tbh noise preference should be more than "loud/quiet"
I not only agree with the statement said by this person, I agree with the principle by which they are stating it. It used to be that I would listen to specific vaporwave albums when I would go to bed, and specific vaporwave albums when I would do other things. When I worked late at night, I had a specific three album set of vaporwave Ambience that gave texture to the night and made it feel less monotonous, even in it's monotony. Being able to hear the Animal Crossing soundtrack on some days, and the Oppenheimer soundtrack on other days, influences not just my mood, but my behavior, my persona, and how I am feeling.
There is a reason I make certain foods in certain dishes, and other Foods in other dishes. There is a reason I like cooking certain ways, and not other ways, and it is because the preference of the sound, the texture, the process, is very calming to me. I will take a taquito from any location, gas station, microwave, and oven included, but I will not stand for a half-assed quesadilla made poorly or tacos that taste like shit from a place of supposed quality.
The small minutia of life, the tiny things that exist in this world that give us pleasure and pleasantry, the voices of the objects we use and the substances We Exist Within, deserve to be heard and deserve to be treasured, and I will not stand for the idea that they shouldn't be or that those who are fascinated by this minutiae are in some capacity ludicrous. They're not ludicrous.
If you need any kind of demonstration of this principle, look no further than the games animal crossing, Katamari damacy, and the cartoons Camp Lazlo and chowder. Each animal in Animal Crossing has a different house, style, greeting, sounds, and affects that make them into an archetypical character which we can imprint upon, and which we can bond with and whom forms a continuous, ever-changing relationship with the player that can eventually terminate or be rekindled, each level and setup in Katamari textures the level, and if you change the backing track used, the vibe of the level changes, and this is best exemplified in the animal collection and underwater collection levels, in which the backing tracks include an animal barking rendition of the Katamari theme and a song called Houston which, for lack of a better way of describing it, sounds like an underwater level song. In Camp Lazlo, the Aesthetics of the Town versus the camp versus the different cabins versus the characters and their Aesthetics and behaviors give us a general Vibe of each character and idea, one which is lost if these characters were then taken out of their original contexts, and put onto character models like in fortnite, or in massive corporate crossovers, where there is just a constant slurry of references with no heart or substance or means to make it fit the character and who they are. In chowder, every single character in the main cast and even many of the guest cast have their own unique texture and color to go along with their unique silhouettes. This texture gives a Vibe or a style of the character which transcends who they are, and this does go so far as to the way they talk, the sound effects they use for some of the characters, and even how some of those characters speak.
The difference between a good podcast or a bad podcast in a lot of people's eyes is the presence or absence of certain audio textures. if a podcast is supposed to take place in random coffee shops around a city, as in the case of the Anarchy me anything/anma, podcast produced by the now defunct company Rooster Teeth, it would make sense for the audio texture to have some happenstance sound that would add to the experience of what the podcasts intent was. But if the podcasts intent was a dramatic reading of a story, the sound of a fucking truck in the background, with no sufficient explanation or excuse, would destroy the entire concept of the podcast.
The Sonic texture of different types of music allows you to understand what kind of music you're listening to without actually having to say the name of the music in the introduction. There is a difference, for example, between jazz and funk and Blues, all of which is derived from The Inspirations behind those musical stylings, African American Musical traditions. That difference is found in the texture of the music, how different things are played, what instruments are prioritized and deprioritized, and what acceptable sounds there are within the tracks.
Good movie sound design is clear when it needs to be an unclear when it isn't, it balances the music with the sound effects, and it understands when either need to be prioritized over the other. I saw the TV glow for example wants you to know the difference between what is on the tv, and what isn't on the tv, and then when it wants you to question those things, the sounds from both the television and the supposed real world blend together, in tandem with the effects used on the screen.
The motif of the Imperial march, Godzilla's march, and the Top Gun theme are supposed to characterize militarism and warfare as villainous, monstrous, or glorified in each respect, based upon how they sound. The Imperial March sounds repetitive, constrained, and militant, Godzilla's March seems forceful, escalatory, and terrifying with different squealing elements and sudden lurching sounds within the music, and the Top Gun theme is meant to make planes on a screen go from interesting looking vehicles shot in fantastical ways, into the coolest goddamn thing you can ever see, resulting in military recruitment going up substantially. A major part of the characterization of something is the texture of its sound.
