Every day you wish you could do more. More for Charles. More for him. But the harsh sun eats away at you. You weren’t built for this heat.
You were meant for gardens. For Eden.
But you think… as your fingers trail through the earth, your life force flowing down into the greenery below - if something can grow here, in the desert - then maybe, so can hope.
Tumblr media
Logan finds you in the garden.
It's generous to call it that. Carved out with old bits of metal, used like a spade. Scraping through dirt, packed and hard from the burning sun. Dust swirling around you - catching under your nails that are as tough as bark.
The only bit of green for a couple miles, at least. Incongruous to the climate - all you can see is desert around you.
It's only you that keeps it alive.
Your hands pass over each stalk and stem. The low thrum that used to come so easily, siphoning your life force to the roots below, comes slowly now.
Used to be able to make things bloom, just by feeling.
A garden had sprouted your first night together. Blooming lush - vines twining around the bookshelves. Wildflowers in your hair. Moss spreading out across the wooden floor, out and into the mansion.
Everyone had known you were in love.
It feels so long ago now. Another lifetime.
Now you can only tend them. You’re at your strongest in the rain, but it’s day twenty-three of sunny, blue skies. No more than a wisp of a cloud on the horizon.
It leaves you wilting. A half-broken lawn chair, dragged to face the packed-dirt road. Watching for him, as your face tips up to the sky. A slowly-recharging battery, one that hasn't been full in years.
But the sun is unforgiving. The tips of your fingers and toes darken - it's too much.
And not enough.
An eye cracks open, with the slam of a car door. There's a limp to his gait - a hand braced against the limo. Something you notice immediately. The way it takes him longer than usual to reach you.
That severe frown softening at the edges, but still holding a weight he's carried for years. A brown bag held out silently, the top crumpled from his fist.
Your fingers brush his, and you know he can see the burn. The mark between his eyebrows deepens.
"Don't push too hard, blossom," Logan rasps, "'Bout time to go in."
It makes your jaw grit, as you bristle.
You want to protest. Ask him "well, what in the hell do you think you're doing/?" He's the last person that should be lecturing you, as he shifts - a crimson glint of red near his collar.
But you don't. He doesn't mean it that way.
It comes out wrong, you've learned that by now. Misplaced anger - seeping into your roots like poison. Loving him so fiercely that it aches, to see him this way.
The Logan you knew and loved changed that day at the mansion.
"I will." You tamp the feelings down, burying them with the rest, "Let me get these started, and I'll be in."
He lingers, for a long moment.
You rip the seed packets open, scattering them across the earth you've prepared. Essentials, fit to feed Charles.
Carrots, beans, tomatoes, onions. Kale and fresh berries.
A packet of wildflowers.
There's a lump, lodged in your throat. You look over your shoulder, just as he disappears inside.
An inhaled breath, as you begin.
He knows you hate it, all the dust. The heat.
Knows you stay, for him.
Logan always was your sun.
Tumblr media
"He's bleedin' again." It's muttered out, in greeting.
Caliban's eyes flick towards the back door, "Don't know if I've got enough peroxide to get it out."
Your smile is weary, "We'll figure it out. Always do."
A fine pair the two of you make. Only the mornings and evenings spent together, in your slow rotation of work-Charles-eat-sleep, and always just out of sync.
He tends to the smelting plant. An attempt at keeping things in place, keeping things running. Something simmering on the makeshift stove, as you empty your apron into the sink.
Outside is your domain - days spent with wind-whipped skin. The desert heat surrounding you.
"Could use some potatoes," Caliban offers, without thinking.
Peeling back the husk and silk on an ear of corn, fished out. Peering down at the kernels beneath - still hesitating, even though it's clean.
Your arms cross over your chest, head tilting, "Well, you're welcome to ask him."
It all comes out hushed, even though you know Logan is out with Charles. He gives shoots a reproachful look your way - he's already taken an earful. Doesn't need another from you.
He's been with you both for a year now. A second set of hands, as the seizures worses. You hadn’t wanted to admit you needed help - but Logan had saw right through you.
Charles’s space feels like a tomb.
Each minute you spend in that dome makes you crave another five outside. Too much for you to handle alone - something that still eats away at you.
Never felt like you were doing enough.
Carried the others with you, as he did. The shame of feeling like you should've done more. That you should have been there with them.
Buried beneath the rose bush that bloomed, when you had first told Logan you loved him.
You had thought that he had been. Had spent two years adrift, so certain he had been lost. That adamantium had not been enough to suppress the force of the seizures - that it ripped through the metal and took him from you.
It's why you cling now. Worried. Seeing how each day changes him, like it does you.
It's why you grow the vegetables for them. Even then, it's not enough. The suppressants they released still worked its way into the water and soil. You'd already ingested enough food to have it affect you.
Used to eat for fun, for pleasure. Haven't had a bite in two years now. Haven't needed to, haven't wanted to. Looking to the sun instead, even if it burns.
Now, you're just maintaining. Trying not to worsen, trying your best to keep them afloat, even if it costs you.
"Sorry." You mutter.
Easing into the routine of ladling out bowls. Chunks of half-stale bread, from the last time he baked. Hadn't harvested as much wheat this season as you would have liked. Pests chewing up a portion before you noticed.
The drought makes you hazy. Running on fumes for a while now. Same as all the rest.
Two bowls set on a plastic tray. A glass of tepid water in a chipped mason jar tucked in the crook of your arm. Fingers swirling in the liquid to cool them, before you're tilting it back - taking a swallow. Just managing to ease your parched throat.
"How is he?" You ask.
Caliban's eyes are slow to meet yours. He looks at you like he knows something you don't. Few secrets between you, except ones like these that he keeps deep. It always sends a twist in your belly.
Curling vines, weaving between your ribs.
"Logan or Charles, dearest?"
"Both." You sigh, "Either."
“Logan is… well. You saw him.” Caliban mutters. His nose twitches. A breath - as if he means to say something.
He falls silent instead, pivoting, “And Charles still thinks he's in Macbeth."
It makes your heart lurch, how so kind and sound a mind had changed. Not his fault and it only makes you love him more, after everything.
Been asking about someone named Erik lately, too.”
You and Logan had agreed. It was better that Charles didn’t know, if he didn’t have to. That the two of you would bear it - shielding him like he had shielded so many for years.
But it never made the memories any easier.
His head inclines towards the trays, "You want me to take those out?"
Caliban knows you hate it.
You know the sun is still setting, sitting golden on the horizon.
A shake of your head, as the tray tucks under your arm.
“Thanks, Cal. I've got it."
Tumblr media
The music comes first - 60s-era jazz, floating through the opened door. Voices come after, as you step into the shadows.
“-sorrow words, the grief that does not speak," Charles's reciting pitches louder, as his chair wheels in front of you, "Knits up the o-er wrought heart and bids it break-”
Logan stalks after, reaching for the controls.
"Enough."
"Thrice the brinded cat-"
The tray clatters on the top of an old desk. You step in front of them, arms spread wide, "Charles."
The chair halts, going still.
Something scrapes at your brain, when his hazy eyes meet yours. Fingers sifting through files. A dealer skillful hands, l shuffling through cards - snapping them back into place.
Plucking old memories from you like weeds. Dragging them to the surface, long buried.
He doesn’t mean to.
Doesn’t even know he’s doing it.
Your breath coming in a ragged gasp, eyes meeting Logan's. He doesn't need Charles powers to know what you're thinking.
Afraid that he'll see. What he’ll remember.
"Come on." Logan is hoisting him out of his chair. A grunt as he struggles, near dead-weight in his arms, “Enough poking around.”
Depositing Charles in his hospital bed, the last golden rays of sun streaking across the worn blankets. Logan just starts to move away, when a hand fists in his dark tie, dragging him close.
"You're not listening to me. No one listens to me." The words almost seem lucid, with how sharp his eyes suddenly shine, "Liberty, Logan. They're waiting for you. Eden-“
"No one is waiting for me." It's barked out.
Uneasy, tipping towards harsh.
Logan's patience has always ran thinner than a knife’s blade. It's love that keeps him here, you know that as well as you know your own name.
You have to step between them to break the connection. Hand wrapping around Charles' wrists - soothing, easing them down into his lap - as Logan fishes a bottle out of his pocket.
Slipping a needle into his arm. It's fluid, how you move together. Easier to help him together, then when you're alone.
It soothes the seizures. Thoughts slipping between his fingers, as he settles. The anger with it, as you bring dinner over to them. Your hand extended to take the pills that Logan shakes from a bottle.
"Take these, Professor." You coax, handing over a stained mug from the attached tray.
The chalky pills disappear, with the tilt of his head and a swallow of weak tea. Only then does it feel like you breathe. Letting your fingers drift across the makeshift herb garden he has sitting on the desk, something you tend together.
Eyes closing, as you concentrate. Pink petals blooming, plucked from the stem, and placed in Charles' open palm.
Logan's gaze a heavy weight - too tired from the day - you could already hear it in his voice. In the slow shift of his weight, as he eats.
"Only one?" The wizened fingers close like a cage around the flower, "You’ll have to work harder, Crescere."
The name is one that you haven't heard in years. It ricochets through you like a bullet, threatening to rip you open. You must show it in your face - a hand reaches to smooth down your back.
It soothes you, until an edge creeps into Charles's voice.
"If you cannot do more, how will you ever survive without soil?"
Logan goes stiff at the words. Breaking contact as if he'd been burned. A rough tilt of his head, as he pushes himself up.
“I’ll be inside.” It’s gritted out, through clenched teeth.
Leaving you alone, perched on the edge of Charles’s bed.
His mood already shifting, as it often did. The anger and confusion flaring. Melding with the medication that slows his tongue, dulls his thoughts.
“Crescere,” His eyes fix on you, while you watch the door creak shut. The moonlight has just started to stream in now, and it's just dark enough to imagine a breeze, “Have I told you about Eden?”
You tuck him in. The worn quilt tugged up high against his chest. A fingers smooth down to wrap in his - his hands frail with age, but his grip is still strong.
Tears prick your eyes, but you smile - your hand gently squeezing.
“Tell me again.”
Tumblr media
His fingers fumble with the buttons. The black tie tugged loose, hanging against his chest. A hiss of breath, as sore shoulders roll. The dress shirt caught against his bicep, the sleeves still pushed up around his elbows.
There’s a hand against his shoulder. Your fingers slipping beneath the fabric, easing it down his arms.
“You gonna stop running from me?”
It’s soft, in the room that you share. A far cry from the mansion - all cozy, stained wood. Home.
Here, it’s sheet metal. Car batteries running a broken coffee maker, blankets stained with sweat. An industrial fan, slowly spinning where it’s mounted into the wall.
Wasn’t trying to run.
Just couldn’t shoulder your hurt, knowing he caused it himself. Knows that the heat eats away at you. Has watched how you struggle, though you hide it so well.
And the open seas - the sun and the salt water - would it be enough? Could you ever be happy, away in a place like that?
You’ve told him all you need is him. But pretty thing like you should be somewhere else.
Somewhere safe.
Knew he was too old for you, even back at the mansion - and that was when his hair was just starting to grey at the temples.
Now, he wishes he could convince you to go. Even if he couldn’t live without you.
But he knows your answer. That set of your jaw. Rooting you in place, unmoving.
It flickers in you here, as your arms wrap around him. Nose buried against the nape of his neck, as he exhales a breath that he’s held all day.
His muscles going lax as he leans into your embrace - letting you move him. Touch gentle as you guide him towards the bathroom. Fitting between spread thighs as he leans against the cracked counter, your fingers tracing the red-stained rips on the white tank beneath.
A cloth, wrapped tightly around his fist.
“Running to you,” Logan husks, “Just lost my way.”
You soften before his eyes.
Unwinding the wrappings to check the wound across his palm. Your lips pressed against scar tissue. Moving to backs of his knuckles, between the angry red slits.
Something in his chest lurches. Calming the beast, as his palm cups your cheek. Letting you lead him into the old ceramic tub, even though the space was narrow.
Lets you strip him down, knowing your eyes flicker over each scar. Looking for ones you missed, though you know them all.
Already knows what you’re going to say, when your gaze catches on the still-healing wound - a bullet beneath his collarbone. In his chest, through his bicep.
“Can’t keep taking hits, baby.” You fingers trace just shy of the wounds. Blood flaking, where he hadn’t washed well enough - two days spent in a shitty motel, each one thinking of you.
Need to shield yourself. Pick your battles.
He’s heard it all before.
Tried to earlier - wanted to gut the Alkali-Transigen fucker who had climbed into his limo. He is trying, even if it doesn’t seem like it.
All he got was a business card burning a hole in his pocket. A lie of omission like a lead weight in his belly.
Another tucked against his chest - the bullet nestled in the pocket of his shirt. Resting against his heart while he drives. Hidden, when he returns home.
It’s insurance - but it would still crush you to find it.
“I’ll ease up when you do.” He counters, though his voice softens, “Pushing too hard, sweetheart. We could stand to eat less, if you need a break.”
You sigh, as you lean into him. Face muffled against his chest, and he only just catches the words.
“When I used to imagine playing house with you,” You breathe, “I always thought it would be a little different.”
It makes his heart jolt.
Something tearing inside him, as his mouth presses against yours. A hand searching to turn the handle - the water stale. A weak spray that only reaches room temperature.
But it’s enough.
You wash the red from him. Swirling down the drain as you coat the washcloth with a sliver of soap. Careful in your movements, as your hair dampens.
As his hands catch at your hips, looking for an anchor.
A little huff when you fingers twirl - when he has to let go, to turn around. Soaping up his back, fingers raking through his hair.
The stress of the day sluices from him. Melts away as your lips press against his back, trailing across his shoulders. Nails tracing against his abdomen, as he leans into your touch.
It’s always been softer than he deserved.
And when your hand drifts lower, swirling soap against the dark trail of hair that leads down, he guides your hand the rest of the way.
A throb, at the soft inhale of your breath. Fingers that close around him, coaxing him to full hardness. His own scrape against the tile, as he props himself up.
Eyes half-lidded, as you nuzzle against his scars. Fist working him from root to tip - he can’t resist bucking into your touch.
His own hand wandering. Hesitant.
Afraid he won’t find you the same.
Reaching behind him, feeling the stretch of healing muscle and sinew as he cups the curve of your ass. A held breath loosened, when he hears the needy sound you make, when his fingers slip to trace between.
Teasing, drifting down to where you’re slick. Honeyed.
Always for him. Only for him.
His eyes fully shut now, as his fingers work inside you. Feeling the clench, the way your hand stutters.
Your breathing turning harsh, panting. His name whined out as your hand dips to cup him - the pressure coiling low in his belly. Hips nudging against his as he pets at your clit, smearing your skin with your need.
