I have a question about that scene in Love Sea. I saw your post saying we could ask you about Thailand culture and I was wondering what your interpretation of it was since folks on here had a lot to say about colorism. If I'm overstepping, please feel free to ignore me. I'm not meaning to. I'm just curious what the Thai perspective is.
I'd like to start this off by saying that any genuine curiosity is never an overstep to me. In fact, I appreciate anybody who feels like they can come to me to have these types of conversations rather than making any uninformed generalizations. It's why I made that post to begin with 😊😊😊
I have to admit, that I had no intention of watching Love Sea until after it had finished airing... and mostly for the sapphic cut hehe But my partner is watching it as it airs and when I tried to ask for clarification about the scene you were referring to, I found it better for me to just watch the episode in full myself. So I did...
I think I'm going to tackle the colorism culture that exists in Thailand before I analyze anything having to do with the series. My father is black (Haitian) and my mother is Thai... and that resulted in some very unique experiences for me. Please keep that in mind, as these experiences are going to be what inform my cultural viewpoint.
Colorism exists as a systemic prejudice in Thai culture. The beauty industry, the entertainment industry, and even some cultural traditions place a higher value on lighter skin which is seen as 'preferable' and more attractive than darker skin (especially if you are a woman). It ranges anywhere from what I consider to be ignorant colorism... where someone might say something without even realizing it has racist undertones... to blatant racism where words like ไอ้ดำ are thrown in our faces and we are very obviously being judged. For example, a disagreement on political views could easily become about a person's skin color, rather than a comment on the actual discussions being had (i.e. Nam Patcharaporn). Like all countries, these prejudices vary from place to place. I've been involved in very uncomfortable situations (to put it lightly) in Pattaya... but other than familial issues (I won't get in to any of that) I've never really experienced racism in Pathum Wan. Have things gotten better in more recent years? Slightly. But a lot still needs to be done to reverse racist prejudices and promote a more inclusive society. It's why something like The Last Case and Ester Oruche's casting made me very emotional [X]
Now...on to Love Sea: I actually took Mut's remarks on Rak's "pale skin" to be a pointed mini-commentary on colorism (which if that really is the case...well done Mame!) It read to me as... these are the things you value? that you (Rak) put yourself above me (Mut) for? You (Rak) clearly expect me (Mut) to find you appealing and attractive but it's not going to go according to what you think. I could be way off base, but I do so hope that that was its intended purpose because it makes such a small moment feel like a well earned victory to someone in Mut's shoes.

MOONLIGHT CHICKEN – THE THEME SONG
youtube
I think everybody must already know this by now, but just in case – Moonlight Chicken is a series that leans heavily into the Thai-Chinese experience (cultural markers abound – chicken rice, the names like Wen and Li Ming, the joss sticks and offerings, mooncakes and the Mid-Autumn Festival, the temple with its red Chinese characters, so many others).
The reasons are multiple I think; ostensibly this is Director Aof's homage to his childhood in Pattaya (if I'm not mistaken that is, I think I read it somewhere on Reddit?) and if it was a Thai-Chinese childhood then yes it makes sense. But it also dovetails nicely with Thailand's efforts to market its cultural offerings (of which BL is one) to the giant East Asian market, while potentially attracting even more visitors for the important tourism sector.
Anyway, this partly explains why the theme song is sung NOT IN THAI but in Mandarin Chinese. And it's significant for a couple of reasons.
The first – the song is titled "The Moon Represents My Heart" (月亮代表我的心/yuè liang dài biǎo wǒ de xīn), and it is a perfect fit for all the lunar-themed references in this series (or maybe it was their start point? 🤔).
But there's more – the song (originally popularized by the late Teresa Teng in the 1970s) was given an LGBTQ+ twist by the late, great Leslie Cheung when he publicly came out and sang this love song to his partner in a 1997 concert:
Because of this, in some Chinese-majority areas (I'm thinking Taiwan and Hong Kong, not sure about Singapore) the song has now become an iconic queer love song. And this is why Mile and Apo also sang it during the Taipei leg of the KinnPorsche World Tour (Taiwan being the first state in Asia to legalize gay marriage).
