Hi Queen!

Okay so I was curious about, now that we are getting more anuby scenes, how women (wives, daughters, granddaughters, nieces, etc) were treated in Ancient Egypt. Like we already established how they were seen in Ancient Greece so I was really curious about Ancient Egypt. So I did some research (on reputable sites that actually have historical data so don’t worry✨)

And I found out that they actually had so many more rights than like anywhere else in the world at the time and even some parts of the world today.

Like basically the run down Google and these articles gave me since I don’t have the space to go deep into it like I did before (don’t judge I’m like super bored rn and am just re-reading previous Arsenic Blues chapters now😂😂) is that based on their social status and occupation most women in ancient Egypt were treated with the utmost respect.

Because Egyptians believed in ma’at, which means harmony, peace, and stability in all areas of life. It also meant equality in all aspects of life. So basically women had equal legal rights as men (so they could own property and laws that applied to men also applied to women). Also a woman’s social standing didn’t depend on her gender but rather the class she was born into and usually women of higher social standing married within their own class rather than below or above it.

Furthermore, women could have multiple jobs in Ancient Egypt and weren’t just regulated to housekeeping, mothering, or strictly domestic pursuits. They could be scribes, physicians, teachers, etc.

The only thing I did notice in similarity with Ancient Greece and other societies that seemed to be the same was that they were still considered the property of their husbands and fathers and were also judged on their ability to produce sons.

Like the more sons a woman had the more respected she was in society, while a woman with only daughters or more daughters than sons was seen as being lesser and not as respected. And if they were barren, then that was the group of women that were respected the least.

And so that got me to thinking (this is just a theory idk if u actually made this the reason or not) that maybe that’s why Anubis and Anput are no longer together?

Like I know Anubis loves his daughter and how could he not she is such a sweetheart💕🥺 but like if Anput could only give him a daughter she might have lost his (or if not his then the rest of the pantheon’s) respect.

Just a theory of course ik we’ll find out their deal later on in the story

Another thing tho, that I’m really curious about is how this might relate to his relationship w Percy. Like obviously their married now so she is, in his mind and that of the rest of the Egyptian pantheon once they find out, his property but I also feel like he respects her more than say Hades, just like, as an individual.

Not enough to tell her the truth of what’s going on or even get her permission to marry her but enough that he sees her as an individual capable of thinking for herself as is shown when he doesn’t patronize her like Hades, Apollo, and Poseidon do.

Although if barren women are looked down upon in Ancient Egypt and the amount of sons u have equals how much respect u earn, I am curious how Anubis will feel and/or take it when they start having sex but Percy doesn’t fall pregnant (cause she’s going to Aphrodite😏 each time to prevent that) or I wonder if he’ll just attribute it to her being half human and be like “wait till she ascends” for babies 😭.

So like, if being a vampire stops you from aging, does that mean Sylas’s silver streaks were... manually put in. Did Sylas go “i want to be a silver fox and no “lack of aging” is going to stop me", and then sit in his bathtub to dye his hair? This is great, I love this so much. Hell yeah.

overall:

- fuck, i really do like the combat with VM in this show. i think the tendency to have... everyone other than them brutally murdered makes me more leery of everyone else in combat, but seeing the VM in combat is always so good. so many character details. so nice to watch.

- i am trying very hard not to harp on about this but- *deep deep sigh* romance is. a tricky thing to communicate in shows. i get that. limited runtime, you gotta be a bit more heavyhanded with how you distribute Meaningful Interactions and dialogue space. but. buuuuuuuut. i do wish i could tweak the conversation ratios just a little. just a tiiiny bit. that said, i do understand why they’re paired the way they are.

- Pike is SO good holy shit I adore her. Fuck. Wow. Her arc, the blend of aggression and optimism and touch of crassness, her interactions- oh wow. Adore her, honestly.

-- Addendum to this- I really like the throughline of the two characters with some level of anxiety about their magic working + their worthiness of it/ability to wield it just being. Fucking incredibly powerful when things line up. (Keyleth and Pike specifically).

- <3 friendships within the VM my beloved.

Random headcanon: His favourite colour is purple hands down. He is trans, gay, and ace depending on how I'm feeling. Once Gwen becomes queen he deliberately gets into loaded political arguments with annoying nobles just to win them by saying well my sister's the queen and running off. He is good at a lot of things, but cooking is not one of them. He is the entire castle's resident bug guy, a servant finds a spider at 2am on the other side of the castle? They tell the nearest guard to fetch Sir Elyan. He has innatentive type ADHD. He is a YOUNGER sibling and i will die on this hill.

Unpopular opinion: He is flat out the best knight and not just in an exclude him and i kill you way. Like he doesn't have a big defined 'thing' that he is like the others do (like lance is honourable knight, gwaine is the flirty one, leon is the mum one, percy is Arm), and if i was being EXTREMELY generous that could be why people tend to overlook him (u know that's not it tho) but I'd argue it makes him a way better character like for the amount of screentime he got he has so many dimensions he has such an interesting backstory, wardrobe, relationships, motivations... just. HIM

Ok, imagine if time passed slower in ror!universe or Percy just spent enough years in ror!universe for pjo!Sally passed away(maybe like in epic the musical, by a broken heart, or other reasons) and finally arrived home, thrilled to see her mom, but gets the news that her mom passed away, she begs to go to the underworld to see her last time, even if it's just for a few minutes. (In epic the musical, what the dead are saying is their last thoughts, so Odysseus mom/pjo!Sally was thinking abt Odysseus/Percy in her last moments) (what would actually happen is maybe her mom gets revived or they at least hug unlike in epic the musical but shh)

i was originally contemplating about having the time in ror verse be slower or faster than the pjo verse, but i changed my mind cuz i didn't want percy to miss out on the fun of being tortured by hoo events :D

ok now back to sally,

you know how only really good souls can go to elysium? like, ppl who died a heroic death or "lived a good life" (according to the wiki). well, i always got confused on that, did good life just mean be a decent person?? cuz that seems like a decent good ppl would just end up in the fields of asphodel. i feel like for mortals to go to elysium, they would've needed to die heroically or lived their life impacting the world in a positive way, and sally would definitely fit the bill!!!

BUT LETS SAY SHE DIDN'T. she did a lot of good things, but not really good enough to leave an impact (which is so untrue lol), BUT LETS SAY HADES COMES IN CLUTCH AND SENDS HER TO ELYSIUM ANYWAY (cuz he's a tsun tsun)

and because he's such a tsun tsun, when percy finally gets her ass back to the pjo verse, he allows her some time to see her one last time before giving a proper goodbye 🥺 percy's saddened, but she knows 10000% that she'll see her mom again in elysium when she dies 🥺🥺🥺

realistically, if enough time has passed, EVERYONE percy cares about would probably be dead cuz gaea rose to power and she wasn't there to take part of the quest to take her down. idk what'd happen to hades, but imagine returning home and realizing everyone you care about was dead, YOU COULD'VE PREVENTED IT, and there's no way to see them because hades probably got fucked over too when gaea rose 💀