Turning, when he isn’t able to take it any longer. Always would be strong enough to do this - to hitch your thigh around his hip.
Lifting you enough to rub his flushed cock against your folds. Your nails biting red marks into his shoulders as he lines himself up-
The water cuts off.
The evenings rations depleted.
Your laugh is more of a whine than anything, but it’s still a sound he treasures.
His own lips curving, and it feels like the first time in days.
The words rasps out, coated with need.
“Let me take you to bed, honey.”
Tumblr media
His skin is still damp when he lays you down.
Nestling you against the pillows - ignoring your soft protests of needing to take care of him, as he seeks out the honey between your thigh. Hands tracing up your leg, calf to knee. Up against smooth skin, until he can hitch one over his shoulder.
Letting him bury himself deeper. Tonguing at your clit. Down to dip inside you, a rough groan against your skin as his hips rut into the mattress.
He had you close already. You always unfurled for him, and that hadn’t lessened with his age. Automatic, in the way his fingers fit inside you, finding the spot that has your back arching as you cry out.
Stroking against it again and again, a groan caught in his throat as your fingers twist into his hair and tug.
Logan’s name a soft cry as he tastes you sweeten against his tongue. The tight pulse around his fingers, echoing where his lips shift to suck against your clit.
It’s only when you reach for his wrist does he stop, content to spent the night right here if you’d let him - make up for the time spent away.
Only then does he relent. His arm stretching out behind the pillows as he finally lays back, the tug of a smile as he watches you.
There’s a sweetness about you - all limp-limbed as your thigh lifts across his waist. Straddling him, as you lean - tugging supplies out of the end table.
Squirming, as his head lifts - unable to help mouthing at your breasts. A heady throb down low when he can feel your heart kick up a notch.
Always doing things out of order.
Each shift of your hips rubs your pussy against his cock. Slick and wet and warm, and he catches the curve of your lips.
The slow rhythm, as you pack padding against his wounds. Affixing tape to his skin, a kiss placed against one - as if it would help them heal faster.
His look heated, and he knows you feel it too. The hitch of your hips. The pressure when you grind down - your eyes blown dark when you look at him from beneath your lashes.
He can give you what you need.
A grunt, as a hand grasps at your hips. The loose supplies slipping from his abdomen, as he coaxes you into your knees.
His other hand wrapping around the base of his cock, tilting his hard length up to rest against your belly.
“Need you.” It’s gritted out.
On another day he might have swallowed it down. Let you come to him.
But right now, he can’t take any more teasing, wrapped in your soft touch. He’s already resisting the urge to drive into you, as you angle him against your opening.
The slightest pressure, as you start to give around him - opening up. And when you finally sink down flush against him, he forgets himself.
It’s now and it’s six years ago - all those evenings spent, entwined.
Fitting together, watching the way your brow still pinches as your body makes room to take him - the stretch as your hands curl into fists against his chest.
“Missed you, sweetheart.” It slips from him, when your hips fully meet his.
It only makes you squeeze more tightly around him, his breath caught in a low rumble in his chest.
Your own admission, as you dip down to kiss him, “Missed you more.”
Finding himself transfixed, in spite of the weariness. The ache in his bones that are now a part of him are forgotten in the way you watch him.
Eyes half-lidded, as you find your balance. Starting a slow grind of your hips, a look thrown his way when you feel his muscles string tight beneath you.
The lightest pressure of your palms against his chest, careful of his wounds.
“Want to make you feel good.” It’s a command, tinged with permission. It’s woven with love, and the thought of taking matters into his own hands ebbs.
“Always do, sweetheart,” Logan husks, “Every fucking time.”
Letting himself settle back against the mattress. Losing himself in the tight grip of your pussy. Your soft curves, as his hands wander.
Squeezing the soft flesh of your ass, urging you to ride him harder. Slipping up to tease at your tits, an upward flex of his hips when you cry out his name.
You once told him that you wanted him the first moment you met him. Now, he wishes he had met you sooner.
A year. A day. Even a minute.
The thought pulses in his chest, in time with his heart. Fingers skating over skin as you ride him. A flash of white when he thumbs against your clit, giving you something to grind against.
You’re molten around him. Soft and sweet and it’s all he can do to match the way you bounce on his cock. Feet planting against the bed to help can meet you, urging himself just that little bit deeper.
Melting just a little bit further, when you can’t help but lean down - needing his mouth against yours.
Flattening yourself against his chest, as your rhythm goes needy. Sloppy grinds instead of the sharp slap, taking him deep and keeping him there.
His thumb swirls, and your ragged moan breaks the kiss. Head dipping as you lean back - hips chasing your pleasure, rocking into his familiar touch.
Can smell how much you need it. How you drip around his cock, the coarse hairs matted with your desire.
Teeth clenching, and it only makes him fuck to harder into you, to loosen your tongue.
“Logan, fuck-” It’s whimpered, in that pretty tone that he loves, “Think I’m gonna come-”
The leash he grasps onto slipping between his fingers. A low heat in his belly burning brighter, a pressure ticking down with each slap of his hips.
“Know you’re close. Let go, baby. So fucking good for me-”
Something rasped out, as you flutter around his cock. Taking him deep, spearing him into your belly.
“Fuck, I can feel you coming on my cock.” It comes out ragged, his breath catching, “Gonna make me come, too-”
Your gaze is dark. Hands pressing harder against his chest as you find yourself again, riding him harder. Panting through it, as it tips towards too much - your orgasm still burning brightly.
He's surrounded by you, and he only wants more. Fingers pinching into your hips, driving himself into you.
“Wanna make you come,” You breathe, “Want to feel you tomorrow-”
It’s enough that he forgets himself. A hands tight against your hip, a sharp tug that pulls you flush. The other curls around the back of your neck as he flips you beneath him.
Your gasping laugh pairs with his snarl. An arm hooking under your knee - pushing, opening you up as he holds you in place.
Watching how your eyes glaze. Following the tug of your fingers, bringing his mouth down to yours. Your pulse thundering beneath his thumb, as his tongue licks into your mouth.
He tastes like you, as his eyes slip shut. You linger on his lips, smeared across his beard. A ragged moan as your hips lift to meet the sharp smack-smack-smack of his hips, and then his vision is going hazy.
Your name snarled out, twining with soft sentiments. Hilting himself just as the pressure reaches its peak, his cock throbbing as he spills with a growl inside you.
The tension easing with each flex of his hips, fucking himself empty into your warmth. Into your embrace, your arms wrapping around and keeping him close. The scruff of his beard scrapes your cheek, but you only hitch a thigh around his hips - nudging him deeper.
Logan would stay here forever, buried in you, if he could. It slips from him, then - rasped low into your ear.
“Fuck, I love you.”
He should tell you more often. Would tell you every day, if not for the guilt that twists in his guts each time you say it back.
But tonight, he can only lean into it. The soft whisper, as your lips drag against his cheek. You say it just like you used to. It still comes just as easily.
“I love you too, Logan.”
And when his breathing settles and his eyes open - his chest catches.
You're adorned with your devotion - hair dotted with alyssum. Forget-me-nots and primrose dappled across your shoulders, yarrow and heather blooming around your curves.
Had learned the names of them, long ago. They come back, as his fingers trace over each bloom.
You’re beautiful.
But you always have been.
Prettiest goddamn thing he’s ever seen.
Tumblr media
He bites harder, when he’s wounded.
No more than a cornered animal. But the anger - it takes a hold on him. Leaving him to soften, when there’s a hand he knows.
Making words slip from him that he’d tuck inside, on a different day.
“I do it for you, blossom.” It comes out quiet, in the darkened room, “You know that right?”
You shift against his shoulder. Head cradled against his chest, ear pressed to his heart.
“We do it for Charles,” You breathe, half-asleep. Fingers splaying across his sternum, tracing against the dark whorls of hair.
His own brush over petals. Used to help pluck them from you, after stolen moments during missions. Would love the way your face screwed up - a soft veil of embarrassment washing over you. His own lips pulled in a smug smile, as he had tucked one behind you ear.
Logan huffs, the sound low. Almost a laugh.
“I keep going for you.”
His heart would keep beating for a long time, but he thinks it would stop if yours did.
You press yourself tighter against him. It’s mumbled against his skin, “Keep going for you, too.”
There’s salt against his skin, tears you can’t afford to shed. Silent, as the stars creep higher in the sky above you.
Should be out driving, right now. Can’t bring himself to leave.
So he holds you, until your breathing slows. Until the tension eases once again, sleep taking you.
You never were afraid of him. Only for him.
Never hesitated to crawl into bed beside him, even with his nightmares. Can still remember your insisting.
Clip the stem of the flower, and the bloom will fade. Skewer it though, and it will grow around it - oozing golden ichor until it heals.
It's supposed to be a comfort.
But Logan doesn’t know how to tell you that he’s afraid that he plucked you from the earth, long ago.
You just haven’t realized it yet.
Tumblr media
Logan finds you in the garden.
Charles is out with you today. Tucked beneath the afternoon shadows of the smelting plant. He would laugh - does laugh - at your excuse of a garden. It pales in comparison to the mansion. The old ivy that crawled up the walls, across the sprawling grounds.
You laugh with him, because - what else is there to be done?
The sound dies, as the limo comes back early. A hand shades your eyes, as he steps out.
Still weary, though not as much as yesterday. Worry set in the lines around his eyes the grit of his jaw.
The reason revealed, when he steps to the side. A girl, stumbling out of the back seat of the limo.
Her eyes are feral, and there’s something so familiar about her that it steals your breath.
“Crescere.” Charles breathes - more lucid than you’ve seen him in days, “That is Laura. She’s the mutant I told you about. The one we have to help get to Eden.”
And for a moment, he’s the Charles he was a decade ago. The one you would have followed to the end.
Something blooms in your chest, at the sight of the girl.
The mutant, when there hasn’t been a new one in so long. A tight knot unfurling inside you, and it feels like a new beginning.
It feels like hope.
Tumblr media
and then they all left to find Eden together and nothing bad ever happened again! 😌💖 I'm heading back to Trouble Will Find Me and Come On And Show Me after this, just was struck with this idea and wanted to explore it! thanks so much for reading!!

Tumblr media
Morning breaks with the first faint light creeping through the cracks of your blinds, and the relentless scratching at the door finally ceases. Exhausted but relieved, you uncurl from your spot on the floor, where you spent the night huddled with Sybil. Her breathing is steady now, though a quiet whine escapes her occasionally. You gently stroke her white fur, matted with dirt and dried blood from the night’s violent encounter.
You rise cautiously, the movement tugging at the pain in your ankle. Sybil stirs beside you, lifting her head as if sensing your intent. Before focusing on her, you steal a peek through the blinds. The street below lies empty, no sign of any lurking danger. Then you check outside your apartment door, and there too, it's empty.
Reassured for now, you bend down, wrapping your arms around Sybil and lifting her up with a pained grunt. The adrenaline that had fueled you the night before has vanished, leaving only raw, trembling determination. Step by agonizing step, you make your way down the stairs, each descent slow and labored, every creak of the wood magnifying the weight of your exhaustion.
The shop is unrecognisable.
Shelves that once held carefully labelled jars and vials are toppled, their contents spilled across the floor in a kaleidoscope of shattered glass and stained herbs. Your cauldron lies overturned near the counter, its contents long soaked into the wooden floorboards. The air still smells of the burnt potion that had scorched Ghost’s skin.
The destruction around you is overwhelming, but Sybil’s soft whine pulls you back to the present. You set her down gently on a comfortable patch of floor, cleared from the chaos.
You scavenge what’s left, finding a few unbroken jars of salve and bandages hidden under the counter. Working methodically, you tend to Sybil's wounds, cleaning and wrapping them with as much care as your shaky hands allow. She remains still, enduring the discomfort with quiet patience.
Once she is cared for, you turn to your own leg. Your ankle is swollen and caked in dry blood, bruised from where Ghost had dragged you across the floor, his claws tearing into your flesh. You bite your lip as you clean the puncture wound. Wraith poison. It seeps slowly into the bloodstream, and if not treated, it can be lethal. You rub a poultice into the marks and wrap your leg tightly, knowing it will take time to heal, but at least it’s no longer a death sentence for either of you.
As you move to clean and pick up the remains of your shattered apothecary, every movement feels like an effort. You work slowly, but you push through, driven by the need to restore some sense of order.
While sweeping debris near where Ghost had writhed in pain, you freeze. Embedded in the floor, glinting faintly under the dim light, is one of Ghost’s nails, sharp and black, splintered into the wood from his violent struggle. You kneel down, inspecting it closely—its edges are jagged, coated in dried blood, and it radiates an eerie, dark energy. Carefully, you take a cloth and extract it.
Holding the nail in your hands, an idea begins to form.
You know of someone who can and will help. You swallow hard, the decision settling heavily within you. She’s not someone you reach out to lightly, but this time… there’s no other choice.
. . .
You leave Sybil resting on your bed, and only when her eyes flutter closed, do you leave her side, the familiar warmth of her presence a small comfort in the back of your mind.
You gather what you need, moving with purpose despite the clammines in your hands. The bathroom becomes your makeshift altar, and though the tub is humble, it will serve.
Carefully, you sprinkle the salvaged herbs into the water, watching as they drift across the surface. Each herb was chosen with intent—rosemary for protection, thyme for courage, lavender for clarity. A handful of salt follows, grounding the mixture and cleansing it.
With a slow exhale, you press your own nail hard against your thumb with a flinch, allowing a drop of your blood to fall into the tub. The water shudders, rippling outward in response, as though alive to your plea. Then, you murmur her name.
The surface of the water begins to glow with a faint, silvery light, casting soft reflections on the walls. The air thickens, each breath becoming heavier as the veil between worlds trembles before finally falling open.
Slowly, deliberately, she emerges from the tub. The top of her head, crowned with dark, damp hair, breaks through first, followed by her sharp, regal features, her eyes pale pools. She rises until her neck and shoulders hover just above the waterline, her arms gracefully settling over the edge of the tub.
Her gaze finds yours, calm but penetrating, a knowing smile flickering across her lips as she studies your face. The familiarity settles comfortably in the air between the two of you.
"Thou art troubled, mine old friend," she speaks, her voice a soft echo in the space. "What darkness doth plague thy heart?"
Her presence, while comforting, still commands your respect. You were taught from childhood to call her name only when truly needed, for she was an ally to your bloodline, but not a spirit to be called upon lightly.
Her eyes fix upon your battered state. “Thou art a sight most grievous,” she says, her voice rich with the cadence of old English. “Fear gnaws at thy bones, and pain hath left thee ragged, hollow. Wounded, indeed.”
