.

BrassaĂŻ, the Outsider Who Photographed Paris after Dark
Tumblr media
Brassaï, Kiki de Montparnasse and her Friends, ThérÚse Treize and Lily , ca. 1932. © Estate Brassaï Succession, Paris. Courtesy of the Estate Brassaï Succession, Paris.
In one of Brassaï’s most famous photographs, a man and a woman canoodle in the corner of a Parisian coffee house in the early 1930s, smoke curling from a lit cigarette between the woman’s fingers. Mirrors on either side of the couple’s well-coiffed heads reflect their loving looks and blur the surrounding restaurant. His jacket and her thick sweater suggest winter weather, from which this single, cozy booth offers refuge. Titled Couple d’amoureux dans un petit cafĂ©, quartier Italie (Loving couple in a small cafe, Italy district), the photograph exudes lust and old-world glamour, exemplifying just what made the photographer’s vision so enduring; more than eight decades after its creation, the image remains as evocative and seductive as ever.
While Brassaï (1899–1984) was a veritable polymath—he wrote novels, sculpted, and painted throughout his career—his pictures of Paris at night remain his career-defining masterworks. Before World War II struck the city, he captured foggy avenues with bare trees, the gate to the Luxembourg Gardens, bridges, and street façades. He snapped pictures of the meat porters and kissing couples of the streets, and the giddy inhabitants of restaurants and lounges. Lights from cars, windows, hotel signs, snowy grounds, and watery reflections enhance the sense of drama in his dreamy nocturnal shots. In a 1968 catalogue for a Brassaï exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, novelist Lawrence Durrell wrote: “He is very much a child of Paris, and in some ways the city’s most faithful biographer.”

Yet a seminal stateside exhibition tells the larger story of both the man and his oeuvre. Organized by Fundación MAPFRE and former MoMA curator Peter Galassi, the show, entitled “Brassaï,” opened in Spain earlier this year and landed at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) this month. The survey includes Brassaï’s pictures of street graffiti, female nudes, and his famous friends such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Self-portraits also populate the galleries. One, On the boulevard Saint-Jacques (1930–32), even captures Brassaï in his element: He stands on a snowy Parisian street in a heavy coat and a brimmed hat, cigarette propped between his lips, peering into a tripod-mounted camera.
“We should never forget that ‘the eye of Paris,’ as Henry Miller called him, was a foreign eye,” writes Antonio Muñoz Molina in his catalogue essay for the show. Indeed, BrassaĂŻ wasn’t a native Frenchman, but a Hungarian born in BrassĂł, Transylvania (in modern-day Romania, which was previously under Austro-Hungarian rule). After fighting in the Austro-Hungarian army during World War I and studying art at Berlin-Charlottenburg’s Academy of Fine Arts, the artist moved to Paris in 1924. There, in 1932, he changed his given name, Gyula HalĂĄsz, to a doctored version of his hometown’s name—his roots as a foreigner remained crucial to his vision and identity. Working as a journalist, BrassaĂŻ quickly integrated into the city’s cultural milieu. Throughout the 1930s, he met Picasso, Henri Matisse, and the Surrealists. Altogether, they contributed to the art magazine Minotaure, edited by Surrealist forerunner AndrĂ© Breton.

In 1933, BrassaĂŻ published around 60 photographs in Paris de Nuit (Paris by Night), which accompanied text by French writer Paul Morand. The book was a quick hit, and BrassaĂŻ received new commissions for publications ranging from the erotic magazine Scandale to Harper’sBazaar. In 1935, he published his second book, VoluptĂ©s de Paris (Pleasures of Paris).

Despite his social clout and early professional successes, Brassaï still viewed himself as an outlander of sorts. “He was roaming a lot of the streets in the evenings, trying to really understand the communities, the activities that were taking place at night,” says Linde B. Lehtinen, a curator at SFMOMA. His photography wasn’t about exploiting Paris, but about assimilating to his chosen home.

Even when the Germans invaded Paris during World War II, Brassaï refused to leave the country. He briefly fled to the French Riviera, but quickly returned to Paris, where his negatives (and inspiration) remained. When the allies liberated the city in 1944, Brassaï leaned out of his apartment window to watch—he was, as ever, the fearless voyeur. According to Lehtinen, the French mistakenly thought he was a German sniper and shot at him. They missed, but the bullet shattered Brassaï’s mirror. Of course, he took a picture to document the damage, which Lehtinen included in the show.
“Things were very dire then,” she says. “I think that was a big turning point for him.” The world that BrassaĂŻ had photographed with such adoration was gone, though he continued to live and work in France until his death in 1984. By the end of his life, he’d published 17 books and even produced one film, Tant qu’il y aura des bĂȘtes (As long as there are beasts), which was released in 1955 and won a major prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

Of course, BrassaĂŻ was just one of many photographers captivated by Paris. Fellow Hungarian native AndrĂ© KertĂ©sz and Frenchman Henri Cartier-Bresson were two of the major talents working with the same subject material in the 1930s. “What set BrassaĂŻ apart from KertĂ©sz, and indeed from all the photographers of Paris,ïżœïżœ writes David Travis in At the Edge of Light: Thoughts on Photography and Photographers, on Talent and Genius, “is that he wanted to picture what was obscured from everyday view, what was dangerous, and, most of all, what was forbidden.” Brassaï’s camera lingered on prostitutes, gang members, and the queer community in the interwar era—he gained entrance to Le Monocle, a lesbian nightclub in Montmartre; and Suzy’s, a brothel, among other underground venues.
“We’re looking at these views of 1930s Parisian society,” says Lehtinen, “but they’re also these incredible reflections on broader themes of community, labor, sexuality, gender, class, solitude
alienation, strangeness.” The surface glamour and appealing sinfulness of Brassaï’s pictures may initially captivate us. Yet it’s their deeply emotive, cinematic quality that transforms his subjects into characters with intergenerational appeal—none more so than the city of Paris itself.

À noter Ă©galement la participation de Rutger Hauer, qu’on avait pu voir dans “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” (2017).

A voir

NY / Marley Trigg Stewart: The Hills Keep Burning in California
Tumblr media
Marley Trigg Stewart: The Hills Keep Burning in California  Curated by Pacifico Silano  July 8 - July 31, 2022  Opening Reception: July 8, 6-8pm  press release written by Miguel Gutierrez
Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York is pleased to present The Hills Keep Burning in California, a solo exhibition by photographer Marley Trigg Stewart. The selection of work on view in the exhibition is an amalgam of personal history that acknowledges the unknowability of the past and how it haunts the present. Trigg Stewart began working on a series of photographs during the summer of 2020, a time marked by the convergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests. In that charged summer, Trigg Stewart discovered that his estranged father’s brother, Greg, died of AIDS related complications on Halloween in 1991, two years prior to his own birth in 1993. Set against the backdrop of a cross country trip Trigg Stewart took with his partner, this news instigated an exploration into family archive, landscape, queer ancestry, and memory.
Presenting pictures taken of found photographs and original photos, The Hills Keep Burning in California brings the past and the present into a non-linear conversation. His uncle Greg’s presence and absence infuse the collection with an aura of loss and the sense that relations between family members, and between one’s self and the environment, are always unfathomable. Using light leaks in some of the photographs, Trigg Stewart distends the realistic color palette of the frame by introducing glowing streaks of red, blue, yellow, orange, and magenta not native to the original representation. In doing this, Trigg Stewart allows an uncontrollable intervention - light -  to abstract his images, bringing them closer to pictorial and compositional values we associate with painting. These manipulations also hint at memory’s unintelligible qualities, imbuing them with aleatory beauty.
With these photographs, Trigg Stewart has articulated a queer, Black poetics that prioritizes unflinching intimacy, agency, and an interest in expanding the graphic possibilities of the photographic image. He sees some of the images in this exhibition as depicting “pastoral images of a sort.” Thus we see a vista of the Arroyo Seco in Altadena, near to where Trigg Stewart grew up in Southern California. This region inspired the Arroyo Seco school of plein air painting, which included proponents of California Impressionism. Trigg Stewart contrasts this image with another kind of landscape, the cemetery in the Presidio Park in San Francisco, where his uncle, who briefly served in the Navy, is buried among seemingly endless rows of veterans. He intersperses these images with self-portraits, and photographs of his father and brother, inducing the viewer into a hallucinatory walk through time and terrain.
The title of the exhibition comes from the Ocean Vuong poem, “Reasons for Staying”. Trigg Stewart’s collection of images acknowledges loss and poignancy without wistfulness. “The AIDS pandemic isn’t over,” Trigg Stewart notes, “and neither is COVID, or systemic racism.” With an eye bent on creation and imagination amidst these persistent crises, The Hills Keep Burning in California is a journey into one young artist’s reclamation of his own story and black male survival by communicating across time and space with his departed uncle.
MATTE Magazine will be producing a special issue of Marley Trigg Stewart’s work to coincide with the exhibition opening. The magazine will be available to purchase as an accompanying catalog.
Marley Trigg Stewart (b. 1993) is an artist from Pasadena, California, whose practice explores the notion of authorship in photography through personal histories. In 2020, Trigg Stewart was awarded the Made in NYC Photography Fellowship. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Tiger Strikes Asteroid’s programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

