Every moment is a training opportunity. . Dogs want popcorn while you are enjoying an epsom salt soak? Ok! ...but they will have to work for it. . There are countless moments every day which work perfectly to teach a new behavior, work on one they already know or get in a quick obedience session. . Super 🦸🏻‍♀️ Trainer Tip: With Kayce Cover’s methods I use the name of the body part I want them to be aware of. One can say “head down” or “chin” to be more specific. Just imagine if you could ask your dog to put their left shoulder against something. Or ask your dog to hold its chin in your palm while the vet does an exam. Eventually they will be able to place their chin down on anything, anywhere, with a hand signal, from a distance (behind camera, off set). Give it a try! Less #HulkSmash! . This lesson we went back to the plastic boxes and Trisha had us try rewarding off the box. We generally reward on top of the box and in the box. Many, many cookies. This makes Han really really love boxes! So a few times off the box. . Then we move to rewarding above the box. This did help calm him down quite a bit, but still a ways to go. He has a tendency to get very excited and miss the correct box. He’s much better when he’s slow and focused. . . Super 🦸🏻‍♀️ Trainer Tip: I’ve highly enjoyed going back to the basics with Han and working on his precision with Trish. It’s incredibly beneficial to have someone watching your every move and cleaning up the sloppy. . Perhaps more importantly, the joy I see in his eyes, the way he looks up at me, you can feel the love and pure joy vibrating all around us. He’s a happy boy when he’s working with me as a team, learning and growing. To say I over-did it today is an understatement. But, we had a great Super Dog Maintenance class and Pack to Basics Social with a live video (on my personal fb page). . I got to see Rebecca today, a dear friend I’ve not seen in a few years and I got to meet her new rottie, Wyatt, who will be staying with me for two weeks starting Friday. . Wyatt and Rey met and played with Mr. Bumblebee 🐝, but it seems he ended the friendship rather quickly. . Miss Mercedes came to stay for a couple of days which means we get to prep her for being the star of her mom’s wedding in just a few weeks. 💍 👰🏼 . Now, I must sleep. Commencing zombie 🧟‍♀️ mode. . 🦸🏻‍♀️ Super Trainer Tip: Let dogs be dogs. Let them grow up playing with their best friends. Teach them all sorts of new stuff. Spend more time with them. #Babesiosis: caused by a single-celled protozoa belonging to the #Babesia family. A secondary co-infection from the saliva of the same tick that gave me #lyme. More than 100 species. Recently read that there is a new Babesia parasite 🦠 in CA and WA called WA-1. #tickbitessuck #dogtrainerdangers #weareallatrisk . Fever. Chills. Nausea. Vomiting. Muscle aches (myalgia). Joint pain. Malaise. Fatigue. Sweats. Abdominal pain. Decreased kidney function. Enlarged liver and spleen. Anemia. Low platelets. . The worst for me, the respiratory distress causing air hunger, gasping for air like you just ran a marathon, but really just walked from the couch to the kitchen. Even worse than that, the pain right between the base of my skull and C1. That’s where Babesia likes to make its home. Locks it up, and pain radiates from the back of my head forward and down past my neck. On a scale of 1-10, ten being the worst, today was an 11. Sensitivity to EVERYTHING is off the charts. This is how the day goes. So sorry to everyone who is waiting for my correspondence; hang in there, I will get back with you very soon! If you have ever wondered why my dogs are not allowed to sleep on my bed, here it is. #Queen sized bed. 190+ pounds of Rottweiler. No breathing room. That’s Han on the left. Doing his best to fit in about 10 inches of bed space. That’s Rey, laying on my tummy. Have to admit, the unexpected #DPT felt extra awesome. . . . 🦸🏻‍♀️ Super Trainer Tip: If you have a dehydrator you can make your own healthy, organic dog treats for a fraction of the cost. Super Client Patrice made dehydrated green beans for her Zoe and she loves them. Some days look a lot like this. Couch. Blanket. Fluffy pillow. Apple TV and a dog. . Wait... what!? Yes, Rey can have some snuggle privileges. She’s earned them. She’s not aggressive to any humans or animals. She’s not reactive. She loves everyone and everything. Obeys off leash without a problem, and is probably the most delightful dog I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. She’s definitely earned this privilege. . In fact, I’m teaching her to lay on my toes on command. Raynaud’s turns my toes blue, freezing, numb and painful on some level so with a command she will warm them up for me.