You breathe deeply, pulling yourself together as you lift the cloth-wrapped object from your side. Silently, you offer her Ghost's nail, dark and deadly. Her gaze sharpens as she accepts it, her slender fingers turning it over in quiet, focused examination.
“Reveal to me the source of his madness,” you plea, “and of the others’. Please, show me what’s driven them to this.”
She studies the nail, tracing its jagged edges. Finally, she speaks.
“Aye,” she begins, voice grave, “thou seeketh the truth behind his descent. Yet, be warned: the truth is not what it seemeth. She, the one they pursue—she is not untouched, not unscarred by the same darkness. Though she is the centre, she is not the cause. She is but human, and another hand doth shape this tale.”
Your pulse quickens, mind racing as her words sink in. Leah—she was a source, but not the architect of this obsession. Her eyes hold yours, unreadable but certain.
“There is a design here, a careful orchestration. Another, cunning and cloaked, doth play upon thy pack’s nature, bending their hearts to obsession, their minds to ruin. This plan hath taken root already; what was begun is now well underway.”
Leah is as much a victim in this as the pack—only a piece in someone else’s scheme. "Who?" you ask, desperation slipping into your voice. “Who would do this?”
Her expression softens, but she shakes her head. "The shadow hath yet to reveal itself. But know this: as long as the threads go unseen, the madness shall deepen. The one who drives this seeks not thy destruction alone. Their aim is vast—boundless.”
With a slight tilt of her head, she turns back to you, holding the nail delicately between her fingers. She then extends it to you, resting it on the cloth. Her cool hand closes around yours, a silent reminder of the weight and danger that this fragment carries.
“Hold this close, child,” she murmurs. “For it may yet serve thee well. In times of shadow, such remnants of truth may be weapons against the dark.”
Then her hand releases yours, trailing up to your cheek with a tender, cool touch, thumb tracing a slow, reassuring line as her gaze holds yours, unyielding and steady.
“Do not let thy heart waver,” she whispers, voice soft yet powerful. “Thou art not so easily uprooted, nor cast aside by such an evil. Thy roots run deep, born of stronger stock than this darkness anticipates. Hold fast.”
Then, as swiftly as she’d come, she begins to sink back beneath the water, her fingers slipping from the edge of the tub, leaving you with more questions than answers. Alone in the dim light of your bathroom, each revelation settles like stones in your chest.
You’re not without fault either. You’d fed your own resentments, let jealousy twist your perspective until you’d unknowingly played into the hands of whatever force sought to divide and conquer. And that needs to end here.
With clarity finally settled on your mind, your thoughts turn again to Laswell. She’s always been the town’s first line of defence, and whatever is lurking here has crept under her watch. If anyone can help you make sense of things, it’s her.
With Ghost’s nail clutched tightly in your hand, you gather yourself and start moving. You leave Sybil behind, resting and safe as you focus on Laswell. It’s time to face everything—to confront whatever has been taking root here.
. . .
On the other side of town, Alejandro and Rudy moved through the quiet, pre-dawn streets, taking care of some early business that couldn’t wait for full daylight. Alejandro was scanning over the market supplies they’d been tasked to retrieve while Rudy jotted down some notes, the calm routine a welcome reprieve.
The usual scent of bread and spice mingled with the morning chill—until something sharp, unsettling, cut through it.
Alejandro stopped short, head tilting as his trained nose caught the unmistakable hint of blood. A slow tension crept up his spine as he recognized it, mixed with something familiar and wrong all at once His grip tightened around his gear, and he motioned for Rudy to follow.
They followed the faint trail toward the edge of the Rose District, its shadowy streets still cast in the muted dawn light. And there, half-shifted and sprawled against the stone, lay none other than Ghost. A mix of something matted his clothes, his form slumped but menacing even in partial human form.
Alejandro moved closer, but as Rudy reached out instinctively to help, Alejandro’s hand shot out, stopping him. “Espérate,” he hissed, his tone sharp, eyes narrowing as he zeroed in on Ghost's red-stained neck and knuckles. The fury building within him found confirmation in the scent lingering on the half-wraith's skin—it was unmistakably yours.
“It’s her blood,” Alejandro said, voice low and furious.
Rudy’s eyes widened, and before either could demand answers, Ghost’s eyes shot open, wild and feral. With a snarl, he surged to his feet, tearing away from their reach and disappearing back into the shadows, leaving only their unanswered questions and a trail of dread in his wake.
Rudy turned to Alejandro, jaw clenched. "We need to check on her. Now."
Without hesitation, they both turned on their heels, abandoning their morning duties. The journey back to your shop felt longer than it should, the urgency of what they might find gnawing at both of them.
The strange behaviour of the pack had lingered at the edges of Alejandro's thoughts. He remembered how odd they’d been the last time he and Rudy had delivered your tonics and potions to them—unsettled, like they were barely holding themselves together. He cursed at his carelessness. Whatever had been brewing beneath the surface had clearly boiled over, and now, you were caught on it dead and centre.
When they finally arrived at your shop, the destruction greeted them like a wound left open. Clearly someone had attempted to clean up, but shelves remained overturned, dried patches of blood staining the wooden floor. Alejandro could smell Ghost’s all over. But you were already gone. His eyes flickered upstairs when a soft whine from upstairs reached his ears.
“Sybil’s here,” Alejandro murmured. Rudy followed him cautiously up the stairs, where they came face-to-face with the door of your apartment—warded heavily with a spell they both recognized. It allowed only those with genuine intentions to pass.
A moment passed before the door clicked softly open, just enough to let them through. They ventured deeper inside and into your room, where the found Sybil laying in your bed, her head lifting as the pair approached. Her intelligent eyes locked with their, and though she couldn’t speak, her exhaustion told them everything.
"Pobrecita (Poor girl)," Rudy sighed, eyes soft as he looked at the injured familiar.
Alejandro, as a Perro Negro (Black Dog), possessed a bond with spirits, especially those of dogs or wolves. He knelt by her side, hand resting gently on her fur. Their connection deepened, and in the quiet of the room, Sybil communicated what she had witnessed. Through her thoughts, he saw the chaos that had unfolded—the fight, the terror, the injury. And most importantly, he saw where you had gone.
“Se fue a buscar a Laswell, (She went to look for Laswell)” Alejandro said, standing, his voice heavy with understanding. “That’s where we need to go.”

"I am the dirt under your fingernails" is a really good line in context and least of the classism problems in CaitVi. This, was genuinely romantic. Vi says this in response to Cait asking "Are you still in the fight?" with the established set up that Cait herself is still in the fight.
This is the closest we got to seeing them on equal footing. Caitlyn is fighting now because of her love for Vi guiding her. It's why she's searching for Jinx. Vi is also fighting for her love(as she always has), and when she says she's the firt under Cait's fingernails, she means she's going to stay with her no matter how dirty, how grueling, or how hopeless it may get. Caitlyn is the fist, the fighter now, and Vi is right along with her. This line was said when Vi had her wraps off, when he her hands were healed and lacking in the dirt under her nail for the entire show.
She's healing, slowly, steadily, she's getting there. And she'd keep fighting because it's a defining part of her as a person. Protector, shield. Caitlyn's sort of asking, "will you stay with me?" and Vi responds with "I give you all of me". Bound to her in the most intimate of ways.
It didn't feel like Vi was talking down on herself.

The room smelled better than most brothels. It was a welcome change, as was the surprisingly expensive and tasteful decor. It was homely; soft, comforting, warm even. All it was missing was a hearth and Aegon might have believed it to be someone’s home.
“Remove your shoes please.”
Aegon wanted to protest, for who were you to command him? The need to disobey, to dig his feet so far in the ground he could never be moved, was ingrained in his very bones. What would you do, he wondered, were he to step onto the pristine fur with his muddied boots? Would you turn red in the face as you screamed? Would you simply ignore it and move on, aware that any and all wrong steps may instead lead you to the black cells? He almost salivated at the endless possibilities. Alas, the carpet looked like it would feel heavenly under his feet, and so he kicked off his shoes. You thanked him with a voice dripping with honey, sugar and all things sweet. It made his teeth ache.
He stepped further into the room, onto the carpet. He dug his toes into it. Heaven, just as he imagined. It is soft, and warm, and the strands feel like silk against his skin. Another step, like walking on water. There was not a stain on it, nor a patch of fur bent out of turn. Twas like wading through clouds.
You pulled the drapes shut.
“Please sit.” You made a sweeping motion to a group of furniture. “Would you like some wine?”
Sit? Aegon was here to get his cock wet. But he was parched, and so he nodded.
You balanced two pristine silver chalices on an equally shiny silver platter in one hand and an overflowing silver flagon in the other. Expensive, for a whore at least. Did you have a set for each customer? There was not a scratch on any of it, not a spot of dirt or smudged fingerprints.
“Dornish red,” you told him as you filled his chalice exactly half-way.
His throat tightened.
“In my experience Dornish wine is quite… bitter. Less suitable for pleasure.”
You chuckled. He was pleasantly surprised by the sound. Most of the whores had rougher voices and were not as quick to laughter.
“‘Tis an acquired taste, aye, but I do believe you’ll enjoy this one. It’s sweet and yet rich in flavor. Truly there is none who make wine quite like the Dornish.”
Aegon raised an eyebrow. “I thought you were a whore, not a wine merchant.”
“I do not spend all day on my back.” You took a sip from your own chalice, resting a hand on a cocked hip. “A good whore knows her clientele, and well, mine prefer… simple comforts.”
He looked at the room again. There were large tapestries nailed to the stone walls, though he was unsure what they depicted. Fourteen of them in particular, all in different colors and vague figures. Interesting choice, he thought, but at least it would serve to lessen the echoes of your pleasure later. If the other whores had half the taste and coin for interior decorating as you then perhaps his head wouldn’t ache like a horde of Dothraki screamers had ran him over, when he left the establishment.
Perhaps simple was not the word anyone would use to describe the would-be safe haven that you had created. Twas clear your clientele were highborn, and in Aegon’s experience they rarely longed for simple things, be it wine or decor. Even you were not simple; your hair was well-cared for and shone of oils and had strings of precious stones fell between strands, your dress was not of Westerosi make and clung to you. Even your perfume was nothing short of expensive. A silver necklace clung to your throat, and your fingers were heavy with rings. No, nothing about your craft was simple.
“They pay you well for these simple comforts.” He said between sips of wine. You spoke true; he did care for it.
As if reading his mind you spoke again. “I’ve already sent a bottle with one of your guards, it should be in your chambers well before you return.”
“The crown thanks you.”
“Sarcasm is a family trait, I see.”
You refilled his chalice with wine, voice as nonchalant as if you commented on the weather. And for Aegon, who’s very core dripped with debauchery, well, you might as well have.
“As is the want for simple comfort, I assume.”
Your smile is coy. “Aye, I’ve found that the more riches one possesses, the more they long for, well, simpler things. Comfortable furniture, conversations with a friend,” you move closer, your fingers brushing against his shoulders. Your breath is hot as it fans over the shell of his ear. “A hug. A…” your hands move over his shoulders, down his chest, “mother’s love.”
And then you’re gone.
“Simple things for simple men.”
“I’m not a simple man.” Aegon scoffed. And he didn't long for his mother’s love. He’s experienced it plenty, as he had the back of her hand.
“No,” you say, “I don’t suppose you are. The blood of the dragon rarely is simple.”
Aegon drank the rest of his wine.
“You talk a lot, for a whore.”
“I’m not a simple whore.”
“Perhaps not, but you end up on your back all the same.”
“And your coin ends up in my pocket. You claim not to be a simple man, Aegon Targaryen, and yet, you drink, whore, and sulk like any other man, only your features are not so plain.”
“I could have your head for saying such things.” Aegon raised his chalice and gave it a wiggle. “If you insist on nagging my ear off I need to be far drunker than I am.”
You brought a different flagon. It’s decorated with green and red stones, and there’s words engraved along both the bottom and the top of it. It’s Valyrian glyphs, but Aegon cannot read it. He averted his eyes.
The wine shimmers in the candle light. It’s gold in color and smells heavenly.
“From the Jade Sea,” you said as you returned his chalice to him. “The Dornish are excellent wine makers but even their finest vintages taste like vinegar compared to the golden wines of Yi Ti.”
Aegon swirls the wine inside his chalice. Never had he seen a wine so… appealing; so mouth watering. He brought it to his mouth. It felt like silk as he swallowed mouthful after mouthful, and a pleasant warmth followed it. There was none of the awful burn that came with the household wine back in the Keep, and neither did it feel like a stone in his stomach.
“I assume a bottle of this will be waiting for me in my chambers,” he jested.
“It’s already there. I had it delivered yesterday. A… preview of our evening of sorts, though now it will be a memory of it.”
Doubtful. Aegon would hardly have the time to reminisce on his one-off evening with the oddest whore in all the known lands whilst drinking his body weight in wine. No, the bottle of Yi Ti gold would be one of many bottles strewn across his chamber floors when he would inevitably be sent into another week-long bender. Besides, you served it in a flagon, and thus Aegon would not notice which bottle was which sober, much less drunk. Though perhaps it would soothe his body’s protests, as it was currently soothing him now. He sipped at the drink like a babe sucked at his mother’s tits, not that Aegon had much experience with the latter.
“What wine did you give my brother?”
Your lips quirked into a smile. It fit you. Yours was a face made for smiling. “One that fit him.”
“That’s awfully vague.”
“You don’t last long in this business if you’re loose-lipped.”
He chortled. “The one-copper whores beg to differ.”
There’s a tightness to your smile. “You’d be surprised at the secrets they possess. Those one-copper whores could topple dynasties if they so wished.”
“And you?”
Has his brother confided in you? His uncle? His father? Did you keep secrets that could rattle the foundations of the world as they know it? Aegon was almost tempted to give you more, to feed the fire burning under his feet until even he burnt. There were cracks in his family’s rule– of every rule– small as mice, but plenty big for secrets and deceit.
“Perhaps if you behave I shall tell you some.”
A hot flash of something rushed up his spine.
“And if I do not?”
“Then you shall leave with nothing.”
“I could command you to tell me.”
“You could.” You inclined your head. “But as some of my… friends are also of noble birth then your command will simply be a waste of breath, and I would rather you save it for what is to come. You will need it.”
There it was again. That thrill; that heat that licked at his insides. He should have you punished for your insolence. Whipped perhaps, or maybe he would have your tongue. But Aegon admired fire, but even more so he admired those who looked upon him as you do; as if he is more than a rusted sword fit to be wielded as his family saw fit.
“You’re bold.” Aegon pushed himself off the armchair. He walked up to you, moving as if to touch you. You glanced down at his hands, at his arms, then at his face. His fingers trailed up your arm, your shoulders, over your collarbones and the column of your throat. Aegon’s touch was gentle, teasing almost, he wanted you to want his touch. And judging by how your breath hitched when he reached your throat, his caresses are more than welcome. “I like it.”
