The atwied (1989) watch is DONE and it really redeemed itself in the second half.

The second episode was pretty convoluted at times, but still kept to most of the main plot points in the book from India to Yokohama.

The third episode didn't add much that wasn't in the book, which is fine because there was already a lot of existing content to get through (the entire American leg of the trip). Aouda standing up for the Native Americans was 👏🏼👏🏾👏🏿

Aouda and Phileas's relationship was a bit more fleshed out, and their happy ending felt deserved and satisfying. I also loved how they incorporated the poetry detail from the book.

Oh, and there's a scene with Cornelius Vanderbilt that they didn't have to include, but they did it for us and I for one am thankful for the belly laugh.
