T.G.I.F. - Let's have a drink!

Let's have a toast! Here is to the first week of The Nash Up blog! And here is a recipe for a sparkling wine cocktail:

Pear and Cranberry Bellini

1 cup of pear nectar

1 cup of cranberry cocktail

1 bottle of sparkling white wine

This cocktail is easy and the ingredients are not obscure. I went with a local sparkling wine by Illinois Sparkling Co., which is produced by August Hill Wine out of Utica, Illinois http://www.augusthillwinery.com/ http://illinoissparklingco.com/isc/isc_home.cfm

Nat and I thought the drink was delicious, appropriate for spring, and easy to make. Great for any celebration!

How to avoid making a mess and wasting half the bottle AKA How to open a bottle properly:

1. Make sure the bottle of sparkling wine is thoroughly chilled

2. Loosen the wire cage completely and remove, but make sure you hold onto the cork.

3. With a towel in your hand and around the cork, turn the bottle clockwise while turning the cork counterclockwise. Turn until you hear a slight pop.

If the sparkling wine is not trying to spray out of the bottle, then TA-DA, you've done it!!

Or you could just open the bottle like this:
