Lyon (Décines-Charpieu) Ch R1: Borna Coric [1] def. August Holmgren 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4 Match Stats
📸 ATP official website
A. Holmgren had some fair moments midway, but B. Coric's errors cost him the first set as the unseeded Dane had better anticipation by then. Nonetheless, the Croatian first seed adapted to the rhythm, and some shot winners played a crucial role in turning the tables around, outhitting A. Holmgren to some extent. As a result, even though both players had 10 opportunities to break, B. Coric converted 20% of them, one of each came from the last two sets of this match.
On the other hand, it also appeared that both players had their distinct service game strengths coming into this match. A. Holmgren might have scored 8 aces, but B. Coric had the slight edge by winning 87% of his first serve points, 13% more than the unseeded Dane, which helped him navigate the rest of the sets. However, B. Coric's 3 double faults only faded his second serve winning percentage to 48%, 5% lower than A. Holmgren, putting it more of a risk under pressure.
At the moment, B. Coric faces qualifier Milos Karol, who previously knocked out Stefano Travaglia 7-5, 6-3 in the first round. As neat as this match potentially looked like, this match will test more of their offensives and their pacing, but only the most consistent one, especially those who made less errors, who can stand out at the end of this match. This could be a tricky test, but who knows!

Sigurd Lewerentz Exhibition: Arkdes Stockholm
Sigurd Lewerentz Exhibition ArkDes Stockholm, Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design, Building Center
Sigurd Lewerentz: Architect Of Death And Life – Arkdes
3 Nov 2020
Sweden’s Most Revered Architect Subject Of Major Exhibition Opening in Stockholm In April 2021
Location: ArkDes Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design, Stockholm, Sweden
• Designed By Caruso St John
• Accompanying Monograph Published Spring 2021
Sigurd Lewerentz: Architect Of Death And Life
3 November 2020 – Sweden’s most revered architect Sigurd Lewerentz, regarded as a giant of 20th century architecture, is the subject of a major exhibition, Sigurd Lewerentz: Architect of Death and Life designed by Caruso St John, opening at ArkDes, Sweden’s national centre for architecture and design in Stockholm, in April 2021.
This will be a significant moment of assessment, the first major monograph exhibition of the work of Lewerentz since the 1980s coinciding with the publication of the first comprehensive biography.
Lewerentz, who was born in Bjärtrå in northern Sweden in 1885 and died in Lund 1975, is an enigmatic figure in the modern history of architecture. He rarely spoke publicly or published, but his influence is acknowledged by a generation of the world’s leading architects.
Colin St. John Wilson, paraphrasing E.M. Forster’s impression of the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy, said it was “as if he stood at a slight angle to the world.”
In the words of Adam Caruso, designer of the exhibition: “Lewerentz’s late projects represent an unprecedented integration of making and thought. Like Matisse, who advised young painters to cut off their tongues and communicate with brush, paint and canvas, Lewerentz was famously laconic. He did not teach and few of his own project descriptions survive. He built.”
The exhibition and the book are the result of four years of research. The majority of the objects in the exhibition are drawn from ArkDes’ own formidable collection, which will be shown alongside hitherto unknown or never previously exhibited objects that have been discovered in travels by the research team across the country.
The exhibition will cover the full range of Lewerentz’s works. Among these are three iconic projects: The Woodland Cemetery in south Stockholm, designed with Gunnar Asplund (1935-40), where many notable Swedish writers, musicians and actors are buried, including Greta Garbo, and his two late masterpieces, St Mark’s Church, in Bjorkhagen, dedicated in 1960; and St Peter’s Church, in Klippan, a town 60 kilometres north of Malmo, completed in 1966.The show will include a range of drawings of these famous buildings but also objects that show how Lewerentz’s collaborations with artists and theologians made buildings that were deeply literate and inventive about Lutheran traditions.
The exhibition will feature a newly commissioned work by the American artist Amie Siegel in the space called Boxen. Known for her layered, meticulously constructed works that trace and perform the undercurrents of systems of value, design and cultural ownership, Siegel works variously with film, video, photography, performance, sound and installation.
ArkDes will produce a landmark new book in connection with the exhibition, which will be the first ever published with full access to Lewerentz’s archive. Designed by award-winning graphic designer Malmsten Hellberg, it will contain 700 pages of drawings, photographs and models, plus excerpts from Lewerentz’s personal archive and library.
In August 2021, a Lewerentz Festival will be arranged in collaboration with partners throughout Sweden, to pay tribute to one of architectural history’s most revered, and most mythologised architects.
Kieran Long, Director of ArkDes and curator of the exhibition, said: “There is no Swedish architect with more influence on contemporary architecture today, or with more passionate advocates across the globe, than Sigurd Lewerentz. Devotees travel from everywhere in the world to see his buildings. There are very few architects in history with Lewerentz’s ability to make buildings that truly ask the biggest questions about what it means to be a modern person. His work powerfully evokes our deepest and most archaic cultural memories. But he was also fascinated by cosmetic and fleeting pleasures: Shopping, dancing, drinking and having dinner. The life of the city fascinated him and his work made a stage for our playful selves as well as our spiritual ones.”
Background
Sigurd Lewerentz Sigurd Lewerentz was born at Sandö in the parish of Bjärtrå in Västernorrland County, Sweden. He was the son of Gustaf Adolf Lewerentz and Hedvig Mathilda Holmgren. He initially trained as a mechanical engineer at the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg (1905–8). Later he took up an architectural apprenticeship in Germany.
He first opened his own architectural office in Stockholm in 1911 and became associated with the architect Gunnar Asplund (1885–1940). Together they made a winning entry for the Stockholm South (Woodland) Cemetery (Skogskyrkogården) competition of 1914–15. This project was implemented initially by both architects, however, the latter stages were done by Asplund alone. He and Asplund were appointed as the main architects for the Stockholm International Exhibition (1930) but afterwards Lewerentz became disillusioned, Lewerentz turned away from architecture for many years, and from 1940 he ran a factory producing windows and other architectural fittings of his own design.
Sigurd Lewerentz, together with his colleagues Erik Lallerstedt and David Helldén, created between 1933 and 1944 what is regarded of one of the masterpieces of functionalist architecture, Malmö Opera and Music Theatre (Malmö Opera och Musikteater). The foyer is considered of particular beauty, with its open surfaces and beautiful marble staircases and it is adorned with a number of works of art by artists such as Carl Milles and Isaac Grünewald.
He was awarded the Prince Eugen Medal for architecture in 1950. In the last decade of his life he designed two churches, St. Mark’s at Björkhagen in Stockholm (1956) and St. Peter’s at Klippan in Scania (1963–66), that revived his career in architecture.
He continued to work at competition proposals and furniture designs until shortly before his death in Lund, Sweden during 1975.
ArkDes ArkDes, located on the island of Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm, is Sweden’s national centre for architecture and design. It is a museum, a study centre and an arena for debate and discussion about the future of architecture, design and citizenship. It is housed in a beautiful building by Rafael Moneo and more recently ArkDes´ new studio gallery, called Boxen, designed by Dehlin Brattgård Architects.

Kieran Long Kieran Long, the British curator, critic and broadcaster, was appointed Director of ArkDes in April 2017. He was the architecture critic of the London Evening Standard between 2014 and 2014. He subsequently established the department of design, architecture and digital at the V&A in London in 2013/14, of which he was Keeper between 2014 and 2017. His television work includes presenting “Restoration Home’ and ‘The House that £100k Built’ for the BBC.

NBA News
As the regular season gets closer teams and preparing to compete against one another. The lakers have been getting involved in many trades trying to trade Russell Westbrook out of LA. The current rumor is that it will be a 3 way trade including Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz and a player from the New York Knicks.
There have been multiple injuries in the offseason. 2 of the most notable injuries this off season have been season ending, 1 of the injuries being the rookie for the OKC Thunder: Chet Holmgren who had a Lisfranc injury in his right foot. Another injury was Danilo Gallinari of the Boston Celtics who torn his meniscus and is also out for the season after just being traded.
The NBA has announced a new change to the schedule with an event called rival week. During this week Rival teams will play each other, this is a good idea as these games will probably being the most watched of the season.

OL Le Progres Article
Again, I am super reluctant to commit to doing this on a regular basis, but it does cover Lyon's preseason schedule, so here we are.
OL: Gradual Return for the Lyon Players
The OL players found their way back to the training grounds, Monday, two weeks after the men's team.
The OL women's team returned to training at the beginning of the week at Décines [Note: where Lyon's facilities are]. Very few for the moment (only nine professional players with Henry, Le Sommer, Bouhaddi, Morroni, Holmgren, Sylla, Sombath, Paljevic and the latest Lyon recruit Jaurena), most of the international players in England for the Euros, the group will adapt its schedule in the coming weeks according to a player's performance in the Euros.
Already having been eliminated from the competition with Norway and Denmark, Hegerberg and Bruun will be the first to rejoin the group after having had several days off. Just like Horan, who just won the CONCAF with the United States, and clenched their spot for the 2024 Olympics. Also Endler, who will play one more match against Colombia on July 21 in the Copa America.
While waiting for the outcome of the quarter finals in the Euros (Renard, MBock, Bacha, Cascarino, Malard with France, Damaris [Egurrola] and van de Donk with Netherlands, Dabritz with Germany, Cayman with Belgium), the players continue with the physical [fitness] tests in small groups at the training center in Décines, reinforced by several academy players. Meanwhile Catarina Macario and Dzsenifer Marozsan, victims of a torn ACL at the end of the season, continue their rehab at OL. Whereas Carpenter, who also suffered from a torn ACL, went back to Australia to spend a few weeks with her family after having already spent six weeks [rehabbing] in Lyon.
No summer preseason, then, considering the [FIFA} schedule of the international players. But there are two friendlies planned, against Servette on August 3, followed by ASSE on August 11, before a departure to the US on August 13. There OL, former winner of the International Champions Cup, will play Chelsea, Portland and Monterrey for the fourth edition from August 17 to August 20.

B. Coric then took advantage of an erratic start from A. Holmgren by firing a forehand pass to create his break point, but the unseeded Dane still held his serves to 1-0 to commence the deciding set. It was not until the next few games, where some third-shot errors from the Croatian first seed had him face several break points, but they were saved for a massive hold to 2-2, which became a crucial hold considering what happened in the next few games.
In the next game, points after scoring a shot winner, B. Coric's working smashes not only did pave a way to, but they also created his break point before it was converted to 3-2. He then faced another set of break points due to his errors (including a backhand pass fail that created the Dane's break point), but he secured a gigantic hold to 4-2 before almost doubling the break in the next game, which was saved with an ace before A. Holmgren held to 4-3. Since then, B. Coric had not looked back, successfully serving for the match by taking the third set 6-4 to secure his spot in the second round.

A. Holmgren had some fair chances in the second set, but B. Coric steadily controlled the flow as he stayed consistent while figuring things out from the baseline. After four consecutive service game holds, A. Holmgren's preceding backhand to B. Coric's forehand error almost did the damage right after the latter's double-fault to put the former a point ahead, but the first seed still held his serves to 3-2 by the end of that game. This was also the case several games later after an error forced the deuce and almost got broken, but B. Coric came up with a tidy point construction, steadily moving forward before volleying to create one of his game points before he held to 4-3.
This turned out to be a crucial service game hold, starting from a close-call shot from A. Holmgren earlier in this game, but a cross-court backhand winner from B. Coric secured his break point before it was converted to 5-3 over an error. As a result, B. Coric earned the opportunity to serve for the second set, which he ultimately did despite having a failed down-the-line approach from his forehand side to foil his own set point, taking it 6-3 to force the deciding set determine the outcome of this match.

Stormzy cuts a casual figure in a black hoodie as he visits an art exhibition with his assistant | Daily Mail Online
He was recently embroiled in a very public feud with rapper Chip.
And Stormzy seemed to have put the online drama behind him as he enjoyed a trip to an Andy Warhol art exhibition at the Halcyon Gallery in London on Thursday.
The Vossi Pop rapper, 27, appeared to be in good spirits as he wrapped his arm around a pal- thought to be his long-term assistant- outside the venue.
Cultural excursion: Stormzy appeared to be in good spirits as he enjoyed a trip to an Andy Warhol art exhibition at the Halcyon Gallery in London with his assistant on Thursday
Stormzy put on a relaxed display as he stepped out, donning a black hoodie and matching tracksuit bottoms.
As he left the building, some of the gallery's staff were seen rolling out a stunning black and white photograph and loading it into the star's car.
It is thought that Stormzy was joined by his assistant for the cultural excursion, reports The Sun.
She also cut a fashionable figure for the outing and looked chic in a knitted brown set and was seen laughing as she chatted to the rapper.
Relaxed: The rapper donned a black hoodie and tracksuit bottoms for the outing
Having fun: Stormzy's pal seemed to be in good spirits as they pair laughed and chatted
Something funny? Stormzy put on an animated display as he talked to his pals outside
In his love life, Stormzy has most recently been linked to Swedish Victoria’s Secret model Yasmine Aisha Khalifa Holmgren.
Reports in August had suggested the model and rapper enjoyed a secret reunion in London once lockdown regulations eased.
Stormzy and Yasmine were first linked in March after meeting backstage at his gig in Stockholm, Sweden.
He had been performing at the Annexet arena in Stockholm and reportedly crossed paths with Yasmine backstage, with sources telling The Sun the pair then spent two days together in a hotel in the city.
Stormzy had been single since his split with long-term love Maya Jama last August.
Stunning: A black and white photograph was loaded into Stormzy's car during the outing
Success: His assistant also toted a white bag with the gallery's name written across the front
Maya has since been linked to Drake, who reportedly first contacted the TV star in 2018, but she ignored his messages as she was still dating Stormzy at the time.
The God's Plan hitmaker, 33, even provoked Maya's ex Stormzy in a new song where he refers to the TV presenter as a 'sweet one'.
Stormzy's art exhibition outing comes after the rapper Chip, formerly Chipmunk, and Stormzy became embroiled in a very public feud earlier this month.
Chip, 29, shared a now-deleted video which he claims shows Stormzy and three of his friends on CCTV turning up at his house.
He wrote: 'June… When you get sent a video of Stormzy & friends tryna run up on your house.'
Pals: Stormzy wrapped one arm around his assistant while waiting outside the gallery
Chic: The assistant looked fashionable in a brown two-piece set
Group trip: They were also joined by another woman who cut a stylish figure in a leather jacket
It's claimed Stormzy says: 'Telephone me, innit.'
A voice then tells him: 'You think you can just pull up to people's houses? No I ain't gonna phone you, Stormzy. You're disrespectful bro, and that's that.'
It's unknown if the feud is real or just a marketing ploy and MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for both Stormy and Chip for comment.
Earlier in the year, Chip teamed up with Skepta and Young Adz on the track Waze and it's thought that he refers to Stormzy on the record.
Checking in: Stormzy took a moment to check his phone
Staying safe: His assistant held onto a face mask
Chip rapped: 'You ain't even done ten years in this ting. Round here we don't hear you're a king, man will take your throne.'
His words come after Stormzy called himself the king of grime in his Wiley diss track, Still Disappointed.
Stormzy then rapped on Tion Wayne's new track I Dunno: 'Is he sending for me? I dunno. What them boy there sell first week? I dunno.'
Whatever the case, fans of both acts have been taking to Twitter in their droves to comment on the supposed feud and share memes.
Heading off: A black car was seen waiting outside for the Vossi Bop rapper

Obama White House Kept Key Officials in Dark About Brennan’s Russia Intel
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v9xsOEgNWk
Declassified With Gina Shakespeare 5.18.2020
President Barack Obama’s White House kept three key officials in the dark about bombshell Russia intelligence received in early August of 2016 from CIA Director John Brennan until after the presidential election in November.
The three officials held the top roles focusing on Russia, cybersecurity, and intelligence programs at the National Security Council. Their exclusion is likely to raise new questions about the Obama administration’s involvement in the origins of the investigation of the Trump campaign that evolved into the probe by special counsel Robert Mueller.
The Obama administration coordinated a series of so-called “small group” meetings in response to Brennan’s intelligence, but excluded three officials who would usually be involved in high-profile work on the topics: White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Michael Daniel, Senior Director for Russia and Eurasia Celeste Wallander, and Senior Director for Intelligence Programs Brett Holmgren.