Red 5: A nonfiction
Visual Culture: A Reader Various authors; edited by Jessica Evans and Stuart Hall
Tumblr media
This is a journey I'm embarking on -- a 469 page collection of often-heady essays and excerpts from art historians, philosophers and other social scientists on various aspects of visual culture. 33 essays, seemingly about 10 pages each. I found with Judy Chicago that 10 pages a day, even if dense, was doable if I'm in the habit. So I expect this book to take me a little over a month, a long endeavor!
How did I come to own this book?
I bought it for an art history class in college. I'm old enough now that I don't remember the provocative title of the course off the top of my head, or even the name of the professor -- I remember he was bald, I took 1-2 classes with him, and I T.A.'d a class for him. He asked me to be a T.A. specifically because he thought my ideas and engagement were good, but I lacked confidence; he hoped helping others would help me find it.
In the class I took that I bought this book for, I met Ellen, the T.A. for that class. She ended up being a dear friend from afar for awhile, entwined as we were in the queer communities at Hampshire. When I moved to San Francisco she ended up being an endless blessing, introducing me to the lady who got me my first office job, and letting me take over her spot in The Ranch -- so much of my history flows out from there, eh?
About the book
I think I've only ever read 2-4 of the essays in this book -- that's the sham of college texts after all. I bought this whole book and was only assigned a few readings. But I know they're both seminal and dense. Seminal: Laura Mulvey's essay on the Male Gaze, Foucault's Panopticon, Benjamin's "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" -- I mean these are essays that formed the bedrock of visual studies, at least up until back when I was in the game. Dense, though, because many of the authors are either postmodern philosophers (Foucault, Lacan!) or contemporary-ish art historians, both groups who use a language that is almost impenetrable, partially for style reasons I suppose, and partially because they are working at the edge of knowledge, thus grasping for ways to understand and communicate brand new ideas -- sometimes you need the weightiness or obscurity of a particular word to communicate the gravity and newness of an idea I think.
Any other thoughts before starting?
I'm looking forward to this one. I think it's going to bring me back to the memory and feeling of being a student, I think it's going to give me an aura through which to view media in a critical way that will be fun to live with for a while, I think it's going to expand my vocabulary.
I'm also dreading it a bit, because I'm afraid of being bored, not following through with it to the end, spending too long reading it, dreading it? I guess if any of those things happen though -- I'm allowed to pick up other books in the middle if I need a break, I'm allowed to skip / skim sections if I need to, and if it really doesn't feel worth my time, I'm allowed to give up and get rid of the book altogether.
Reading the intro
Hah! Already so dense. Sentences like "However, the scrupulously pure project of the strucuralist moment of semiotics, which conceives of language as a system of signs immanent to a single or bounded group of texts and studied independently of history or the particular utterances of human subjects, needs to be both augmented and qualified." Geez!
The main crux of the intro, I think, is to explain that the point of this book is to give a necessarily multi-faceted introduction to the study of visual culture: first by laying the groundwork with some semiotic texts which they admit visual culture studies owes much. Then by exploring the technical limitations of image-making, specifically with photography, and how those technical limitations form, regulate, and have a language of their own within the creation of images and how we experience them. The there's a section on the role of subjectivity and identity -- the identity of the viewer, of the artist, of the subject, generally speaking examinations of all the relationships that go into an image.
Seems a worthwhile project! Another worthwhile project? Expanding my vocabulary by looking up words from the text I either don't know or kind of know but couldn't explain to you. A selection from the first 7 pages of this book:
* semiotic - of or relating to signs / the study of signs and symbols as elements of communicative behavior
* fallacious - logically unsound / deceptive / disappointing / misleading
* vicissitudes - successive, alternating, or changing phases or conditions, ups and downs / regular change of one state to another
* discursive - proceeding by reasoning or argument rather than intuition / also: digressive or rambling
Thoughts after reading Part A:
* It seems to me that a lot of these 10-page essays (that are excerpts of longer ones / books), could be a series of tweets. It's like, I get it. You made your point. Why are you repeating that point over again in each paragraph, in progressively aggro tones? It's been a while since I read / wrote essays -- are they all like this?
* It feels great to read academic / philsophical thought again, though. Even though I didn't feel particularly challenged or intrigued by any of the first 4 readings (introductory-ish texts to the whole book; treatises on "what is an image", basically), I did find my brain reaching for larger words, more thoughtful and critical words over the last few days since I started reading. I remember and re-understand my younger, college-age self through this. The pleasure I would get from reading and writing like this. I get it, I think. It's like solving puzzles, communicating your ponderings, looking for new understandings. I'm into it.
Thoughts after reading Part B:
* This part was trippy to read for a few reasons:
the first essay, Foucault's Panopticism talks about the system imposed upon plague-ridden society in the 17th century to contain said plague. How strange to read the rules now -- no leaving the house upon pain of death. No fraternizing with people outside your household if either of you have had the plague upon pain of death, etc. I felt my world zooming in and out reading that bit and didn't really care that Foucault was using it as an example of the authoritarian's dream pre-design of the panopticon.