His hand cupped your face. You were soft and warm. A healthy blush spread up your chest from the hem of your dress.
How far did it reach, Aegon wondered. Were you as pink and lovely and soft and warm-
You leaned into his touch. And then you were gone, leaving him cold with his hand still held high in the air. He dropped it quickly, but the feeling of you remained. Aegon adjusted his clothing but it did not lessen the memory of how you felt pressed against him.
How odd, he frowned, to feel as such over a mere touch of his hand against your face. It was not at all intimate. Like a blushing virgin seeing a glimpse of a woman’s ankles he stared after you, which is altogether odd for a man such as Aegon who cloaked himself in sin and lust. He who had visited the brothels so oft even the whores’ whelps recognized him by the sound of his fancy boots. Scarce were the mornings he did not wake with one hand on a warm cunt and the other on a supple breast.
“You’re eager,” you said to him with a slight smile. “I like it. It makes one feel wanted… desired, does it not?”
“Do you have more wine?”
A flash of something passed through your eyes. “Of course.”
“Go on then, fetch the next one.”
You offered your hand to him. You didn't demand his answer, nor his thoughts. You took only what he freely offered. It left him feeling strangely full, and less like the hollowed out stranger he oft saw at the bottom of his bottles.
He took your hand. Warmth flooded back into him.
Pushed into a corner of the room was a large bed. It was similar to the one he had in his chambers, a bit too similar. Still, it looked comfortable enough. It certainly didn’t suffer from a lack of pillows, nor had you spared any expenses on neither the frame nor the make of the mattress.
You gestured for him to sit down before you walked over to grab a third flagon of wine. Gods, Aegon was sure to be stumbling back to the Keep following your night together if the pace you were handing him drinks was to be considered. Still, Aegon sat fell down on the bed with a lack of grace most unbecoming of a noble. It was even softer than he imagined.
He cared for conversation, he did, truly, but his cock had been aching for relief since you opened the door and any longer and he thought it might burst. Did you not see the lust in his eyes? Did you think to quench the burning desire in him with expensive wine? Nay, Aegon reckons his mother will have to collect his charred remains were you not to touch him.
At last, after what felt like an age, you turned. Have you always walked as such? The sway of your hips were almost hypnotizing. A smile lit up your face, though he could not tell what kind of smile it was. He had no need for more wine, for his mind was buzzed and his hands longed to trace you.
You didn’t bring the flagon you’d been observing. Mayhaps it was a bad fit. Aegon doesn’t care.
“Are you familiar with how the wine merchants of Yi Ti make it?” You asked.
He shook his head. Why in the hells would he know that?
You’re close enough that he could smell you again. Your touch is soft as you cup his face, thumb swiping over his bottom lip. “Wine is fermented grapes, as I’m sure you already know.” Your voice is a touch lower, more seductive. Odd, considering the subject, Aegon mused. You moved to straddle him, and he welcomed you with his hands falling onto your hips, his legs separating to bring you closer. ‘Tis a dance he is familiar with, finally. “The type of wood that is used is different with every maker,” one of your hands fell on his thigh. He swallowed a hiss when your hold tightened. “The merchants from Yi Ti? They use a very particular breed of tree to make the vintage I just served you. It is a known…” your hand released his thigh only to brush over his crotch, “aphrodisiac.”
“Uhuh.” Aegon nodded. So long as you kept your hands on him he’d feign interest in wine making.
Pathetic. A brush of a hand makes him harder than he’s ever been before.
The brush turns into a flat touch, which then turns into a caress. ‘Tis all teasing, in the end. Like the smell of a pie wafting out from under the gaps in the kitchen doors; ‘tis there, and yet, it is not. It’s a promise of a future reward.
Aegon tightened his hold on your hips before pulling you forward until you sat as close as physically possible. And still did he want you closer. It’s a crippling need of his; a dark pit of emptiness that can only be temporarily filled with the closeness of another. It came back stronger, deeper, each time. Still, it gnaws at him, like a gnat buzzing in his ear.
Closer, it whispered.
Closer, it shouted.
He would crawl inside your skin and live there, and yet it would not be enough. Nothing ever was. The voices would remain, and the abyss inside him growing ever larger, like a looming shadow spreading its rot to every interaction. Soon, Aegon would be as rotten as his thoughts, as his desires. He would be the failure of a man his mother believed him to be.
You showed no signs of seeing his struggle for you pressed yourself ever closer until he felt your heart beat against his. Aegon surged forwards, slotting his mouth over yours in a dance that was oh so familiar to him. This, he knew how to do. If you’re surprised by it you don’t show it.
You’re a whore, of course you’re not surprised by him kissing you.
Briefly Aegon wondered who out of them were the best kisser, him, his brother or his uncle? How many Targaryens had warmed your bed? Had his father stumbled into your arms and sampled all that you had to offer? Had you woven tales of wine merchants and the likes to them as well?
Did he kiss like his uncle?
He knew he did not fuck like his uncle, for the whores spoke often of his uncle’s talents, and his obsession with taking them from behind like a hound. Aegon found he did not care for that, but he reckoned his uncle’s fancy came more from a desire to dream of fairer features than the pleasure of it.
You pulled away from his lips. Strings of saliva connected the two of you together, and Aegon would never admit it, but he found himself chasing after your lips.
“Undress.” You said and pushed at his clothed chest.
He raised a pale eyebrow.
“If you insist.”
He shrugged off his tunic easily enough, but his trousers, well, he’d have to move you to remove those and Aegon found himself very reluctant to part from you or your body. Aegon tapped your thighs and you wrapped your legs around his waist. He stood from the bed and pulled down his trousers, kicked off his shoes and then fell back on the bed.
“Fuck.” Aegon grunted.
You laughed.
“Lay back.” You told him.
Aegon did as you asked. The pillows were harder than he thought, but in a good way. His head didn’t sink in, but rather rested on it. They reminded him of his own pillows. Strange, but he was too horny to care.
He’s already hard when you grab his cock. Aegon gets nothing from your expression apart from desire. No surprise at his size, but neither disappointment. Not delighted at finding him hard and ready for you, nor dismayed. Curious. His heart skipped a beat at the uncertainty of it all. With common whores he knew how to act – where to touch, what to say. They swooned and gushed over every aspect of him, slobbered on his cock whilst moaning about his size and girth like they had never seen a cock before. But this? This silent appraisal, the almost tender hold of him as you swiped across his tip, as you traced the vein and cupped his heavy balls? This, this was unfamiliar even to him.
“Are you ready?” You broke the silence.
“W-what?”
It was an odd question. For as long as he had visited brothels, for as long as he had laid with others there had never been this out-of-place pause in… affairs. It all followed the same pattern; greetings, some petting, then sex, and then he’d leave. He didn’t know what to do with your question, what did you want? What answer should he give?
Were you going to sit on his face? Many of his conquests enjoyed that, and while Aegon wasn’t overly fond of it and was prone to feeling trapped if it went on for too long, it was never a question asked out loud. It was the moving of hips, of knees closing in around his head and a warm, wet cunt dropped on his mouth.
You swiped damp hair off his forehead, there’s a strained expression on your face. Aegon doesn’t like it.
“Are you ready?” You repeated. “Do you want this?” You clarified.
Gods yes, he wanted to say. I think I’ll die if we don’t, he wanted to say.
“Oh. Yes.” Aegon said instead. The odd expression on your face didn’t waver.
Curious.
You released his cock, and he shuddered. Instead you brought your hands forward and gripped his shoulders, leaning forward. Your eyes never left his as if searching for something. You scoured his face, watched his every microexpression.
He just wanted to be inside you already.
But he laid frozen beneath you.
‘Behave’. Echoed through his mind.
Then, your hand is back on his cock. You bring your hand up and down, loosening your hold and then tightening it. You seemed acutely aware of him – of his reactions. As if reading his mind you adjusted your hold, your speed, the pressure, even the angle as his pleasure ebbed, grew, and lessened.
Odd as you were, you were a good whore. Skilled, certainly. But odd nonetheless.
His toes curled, and a familiar warmth grew with your movements. Aegon wasn’t silent, he was a man proud of both the pleasure he felt and the pleasure he gave. And so he moaned, and he shuddered, and he groaned. It echoed far louder than he’d thought, and were it not for the gleam in your eyes he’d surely fall silent.
He was about to tell you to stop; that he was seconds away from spilling into your hand, when you pulled away.
Perhaps you were a mind reader after all.
Your grip on his cock is loose but firm as you guided him inside you. Heavenly warmth enveloped him, and your walls felt akin to silk. Aegon knew little of love, but if he knew anything, it was that love surely felt like this. Like two pieces connecting.
Your eyes flutter closed as you bring yourself down. By the time you’re flush with his pelvis Aegon has started to pray to all the gods to let him last a little longer. It is too much and yet it is not enough. His body ached for release; beads of sweat formed on his forehead from trying to stave off his orgasm.
But you seemed like you were above it all, like something ethereal. In the throes of your pleasure – as you forced yourself to rise and then fall on him like it was your gods given duty – you shone, and Aegon had never seen anything more beautiful. Your sounds of pleasure are music to his ears, and yet it is whispered.
Aegon pressed a thumb against your clit, and you trembled at the sudden touch. Then you moved ever faster, and Aegon tried to match your pace. He alternated pressure as you had before, he pressed circles and squares, and he spelled his name, and all others he could think of.
Aemond.
Daemon.
Viserys.
Jaehaerys?
He’s soon lost to his pleasure as well, in the way you impale yourself on his cock and force him out of his thoughts and into the present. He knew not what names he pressed into your clit, not what names or family he used to elicit more and more moans from you. It is not enough. He ate up your pleasure as if it was his own.
You batted his finger away from you before forcing his hands above his head where you held him by his wrists.
“Behave.” You told him through your teeth.
Redness spread across his face and a thrill rushed through his body.
“You’re still dressed.” He realized. How he had missed that, he would never know. It feels like a sin to have been so caught in his own pleasure, or rather the chase of it, that he had neglected even that.
Aegon blinked and you’ve ripped your dress over your head without missing a beat.
He blinked again. Too stunned to react.
Breasts.
‘Twas like an out of body experience watching himself reach for your breasts, to feel the soft flesh under his fingers. He cupped them, thumbing at your nipples.
He knew not what to focus on; your body, you, or the delicious torture of your hips slapping against his. Aegon felt in that moment like he was one and ten and he stumbled into his first pillow house.
Aegon shook his head.
“Focus on me,” you said as if sensing his thoughts. You tore his hands from your breasts and held them above his head again. It brought him back to you, and he gulped. He thought he might have felt small with the way you loomed over him, but he found that he did not.
Fighting against the whirlwind of pleasure was a losing battle, and the hand you laid flat against the side of his face was his undoing. He burrowed his face in the crook of your neck as wave after wave of pleasure washed over him. It’s not a quick affair. He feels as if there’s no end to the white hot pleasure that shot through him. You didn’t stop your movements, instead you slowed down until you rose and fell in slow languid strokes.
Aegon’s eyes burnt.
“Did you finish?” He asked whilst panting when he didn’t feel like he was drowning anymore.
You looked as if you were glowing, like the mother unveiled smiling down at him.
“Your pleasure is my pleasure.”
“Fuck.” He let his head fall back. “You didn’t. Fuck. Give me a moment and I’ll-”
“Nay, Aegon.” You laid beside him. He felt empty as he slid out of you.
Not close enough, the voices started again.
“There will be other nights.” You soothed his bruised ego.
“You truly are the oddest whore I’ve had the pleasure of fucking.”
You laughed.
Aegon moved closer to you, though his skin crawled as the sheets below his sweaty skin seemed to tear at his skin. He pressed himself into you, resting his head almost tentatively on your chest. It felt good, he realized. And safe. Aegon melted into your embrace as you reached over to play with his hair.
“So about that secret,” he glanced up at you, “what wine did you give my brother?”
“Myrish fire wine.”
Aegon roared with laughter so loud that his chest ached.

Fuller, Texas. You look down at the map you picked up at a gas station in Austin, just a shitty state map you got even though David insisted all he had to do was follow the signs on the highway. You trace your route from Austin. You can’t find Fuller on the map. It could be a ghost town for all you know, just like those old mining towns back home that collapsed into ruin under the weight of financial problems. Of course, that would be just your luck, lost in the middle of Texas in the dead of summer with a dwindling supply of gas. You scratch at your forearm. Not a single car has passed by you or been trailing behind you. The last car you saw was nearly an hour ago. If David was going the speed limit, that’s got to be at least fifty miles. You draw a thin line of blood and hiss. Fifty miles to walk in one direction, and who knows how long in the other.
Anna is looking at the fuel gauge every thirty seconds, biting at her nails the closer and closer it gets to empty. David is white knuckling the steering wheel. Lucy and Bobby have gone quiet, their antics having earned them a harsh reprimand by David. No one dares to peek, frightened of David’s ire and the situation you find yourselves in.
“Thank god!” David exclaims.
You shift in your seat and look out the window. Up ahead, like a little oasis in the desert, is a gas station. It can’t be more than a mile away. That won’t be nearly so bad a walk if the van shits out on you now. You can handle walking a mile one way to get there and another mile back to haul back gas.
The van comes to a spluttering stop about a quarter of a mile away. The walk will do some good after being cooped up this long.
“You got a gas can?” Bobby asks, sliding the door open.
“Nah, man.”
“Alright. Anyone coming with?”
Lucy immediately throws her hand up in the air with a giggly smile and bright eyes.
“I’ll come too.” You push yourself off the seat and shuffle through the small pathway that spits you out to the door.
The breeze feels nice after the air that sits stagnant in the van. The trees rustle above you, barely enough leaves on them to shade you, but it’s a welcome reprieve. You can’t wait to get through Texas–the state stretches on for ages, and though it’s only your second day driving through it, it’s still too much.
It doesn’t take more than two or three minutes to reach the gas station and by that time you’re already soaked in sweat. Your hair sticks to your face, your shirt to your chest. You glance, as subtle as you can, to Bobby and Lucy walking hand in hand. You look for any evidence that they’ve been sweating too. You relax a little when you see the shine on their skin and the dampness on their shirts. It’s always embarrassing when you’re the only one that sweats. It gives them another thing to rib you about.
Now that you're standing right out front, you are having serious doubts about this place–it’s so run down, peeled paint and dusty windows and rusted over gas pumps. It’s dark inside, as if it’s not inhabited. You don’t want to be the one that says anything negative and bring down everyone’s high hopes, but you see that they are thinking the same thing. Lucy is grinding her heels in the dirt and pursing her lips, just waiting to say something cruel and out of proportion with the situation, though you may give her a little leeway considering. Bobby is red in the face and arms crossed over his chest.