It's not just any old song – it fits the themes of this show perfectly, and I'm hopeful that other aspects of Moonlight Chicken will also show that they came about from the same deliberate and deeply thoughtful approach to the creative process.
Can't wait for the next episode! 💖

I really wish this ask goes off anon crossing my fingers on this one. The asks game is so nice i feel like Im huddled in a blanket with all you girlies (gn ofc) as we share stories-
I got a few story times, buckle in girlies I am gonna start rambling-
4 years ago I went to bali and there was this boy from New Zealand who had little freckles and ginger hair and a cutie pookie face. I met him at the hotel pool where we talked for quite long and then we said goodbyes and he had the prettiest smile ever and I never saw him again cause I left bali the very next day. If u see this I had a small instant crush on you and I still think of you occasionally lolz. (rizzing up a hi heheh)
also as I went to Thailand just a few days ago, I had a tour guide in Pattaya who was literally a kenjiro tsuda (nanami's va) lookalike, idek do you call that falling in love but I was shamelessly watching him drive cause that was attractive WHAT and he was waiting for us, wearing sunglasses and was smoking when we returned from the tour place to go home and I felt the butterflies MY GOD. Then I got to know he has a son and I felt like a homewrecker thank goodness I didn't see him ever again cause I was so ashamed lmaooo.
I am talking so much but this one is spooky special- Just a week or two ago, I had this dream of a zombie apocalypse and it was so scary. usually these movies don't really scare me much but in the dream I was like living through it and it was pretty vivid like blowing up doors to fight zombies, and there were even like sensors that would go off if a zombie was nearby and my sister was there in my dream too and I was saving her from this bloody zombie and then i woke up sweating and it was probably dawn so when I woke up I heard footsteps in the dining room and I froze and got the biggest scare in years. turns out it was my mom who came for a glass of water and prayers. Like girlie you scared the sleep out of me hello? the way i still remember parts of this dream. shit was spooky but it spices my life lmaoo
soo yeah these are at the top of my head i got a fair few but Imma keep it short with these 3 luv yall cant wait to hear from so many of yall too
hi sami!! welcome to the sleepover ✨
join the sleepover! send in an ask sharing/asking anything you want!
omg the way you still remember the boy from 4 years ago ajsnsjsnsjsh 😭 he does sound cute tho!
and thailand!! how was that for you?? & finding a kenjiro lookalike omg 😭 but i completely get u when u feel embarrassed cos… yeah 😭
and ur dream omg!! i’d surprised too if i woke up to noise while that was happening omg 😭 sometimes i get rlly vivid dreams too 😭 but my dreams are a bit more weird i think? than outright spooky! scary dreams for me are when they feel so true to life that i find myself thinking within the dream if i’m actually dreaming? (idk if that makes sense! almost like i’m looking for markers within the dream to let me know that i’m dreaming 😭)
thanks for dropping by to share sami!!! 🫶🏻

Two of Thailand's most well-liked beach locations are Hua Hin and Pattaya, each of which provides visitors with distinctive amenities and experiences. Personal preferences, the kind of vacation one wants, and the most alluring attractions will all play a role in which option is selected.
Hua Hin Amenities
For those looking for a calm getaway, Hua Hin is well known for its serene atmosphere. The region is a great place for families, couples, and golfers because it has upscale beach resorts, boutique hotels, and golf courses. Along with a variety of marketplaces, like as the well-known Cicada Market, where tourists can purchase handicrafts and savor regional food, Hua Hin is home to historical landmarks like the Klai Kangwon Palace and the Hua Hin Railway Station. Its serene beaches are ideal for leisure and water sports because of their silky sands and crystal-clear seas.
Is Pattaya Not as Good as Hua Hin?
While Pattaya is well-known for its exciting nightlife and upbeat mood, Hua Hin offers a more relaxed and family-friendly setting. For those seeking entertainment and nightlife, Pattaya offers a vibrant Walking Street, top-notch retail centers, and amusement parks. However, tourists looking for a slower pace and more natural beauty favor Hua Hin.