Anyway the readings in this section were all very enjoyable / informative -- Foucault has a lot of prescient things to say about the power of being observed and the lack of power in not being able to see. Surveillance society and its most dystopian and punitive sounds awfully familiar. Walter Benjamin talking about the 'aura' of a piece of art, the somethingness of a thing and how the print is a mere shadow of that thing in many ways. He talked about how trees and have auras, and it made me wonder if they do and if they did and if I've just lived in a screen world too long to be able to see auras anymore.
Susan Sontag talks about living in an image world and how we don't fully realize the power of the image. She talks about photographs' "trace, something directly stenciled off the real...a material vestige of its subject" -- in essence this is a counterpoint to Benjamin, since she argues that the photographs do indeed contain an essence or fragment or even aura ("some trace of the magic remains: for example in our reluctance to tear up or throw away the photograph of a loved one"). I think what's especially interesting, though, is her observation that "reality has come to seem more and more like what we are shown by cameras. It is common now for people to insist about their experience of a violent event...that it 'seemed like a movie'" Our relationship to the real, to our selves, and to our experiences has been forever changed by photography and it was a pleasure to pause and wonder on that for a while.
Dick Hebdige then talks about a pop magazine of the 1980's called The Face, and what makes it a good magazine. I found many of the characteristics called out about the magazine hauntingly familiar -- it only allowed ads that played well with its own ironic/rebellious/humorous format, it juxtaposed serious news articles with silly gossip pieces with celebrity interviews (reminds me so much of the power of places like Buzzfeed, Vice, Vox!!), and in general it had a youthful, iconoclast, devil-may-care attitiude --daring to look at image and photography and art in their cultural pop context rather than debate the ethics, nicetities, formalities, etc. of them.
The Face seems like it was a cool magazine that had a ton of influence on how we position information and pleasure today. I really liked the essay, especially the author's self-consciousness about his position: he's studying this magazine as an exemplar of the sensibilities of the generation that comes after his own, and he compares it to a magazine that exemplifies his generation's values and style. But he doesn't do it in a derisive way, in fact while I sense a few polite jabs at the frivolousness of youth, I also sense an awe, a wonder, and a fascination that seems pure-hearted. I will want to read this essay again some day.
On to the next section! But checking in on the book overall:
- I like reading it, it makes me use a part of brain that is more engaged / engaging than usual
- I like thinking about these points in the context of when they were made; this book was published in 1999 and so far the essays inside range from the 1930s-1980s. Many of the issues these essays brought out as new or challenging ideas have been come to pass. So they seem obvious to me. But I like thinking about them as new, radical thought and what society must have been like before we thought the way we do now. If the goal of this collection is to cement the legitimacy, history, and practice of Visual Culture, I feel like that has been accomplished in the years since.
- I will keep this book on my shelves after reading it, even though it was one I thought might be a candidate for donation. I think I could come back to some of these essays (so far, the Foucault, the Hebridge, and Barthes), and even though the thoughts feel stale and dated, and I don't really care about photography studies very much, I'm happy to have this on the shelf -- if a bookshelf is a biography of its own, this book has a place on mine for what it says about me that I've read it and that I may come back to it in the future.
Quick thoughts on the rest of the book / conclusion:
Okay so I kind of sped-read through the second half of this book. A few thoughts per section:
C: Turns out I'm actually not interested in reading about the history / theory of photography as an institution or genre. These essays did not engage me, maybe they were too technical or not grounded enough in the social. I think I skipped Rosalind Krauss's altogether.
D: Similar to Section C, but I did enjoy this section a bit more as this was more on the institution side of things; museums, libraries, how nonprofit materials assume and push narratives of their constituents onto them and the public.
E: Fuck Freud. I hate reading Freud. I understand how seminal his work is to psychoanalysis, gender and race theory. But his work itself reads as so...primitive. Other readings later in the book position him in his male, white, colonialist self. But this whole section was him and theorists working directly off of his work. I skimmed/skipped a lot of it because it was so cringey.
F & G: My favorite sections. These pieces all worked from the texts before to theorize gender and race in visual culture. Honestly I'm not sure I have anything intelligent to say about this. I enjoyed these texts, it made me add more bell hooks to my TBR list, and I thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot from this section.
Overall
I liked and would re-read and/or reference at least 50% of them. The collection isn't perfect: the editors' intro texts between sections are inscrutable and weren't all that helpful in understanding the texts or curation. Some texts seemed they didn't belong at all; some did, but felt like they were in the wrong order. The focus on photography, specifically, as a technique and genre was, in my opinion, boring and a bit of a non sequitur to the rest of it. And of course there's the issue of relevance -- many of these texts are seminal, but the collection is over 20 years old. Surely there are more recent texts that include further thought past the 90s and don't include the texts in this one that felt outdated. So it's hard to recommend, but also worth holding onto instead of donating.