Bobby is the first to speak, “Think anyone’s in there?”
-
Hoyt hauls you up by your upper arm and angles himself to get right in your face, close enough that you can smell beer and tobacco on his breath, he parts his lips and reveals his dip stained smile. You wrinkle your nose up at him, squirming in his grasp, you don’t want to know what kind of punishment he has in store for you, what merciless words he has. You work your jaw and spit at him.
“Get your fucking hands off me!”
Hoyt wipes at his face and you see his eyes change, steeling themselves as his grin turns into a snarl. His grip on your arm tightens and he wraps his other hand in your hair, he tugs you with such a force that you fall back on onto your knees. You cry out when you hit the floor. Tommy watches it all play out, hand still gripping the cleaver, a puddle of blood forming around his boots.
“Made me lose the only pussy I’ve had in a month, you know what that kind of a dry spell can do to a man?” He yanks you by your hair and manages to pull a few strands out from your head. “Gonna make that up to me, huh?”
That’s where Tommy decides to interject. His free hand wraps around Hoyt’s wrist, the one that’s holding onto your hair. He snorts, chest heaving, and pulls Hoyt’s hand free, taking out more hair along with it. You sob and clutch at your head, bowing down in supplication to the two men above you.
“Please, ‘m sorry!” You reach out for Tommy, hoping whatever stayed his hand last night will emerge and grant you clemency, fingers curl into his pant leg and you drag yourself to him to lay your forehead against his strong thigh. His pants grow damp from your tears and saliva, unable to control your wailing. Gone is the girl from last night, strong enough to confront the beast, now that you have some hope of life, you can’t help but try to make it out of here alive. “Tommy, please.”
It’s the first time you’ve said his name and he whips his head to look at you. His breath comes out as a whistle from the nostrils of his mask, eyes softening as he looks down at you.
You go slack against him when you feel him pat the top of your head and his thumb tenderly pressing the wrinkle out from between your eyebrows. He offers you his hand. You take it. It feels like you’re making a deal with the devil.
“Don’t think I won’t get mine, girl,” Hoyt mutters. “Both of you get the hell out.”
You cry silently, looking over your shoulder at Lucy’s spent body. No one should be treated that way. You’ve pushed your luck enough. Hoyt crawls over her, unbuckling his belt as Tommy herds you out of that room and back to the beginning.
You hate him.
He ties your wrists to the headboard with an old scarf. He binds them together and lays you on your side. He slips a finger between your flesh and the scarf, tugging once to test the strength of the knot he tied. Whatever freedom Tommy and his family had cautiously trusted you with is revoked.
He doesn’t leave, just sits beside you and wipes away your tears with a reverent touch. It makes you cry harder.
-
You’re untied the next morning by the old woman. She peers down at you over her cat eye glasses, examining you for something. Her thin lips are drawn tight and her skin sallow. You think she may have been beautiful once.
“Up you get. Breakfast is on the table.”
Your arms ache, the sensation of pins and needles running all the way from your shoulders to the tips of your fingers. The skin around your wrists is tender where the rough fabric of the scarf chaffed your skin and rubbed you raw until it felt like your nerve endings have been exposed to the air. The woman waits at the threshold of the door, staring at you with impatience. You scurry to follow her, not willing to piss off another person in the house.
You pointedly ignore the front door as you pass it and lead back to the dining room. Blood stained the lace of the table cloth and you can see some chunks of Anna that haven’t been cleaned up splashed across the wall. The blood has been allowed to dry up on every surface, nobody bothered to clean it.
There was a large spread on the table, but it seems you’re the last one to get the notice for breakfast. Plates and baskets are empty. A few leftover forkfuls of scrambled eggs and half a biscuit is all that’s left. The woman follows your gaze.
“Breakfast is at six. If you miss it, you get whatever's left. There ain’t nothin’ left, you don’t get breakfast.”
“What time is it?” your voice cracks.
“Quarter to ten.”
“What… What am I doing here?”
“Tommy likes you,” she says simply, like that's a good enough answer. “Sit down, eat what you can.”
You don’t want to eat but your stomach growls and rumbles, cramping up from the lack of food, you’re hungry but you’re too sick to eat. She waits. You scoop what’s left of the eggs onto a plate and take the half eaten biscuit. The eggs are cold and the biscuit is hard and dry without any butter or honey to soften it. The old woman gives you a glass of water to wash it down with.
“Mama, you seen my…” Hoyt rounds the corner and sees you sitting there, biscuit hovering right outside your mouth. He stomps over and grabs it right out of your hands, takes a large bite and begins talking. “You don’t need none a that, got enough meat on your damn bones.” He sprays crumbs of biscuit over you and you scrunch your eyes tight and shut your mouth to avoid it.
The woman frowns. “What’d you need?”
“Lookin’ for my hat.”
“Don’t know where it’s at.”
He finishes up the biscuit and heads out.
“Don’t you mind him, he’s harmless.”
-
The entire day is spent under the watchful eye of the old woman, who you’ve come to know is Luda Mae. She talks and talks about her life, about her family and the turn the town took, how she found Tommy in a waste bin outside the old laughter house, the life blood of the town. She waxes on about the good old days, between the prosperity after the second war and the Korean War when Hoyt was taken from their home and shipped halfway across the world, how it changed the man. She does not ask a single question about you, not even to find out your name. She just refers to you as girl or baby.
She watches you as you clean, content to take the backseat and just watch, not have to lift a finger. She must be relieved to have another hand to help her out. You blink the sweat out of your eyes and wipe your arm against your forehead and continue to scrub at the grout on the floor. Luda Mae chain smokes while you work.
Thomas comes by later in the afternoon with a package of meat wrapped up in butcher paper and tied up with a piece of twine. He drops it on the counter.
“Think we got enough to last us until winter?” Luda Mae asks, unwrapping the meat. You’ve never seen a cut of meat look like that. You wonder what it is.
Thomas nods.
You glance at him from the ground. Towering above you, he seems like a god, untouchable, unknowable. He has not spoken a single word in your presence. Can he speak? How are you supposed to know what goes on inside his head, if you make a wrong move or say something wrong to him? You won’t have a moment to find out, you’ll be dead the second you do, just like Lucy.
He walks away, footsteps echoing off the walls as he is swallowed up by the house.
Luda Mae cuts up the meat into rough cubes and browns the chunks in a cast iron skillet, throws a few potatoes and onions and carrots into a pot and drowns it with a broth from one of the mason jars. The meat follows after. The best you can figure is beef, but you hadn’t seen any cattle out on the farm when you ran, matter of fact, there was no livestock to be seen.
You clean while she cooks and when the stew is ready, she hollers down for her boys to come eat. They file in–Hoyt first followed by Monty and trailing at the end of the pack is Tommy. They all sit around the table, taking up their usual spots while you wait to see what's left for you, which happens to be a spot between Hoyt and Tommy, sitting straight across from Luda Mae.
Luda Mae serves each of the men, giving Tommy a healthy portion. She serves herself and leaves the ladle in the pot. You serve yourself. The stew reeks, the potatoes and carrots undercooked and while the meat suffers the opposite problem.
You stare down at the bowl as Hoyt says grace, thanking the lord for this bountiful meal. You hold your tongue.
“Amen.”
They all break into their meals. Tommy eats with his hands, tearing into the meat with sharp teeth and rips pieces off, pops carrots and potatoes into his mouth, barely stopping to take a breath as he devours. He licks his finger and brings the bowl to his lips, slurping down the broth until only the dregs are left. He mops up the broth with a dry piece of bread. Everyone else eats with cutlery but they are hardly any better, eating like they don’t know when their next meal will be.
A piece of meat floats up to the top of the bowl.
“Eat your food,” Luda Mae says.
“What kind of meat is this?”
Tommy, evidently fed up with you, grabs your chin and reaches into the bowl with his other hand, fishes out a chunk of meat, tears it apart with, and shoves it against your closed mouth. You squirm in his grasp, sliding back into your chair to escape it. He grabs your cheek, forcing your jaw open much the same like when he inspected your mouth, and when your jaw drops, he shoves the meat in your mouth and throws his hand over your mouth and plugs up your nose. You choke down the piece of meat. It’s not pork or beef. It’s not gamey enough to be deer or tender enough to be elk. Too dark for it to be chicken or duck. You eventually swallow. He shovels the food down your throat, breaking up the potatoes and carrots like you’re a child incapable of chewing your food. Whatever it is, it’s inedible.
He continues shoveling food down your throat and tears spring to your eyes as you're helpless against it. When you refuse to swallow even after he blocked off your airways, he pushes the food down with a thick finger while you gag around the intrusion. He goes too deep and you suffer the consequences, your torso rolling forward as your stomach clenches and pushes vile back up your throat. It spews out between Thomas’ fingers and he snatches his hand back. Your head hangs forward and you brace yourself with your elbows against the table. It burns just as bad coming up as it did going down.
Hoyt slams his spoon down against the table and stands. “Ungrateful bitch. We don’t waste food.” Hoyt scoops up the chunks of your vomit and grabs your head, ducking you down to eat out of his hand. “Come on, eat up.”
“Hoyt.” Luda Mae warns.
“Now what, Mama?” Hoyt looks up at her and sneers. “Gotta teach her some manners.”
Tommy doesn’t come to rescue you this time. He doesn’t even look at you, doesn’t acknowledge what Hoyt is doing to you. He curls into his seat, one hand petting over the dried out flesh of David’s face, right where his cheek would be, eyes down turned as he makes a noise in his throat.
The acidic smell makes you gag and that gives Hoyt the opening he’s been looking for and shoves the chunks into your mouth, mirroring Tommy. He scoops, pours it into your mouth and holds your mouth and nostrils closed. You cry and wail, thrash against the seat, you burn in humiliation as you swallow each mouthful of the acidic sludge.
He gets right in your face and whispers as if he’s telling you a secret, “Told you I’d get mine, girl.” Hoyt shoves you out of your chair. You hit the ground with a thud and curl into yourself, covering your head with your hands, prepared for a physical battering that never comes.
“I’m sorry!” you wail. That’s all you seem to know how to say now. How much more indignity will you have to withstand here? You’re no longer a person here. You imagine what would happen if you were to escape, how you would be hailed as the lone survivor, the lucky one, the one that should be grateful to be alive. It’s hard to consider yourself lucky or grateful to still be breathing when you are treated as nothing more than an unloved dog.
“Best not see you wastin’ food like that again.”
Everyone at the table continues on as if nothing happened while you are suspended in time, curled up on the ground soaking in your bile. They chat about their respective days. Luda Mae scolds the man in the wheelchair for feeding his dog at the table. A hand reaches down to you, pets your shoulder gently. Tommy. You can’t stand his touch. What use was it to be chosen by him, to be the only survivor of a brutal slaughter, and he won’t even protect you from these punishments Hoyt has decided to debase you with? He can’t like you that much like Luda Mae claimed he did. He keeps on petting you.
Dinner ends. Monty and Hoyt leave the dining room, not bothering to bring their dishes to the sink, and you can hear a television set turn on and Luda Mae clears the table. Tommy does not get up to help her, so preoccupied with you. He pulls you back into your seat, grunting at your dead weight–you refuse to participate anymore–and he cleans you up. He wipes the vomit from around your mouth with the sleeve of his shirt and licks his thumb to wipe at the dried spots of bile across your cheek and chin, picks at the chunks in your hair and on your clothes. Tommy nuzzles his cheek against the top of your head.
-
Luda Mae doesn’t want anything to do with you today. She ignores you when she unties you from the bedpost and leads you not to the kitchen but out the front door. You stumble at the threshold, wondering if it’s a trick, that if you take one step outside, Tommy will come running like a bat out of hell and mow you down with the chainsaw and serve you up on a silver platter. Luda Mae scoffs and pull you by the wrist outside.
“Monty, I’m goin’ down to the station. You watch her.”
Monty scowls at her and begins to argue. Luda Mae ignores him and begins her walk down the dirt road, off to the gas station.
He ignores you while his mutt growls and yips at you, annoyed by the stranger that’s taken up residence in its home, disturbing the careful balance of family life.
Monty pulls out a carton of cigarettes and lights one up.
“Can I get one?”
He side eyes you. Up until now, Monty has pretended you don’t exist, hasn’t so much as spared you a glance or a word. He’s decidedly more bearable than anyone else. He pulls another cigarette out and hands it and a lit match to you. You light the cigarette, shake the flame out and toss the match out into the long grass.
You take a long drag. It’s been years since you last touched one and what a relief it is. The acrid taste of tobacco and smoke overwhelming you, the burn in your lungs when you inhale, familiar and homey, it relaxes you. The smell of cigarette smoke will cover up the scent of vomit, a decided improvement. “Thanks.”
“Don’t get used to it.”
You look at his legs. The ends of his legs are scared to hell and looks like the flaps of skin left to close over the old wound were crudely sewn closed. The skin is red and irritated. The dog steps close to the end of his left leg and you hear a hiss from Monty.
You lean up against the column and nod your chin in his direction. “What happened to your legs?”
“Huntin’ accident.”
You hum.
-
You wipe away the grimy window with your hand. Your palm comes back greasy and dark gray. The store is dark inside. And just as you thought from spending a minute looking at the outside, it’s abandoned, there’s no way anyone has been in there in ages.
“I think we’re outta luck.” You squat down and brush your palm along the dried up patch of grass and weeds. “I don’t see anyone in there.”
“Goddamn it.” Bobby kicks at the dirt. “I knew we should’ve stopped for gas at the last town. Fuckin’ David.”
“What are we going to do?” Lucy whimpers.
“I don’t fuckin’ know.”
The door to the station opens and shuts. An old woman with cat eye glasses and an apron tied around her waist looks over the group of you with an unimpressed glean in her eye. She looks mean, hardened by the years of the Texas sun and rural living. She takes a drag of her cigarette and points to the three of you with the lit end. “What y’all think you’re doin’?”
“We were just stopping for gas,” you offer.
The woman shrugs. “Ain’t got any.”
“How?” Lucy squawks. “This is a gas station!”
“Girl, did you even look around when ya’ drove through?” She leans over the edge of the porch, upper lip curling in a sneer. “It look like I got people coming in here bothering me for gas every day?”
“I know it’s a lot to ask but would you be able to give us a ride or maybe you could call someone to take us up to the next town to get gas?” you ask.
“Nearest town is thirty miles west. Ain’t nobody I know wasting gas like that, not with prices like they are. Best hope you got enough to get you there.”
Lucy stutters over her words and fuming until she goes red in the face. “Miserable, old hag!”
