I want more tattooed Steve that isn't directly tied to him being punk or to steddie. I think Steve should just get to have tattoos bc it is hot girl shit and he is definitely the type to pick things that are meaningful and aesthetically pleasing. He'd also love starting rumors amongst the high school about a tattoo he may or may not be hiding under his clothes once his school swimming career is over. Gives him more mystique. Tattoos were getting more and more popular during this time period, tho they weren't REALLY legal in Indiana at the time lol. He should get to be tattooed

Of course!! I’m going to take a moment from the ask I did a little while ago, which was ‘Chris’ best memories of Luna’

When she discovered his chest tattoos

“dada wat this?”

Luna and I were cuddling, her laying in my chest playing with my shirt staring at my necklace when all of a sudden she whispers and traces round the tattoos I have present on my chest. I found this so sweet of how she was so intrigued by the art work on my chest she sat in my arms hugged to my chest, foreheads touching.

Luna asks in the sweetest and most gentle way “dada wat this?” She babbles slightly as she questioned what she was looking at.

“Sunshine these are dada’s tattoos, do you like them?” I chuckled at her expression as I explained what they were.

“Wat a attoo” She once again questioned head tilted in confusion.

“A tattoo luns is a permanent piece of art that dada has on his skin, like this one that has your name on it see” I point to it after I had walked towards the mirror in the living room to show her.

“Ouna? Me dads got that for me!” She giggled as she wiggled in my arms laughing at my chest.

“Yeah that’s for Luna, for you sunshine!” I joined in on the laughter because her face was just so amazed and so adorable because I had a tattoo for her.

It was the little things that made her happy and laugh. And if one of those things are my tattoos then so be it, as she got older and after she discovered them, she traces round them when she’s anxious or sad or just not feeling okay to calm herself down as a way to self soothe. It’s just amazing what little things like that can do.

i don't think the spirit animal tattoos are just black bc i swear to god in one of the first books it said that uraza became a flash of gold just below abekes elbow or smth. i can't be bothered looking for the actual quote sorry. and also in the first book it's says khi became a black and white design on her hand. and for lisa hay she has one faded white tiger tattoo and one black tiger tattoo. so in the very least they're black and white

In relation to this discussion.

I do have the books on hand. Trawled through the first four, to get the first description of each of the Four's marks, plus looked for any description of their adult companions.

"Abeke held out her arm. With a searing pain and a brief flash, Uraza leaped to become a blaze of black just below her elbow." (p 67, Wild Born) (I believe this is the quote you're thinking of - "flash/blaze just below the elbow")

"[Meilin] held out her arm and in a flash Jhi became a design on the back of her hand." (p 75, Wild Born) (This is the Meilin quote with the "back of her hand" wording)

"Meilin focused her attention on the simple tattoo on the back of her hand." (p 85, Wild Born) ("simple" tattoo is more information than we usually get, but I don't know what exactly it means)

"With a flash, Briggan became a tattoo on the back of [Conor's] forearm." (p 197, Wild Born) (Most descriptions of spirit animal tattoos follow this format, using the word "tattoo" and mentioning body placement, then nothing else).

"Essix leaned in and became a mark over [Rollan's] heart." (p 185, Fire and Ice)

Tarik, Finn, MacDonnell, Xue and Maya's marks don't get any description of their colour or lack thereof.

Part of the discussion we had on that tattoo post was about whether this meant the tattoo of Zhosur was white- as in, white ink- or was just a tattoo of a white tiger, as opposed to a tattoo of a black tiger, which could have more of the body filled-in.

Caitlyn's first tattoo was a set of Persian Violets. Violets are one of the four top flowers that are connected to queer representation, and it was a hidden way to speak out against her mother’s determination to have her marry a man to carry on the dynasty of the kiramman house. But there is also the symbolism they are the peace when enraged and thought to have mystic powers to help calm headaches and anger. These flowers were some of the flowers Caitlyn liked to sit around in the garden when she was little and they gave her a sense of peace and calm, and they were always special to her. Because of their importance to her, she had them tattooed onto her right shoulder blade.

The second tattoo she got was the one on her chest and sternum. It is a minimalistic tattoo, of a moon with the leaves underneath her breast, and up her sternum is a set of koi fish in a yin-yang movement. It's inspired by her connection to Ionia, her family ancestry that goes as far back as she can remember.

The events with Jinx had left this tattoo pretty much destroyed, her claws had ripped into the flex and practically scarred it up. She went to a tattoo artist and got herself a new set of tattoos, to cover up the devastation of the scars Jinx had placed on her back. this was her way of taking control of her autonomy and refusing to allow Jinx's marks to maar her mindset. She didn't belong to Jinx nor did her back belong to her.

It took a whole day of work, and Caitlyn refused to leave until it was done (even though the artist had said they should take some breaks). Caitlyn stayed the whole time first having the violet tattoos removed by a special procedure and then getting her entire back done. The design was a bunch of snow leopard spots and a new black tattoo along her old black birthmark on her back. While it didn't cover up all the scars, the concept of 'less is more' worked in favor here. The scars were easily to be ignore because the spots acted liek camouflage over the scars.

aoife was born into the world of the winter court with nothing but love. she was brought up next to the high rulers, one of their cousins. the winter court was her home. it was what made her feel special. she knew that it was the only place that she'd ever wanted to give her life to, no matter what. as she grew up, she learned very quickly that if she wanted to get anywhere in life, you had to be able to stick up for yourself. aoife made sure she knew everything about everyone, about where to go, about what to do, about how to help her court. very quickly, she knew she was the person to go to if you wanted strategies or any kind of information on how to proceed with a task.

she thoroughly enjoyed helping out her court as she grew older and somehow managed to find herself in the position of 2nd in command. aoife relishes in this job, adores the power it gives her. but that doesn't stop her from sometimes second guessing herself. especially after the accident, she worries that she won't be good enough, and she won't be able to protect them from something happening again. but she'll try her damned hardest. and will fight like the devil to do it.

aoife is scrappy and she knows it. she knows that her small stature doesn't intimidate many people and that's partially how she likes it! she's got a kind nature if you're on her good side, and otherwise, she'll learn everything about you and use it against you later. adventure calls her name, all the time, begging her to get lost in the woods and try to figure out how to get out on her own. she adores any kind of thrill that she can get from anything. but when she opens up to you, she's silly and goofy, and loves anything that sounds fun.