I. - http://thirdmonk.net/high-culture/mel-d-cole-hip-hop-black-white-photo-gallery.html
Mel d Cole is a very popular hip hop photographer. He has usually done new hip hop artists. I admire his work for capturing aesthetic photos. I think I would need to learn how to take a natural looking photo because most of his photos look like something natural is happening from the people. I could definitely improve the certain locations that he is taking these photos at.

Chi Modu is one of the most iconic og hip hop photographers. He did stuff for everybody that is famous from the 90's. I would have to learn from him how to get the right angle because a lot of his photos are really good. He gets the right angle on almost every single one. The thing that I think I could help him improve on is the usage of props on these photos. I think that if most of these photos had a cool prop these would be 10x more pop. than they are already.

Lee Jeffries is from Manchester, UK and he enjoys travelling around the world to capture black and white portraits of homeless people. His passion for homeless portrait photography started when he participated in a marathon in London. He happened to come across a young woman huddled in a sleeping bag and his conception of homeless people changed drastically. According to Lee Jeffries, the emotions of homeless people seem to ooze out which can tell stunning stories. I believe that I would have to improve on finding a location with the homeless and having that urge to do those photos. I don’t know what I could do to help on that one.

Erik Almas is a photographer from Norway, currently living in San Francisco. He was given a camera as present at the age of 12 and since then his exploration with photography has taken him many places. He pursued his education in photography at the Academy of Art University for 4 years. He was under some of the best tutors and mentors and developed his own sense of photography, which has definitely made his career. He is the proud recipient of numerous awards and his photos have featured in some of the top fashion magazines, news magazines and so on. I admire how his photos incorporate some type of beautiful landscape. I feel like I could help with letting him know where and why the model should be placed.

and the way a quarter of an inch can make a dog into a ‘magic’ board.” Few photographers have chronicled surfboard fins, and Hogan has breached the topic, with a mix of modern and old architecture – some wood, some color, each one with its own distinct aura. The photos remind us of how the simplicity of objects can become in their own way, beautiful masterpieces. I need to learn how to master design photography. I think I could implement my knowledge of placing things to get the right shadows and everything.

introducing,
waddup, peeps ?? this tiny bean goes by the name of rue ( she/her ) and i’ll be playing soft boyℱ, luca rosario. he’s pretty much a new faceclaim for me with an old character’s background. however, francisco has recently become my forever fave, therefore i’m so excited to have the opportunity to play him !! if you would like to hmu for plots / scream about connections all day long, please give this a like and i’ll come wiggling into your ims ( or discord; find me at justrue#2233 ) shortly after. under the cut, you’ll find a brief summary about luca and his life. also all my wcs are listed over here if you wanna check that out as well. his stats can be found here too. can’t wait to start interacting !!
Tumblr media
+ disclaimer: very slight talks of cancer and mental health are below. read at your discretion.
layer one: the stats.
name. luca leonardo rosario.
alias. people usually just call him by luca but sometimes luke, luki, or leo make an appearance.
title. over time, he has proudly deemed himself an obsessive pizza addict, artistic nutcase, or one of the missing dead poets society members.
name meaning. his true significance of his name means a bringer of light.
age. eighteen years old.
gender identity. cis-male.
pronouns. he/him.
sexual orientation. predominately panromantic demisexual. it isn’t so much so that luca is completely disinterested in sex (he’s got a perfectly good libido, thank you very much), he just doesn’t find himself sexually attracted to people based on physical appearance or initial impressions. instead he finds personality, intellect, and existing emotional attachment considerably more compelling. the idea of intimacy with somebody he’s not close with rather repulses him.
current residence. boston, massachusetts.
religion. he was raised roman catholic but converted to spiritual agnosticism when he was fifteen. he views that universal ethics and love are far more important than claims about any deity and trivialize the arguments supporting or rejecting such claims. to luca, it doesn’t matter which religion someone might follow, nor does it matter whether or not someone believes in god. what matters is what someone does, not what they believe. he has his parents’ full support in his switch even though the rest of his family practices catholism.
spoken languages. portuguese  (fluent/main), english (fluent/2nd main), french and polish (still learning but can understand it quite well).
education. currently a senior at houghton academy.
layer two: the story.
- so this is my baby boy, luca rosario and i love him sm ?? he usually goes by luca, but on occasion people call him either luke, luki, or leo. but he doesn’t care what people call him as long as it’s kind.
- luca was born in san paulo, brazil to both loving and supportive parents named jeremi and mariana. he lived there until he was six years old when his family moved to boston because his parents, who are both marine biologists, were located for work.
- his parents had him when they were both young.
- luca was also born out of wedlock, so by the time his parents decided to marry two years after he was born, his parents had already made the decision to give him his mother’s maiden name even though his father’s surname is polish.
- growing up, he had and still does, have a great relationship with his parents. with his childhood consisting nothing more than love and devotion from his parents, luca had nothing to complain about. his parents loved him dearly, whose pure heart and open-mindedness they helped to cultivate. they encouraged luca’s belief in extraordinary things and hoped he had carried it throughout his life growing up. his parents had always made him promise to have courage and be kind to others, for—as they explained to him—kindness has power, and that they would see him through all the trials that life could offer, in life and death.