Your Tuesday Morning Roundup
It happened again. A loss.
The Phillies have now dropped 13 of their last 20 games dating back to the series opener against Arizona on August 6. Loss number 13 occurred last night as the Nationals downed the Phils 5-3. A Juan Soto single and a Matt Wieters homer gave the Nats the first two runs of the game in the first two innings. But a Roman Quinn triple and a Cesar Hernandez single tied things up in the bottom of the third.
The Nats would respond in the fourth with two runs of their own and add one more in the sixth, the first coming on a Stephen Strasburg bunt where Zach Eflin tried to send the ball to home plate for a force out, but instead it went into the backstop. The Phils had no response against Strasburg, who went six innings with five strikeouts. Rhys Hoskins hit a deep solo home run in the eighth but it wasn’t enough.
Eflin had a rough performance, allowing five runs off eight hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. The fielding error was his biggest stain of the night, and things could have been different if the force out was applied.
Meanwhile, the Phillies could have yet another new face to the organization in Jose Bautista. I’d say this would be a questionable move to make. But I guess something on offense helps, even though he hasn’t been that good.
Nevertheless, the Phils and Nats play again tonight at 7:05 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Another duel between Aaron Nola and Max Scherzer is on tap for the second time in five days. Get yourselves ready with the latest edition of Crossed Up.
The Roundup:
Another day, another practice for the Birds, who also made a small roster move. Gone is wide receiver Anthony Mahoungou. In comes safety Deshawntee Gallon. Thrilling stuff.
Brandon Graham has felt like a “caged-up lion” after returning to practice.
Graham said he is about “80 percent,” which admittedly doesn’t sound great. But based on his other updates, he might have just been a tough grader on himself.
“I’m feeling good,” Graham said Monday. “It was really good. Good start. It let me know I’m not that far. I wasn’t out of shape. That was pretty cool to know all the hard work we’ve been doing this offseason in the training room and the weight room has been worth it because now on the field, I ran a couple plays and I wasn’t as tired.”
More importantly, Graham said there were no issues with his ankle after going through practice on Sunday.
The hardest part of getting over the ankle injury, Graham said, is getting back to the ability to turn around a corner. That’s obviously very dependent upon a healthy ankle. He said that wasn’t an issue as the week of practice began.
After Doug Pederson got mad with reporters with incessant Carson Wentz questions, Mike Groh and Jim Schwartz were thrown into the fire yesterday.
The Hard Knocks bump really paid off in the really bad Eagles-Browns game.
Seven Eagles were named to ESPN’s top 100 NFL players list for this upcoming season.
There’s still no GM for the Sixers, but the team did make some promotions from within.

The Acme ad on the end of the ice is going to be weird.
Flyers president Paul Holmgren is very happy James vanRiemsdyk is back in the orange and black.
“I think he’s a more consistent player now,” Holmgren said. “When we had him, he was in his early 20s. As they mature, their consistency level goes up usually, and it did with JVR. It’s hard to find guys who can score like that. That was a tremendous signing for us.”
And one he wholeheartedly endorsed. For a team that finished 12th in team scoring last season, and one that could use a left wing and some size, JVR “checks a lot of boxes,” Holmgren said. Van Riemsdyk, 29, can also fill a leadership role for a young team, especially when it comes to players keeping themselves healthy in a grinding 82-game season.
He also adds to one other expanding column, Holmgren said.
“All of a sudden, there’s a lot of players on our team who were drafted by the Flyers,” the Flyers president said.
“That’s kind of cool.”