The Sonic texture of Godzilla's March, to be very intimate, has squealing trumpets, heavy drums, urgent and shaky violins, all of which create this air of violence carried in Godzilla's movie. The thumping repetition of the Imperial march, the heavy drums, the low notes, the trumpets used for the Imperial fanfare, all create a sense of uneasy and overbearing militarism, one which is villainous, ominous, and monstrous, and even machine like to help illustrate the Monstrous machine that is the Imperial government. The Top Gun theme uses fucking electric guitars and Kenny Loggins and popular music motifs to make the Navy and the Air Force seem popular and not, as they should be seen, a bloated machination made by hellish monsters for the express intent and purpose of perpetuating war in infinity.
Open concept houses, as helpful or as wonderful as many people think they can be, are not to my preference, and I would much rather have a house that has designated rooms for designated things. The bathrooms Sonic texture should be distinct from the kitchens, as should the coloration, as should the objects in there. Meanwhile, the kitchen should sound like a kitchen, instead of hearing the quiet drip of different faucets, I hear the hum of the refrigerator, the quiet muscle drop of new ice being produced by the ice maker, and I should hear the role of the drawers. In the living room, I should be able to hear whatever is in there, the soft squish of the cushions, the noise of the television, the noise of the radio, the clicking on and off of lamps, and if it has one, a fireplace crackling.
Even in open concept houses, open concept spaces, and spaces where these things blur together, those distinctions need to be obvious and easily made, because the idea of Harmony in a space should not transcend people's ability to live in it. A space should feel lived in, not industrialized.
What is designated to be the bathroom should be distinctly colored, and distinctly placed from what is the living area, this is not just sanitary, this is a necessity. Even when making tiny, unlivable rooms, as demonstrated by the infamous "galvanized square steel" tiktok videos, the bed looks different, and is made distinct from, the bathroom areas, the kitchen areas, even when they blend together, they are made to be distinct and easily separated from each other, and to have different sounds or substances. Just because it contains the necessities, does not mean it is something that people can live in necessarily, life is not based on necessity alone, it is based upon livability, breathability, comfort, ease, and preference. This is why Living Spaces are diverse, this is why even in spaces that are standardized, or made to be equitable, people add their own stylistic and human differences, because living spaces can never be fully accommodated in terms of pure pragmatic necessity, but must be accommodated in terms of cultural or human preference as well, because humans are not purely pragmatic beings, they are feeling, thinking, illogical beings that need things to be different and to feel different in order to feel individually unique and valued.
The concept of necessity should not supersede the concept of comfort, and instead should work in tandem with it.

I forgot to mention this, but I go to a trivia night at a local geeky bar, and two weeks ago, they had a category about Cartoon Network originals. I may have suggested it oops
Needless to say, my team and I got a perfect score, but feel free to play along yourselves at home.
It started off with an audio question where you have to guess the theme song. I’ll just say “dad was proud, he didn’t care how”
What special power does Jake from Adventure Time have?
What does the initials KND stand for?
What are the names of Courage’s owners?
The creator of Camp Lazlo also created what 90′s Nicktoon?
What kind of animal is Gumball Watterson, and what kind is Darwin?
Alien Force, Ultimate Alien, and Omniverse are sequels to which series?
Steven Universe is the child of a human and which Crystal Gem?
The 00′s CN original Class of 3000 was created by which musician?
There’s a “guess the most popular answer” question, where you have to guess which Ed was the favorite of the bar. Ed won with 7 votes, Eddy with 5, and Double D somehow only got one vote (not counting the host, who chose him as his favorite)
For the bonus round, what was the first CN original to air on February 20th, 1995?

It’s Comic-Con International Week in San Diego and for everyone that can’t be there in person, Mr. Media is sharing some of our best past interviews with comics creators, such as this interview with Joe Murray, creator of “Rocko’s Modern Life":
Joe Murray has a natural flair for animation and characters that are bursting with… character.
But between you and me—and I gotta be honest here—he is also responsible for creating some of the ugliest cartoon characters in history. Have you ever really looked at Rocko, the star of his original Nickelodeon hit, Rocko’s Modern Life?
What is that?
And Lazlo—OMG!
But his cartoons look great, despite the somewhat hideous characters, and kids love them. I know this first hand; my almost 14-year-old son to this day insists he is Camp Lazlo’s #1 fan.
JOE MURRAY audio excerpt: “I have never been introduced before by talking about the hideousness of my characters! Rocko and Lazlo are my children! But the characters are all about imperfections.”
