I was wondering! With your sourdough, have you tried baking with it right after taking it out of the fridge and feeding it...? I want to try storing mine in the fridge soon (the growth... O.o) but I'm scared it will not be baking ready if I do that...

i haven’t!!! i actually haven’t baked with sizhui yet at all D: i have to do more research into the composition of gluten free sourdough bread before I make an attempt. so i’ll have to just keep you posted i really don’t know D:

I’m trying to grow my own starter right now and this makes me so excited haha

OMG, that IS exciting! :D I confess, I'm a simple baker, so I've never tried to do anything fancy like that, but I'm pleased with this little loaf. ^_^ I mean, I took some flour, some water, some salt, sugar, yeast and a little butter... and now I have bread! :D And that ALWAYS excites me. ^_^ Good luck with your starter! Keep me posted on how it goes? ^_^

🎵 What do you listen to while you read?

when i read? anything, nothing, everything in between. once i get to the point where i’m absorbed and can drown out, there can be tv blaring in the background, the greatest showman soundtrack or hamilton playing (things that demand to be sung along with) and i won’t hear it.  this sometimes comes back around though, if the repetition lasts long enough. i remember being on a trip in the uk with my family, head in the bottom of the car, walkman on, listening to the only cd i had with me on repeat: “hot shot,” by shaggy while i read the fifth harry potter book. those things will forever, sadly, and inextricably, be correlated in my head. i reread that book and there’s “lonely lover,” the song “it wasn’t me” pops on the radio and i’m in grimmauld place. the every boy has the fucking dvd menu from house on haunted hill (the terriwonderful 1999 movie) attached to it because if you just left it on long enough, it would play automatically after about ten-fifteen minutes without having to hit any buttons (hello, appealing to the lazy masses aka ME). so, it looped endlessly in the background while i was reading that and the association isn’t one that comes up often, but it’s fucking weird when it does. (the same thing happened with the pitch black menu on a book i can no longer remember - though i think it might’ve been one of the vampire chronicles books, and that one didn’t automatically restart so it’s just that menu). i also forgot i had tyler bates’ 300 soundtrack, just the track “goodbye my love” playing in my ears while i was reading pet sematary and, lemme tell ya, those don’t freaking go together at all, lol. and i had no idea it was playing until they starting drawing up connections to each other and i realized what i must’ve done.

writing is the total opposite, i need it to be one thing on repeat while i write otherwise i’ll actively hear it. and i have to listen to music while i write so as to not focus on inconsequential ambient noise. very few fics have one song that shaped it (though some do) most have a song per day or per scene, since i don’t usually change unless the mood shifts. i tend to favor for that kind of thing quiet, indie stuff, not a lot of lyrics (or foreign lyrics) or lyrics that i hear kind of after the music, if that makes sense?, indian summer comes to mind or all through the night or goodbye my love or falling in love at a coffee shop, that kind of genre - which is completely esoteric and based totally on what my brain decides works - is a definite go to when i can’t think of anything specific, and my other is the total opposite of the spectrum, really wordy, lyrics that are telling a story, a story that sometimes matches plot, but way more often matches tone.  taylor swift (1989 might be the best gift my writing has ever gotten - i don’t make the rules, okay, them’s just the facts), death cab for cutie, safetysuit, every band of andrew mcmahon’s (especially jack’s mannequin and andrew mcmahon in the wilderness) have a ton of options to choose from, and i love stupid to death, be alright, slip away, i’ll be good and paper crown conjure very specific atmospheres and tones for me as well. :)  so yeah PEEK BEHIND THE CURTAIN, YE MIGHTY, and regret it cos like... it’s weird back there.

Ah, cool! I just wanted to say I finished Julian's route! I somehow managed to get the upright ending?? I was so shocked tbh, I was sure I had fucked everything up and was doing the reversed ending.

okay firstly i’m so glad your first ending was an upright one bc i feel like getting a reversed the first time you’re playing through it would be Rough™

what did you think of his route? 👀 give me the #thoughts i’m here for them

Haha, I'm enjoying The Arcana so far... going through Julian's route atm,,, we'll see which ending I get O.o Also definitely influenced by your posts re: which route I decided to do first XD

yes excellent, julian is one of my faves & i loved his route so i completely endorse your choices

& oh gosh good luck w the ending, i got the upright ones the first time around and then went back to get the reversed endings bc the completionist in me wanted to see everything and oof my heart hurt

It seems to really vary?? I kinda like longer intros than just a couple paragraphs, although multiple chaps of prologue can be kind of a lot

lol no, i'd never write multiple chapters as prologue. to me, a prologue is only one thing. so if it ends up being long, at least it's just one thing, you know?