Bobby stalks up towards the woman. She doesn’t shirk under him, just looks at him as if he said something funny and it only aggravates him. He gets right into her face, throwing some kind of hissed threat at her that you can’t make out. She only laughs and blows smoke in his face.
“Let's get out of here.” Bobby mutters and grabs both you and Lucy by the arms, tugging you along back towards the van. You’re not sure who is going to be brave enough to break the news to David. These two have royally fucked it up. You rip yourself out of Bobby’s grasp, arm jiggling with the force you use.
“You guys head back, I’m gonna try again.”
“Dumpling, get back here. We aren’t wasting anymore time on that bitch.”
“Don’t call me that!” you shout.
Bobby raises an eyebrow and Lucy snickers, covering it up with a well polished hand. “Why should I?”
You bite the inside of your cheek. Why try and reason with him? You knew this would happen. You are no longer the fun loving, self hating fat girl they want that goes along with their jokes and barbs, no longer just set decoration or something to fill the gaps in conversation. They won’t see you as a person, it won’t matter what you say. So you don’t. “I’ll be back.”
The old woman has retreated back into the station by the time you get back to the porch. You push open the door and knock on the door jam. “Ma’am?”
It’s darker than you thought it would be; the only sources of light come from the windows and the display case. The case is full of cuts of meat that have gone gray, infested with maggots and flies buzzing about, feast happily on their spoiled meal. Littering the walls are the most gaudy and grotesque trinkets, the most prominent being the moose head mounted against the wall, looming over you, its glass eyes watching you, warning you that something isn’t quite right here. The hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Someone is watching you.
You look around the room and toward the back you see the outline of a person swallowing up the doorway they stand in.
“Hello?”
They do not respond nor do they move into the light. You approach them even though everything in your gut is telling you to run, run as far as you can and never look back, but you crush that feeling under your foot because what the worst that can happen? Bad things don’t happen to people like you.
The man shuffles backwards when you come to stand in front of him, You stop him with a light touch on the wrist. His fingers splay apart and then curl up into a fist before relaxing into their natural position. His fingers twitch. You let go. You can’t imagine that you make him nervous, not with his size and the strength he practically oozes. He makes you nervous, though most men do—you can never tell what they are thinking or if they will treat you with any respect or kindness, they take one look at you and decide right then and there, based purely on the way you look, how they will treat you, and more often than not it is with calculated disinterest or rudeness as they try to chat up other women, prettier women who don’t take up space like you do. He must know about what it feels to take up space with his wide shoulders and barrel chest, his stomach rounded off with a layer of fat and thick arms corded with muscle from manual labor. Maybe he will show you a shred of decency. He’s wearing a thick apron stained in blood—he must be the one that butchered the pig in the display case. His face is shrouded in shadow. He’s tall, taller than any man you have ever met before.
“Excuse me, sir.” He perks up, shoulders drawn tight and back ramrod straight, making himself taller. You try to peer at his face. You can see the white of his eyes. “I was looking for the woman that works here.”
“What are you doin’ here?” the woman says from behind you.
You jump at the sound of her voice and turn your back to the man. “I came to apologize for my… friends.”
She comes closer to you, crowding you closer and closer against the man. Eventually, there’s no place left for you to go, you don’t quite touch him but you can feel the heat radiate off of him in thick waves. You swallow hard, raising your hands up to placate her, but she takes no notice, expression growing sour as she sees your proximity to the man. His right hand hovers below your elbow, fingers twitching, itching to grab hold of your soft arm.
“You leave my boy alone and get out of here.”
Her son. How could a woman so small spawn something so towering?
“I’m sorry,” you squeak out and try to shuffle out between the two bodies. A hand grazes across the back of your shoulder blades. You don’t bother to turn back to look at the man. You’re burning hot from the sudden ambush of the woman and the humiliation of being so stupid as to think you could make amends for your friends and try to find a way out. They will laugh at you, see the way you hold yourself together and take it as a chance to tear you apart and break you down, take out their frustrations on you, the situation that they created, always the scapegoat.
The sudden shift from dark to light blinds you a moment as your eyes adjust. You start back to the van, kicking up dust behind you.
“Wait.” The woman steps out of the door and off the porch and moseys on over to you. Long gone is that scorn in her eye, replaced by something kinder. “I’ll call the Sheriff. He might have some gas to spare. I’ll have him come ‘round.”
“Really?” You smile and reach out to her, grabbing her hand in yours. Finally! Something is working out for you. You’re going to be able to get back home and bury this trip and your friends away deep in your memory. This is the last trip, last time you will see them. “Thank you, ma’am. You have no idea how grateful I am.”
“Go on, wait with your friends. It won’t take more than forty minutes for him to get here.”
“Thank you!” You turn back on your heel, feeling lighter than ever.

authors note: sorry this took so damn long, today isn't even my day off and I have been too exhausted to even look at my computer, but I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
Before Randall was too little to be part of his adventures, Marc used to play on his own in the yard.
Usually that entailed kicking a football at the wooden fence that lined their garden, trying to knock it off his chest when it would come bouncing back the way he’d seen the professionals do it, even if it had led to three milk teeth coming loose already.
But there weren’t kids on his street to play with, at least that’s what he thought until the one day he kicked his ball a little too high and watched it fly right over the top of the fence, bouncing into the neighbour's yard, a soft “ouch” meeting his ears.
In minutes, a little head appeared over the wall, beady eyes frowning down at him, and he realised it was a girl around his age, maybe a little younger.
“Did you lose this?” She held up his soccer ball he was worried he was going to have to kiss goodbye to forever, the small digits of her other hand holding onto the fence tightly.
“Yeah! Sorry, I didn’t mean to kick it so high,” Marc said, and with no more explanation than that, she threw it over to his side of the partition, and her tiny head disappeared back below the fence line.
He felt stunned. He knew there were moving boxes over that way a couple weeks ago, but as far as he could see there was only a man living there on his own, a scowl on his face most days. Marc had seen him shouting at the other kids on his block to stop riding their bikes in front of his house because it ‘upset the dog’, though Marc had yet to see for himself this canine friend he was speaking about.
But there was a girl living there! A real life girl who spoke to him; granted he had lobbed a heavy soccer ball at her, from what her distaste told him, and he wondered if perhaps, despite the grumpy look on her face he realised mirrored the man he’d seen living there, that she might like to even make friends with her neighbour.
“Wait!” He yelled, running up to the fence where she had slipped away from him, grabbing on to the top and pulling himself up to the point he was on his very tippy toes and he could only just about see her yard.
The grass was unkempt, which was odd because Marc’s own dad cut the grass every fortnight, and there were planks of wood with nails sticking out of them strewn across the side of the shed she had used to pull herself up with. He fought the urge to cringe in disgust, because there, looking up at him from where she was making a daisy chain in the long, dry grass, alone in a pink plaid shorts and a white, dirt stained top, was the girl.
“Do you want to play?” Marc asked, his foot nearly slipping under him where he was trying to rest it on the wood to take a closer look, “I have tennis, or swing ball we could play?”
She looked interested at the mop of curly, black hair for a moment, before she looked back at the house that he had still yet to see any sign of a dog.
“I’m not sure my dad would like it…” She said cautiously, almost whispering to him, picking the soil under her nails.
“My mom could come around and get you, she could talk to him,” He offered, because this was when his mother was still mom and not Wendy.
Before she had yet to flip his world entirely upside down with her cruel hands and vicious tongue. Before Steven.
She seemed unsure, biting her bottom lip and stroking her arms like she was giving herself a cuddle. But she nodded, looking up at him, and he tried to hide just how excited he was to finally have someone to play with.
“I’m Marc,” He said, grinning at her, his tongue poking between the space where his adult teeth were only just growing back in.
She told him her name back, and it was the first time he understood what a crush was.
“Marc, I’m not sure we should be doing this,” She said, grabbing his hand so tight he thought his heart might explode.
“It’s okay, we come here all the time, don’t we, RoRo?” He reassured, looking back to where Randall, now a few years older and big enough to play with them, held onto the side of the cave, his own face nervous.
“All the time!” The little boy echoed, because Marc knew he had a bit of a thing for her as well, because she was older and cool and smelled like a field of flowers and he hated seeming like he was scared, even though he was.
He was just a kid.
They were just kids.
And being kids, they stumbled into danger without realising it, not even when the rain started coming down outside torrentially and they had to pause their game of pirates to run for cover. They hadn’t expected, in their childish excitement to continue the adventure, that the water would start pooling into the cave; that it would fill up like a basin, whether they were in there or not, and it wasn’t until the screaming started that they realised they were in the kind of danger that required an adult.
Marc was the first one to get out, his hair soaked, his heart racing, and he used a grown up word he heard his dad use sometimes because he could have sworn they were both right behind him.
And if that had been true, then where were they?
He called her name, debated going back in there himself to see where they had gone, then he yelled for RoRo, because she didn’t seem to be answering.
And there was only silence, except a clap of thunder overhead that said the rain was going to get worse; was not going to stop for hours.
Which was when he ran to get his dad.
By the time Elias got there, his glasses wet and steamed, his thick thatch of curls too similar to Marc’s soaked through, all he could see was a head of hair peeking out of the mouth of the cave, and his heart sank.
He dragged her out of the dark water, arms under her shoulders as he rolled her on her front and started patting her back, trying to get her to spit some of the water out, because her face was ice and her skin was soaked and her playsuit was ripped from where she’d snagged it on the rocks.
Marc remembered crying into his hands, gaze flicking back to the cave to see if RoRo was right behind her, if he was just waiting to be pulled out as she had been.
But there was nothing. Nothing but rain water and moss and those damn rocks he’d been gripping onto not an hour earlier.
His heart leapt when she spluttered finally, after his dad had thrown her over his knee and taken to giving her a one handed heimlich right between her shoulder blades. She spat the water out, her body shivering immediately, eyes bleary as they looked around as if she expected to still be in that dark hole in the wall, and Elias set her down on the grass to go look for his youngest son.
“Stay with her, Marc,” He barked, uncharacteristically sharp for him though Marc guessed it was fear, and took off towards the cave again. Marc pulled her into his arms, and it was only then they started wailing together.
They sat there for an hour when the rescue team finally arrived, a medical team with warm hands and even warmer blankets ushering them to the safety of the back of an ambulance, and the last thing Marc remembered for that horrible day was sitting on the stretcher with her pressed against his side, trembling under the reflective wrap they’d been tucked in that made them look like baked potatoes, wishing he had never suggested they go in that damn cave.
“You’re leaving?” She said, her lip quivering, her eyes lined with tears. They sat on his bed, his duffel bag already packed, his acceptance letter burning daggers into his head from his nightstand, “Military? Marc, just think about this for a minute-”
“I have thought about it. I’m not some dumb kid making rash decisions, I want this,” Except he didn’t, not really. What he meant to say was he wanted to leave, to run away and never come back, but the idea of never seeing her again was too difficult to think about.
She thought about it for a moment, and he held her hand when he saw her face really start to crumble then. “If you go, I’ll have no one left. You’re all I have,”
He didn’t hide the fact he saw how nervous she was when Marc would pick her up from her house and her father would see her out the door, a nasty, inebriated glare in his eyes at the Specter boy. He saw all the times she would tiptoe around the floorboards, the way he knew too well, as if she was scared of what would happen if she took up too much space, made too much noise. Or when his mother had been kind, way back before any of this had happened, and had fussed over her pretty hair, had piled food on her plate because Wendy said she needed the goodness, she had locked up entirely and looked at his mother as if she was an alien.
Even now, when they were both seventeen, nearly adults in the grand scheme of things, he knew her father was cruel.
“I’m sorry,” He said honestly, and he felt his own throat clogging up with real emotion he only ever let himself show when he was with her, “When I get a place of my own, I’ll come back here, and we can pack your bags together, and we can live far away from all of this,”
And it sounded like he was spinning her a fantasy; which he was. She felt like an idiot for believing him, for flashing him a small smile and leaning her forehead to his which was the closest they ever got to admitting how they really felt about each other.
He wanted to kiss her then, before he left to start his new life, one where they could be happy together, and he made a promise to himself that when he came back for her that would be the first thing he would do.
He could see it now; he would be in some kind of flashy car with the top rolled down, a man grown from the regime and fitness they would teach him in the army and she would come running to him like an angel parting the clouds, like a dream that was finally within reach, and he would kiss her then, so hard it would make up for the time they had lost, the time they had grieved together, it might even make up for that day she nearly died because of him.
So he left her, that fantasy of coming back to her keeping him going in the months of training, during roll call and exams and the small, clinical portions they would serve him in the military.
But that day never came. Somewhere between losing himself to the alter that had formed and led a full life separately to his, between hiding Steven from the ugly truth and becoming a mercenary after dropping from the army, he tucked the dream away as a what if, and he didn’t return back to that house where his mother had caused so much hell.
Not until the second day of her shiva, that was.
-
“Marc?” He forgot how sweet his name sounded from her lips, and he hated to admit it in the middle of his drunken state, but he’d wished he’d never heard it again in his entire life.
Because the second his front door opened, and a woman in a long black dress, heels and lace gloves stared back at him with a face that looked similar to a girl he once knew, only a notch between her brows that said she had done nothing but frown for twenty years, he wished he had never seen her again.
She was beautiful, more beautiful than he ever gave her credit for, yet she looked tired. Sunken. Like she had wept and screamed alongside all the frowning.
“Marc,” She said it more determined this time, pacing down the stairs to his home, her footsteps rushed and worried, “Are you okay?,”
He knew he must look like a mess. He hadn’t stopped crying for three days since he got the first phone call from his father in almost two decades, since he’d learned his mother had passed, and he was already a bottle of whiskey deep by the time he’d stepped out the cab onto the street he grew up on.
He didn’t know why he hadn’t thought she would be there. He guessed she would be far away from this place, just like he had been, in a mansion with a 401k and a dog and a neurosurgeon for a husband. She had always deserved it.
But here she was, grabbing the bottle out of his hand gently, rubbing a hand over his shoulder like not a day had gone by that they hadn’t seen one another, and it didn’t take him much convincing at all to pull her into a hug he had needed since the day he left.
“My mum’s dead,” Marc said, sounding like a little boy again when he wept into her neck, squeezing her body to his, and he felt her rubbing his back soothingly.
“I know, Marc, I’m so sorry,” She hummed, and she smelled like a fancy floral perfume he couldn’t afford to give her before, “I know you must be feeling complicated,”
He nodded, because he couldn’t have put it better himself. He felt complicated.
“I missed you,” She said, like it was a confession, and he cried harder, his face burying into the crook of her shoulder.
“I missed you too,”
“How’s Steven? Is he still around?” She asked, pulling him away to root through her pocket for the pack of tissues she’d kept handy for the day. He took a deep breath, rubbing his sleeved arm over his face to dry it even the slightest. He could feel his cheeks sopping wet from where he had sobbed in the back of the cab like a madman all the way here.