Murray, the creator of all this madness, just published a fascinating book called Creating Animated Cartoons with Character: A Guide to Developing and Producing Your Own Series for TV, the Web, and Short Film. Even if you’re not a wannabe animated but just a fan of the art, you’ll find plenty to read about here. The book is packed with practical information, behind-the-scenes anecdotes, rare production sketches and Q&As with an array of familiar animators, from Craig McCracken, creator of The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Laboratory to the creator and voice of SpongeBob Squarepants, respectively, Steve Hillenberg and Tom Kenny.
Speaking of Kenny, we’ll give a listen to Murray and Kenny at work on a new series they’re developing for KaBoingTV.com, Frog in a Suit. We’ll also have an actual sneak preview from Frog in a Suit in the second half of today’s show.

Seven Team-Building Tips Your Startup Can Take From NFL Training Camp
For NFL groups, the intense pursuit in the direction of a Super Bowl ring starts under the hot summer sun during training school. It's a time where novices get checked, and also experts improve their craft. And most importantly, training school offers a stage for an amorphous group of over 75 people to change right into a natural system and also drive in the direction of a shared goal: winning.
For start-ups and also creators, winning is additionally asserted on team-building. In a setting where recognizing the appropriate individuals to include in your team can occasionally appear like trying to locate a needle in a football. ahem ... haystack, supporting that group becomes a lot more crucial.
And while it's a deluxe to have celebrities on your roster, the chemistry of your group can have merely as much of an influence on winning as the specific skill-- merely ask Expense Belichick. Here are 5 takeaways from NFL training camp that startups can make use of to construct a more potent team.
Set Goals
If you have actually enjoyed Distress, you understand that early in training school the coach usually calls a meeting with the whole group and also offers an enthusiastic speech to rally them around the quest in the direction of the ring. This speech gives every person in the area, no issue their standing, an usual goal to function towards.
As a start-up, setting objectives early as well as usually is essential to success. Once you've employed people that share comparable worths as well as interests, you require to consistently stir the flames via constant personal goal setting. And also they could be small objectives: 10,000 new users by the end of Q2, a reduction in expense each purchase, improved client service, etc.
Having goals to adhere to gives you yard lines to pass as you head in the direction of the end zone. And having visible markers/goals has actually provened to be a game-changer. Actually, a Harvard Business College research located that those that had created goals were 10 times much more effective than their peers.
Build Trust
As "The Large Tuna", Costs Parcells, the famed no rubbish coach places it: "If the gamers don't trust the instructor it is an issue, and also vice-versa." Groups are improved depend on - without it they are predestined to fall short. Trains make use of training camp to set up an approach where if you do just what is anticipated of you, the group will do right by you. On several celebrations, previously unidentified gamers have actually protected starting placements throughout camp all since the trains put their count on in them as well as enabled them to succeed.
In the work environment, this is merely as crucial. As Lazlo Block, SVP, Individuals Operations at Google puts it: "Be transparent and straightforward with your people, and provide them a voice in how points work. And also the only method for that to take place is if you offer up a little bit of your authority, providing them space to expand into it."
Learn the Playbook
Even a beginner NFL viewer understands one of the most challenging thing for an NFL rookie is finding out the plays. Regardless of how high they score on the Wonderlic, a playbook could resemble a binder loaded with hieroglyphics to a novice. That's where the trains are available in. Their capacity to stroll the team via the plays day-in as well as day-out allows the players to more quickly absorb as well as keep in mind them.
Too frequently in the workplace we assume that our team members have a clear enough understanding of things making an effect. It's easy to get mesmerized in our very own everyday, and we have to force ourselves to take a step back every now and then and also do a walk-through with our group to make certain that everyone is on the exact same page and help those who require a little extra tutelage. Component of being a terrific leader is the capacity to make others around you better.
Bring the Outdoors into Inspire
Inspiration is available in all types. The Dallas Cowboys lately got a dosage of motivation when Denzel Washington visited their training camp. Equally as Coach Boone - "Remember the Titans" - definitely provided a motivational pep rally for the Cowboys, bringing the outdoors into meet with your group can have the very same results.
Seek business owners who have actually trekked the same journey you are taking on to give you some words of knowledge. Look for idea leaders to share ideas you could never have considered. Or simply generate a visitor to narrate that gives a rejuvenating break from the grind.