- cancer/mental illness tw: when he was thirteen, his mother had been diagnosed with cervical cancer. upon hearing the news, luca’s whole world clasped. not only was he at a pivotal stage in his life where everything was changing and becoming more stressful ( becoming a teenager, starting high school, going through puberty ), one of the most important people in his life had be claimed by the deadly disease altogether. so many thoughts and feelings were going through his mind at the time, that he ran himself physically sick and had experienced his first panic attack. he has since been medically diagnosed with panic disorder. thankfully the cells on his mother’s cervix were diagnosed at precancerous stage and the doctors were able to treat it because it developed and spread. however, that didn’t and doesn’t stop luca from being in a constantly state of panic every time his mother so much as feels pain or coughs due to irrelevant reasons. the entire year had changed him and his family for a while.
- he has brother, who is three years younger than him, named tomás. his relationship with his brother, however, is a bit estranged. as much as he loves his brother and wishes they could see eye-to-eye, sometimes they have a tendency to butt heads often. whether that might mean your typical sibling arguments or full-on blown out fights, they just can’t seem to see get along. sometimes people believe they aren’t actually related or that they’re half siblings because when his brother was born, he took their father’s last name.
- most people would describe luca as the benevolent. despite being in a world where there’s hatred and suffering, luca declares himself independent and strong-willed by remaining kind-hearted and self-loving, not allowing the bitterness surrounding his life to overtake him and morph him into someone as cruel as the world seems to be every day. he makes the most of his life by remaining optimistic of the possibilities of a brighter future. but besides that, he’s also witty and sarcastic. he is unafraid to stand up for himself when he feels he’s in the right–or at least, attempt to do so. and although he strives to contain his optimism aura, he can fall into fits of frustration and annoyance quite often.
- he’s also super quiet and shy. he loves to make friends but because of his quiet complex, he usually has trouble speaking up and making his voice heard. he tends to become flustered a lot too when he can’t express his emotions; which he has trouble doing anyway when he’s not flustered.
- luca is capable of enduing tremendous hardship. though he may not handle difficulty in the healthiest or best way, often repressing emotion, he mostly like emerges on the other side. he doesn’t know how to express his emotions in a diplomatic way, but rather fumbles it all up and starts to ramble. rarely opens up because of this.
- to put it plan and simple luca is an art ho. luca always loved anything artistic. even when he was little, he would go around with his disposable camera and take pictures of everything and then take to paper to draw of all the things he had taken pictures of as well.
- he’s like a hippie dippy child of the universe. no joke. no seriously, his place at home is full of sensual shit and art. it’s getting out of hand and somebody needs stop him soon.
- he strongly believes that art is an umbrella term that relates to expressing of oneself ( not just through photography and painting ) and that everyone has the freedom to express themselves however they please. because of his beliefs, he chooses to break gender roles like bread and wears whatever the fuck he wants because yolo.
-  his appearance pretty much represents his hippie dippy lifestyle with him wearing all sorts of cute hipster shit. he’s clothes are v flow-y but don’t let that fool you. he doesn’t miss the opportunity to represent his upper-middle class within his style, so he does dress to impress, let me tell you ( he’s a fashion ho too ). his hair color changes sometimes too depending on his mood but it’s generally never too eccentric.