Because Pattaya is closer to Bangkok and offers quicker travel alternatives, it has an advantage in accessibility. However, those seeking a more genuine Thai coastal experience away from the tourists will find Hua Hin appealing.
In conclusion, Pattaya is the place for people seeking excitement, whereas Hua Hin is the place for a calm retreat. The decision ultimately comes down to the kind of trip one is looking for, as both locations provide excellent hospitality and attractions.

Live Poker in Thailand | Where to Play and What to Expect
The Rise of Poker in Thailand
Poker is gaining popularity in Thailand, with a growing community of players who enjoy the strategy and excitement of the game. Live poker in Thailand has traditionally been limited due to the country’s gambling laws, but private games and exclusive poker events have created opportunities for players to compete.
These games are often hosted in luxury hotels or private clubs, where the environment remains discreet and secure. The underground poker scene in cities like Bangkok and Phuket is thriving, with poker players seeking private games that follow a more relaxed atmosphere compared to regulated casinos.
The Appeal of Thailand Online Poker
Given the challenges of finding legal live poker rooms in Thailand, Thailand online poker has become an attractive option. The legalities of online gambling are less restrictive, making it easier for Thai players to join global poker tournaments and cash games.
Online poker in Thailand provides the convenience of playing from anywhere at any time. Platforms like PokerStars, GG Poker, and 888poker serve Thai players with a wide variety of poker formats and tournament options. These platforms are known for their reliable security measures, transparent rules, and a vast array of stakes, making them ideal for both beginners and experienced players alike.
Top Benefits of Playing Online Poker in Thailand
Convenience: No need to travel to a physical venue — play from your home at any time.
Variety of Games: Online poker platforms offer numerous poker variants, including Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and more.
Bonuses and Promotions: Many sites provide welcome bonuses, freerolls, and daily promotions to enhance your playing experience.
Practice Opportunities: Online poker allows players to practice at low stakes or for free, helping to improve skills before entering high-stakes live events.
Live Poker Rooms in Thailand
For those who prefer the atmosphere of a physical poker room, live poker in Thailand is still possible, albeit with some limitations. Private clubs and exclusive resorts host poker events where players can compete for cash prizes. While these events often require personal invitations or membership, they provide a genuine poker experience in an intimate setting.
Cities like Bangkok have several venues where poker players can gather, though it’s important to note that players need to exercise caution and ensure that these private games are safe and reputable.
The Future of Poker in Thailand
The popularity of poker in Thailand is expected to continue growing. As the demand for poker increases, more opportunities for live poker in Thailand may emerge, especially in areas with tourism-driven demand like Phuket and Pattaya. The rise of online poker platforms also means that Thai players can join international games and tournaments, giving them access to the global poker scene.
As the landscape evolves, it’s essential for players to remain informed about the local laws regarding gambling and ensure they are playing within legal boundaries. Online poker offers a convenient and safe way to enjoy the game without the concerns of legal restrictions.
Conclusion
Whether you prefer the excitement of live poker in Thailand or the ease of Thailand online poker, there are numerous ways to enjoy poker in this vibrant country. While legal challenges exist for traditional brick-and-mortar poker rooms, online platforms provide Thai players with the freedom to compete and hone their skills in a secure, legal environment. The top 10 BEST Things to Do in Thailand with Kids
Thailand is not only a great destination for adults but it is also a lover’s paradise for parents with children. Obviously, there are numerous and diverse things to see in Thailand, be it such amazing beaches, thrilling theme parks, and much more to discover, including cultural tours for families with kids. Your children will always find interesting things to do regardless of their age – whether they are toddlers, school-going kids or teenagers. It’s indeed patented that many families deem this country suitable for an exciting vacation because of many facilities for children, historical background, and wonderful landscapes. It is actually very simple to organize a trip to Thailand, including attractions like the Thailand Visa if families want to visit this amazing country.
