"Well shit..." Hongjoong uttered staring at the little screen that now was stuck between the number 4 and 5.

"Yeah you could say that again... Did the elevator seriously break right now?" You muttered irritatedly.

The two of you had been out shopping for a nice evening inside watching a new tv series you had started together and eat delicious food.

Hongjoong squeezed your hand, trying to calm down his own nerves at the thought of being stuck in an elevator. You made the call to press the emergency button and let it ring until someone down at the reception finally answered.

"Hello? What seems to be the problem?" The man down at the reception asked.

"Me and Hongjoong are stuck in the elevator, we're between floor 4 and 5. Do you think you could call someone to come fix this and get us out of here?" You questioned and you could hear the person picking up another phone and making the call to the janitors office. After a while the receptionist came back to you and Hongjoong.

"I've spoken to the janitors and they will be here in about 20 to 25 minutes. They're at another complex right now fixing a leak. They're almost done and will get here as soon as they can. Try not to panic and just stay calm until then okay?"

With that the call ended and your boyfriend let out a loud groan when he realized how long the two of you had to wait for the janitors to come.

"It's gonna be fine Joongie, it's not that long I promise! Then we will be back in our apartment, in our cozy sofa with our food and snacks and tv serie." You tried cheering him up by bringing his hand up to your lips giving it a small kiss.

"I know but now my surprise for you is ruined." He whines complaining looking like a kicked puppy with his big sad eyes and pouty mouth.

"Surprise?" You questioned raising an eyebrow at him

"Yeah I had gotten a surprise for you." He sighs and instructs you to close your eyes stating that he cannot allow it to be ruined.

Hongjoong rummaged around until he found the two ice creams he had bought without your knowledge earlier. The two of you had seen them earlier last week and both had wanted to try them someday and he had hoped that today would be the perfect day to end it with eating some ice cream.

He opened your ice cream first and made sure you had a steady grip on it before opening his own.

"You can open your eyes now love." He said and his smile grew as you opened them and saw the ice cream of your choice.

"You got us ice creams!! Hongjoong!!" You couldn't believe he managed to buy them without you noticing it. You were beaming at him, elated he had bought just the flavor you had wanted to try after skimming through all of the flavors the first time you saw all of the ice creams.

"I wanted it to be a surprise for after dinner but I guess it will be a before dinner surprise." He said as he bumped his own ice cream against yours.

"Cheers!"

"Cheers!" You chuckle mirroring his action before taking a small bite out of the ice cream.

"Oh wow this is really good!" You say with wide eyes and your boyfriend just shrugs

"I think I can do better." He admits before holding his ice cream towards you with a motion asking if you wanted to try his which you do, leaning forward to take a little bite, humming in appreciation.

"Yours were great as well! And what you think you can make better ice cream than this?" You question as he tries yours, humming in delight as well.

"Well yeah, it can't be that hard to make good ice cream. Just tell me which flavors you want and I'll make it for you." He says with that slight cocky smirk on his face.

"Is this some sort of challenge towards me or do you just want my attention?" You question wondering if this was his way of saying he wants to spend more time with you doing silly stuff.

"Maybe."

"Okay then how about you make me a good blueberry ice cream and also another one which has the flavor of a mango?" You tell him.

Hongjoong nods as he finishes his ice cream, putting the stick in the bag for now. He takes some step forward so he's close. You look at him as you finish your own ice cream, no matter how many times you see him his beauty never fails to stun you.

Especially his eyes, they're always so kind and filled with so much love each time he looks at you that it almost takes your breath away.

"May I kiss you?" He asks shyly.

You nod towards him, that's another part of him that you absolutely love. He always asks if it's okay for him to kiss you before he does.

He leans in capturing your lips in a heated kiss pushing you back towards the wall of the elevator. Your arms sneak around his shoulders as the two of you enjoy the silence and the intimacy of said kiss.

After a while the two of you ended the kiss, Hongjoong resting his forehead against yours, his eyes looking at you with so much love.

"You're so beautiful you know that right? The love of my life, my inspiration, my muse." He whispered lovingly causing you to break eye contact with him for a second.

"You really have your way with words Joongie. I really adore you so much, I wish I could show that more."

"You already do my love, you showcase your love when you bake me cookies when I'm overwhelmed, you show that when you read me stories when I need to unwind after a long day at the studio, you show that when you open your arms and let me sink into your warm embrace and allowing me to be vulnerable when I need without making me feel small. You make me feel loved." He whispered quietly to you.

"You really mean that?"

"I do, every single word."