Synopsis : [read ebook] The California House: Adobe. Craftsman. Victorian. Spanish Colonial Revival #*DOWNLOAD@PDF>
The aura and romance of Old California lives on in this treasury of inviting homes. The California House presents the magic of the 'golden state,' that land of infinite promise and dreams, the most tangible expression of which can be found in the homes built by early California dreamers. Here domestic visions of tranquility and repose were inventively realizedñ€”in stucco or stone, wood and wrought iron, plaster, and glass and tile. Spanish Colonial Revivalñ€“style homes with elaborate wrought-iron window grilles, romantic, shadowy interiors, and lush courtyard gardens stand beside other particularly Californian architectural wonders such as the San Francisco Victorian Painted Lady, the Monterey Colonial, Eurekan Queen Anne, and the homey California Arts & Crafts. Including houses designed by luminaries George Washington Smith, Stanford White, Greene & Greene, and Reginald Johnson, this book will fascinate both the architecture aficionado and interior design enthusiasts, as well as the everyday lover of homes. Including, but going beyond, the much-adored Spanish style (in its many manifestations) and Mission Revival, the book features as well the Victorian of San Francisco's Painted Lady and Eureka's Queen Anne, Monterey Colonial, California Arts & Crafts, French Chateau, classic Colonial farm house, and more. All new color photography of 25 houses in California ranging in style from Spanish Colonial Revival, Mission, Victorian, Queen Anne, California Arts & Crafts, Monterey, French Chateau, Colonial Farm House. The book includes little known California work by well known architect Stanford White, known primarily for his East Coast work (designer of the original Penn Station with McKim, Mead & White, and original Madison Square Garden, and many others); as well as the Magdelena Zanone House (Queen Anne late Victorian style home in Eureka, CA); the Murphy House, San Francisco (Classic French Chateau); a Gothic Victorian 1860s home in Sonoma; Casa Amesti (Monterey style home); 'El Cerrito' designed by Russel Ray and Winsor Soule and built in 1913 in Santa Barbara (an amalgam of Mission and Spanish Colonial Revival); the Frothingham House designed by George Washington Smith in 1922 (Spanish Colonial Rev.); Cuartro Ventos House by Reginald Johnson, 1929 in Santa Barbara; William Edwards House by Roland E. Coate, Sr. in San Marino, 1926; Robinson House by Greene and Greene in Pasadena, 1905; Sack House in Berkeley (California Arts & Crafts) Brune-Reutlinger House in San Francisco (classic Painted Lady Victorian); a colonial mid-19th cent farm house in Sonoma; 'Mariposa,' classic Spanish style in Montecito; The Marston House in San Diego (Arts & Crafts/Tudoresque); Rancho Los Alamos De Santa Elena in Los Alamos (Span. Col. Rev.); Pepper Hill Farm in Balard.

LAYER TWO: THE STORY.
- so this is my baby boy, luca rosario and i love him sm ?? he usually goes by luca, but on occasion people call him either luke, luki, or leo. but he doesn’t care what people call him as long as it’s kind.
- luca was born in san paulo, brazil to both loving and supportive parents named jeremi and mariana. he lived there until he was six years old when his family moved to maryland because his parents, who are both marine biologists, were relocated for work.
- his parents had him when they were both young, making his parents both twenty-two when he was born.
- luca was also born out of wedlock, so by the time his parents decided to marry two years later, his parents had already made the decision to give him his mother’s maiden name even though his father’s last name is polish.

- to put it plan and simple luca is an art ho. he even went to university for it too ( the audacity of it all smh ). luca always loved anything artistic. even when he was little, he would go around with his disposable camera and take pictures of everything and then take to paper to draw of all the things he had taken pictures of as well.
- when he turned seventeen, luca decided he wanted to go to college after high school. so he applied to an arts school in new york and graduated at twenty-one with two degrees in photography and painting.
- for about a year after graduating, he took some time to create his own freelance business while also looking for jobs in the commercial and industrial world of photography. about a three months ago, a fashion agency, settled in california, had contacted him about loving the work he had done in his freelance business and offered him a job as their full-time photographer. of course he accepted the job and moved out to venice, california. he’s been there for a whole month and hasn’t looked back since.
- upon hearing the news of isabella souza’s murder and also being a suspect in the case, luca’s kind of been on edge since. granted, he never knew isabella all that well, considering he met her through a mutual friend of theirs about as long as he’s lived in venice and became rather decent friends because of it. but to know someone killed her, freaks him out. he never met someone who has been a victim of a homicide case before and frankly, he doesn’t know how to act since the news broke.