Here are the top 10 BEST Things to Do in Thailand with Kids
1. Visit Safari World in Bangkok
One of the most important recommendations for families with kids is Safari World located in Bangkok. It is one of the biggest animal attractions in Thailand, with a safari park where visitors can watch free ranging animals like lions, giraffe and zebras, and a marine park with shows by dolphins and sea lions.
2. Explore the Dream World Theme Park
If you are interested in checking out roller coasters, water rides and themed areas then Dream World in Bangkok is for you. 3. Spend a Day at the Elephant Nature Park
However, for those animal lovers, interested in elephants, Junior recommend visiting Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai instead. Unlike other facilities where elephants are trained to perform tricks for entertainment this is a rescue and Ghana-based sanctuary . The children will also have fun feeding and washing the elephants as they make a tour of the whole site and learn more on these friendly giants, the need to protect them.
4. Relax on the Beaches of Phuket
Family friendly beaches are Patong beach, Kata beach and Kamala beach. The waters of the beach are shallow, therefore young children can frolic in water while many of the beaches provide water activities for older children like kayaking and jet skiing. There are also a lot of opportunities for sandcastle creation as well as a great choice of seafood treats on the beach.
5. Explore the Ancient City of Ayutthaya
A day trip to the Ayutthaya historical park a UNESCO site can give kids a glimpse into this ruined civilization. The temple relics of the ancient city combined with towering statues of Buddha and historical parks. Bike around or rent a boat to take you around the site while letting your children’s creativity wander as they enjoy the Thai history.
6. Enjoy the Water Parks in Pattaya
Apart from, the city has several water parks suitable for children; Cartoon Network Amazone Water Park and Ramayana Water Park. The significant purpose of these parks is that you and your kids can spend the entire day playing on water slides, wave pools and lazy rivers.
7. Visit the Thai National Museum
For a more cultural side the Thai National Museum in Bangkok is a great choice for families. The museum offers focused exhibit on Thai history, art, and culture, which remain a good start to teach children about Thailand’s past. The museum is equipped with state-of-art programs, which are unique, informative as well as enjoyable for children.
8. Take a Boat Ride in the Floating Markets
Among them are Damnoen Saduak Floating Market which is near Bangkok and it is bright example of Thailand’s possibilities, where tourists can get fruits and vegetables and various products from boats. It is enjoyable and a very good example of the actual Thai environment suitable for the whole group.
9. Discover the Wonders of Erawan National Park
The waterfall itself can be found in the Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi. The waterfall has graduated into seven tiers and it is an interesting part for any hiker especially those with kids. Kids will embrace natural swimming pools at each level of the falls, which are fun and safe, and the water is clear, and the environment has overgrown trees.

Nestled in the vibrant city of Pattaya, Thailand, Frost Magical Ice of Siam offers an enchanting escape from the tropical heat. This sprawling attraction combines art, culture, and a magical frosty atmosphere, creating a truly unique experience for visitors of all ages. Whether you are a fan of intricate sculptures, and cultural storytelling, or just want to beat the heat in a frosty wonderland, Frost Magical Ice of Siam has something special for everyone. A Frosty Welcome in Tropical Thailand
The Frost Magical Ice of Siam is a 30,000-square-meter park divided into various zones, each offering a distinctive experience. The ice sculptures range from whimsical characters to cultural symbols and iconic Thai landmarks. Highlights include replicas of temples, elephants, and intricate patterns inspired by Thai art. Children and adults alike will delight in the ice slide, which adds an element of playful fun to the frosty environment. To make your visit comfortable, the park provides thick coats to keep you warm as you explore this icy haven.
Cultural Fusion Through Art
What sets Frost Magical Ice of Siam apart is its seamless fusion of traditional Thai culture with modern artistry. The outdoor section of the park, known as the "Siam Heaven Zone," showcases massive sculptures made from white sand, which create a stark contrast against the vibrant blue skies. These sculptures celebrate Thailand’s rich heritage and folklore, with depictions of mythical creatures, historical figures, and stories from Thai literature.