The two of you ended up sitting down cuddling together on the elevator, sharing short but blissful kisses whilst sharing sweet and loving comments towards each other. Hongjoong continued to shower you with love and you did your best to reciprocate his wonderful comments, wanting him to truly understand how much he means to you.

Eventually the two of you could hear the janitors outside working on opening the doors to get the two of you out.

"It is finally time for us to get out of this entrapment and have our cozy evening my muse." Joong said as he helped you up from your sitting position.

"Finally, I cannot wait to cuddle you whilst watching our series together."

You gave him a quick kiss before the doors opened for the two of you to get out.

You remember that back at that time, you were pretty worried

Hongjoong kept himself locked in the studio for hours, sometimes nights

You were scared he was overworking himself

But if you only knew he was stressed because he couldn't work

Not when every verse seemed to be about you

Although the experience wasn't good at all, you both might need to be grateful for that

Because that's how Hongjoong finally got sick of the situation and decided to confess at last

There’s something endearing about you that makes Hongjoong throw any kind of logic out of the window the moment you step in the room. 

He’s a shy one who would watch from the side while you interact with the other boys. He’s captivated by your charm and adorable demeanour - the way you would laugh along to a joke or be extremely focused when helping out with something. And truth be told, there’s a little twinge of jealousy only because he loves you so much.

Because when it’s just the two of you, either on the couch or at the dining table, while you’re rambling about your day or explaining something that piques your interest and makes your eyes sparkle, Hongjoong watches with the most affectionate and lovable expression. It’s a devoted kind of look, because you’re the one  who brings out that fond and tender side of him. You’re the one who makes his eyes light up with that twinkle and shimmer, and has him smiling so dotingly as he takes in your antics.

He adores holding your hand, especially if it’s just your pinky fingers interlocked and hidden from plain sight because it’s a shy acknowledgement between the two of you that you’re both there for each other. And he’s right behind you, supervising and protecting you.

You can be a little clumsy but so can he, and the tender laugh is not one of mocking but rather one of affection, that elicits a fondness and warmth of acceptance. Hongjoong dressing his little one for school and fussing over their outfit. Matching with his baby angel, proudly showing off how beautiful they are, making people compliment and appreciate the baby like they should.

Seonghwa building Legos with them, helping out when the sweetheart gets stuck or can't find a piece. Calling your name to show you what the two of them made together, proudly presenting their creation no matter what it is.

Yunho coming home with his baby adorned in Spider Man gear from head to toe. Your little one just wanted to be exactly like appa, so they had a whole day planned around Spider Man.

Yeosang helping his baby with homework, talking them through it and helping them understand everything, and comforting them when they get frustrated. He'd repeat the question a thousand times over until they understand.

San holding his bundle of joy after a nightmare. Even after they've fallen back asleep, he watches over them, making sure they sleep peacefully again, with a plush in his arms to help.

Mingi bringing his kiddo to work with him, being so proud of the being he created. He'd have his little one sit in his lap while he works, showing them everything, explaining things to them, all with the biggest smile on his face.

Wooyoung helping the little one play pranks on you, both of them laughing like devious hyenas as they run away. Telling his little kiddo how proud he is for being a little menace like him, but teaching the balance between mischief and seriousness.

Jongho spending quality time with his angel any chance he gets. Talking with them, playing with them, just spending time with his baby angel makes him happy. He wants to be there for his kiddo whenever they need, and he'll show it every day.

you stare at him for a few moments, just soaking in his presence and he seems to do the same as his body relaxes and he tilts his head slightly. a small smile falls on both of your faces.

“well, they ended up debuting me and for a while i was just wearing their pieces in shoots and where i could, they’re really nice, saint laurent picked up on it and here i am.” your smile increases as you lift your hands to gesture to yourself. “what about you?”

“same here, i’m with balmain.” he nods at you and silence falls upon both of you. not an awkward one though, more of a comforting one while you’re both away from the busy after party.

“do you want to go back in together?” you offer.

he thinks for a moment before turning the way you’re facing, “that sounds nice.”

the pair of you walk quietly to the hall the party is in, each step slower than the last before you’re at the door. you turn to hongjoong and he’s already looking at you with a soft gaze and an ever softer smile. by the looks of it he doesn’t even register what he’s doing until you do the same back to him.

“would you like me to get you a drink?” you ask quietly. you can barely hear yourself but you know he hears it because he shakes his head.

“oh, well i’ll be off then.” you take a few steps forward before you feel his hand on your wrist to pull you back.

you look back, a soft smile still of your face. hongjoong looks perplexed, like he’s unsure what to say and the small frown on his face gives that away. “do you want to sit somewhere quiet?” you knew, you always knew and he couldn’t be more thankful for it.

“come on then.” with no cameras at the party he lets go and you lock pinky’s with him. silently navigating the large room you both end up in a corner with two armchairs and a small coffee table in front. the pair of you sit in silence.

“it’s too much sometimes.” hongjoong mumbles.

“that’s ok, fashion week is really busy so coming here straight from work isn’t super fun either.” you say, leaning back in the chair.

“not only that.” he adds.

Bf Hongjoong x audhd gn reader

A/N: I myself am audhd (autistic and adhd) and I haven’t really seen much at all of ateez and nd reader stuff so I decided to write about it myself, specifically Hongjoong as he’s on of my ults. This is based around my nd habits/brain/experience, as obviously I know myself best so I draw from my own experiences, however I did try to include a bit of other nd experiences.

Hongjoong is nd in this, if you don’t like that, don’t read. (Let’s be honest, that man is most likely nd in reality anyway)

Fuck that’s a lot of writing. Onto the actual content:

• He’d silently notice when your brain is completely scattered and you just can’t think of what you’re meant to be doing. He’d come over and ask what you’re trying to do and then direct you on what steps to do to achieve it. You know the steps, but your brain just can’t sent them out. (with demand avoidance idk if this would work for everyone, but ik for me this is basically a love language)

• Throughout the day he’d ask if you’ve been eating and drinking, softly reminding you to if you haven’t. Or if you have decision paralysis he’d bring up the list of your safe foods he has on his phone and suggest some

• He’d always carry a spare pair of charged noise cancelling headphones with him, even when you’re not with him (he probably needs them too, I’m 99% sure that man is neurodivergent) he’d have them for you in case yours die or you forget them

• He’d always appreciate it so much when you check if he’s eaten and drank water as well, even if he doesn’t necessarily express it, because he forgets to a lot

• He’d know most if not all of your safe songs, have a playlist of them on his phone for if you need to listen on his phone for whatever reason

• Music is 100% both of your shared special interest. You’re always sharing songs with each other and singing together

• One day he asks if you want to see how he makes music. You gladly accept and so he takes you to his studio and starts showing you how he makes beats, how to put the song together, his recording process. He infodumps and gets so goddam excited to show his favourite person one of his favourite things ever. It just makes you so happy to see him so ecstatic taking about his special interest

• The look he gets on his face when you’re infodumping about your special interest to him makes your heart melt. It’s so so so loving, because he’s seeing his favourite person at their happiest, feeling completely safe unabashedly sharing their favourite thing with him

• He’ll sometimes see you nesting with all your soft toys when you’re in sensory overload, and he thinks it’s the cutest goddam thing ever

• You’ll both occasionally come home to the other person having cleaned a significant part of the house (usually the bedroom) because dopamine dopamined

• I feel like he would know he’s nd but wouldn’t actually know heaps about it, like the traits of it, and what it means for a person in their everyday life and how their brain works, so he’d learn so much about it from you, always willing to try to understand you better, and never telling you that you don’t have certain traits/diagnoses simply because he hasn’t done the research (lol not me trying to heal myself through this post)

• You’d pick up stims from the other members, just from random things they’d do or say, not even necessarily them stimming, but their stims as well (Seonghwa I’m looking at you). Hongjoong would jokingly get jealous that you’re not picking up his stims. You do though, ALL THE TIME. One of you gets a new stim and suddenly for the next 2 weeks that’s all that’s happening around the house, whether it’s vocal stims or physical stims

• You guys find it so difficult to be in social situations and often get anxious when you’re not with each other in social situations. Which gets really difficult for Hongjoong cos of his job, but your shared special interests and stims gets him though it usually.

• When you guys are together in social situations you are glued at the hip, never leaving each other’s side; you’re both each others safe place

• HJ already isn’t fond of physical touch but when he’s in sensory overload he can’t stand someone being even a little too close to him. You’re his safe place, safe person, but if he’s too overstimulated he will go into shutdown if you come to close. You learned this early on from experience and you now know what his stims and behaviour are when he’s overstimulated and know to give him the space he needs, which he appreciates infinitely. He loves you even more for it and you will always do it for him because you love him

• On that same idea, he will come to learn what your sensory issues are, and what triggers them, what your behaviour and stims look like when you’re in sensory overload and what to do to help you best. He just wants you to feel like he understands you and wants you to know he respects and loves you for your nd, not in spite of it

• You both aim to best understand each other’s neurodivergence and respect it and it brings so much love to your relationship