Compete with Chemistry
The start-up world could be as fierce as the gridiron. With the severe truth that most of start-ups will eventually fail, groups depend on their capacity to contend more difficult as well as faster compared to every person else. The only way to truly accomplish that is by having solid chemistry in place. Without chemistry, goals could be disjointed as well as opposed to contending against the competition, you'll wind up fighting your personal team to back on the right course.
However, some kinds of competitors within a team create far better output. Look no even more than Amazon.com. Simply take care not to press the competition also much. Most employees at small job and start-ups are entrepreneurial themselves and entrepreneurs are normally affordable people. Develop an environment where a little gracious competitors provides members a reward to do at their best.
Take Off the Pads
Everyone requires a break. Also NFL teams give their professional athletes a respite from the arduous training camp practices as well as enable the squad to bond with off the field activities that have absolutely nothing to do with football.
Your team is most likely spending a huge amount of time inside, hunkered before their screens under artificial lights, pushing themselves to the restriction, as well as perhaps even obsessing a bit excessive about developing the next unicorn. It's time to take a step back and also obtain out. The change of surroundings will enable you to see your team members in a whole brand-new light and give you a newly found respect for them as individuals.
Over the years, I've seen a great deal of teams enter into some of our events with their workplace hats still on and also little linking them apart from the business they help. By the end of the event, they're damaging out in dance together ... literally.
Extra Point: Lead Like Lombardi
Working in a start-up can be one of the most amazing and also fulfilling times in an individual's life. It could also be among the most attempting. Because of that, solid management goes a lengthy way in developing culture, aligning goals as well as driving innovation.
Heralded as one of the best instructors of perpetuity, Vince Lombardi believed that every individual in the team - no issue their position on or off the area - is merely as essential as the next. The legendary audio bite machine when said, "The obstacle of every company is to build a sensation of dependancy on one another because the concern is not exactly how well each person works, but how well they function together."

K-HAM CA brings us 'Astro Traveling 2'
K-HAM CA brings us 'Astro Traveling 2'
There is a lot to be said for K-HAM CA’s latest album Astro Traveling 2, and to really understand its message, you are going to have to listen to it more than once. The second instalment in the Astro Traveling series brings us the same smooth flow from the Toronto-based rapper, and with 12 tracks and features from DONKNOW, Cap’n Morgan, Chris Larocca, and Mad Blackit is an audio treat.
The true beauty of Astro Traveling 2: Albatros Hill is that it is not just an album, but rather a musical project that was written and produced to stir thought, and to encourage delving into a deeper perception of our subconscious ideas of success, discovery, and understanding – not just of others, but of ourselves.
Once you’re able to accept who you are; assets and liabilities in all, you are able to move with a clear vision of exactly what it is YOU continue to strive for.
Something I have really come to appreciate with the amount of music out there in the digital age, is an artist that isn’t afraid to step away from popular, genre specific sounds. K-H manages to do this, incorporating familiar elements into a production style that is unique and captivating. This also lends itself to the deeper purpose of the album, to give listeners the courage to embrace their individuality, instead of conforming to the expectations and ideals we are faced with every day.
If you aren’t familiar with K-H’s music, expect a rap style that is similar to that of Kid Cudi (yeah, he’s that smooth) and varied melodic feels, some with a more traditional underground sound, and others that are a lot more experimental.
Although this is the direction that K-H is headed, it is not where he started. Having been inspired by the likes of Hendrix and Zeppelin, the musician took up guitar in 9th Grade and aspired to be in a band – but discovered his passion for creating instrumentals when taking up a music production class 2 years later. After working closely with local musicians and with a host of brilliant instrumental tracks under his belt, K-H was well on his way to becoming a respected producer as early as 2011.
After being introduced to elements of old school hip-hop, the K-HAM CA we now know was brought to life.
Astro Traveling 2 is lyrically and vocally strong, which allows the rapper to get away with a sound that is very different to the kind of hip-hop circling the mainstream circuit at the moment. There is some pretty rad sampling throughout the album, which is also something that works quite well with K-H’s rap style.
My favourite tracks from the album have to be ‘Camp Lazlo’ and ‘Ceelo’, both of which manage to execute a laid-back feel while hitting hard with their messaging.
Travel in a pack of rap psychos, spit bullets from the tongue, everybody lie low. My role has turned the main act into a side show.
Stay ahead of what’s good by giving Astro Traveling 2 a listen below.