But she was still fussing over him, and she looked just as pretty as he had remembered her, sitting on his bed that day, if not only a little more tired under her eyes.
Ofcourse she had known about Steven. How else was he supposed to explain the times they would be playing boyfriend-girlfriend together and he would become a different person.
Sometimes Steven would remember her too, because it didn’t matter to her who he was, she was his best friend either way. He remembered a girl who smelled like summer, sitting on the swings and eating ice lollies together, taking it in turns to push each other, blue tongued and happy.
“Yeah, sometimes,” He replied quietly, as she handed him the tissues, “He misses you, too,”
She smiled at him with her lips pressed tightly.
“I take it you’re not coming in?” She said in a careful tone, and he shook his head quickly.
“No- I just can’t,” He said, tears welling up in his eyes in seconds, and she wrapped him in another hug immediately, soothing his hurt as fast as it had bubbled back up.
“Hey, it’s okay, it’s okay, you don’t have to,” She hummed, stroking down his back gently, and he hugged her tightly as if she was the only thing keeping him together.
He opened his mouth to speak when his front door opened again, and he worried for a second that it was Elias.
Instead, he saw a girl no older than five emerge in a cute, poofy dress that met her knees, her hair tucked into a neat braid, lace gloves matching her own as she lingered at the doorway.
And perhaps the thing that struck him the quickest; she was the damn near double of the girl he’d hit in the head with his soccer ball in that very yard.
“Mommy,” The girl said in a gentle coo, her eyes empathetic as she met his gaze, more empathetic than he knew children could feel. But, he supposed, if she was her daughter then it didn’t surprise him in the slightest.
His best friend turned, her face smoothing out into something peaceful when she saw her little girl, and he knew then she was born to be a mother. Nothing like his own, nothing like Wendy, and he cursed himself for not seeing it sooner.
She was a mother.
“Yes, baby?” She said, half stepping towards her child as the girl stumbled down the first step towards them, and she was quick to swoop her into her grasp and onto her hip.
“I need to use the bathroom,” The girl said shyly, peeking a glance at him over her mum’s shoulder, and she waved at him with tiny fingers.
He waved back, even if the sight of her had dumped a bucket of cold water all over his body.
“Alright, baby. Just wait in the foyer, I’ll come take you in just a second, I’m just speaking to my friend right now,” She said, stroking over the back of the girl’s hair softly, and kissing her chubby cheek. “Is that okay?”
She nodded, and her mum kissed her once more, plopping her back on the top step to direct her back into the house. And they were alone again.
She looked at him guiltily, stepping back towards him as she fiddled with her sleeves nervously, “I’m sorry, I couldn’t get childcare and I don’t really know anyone in state anymore-”
“No, it-it’s fine,” He stammered, feeling her watching him for his reaction carefully, “What’s her name?”
“Dalilah,” She replied, rubbing hands up her arms to calm herself.
“Where’s her dad?” Marc asked, hoping he didn’t sound bitter, but the whiskey made it sound like a bite.
She shrugged, “He wanted the cars and the house when we split; I wanted her,” She said calmly, like it wasn’t one bomb after another to be dropped on him.
He knew nothing about her life. He had tried to run away from that promise he’d made her for twenty years, because he knew he would never be good enough for her; that he could never give her the happiness she deserved, even before he had become the Moon Knight.
At his core, he would rot her, ruin her. He would destroy her.
And yet hearing it was just the two of them alone, he felt like he could take out the piece of shit who ran out on them barehanded and go home to sleep next to her soundly.
He felt like perhaps, as much grief and anguish as returning back to that house had caused him, perhaps this was his second chance. His chance to be what she needed, to be something good.
He would be so good to them. He would give them everything if she asked.
“I’m not really in town much, especially with my dad still around,” She said, gesturing to where her yard still stood, full of junk and a dog that had supposedly been kicking strong for two decades, “But I would love to see you again. Lila has school most days so you’re free to come over any day of the week if you want it to be just us; I work at home,” She scribbled an address about two hours away down on a piece of paper, along with her phone number, handing it to his distraught face with a sad smile, somewhat hopeful he would take the olive branch she was shaking his way.
He took it with a nod, his bottom lip still trembling before he bit it hard enough to force it to stop. He would love to see her, if he would even allow himself something good. If he would just let go of the resentment for everything that reminded him of that time, he could see the two of them healing one another slowly, but surely.
She could fix him. And he could fix her. The way it had always been with them.
“Yeah, I’d love that,” Marc said softly, allowing her to grab him tightly one more time, “I really did miss you,”
She laughed, not properly more like a sad breath out, squeezing him to her, “I loved you so much. I never let you go, you know that?”
He tried not to sob, almost holding her so maddeningly hard she couldn’t ever leave.
But he had to let go eventually, and he watched her walk back up the stairs to where his family mourned, her face glinting with something hopeful, holding a flashlight out to him where he was walking around in the dark blindly.
He tried to smile back, though he knew it wouldn’t be the same, wouldn't be truly untouched by the grief he wallowed in.
And by the time he got back to his hotel room, alone, even more drunk, Khonshu had another job for him that would whisk him away for two weeks. But he kept her number, the piece of paper gripped in his hand tight, like he was determined to keep his promise this time around.
He dialled her number exactly fifteen days later, his body aching, his nose bloodied, but something lighter in his chest at the prospect of seeing her again. The light in his dark, the girl on the swings he’d once pretended to marry during their game of house (the rings had been tiny daisy chains she’d woven together just that morning, their officiant was Randall who could barely ride a bike let alone remember the vows he was supposed to say.)
Only when the phone got put through, a different woman answered, and the light flickered back out into something cold and dark and vengeful.
“Oh, oh god, you haven’t heard?” He swallowed thickly, “She was hit by a drunk driver last week picking Lila up from school,” The woman, her cousin, explained, her voice teary and solemn, and he didn’t doubt she’d had to make a thousand of these calls the past few days, “They said it was quick, and Lila went fast so she wasn’t in any pain- and she was only in the ambulance for ten minutes before her heart stopped so she wasn’t hurting long either-”
But he put the phone down, his eyes wide, his body numb, his chest empty and lonely.
Because the very last bit of good in him was gone; because everything he touched was cursed and tainted from the offset.
It took what felt like twenty cups of whiskey for him to black out that night, he knew sleep would evade him, he knew not to even bother trying. And Jake Lockely woke up for him, something mean and hateful in the black of his eyes.
He didn’t care who, but someone was going to pay for his cielo being taken from them.

The Pevensie kids are otherwordly in more ways than the naked eye reveals.
For starters, with all the years they have spent around great cats, they are absolutely silent when they walk. They can stalk and prowl like no one's business, and once, when a girl pissed off Lucy, she showed her her teeth.
When a shrink asks her why she is scared of cats, so many years later , she remembers the white flash in the schoolyard, the sudden certainty of death.
Second of all, they don't seem to leave footprints in snow. In the winters of Narnia, magic was all around Cair Paravel, benign spirits showing them how to leave no traces, go unseen in the great white. Some swear they move without touching the earth. No one is sure enough to rebutt them.
The Pevensies are unbeatable in snowball fights. Especially Susan can throw like a honkball pitcher, able to single out and pick off targets that should be out of reach.
When the boys drink alcohol for the first time, at ages 17 and 15, they turn out to have great tolerance, something no one their age should have. Yet Peter and Edmund can beat anyone in a drinking game. Narnian spirits were strong (pun intented), so they do not find this feat particularly challenging. And no one understands how Susan puts away bottles and bottles of wine without ever slurring her words or losing her razor sharp mind.
The boys that keep pouring her more wine, hoping to take her home drunk, leave disappointed every night. Susan knows what's up. She's been forced to sit through boring diplomatic dinners with alcohol as her only interesting companion, is used to men trying to take advantage when she drinks. She will not be tricked by school boys.
They have a tolerance for other substances, too.
When someone gets the bright idea to roofie Lucy at age 16, he ends up with a nail through his foot, hanging from the highest tree in London.
Lucy shows up the next day with dirt under her nails and a hammer in her backpack. The teachers take one look at Peter, who stares back with a glare that could refreeze Narnia, and decide not to say a word.
They're all insanely strong swimmers. Susan won prizes before, but now she's breaking records. Edmund saves a man twice his weight from drowing, dragging him along across a cold lake for half a mile.
No one understands how the scrawny, 5"9 kid pulled that off. Or how he manages to hold his breath for so long.
And then there is the question of their minds.
Suddenly, Edmund can beat even the most experienced men in chess. He goes on to become champion of the region and then of the whole of England.
Peter, once a mediocre student, is now a stunningly good writer. When his professor reads his essay for Ethics, he weeps, something that has never happened before. Many see a future in academia for him.
Susan becomes known as the best problem solver in school. She's able to resolve many conflicts, not in the least because she's so attractive men stop thinking about fighting the second she steps into a room. But underneath the beauty resides a smooth operator. Her professors don't doubt for a second she'll be a brilliant politician.
Lucy no longer has the child like innocence from before the war. Her sense of wonder never left her, though. The centaurs have taught her astronomy, and looking at the stars reminds her of Narnia, one of the few things that are the same. The boarding school telescope goes missing an awful lot, as does she. Often, her brothers and sister come along, especially on bright nights. They never get caught.
They've changed. And they hold onto these pieces of Narnia, because it is all they have left.

it's you and me (7)
TEEN!gojo x FEM!reader - soulmate AU
TW⚠: highly suggestive, oral mentioned, needy gojo, clingy gojo
a/n: guess who's back... Back again.
Tumblr media
Satoru closed his eyes; utter darkness - his soulmate was sleeping then, but he kept his eyes closed for a couple of more seconds, even in darkness he could sense curses.
Nothing, she was safe.
He sighed as he opened his eyes and thought back to his last conversation with Suguru.
"Haven't you realized how much of a burden ______ is to you?" Suguru's voice carried through the crowd, "Spending every waking moment worried about her miserable existence."
Satoru dug his nails into his palms, "Don't spout that bullshit!"
Suguru tilted his head down like he was speaking to a child, "It's true," he said, "she's weak and she will always be weak - is that the life you want, Satoru?" He cocked his head to the side, "To always bend over backwards for someone who will never understand you?"
Satoru glared.
"She's a pest -"
Enough, Satoru had, had enough; "So fucking what?!" he yelled, "None of that shit matters!"
Suguru sighed, ' ' How childish. ' '
Satoru gritted his teeth, he wasn't being childish Suguru was - killing all non-sorcerers what type of crazy crackpot mission statement was that? An impossible thing to do -
"How arrogant," Suguru said with his back turned to him, "you could do it, but you're telling me that it's impossible."
Satoru frowned as he buried his face in his pillow - fucking crazy.
"Go near her again and I'll - ." He couldn't finish the sentence... He didn't know if he could kill his best friend.
Those were Gojo Satoru's last words to Geto Suguru.
He raised his face from his pillow and grabbed his sunglasses from the nightstand - he didn't want to be alone.
Long distance travel had become easier for him. There were times when he got lost but now, Satoru was in his soulmate's dark room with minimal effort. He slipped into bed beside her carefully as to not wake her up. He slowly and gently wrapped his arms around her and lightly pressed her back to his chest. Satoru kissed the top of her head with a soft smile and as much as he wanted to kiss her lips, he didn't; he didn't want to wake her.
Eventually, Satoru's senses were drowned in his soulmate's presence. He slept with his light snores filling the silent bedroom.
______ shouldn't have been surprised when she woke up in the tight and tangled embrace of her soulmate's limbs. This wasn't the first time he has sneaked into her bedroom when she was asleep, but ever since Suguru, Satoru had begun to do it more often.
She frowned at the thought of her former friend, at how sweet he used to be, at how understanding he was of everyone, only to be replaced by a cruel shell of him, or perhaps, Suguru was always that person and they were all simply not paying attention.
No, the Suguru she knew would never use her insecurities against her, the Suguru she knew would never abandon Satoru in such a callous way.
She'll never forget it, the look of pure disgust when he faced her like she was dirt under his shoe. The way he let the curses blood drip on the floor, or the way his smile lifted itself into something cruel when she flinched away from him, satisfied that he had frightened her.
At least, when she closed her eyes she would see what Satoru saw, instead of Suguru, but her dreams - no, her nightmares were plagued.
She ran her fingers through Satoru's hair, he hummed in his sleep - shifting his head towards her touch, still seeking her warmth in his sleep despite holding her so closely already.
She didn't tell Satoru what happened, only that Suguru had come by and was acting weird, but nothing about what he had said to her. Satoru already looked so tired when he came the morning after, even if he tried to hide it from her with a bright smile. If she told him it would only cause him more pain, and Satoru told her most of what happened. Geto Suguru defected, he massacred an entire village, and decided his own path - Satoru didn't tell her about the conversation they had about her.
How could he? She had already once pulled away from him because she wasn't a jujutsu sorcerer and like hell was he going to spark that up again.
A phone rang loudly besides her, but it was not the phone that woke up Satoru, it was her untangling herself from that did.
He groaned softly as he held onto her tighter, "Answer it later."
______ stretched her body towards the nightstand to grab the phone, "It's your phone that's ringing, 'toru."
Satoru groaned louder, who the fuck is it?
She passed his phone to him.
The moment he flipped it open, someone was yelling. Something along the lines of - Where are you?! The higher ups are looking for you?!
Satoru almost crushed the phone like a tin can when he was told that he needed to go on a mission. He hung up abruptly as he buried his face into her neck and whined loudly.
She kissed his temple, "Another out of town mission?"
Satoru nodded.
She lightly scratched the back of his neck, "Isn't there another special grade sorcerer who can take the mission?"
Satoru kissed her collarbones, "Nope, just me." He looked up at her, "I'll make it quick." He leaned up and kissed her deeply.
Four Days Later
She thought Satoru would need time, or at least space. She may have lost a friend, but Satoru; Satoru had lost someone who unequivocally understood him. Geto Suguru, who stood at the top beside him, not below him.
Time, she thought, he would need time. Satoru had just lost someone so important in his life, he would no doubt distance himself from her.
Satoru slipped his cold hands under her shirt and sighed as he buried his face in her neck pressing light kisses on her skin.
She was wrong.
Instead of distancing himself like she thought he would, Satoru had become unavoidable. Where she was, he was with his arms tight around her waist, coiling like a serpent.
His kisses were rougher and longer. She had to forcefully pull his soft hair to pry his lips away from her just so she could breathe. Breathing seemed optional for her boyfriend now too, after prying his mouth off of her, he would latch his lips onto another part of her skin, until she regained her breath and Satoru would needly kiss her again.
Today was no different, despite her telling him that she had so much homework to do that she couldn't keep putting it off to spend the day with him.
"I'll be good," he said.
"You won't even know that I'm there," he said.
This was her fault, really, he never kept his word, especially when his latest mission ran longer than expected and he hadn't seen her in four days.
Satoru squeezed her thighs and spread them apart to fit his body against hers, pinning her down with his entire body. His glasses laid neatly on the side of the bed, her notebooks and pencils were thrown on the floor, completely forgotten by Satoru, but not from her.
Satoru kissed like a man starved, but she needed to breathe, like many times before, she gripped his hair and pulled roughly. She learned a while ago that she had to put force to pry him off, otherwise he wouldn't budge. He chased her lips, but she kept his head firmly in place.
Satoru whined, "Come on, baby," his hands slid under her skirt, "I haven't seen you in a week."
She huffed and puffed, still trying to catch her breath, "It was four days, 'toru."
"Might as well have been an eternity," Satoru leaned down and pressed a kiss on her jawline.
She smoothed her fingertips to brush his hair, "I really need to finish my homework."
He bunched up her skirt up to her waist and placed his palm flat on her stomach, "After I get a taste."
Satoru gripped her thighs and buried his face in her core.
She tangled her fingers in his snowy white hair and hoped that her door was locked, hoped that the bakery was so full of people that no one could hear them.
This would not end with him just getting a 'taste'.
Shameless is what Gojo Satoru was. Completely, and utterly shameless. After he was done, not without stealing one more breathtaking kiss from her, he warped in front of the store and waved at her mother gleefully - pretending like he hadn't been there all along. Helping her mother around the store, acting like he hadn't just defiled her daughter a few seconds ago, like he couldn't still taste his soulmate's sweet slick on his tongue.
Her mom liked Satoru. He helped around and Satoru was good at everything even if he ate half the batter and cookie dough - he still was a good baker and he bought so many baked goods from the store that any batter that he ate was reimbursed when he splurged.
"Treating my daughter well?" Her mom asks him everyday.
And Satoru always replies with a bright grin that showed off his pearly white teeth, "Like a princess."
______ finally heads down stairs after fixing her skirt and shirt, making sure to cover the hickeys Satoru left on her with concealer. He never had to face any consequences or worry about being marked. His reverse curse technique healed him of everything... even hickeys. Which was incredibly annoying but just poked fun at her before leaving more hickeys on her neck before teleporting off with that stupid smirk of his.
Satoru places a small kiss on her temple. Her legs still trembled from their quickie earlier but she hid it well by sitting down and making raspberry jam.
Her mom orders them to make a set amount of raspberry filled pastries and gives Satoru a firm look, "And no eating any of them."
Satoru straightens his back comically and salutes her, "Yes, ma'am!"
Her mom looked at him until she left and disappeared to tend to customers.
Satoru went straight to trying to eat one.
______ scolds, "Gojo Satoru."
He stiffens and gives her a warm smile, "Please?"
"No, put it down."
Satoru pouts and whines before dragging himself towards her, "Can I get a kiss instead?"
"Sure," she says but stays weary. "But only a small one."
Satoru practically bounces into her arms. The kiss was not small. It was full and long, and worst of all, he slipped his tongue in.
He was greedy, so greedy.
Before she could tug on his soft hair, he pulled away and shoved a pastry into his mouth with shit eating grin.
... And a tease. A fucking tease.

a/n: whew, this one is a doozy. the original plan was to write something fluffy, but then i wrote this instead 🥲 based on moments from kill bill vol. 1 and sin city, and the title is from the song self control by laura branigan! please lmk if i missed anything in the warnings and i’ll add it asap. it’s a lot darker than my last fic, but i’ve always wanted to write this story, so i hope you enjoy! as always, thoughts and feedback are always appreciated 💕
Tumblr media
You can’t see. You can’t hear anything at all. Numbness permeates your limbs, and your thoughts are a mishmash of gnashing teeth and nails, sharp and jagged like claws, and so, so much red.
There’s something warm and sticky on your face and hands. It’s up your nose, trickling into your open mouth, and it tastes like salt and iron. Blood…it must be blood. You hope it’s your own but, in the dark recesses of your mind, you know it’s someone else’s. It tastes all wrong, like the fact that you’re tasting it all means you’re alive and you really shouldn’t be.
He’s yelling, or at least you think it’s him. Sound returns to your ears all at once and it’s fucking loud.
Joel, stop, it hurts.
Everything hurts so much now, and you feel it everywhere—scratches down your arms and legs, your heart slamming an angry beat against your temples.
Fuck, you’re probably bit. Joel sounds frantic and terrified, but you don’t know why. There are massive gaps in your memory and you can’t remember how you got here, knees heavy on the ground, your thighs bracketing the sides of a dead clicker.
A woman—you think it used to be a woman. It’s hard to tell after the carnage. The fragments of bone and wet chunks of flesh and fungus where her head should be tell a different story now. You desperately wish your sight hadn’t returned at all, but it’s too late and you can’t unsee it. You can’t unsee her.
The muscles in your arms and hands burn something vicious, and when they give out, something hard clangs to the ground. A metal pipe.
Joel calls out to you again, and he sounds closer this time.
“...go…have to go now…can’t…here…”
Strong hands tug on your arm and pull you to your feet, and suddenly you’re running. Joel is all but dragging you out of what looks like the living room of a modern, suburban home, and you do your best not to trip on tipped-over furniture.
You look back over your shoulder and the body is still lying there, lifeless. You’re not sure why you thought it would be chasing you, hungry mouth snapping at your throat; it’s dead. Because you killed it.
You’re exhausted and your legs are sore, but when you start to slow down, Joel’s hand tightens around yours and tugs harder.
“We have to go, baby, we can’t stay here.” Ah, that’s what he was saying before. “I know it hurts, but you gotta keep goin’. Just a little longer, you gotta keep it up for a little bit longer.” He should be out of breath by now, but he’s running on fear and adrenaline, and you let it fuel you, too.
When you make it outside, the sky is a clear, cloudless blue above you and the sun is brighter than you’ve ever seen it. It makes your skin itch, and you’re suddenly hyperaware of the dirt and dried blood matting your hair and caked under your fingernails.
Instinctively, your hand rises to shield your eyes. It’s effective enough that you’re able to take in your surroundings as they fly by and, while they’re familiar, you still can’t remember what you were doing here in the first place.
“Joel, I’m…I-I’m—I can’t. I can’t run anymore, p-please—,” you whimper, chest heaving with exertion. House, driveway, lawn—they repeat over and over and over again. They’re starting to blur together, and your tunneling vision worsens until darkness consumes you. “...Joel…”
And then everything goes black.
Tumblr media
You’re…surrounded. By something that feels soft and warm and solid against your aching skin, and it moves steadily against you, rising and falling. Your head tilts to the side and it’s Joel breathing into you, his head at home in the crook of your neck, arms wrapped loosely around you.
You nuzzle your nose into his graying hair, pressing a kiss there, and a sharp intake of breath follows as he blinks awake blearily.
“Hey, baby,” you murmur. He hums something deep and unintelligible in response, tilting his head back to mouth wetly at the base of your throat.
You let out a sigh of relief. If Joel’s in bed with you like this, it means you’re not infected. Hurt and in pain, yes, but you’re both alive and that’s all that matters. You saved his life out there and you’d do it all over again, even at the cost of your own.
Your memories are returning quickly now, like waves violently crashing to shore after a storm, and the images are gruesome. What you did to protect Joel was barbaric, but you acted on impulse, out of rage and desperation.
The clicker came out of nowhere. You were searching an abandoned house for supplies when it lunged out of a closet, tackling Joel to the ground. The metal pipe in his hand clattered to the ground at your feet and you picked it up as quickly as it fell.
Then, something inside you snapped and you reacted. It was dead after the second or third blow to the head, but you kept going anyway, angry at it for almost stealing Joel away and destabilized by the fear of losing him.
Blood sprayed from every artery you severed and after each new crack in its skull, and it showered down like rain, thick and warm against your skin. It made you feel powerful, like you were in control for the first time in your life. You enjoyed it.
Only when you realized the pipe was connecting with wet, dented pieces of floorboard instead of flesh did you finally stop.
You remember everything now.
“I’m not sorry,” you tell him, staring vacantly at the popcorn ceiling of your bedroom. He sighs, and you think he’s about to start lecturing you. You don’t want to hear it. You barely want to talk about it at all. “You could’ve died, Joel. If you think for one second I’d ever let that happen, you’re out of your mind.”
He squeezes you a little tighter, mindful of your injuries, but doesn’t respond. Silence blankets you for a moment, and then it breaks once he realizes you’re trembling and your eyes and cheeks are wet with tears.
You’re not sure when you started crying, but you can’t seem to stop, and the frustration in his eyes lessens with each soft hiccup that escapes your lips.
“Sweetheart,” he starts, thumbing away the tears as they fall. He leaves his hand there, gently cupping your cheek, and you lean into his touch. You can feel the fight leaving his body; it’s just not worth it anymore, not after everything you’ve been through. Sighing, he drops his head to rest on your collarbone. “There’s nothin’ to be sorry for. I shoulda been payin’ more attention, been more cautious. Then, you wouldn’t have had to…you wouldn’t be—” He’s fumbling his words. Joel’s never been good at conversations like these, but he’s trying. “...I’m tryna say it’s not your fault. You did what you had to.”
It’s not his fault, either. In the aftermath of everything, no one’s to blame, but it doesn’t help how much it still hurts. How broken you feel.
“Joel, I—,” the tears flow freely and you struggle to suppress a sob. “I’m a monster. You saw what I did…I just—I couldn’t stop. I know she wasn’t a person anymore, I know that, but…b-but I think I liked it. What does that say about me; what does that make me?” You’re spiraling now. He shifts up the bed to hold you properly and rocks you against his chest for a while, like he’s soothing a child.
“It makes you human,” he murmurs into your hair, running his hands up and down your sides. Your eyes flutter closed as you focus on the feeling of his warm, calloused fingers on your skin.
“I’m scared, Joel,” you whisper. “Whatever that was, it feels like it’s a part of me now—like…I’ll be fighting it forever.” His eyes darken, even as he kisses the side of your head gently once, then twice. “I close my eyes and she’s there. I can hear her, feel her. I…I feel like I’m losing my mind.”
That fucking neighborhood. Why the fuck were you even in that neighborhood? There wasn’t even anything useful in any of those houses. You try to tell yourself that all of it could’ve been avoided, if you had just decided to head straight back to Jackson, but it’s a fantasy. In this world, it was inevitable.
Joel still hasn’t answered you. Instead, he presses his lips to your throat again, this time with teeth, and sucks hard where your neck meets your shoulder. You should be wondering why he’s not responding when you’re so clearly distraught, but the only thing you can think about is the delicious pain blooming under your skin. When he finally speaks, it’s a low hum against the fresh bruise.
“I never wanted this for ya,” he nips at you sharply, his beard dragging roughly against your sensitive skin, and you gasp, burying your fingers in his hair and tugging. He groans, hips stuttering into your thigh, and the need to feel him bare and heavy on top of you is overwhelming. “I tried to protect ya—wanted to save you from this. All of it. But I failed ya.” There’s anger in his voice now, and it feels violent. He’s aggressive in the way he touches you, and though you know he’d never purposely hurt you, you think you want him to. “This world takes and takes and takes, and we’re forced to adapt,” he all but growls. “You’re no more a monster than anyone else.”
Rationally, you know it’s true. The bloodlust you feel—you’ve seen it before, in the eyes of raiders you’ve come across on the outside and in the hungry gaze of infected, all of them desperate to tear into you, to take what they want. Looking into Joel’s eyes now, you see it there, too.
The room feels hotter, somehow, like his body heat suddenly spiked, and it draws you in like a moth to a flame. You press your hand into the soft skin of his stomach and it burns like molten lava, begging you to play with fire.
He snatches your hand from where it’s splayed beneath his shirt and drags it under the waistband of his sweatpants to cup his hardening cock, and you suck in a harsh breath through your teeth. Fuuuuuck. You’re not in charge here, you realize, not now.
“Tonight, I want you to give in to me, alright? You let me take control. ‘m gonna fix it,” he grits out. “Gonna fix everythin’, just need you to trust me,” and you do. You’ll let yourself go, because even though that dark, horrible part of you doesn’t want to submit to him, your body clearly does. It’s a power struggle you hope you lose.
His hand doesn’t leave yours once it’s wrapped around him and, instead, leads your fingers to grip him tightly as he sets a strong, steady pace. You give him a rough squeeze, and he throbs, leaking a bead of precum onto your fingers that you thumb over his head, digging your nail into the slit.
Joel chokes out a moan, hand releasing yours to bury itself in your hair, and begins to fuck your fist in earnest, each thrust punctuated with a sharp exhale. It’s like gripping steel, hard and smooth and searing.
Or a metal pipe. Fucking hell, he feels so much like that fucking metal pipe and you clench down around nothing, your cunt soaked and devastatingly empty. More precum leaks from the tip, and he’s so wet now, your palm sliding easily up his cock and back down to squeeze the base.
It makes you see red—viscous, red blood coating your fingers, and you release him, pulling your hand away to suck it off each one. It’s not real. Of course, it’s not real. The creamy liquid on your fingers tastes like Joel, bitter and heady, but still, you can’t get the thought of his blood in your mouth out of your head now.
God, that’s so fucked up. You must look half crazed right now, pupils blown wide as you look up at him through your lashes,  each glistening finger pulling from your mouth with a pop.  But he looks angry at what he sees in your eyes, and suddenly both of his hands are on your hips and he’s slamming you onto your back, pressing you into the mattress with his entire weight. You’re not following his rules.
“Baby…baby,” he moans, finally brushing his lips against yours, soft and wet, and licking a line across the roof of your mouth as he grinds into your aching pussy. “Stop fightin’ me. Just…focus on me, right here. Lemme make you feel good.” You whine pathetically into his mouth as he runs his hands up your sides, fingers catching on your shirt and dragging up until his thumbs brush the underside of your tits.
Lifting your shirt up just enough to expose your pebbling nipples, he leans back on his heels and looks down at you hungrily, like he wants to devour you whole. And fuck, you need him to. But you also want to take and take and take, itching for the fight.
His head lolls to the side as he takes you in. “Fuck, baby…,” he mumbles, as he drops a hand to palm himself. “You’re so goddamn beautiful like this. So good for me, my—” He pauses to squeeze his cock, and groans out, “...my brave, strong girl.”
There’s a massive wet patch on the front of his sweatpants from where you soaked him through your underwear, and his eyes roll back when he feels it, warm and sticky against his fingertips. Your mouth waters and you’re starting to feel a little desperate now that he’s stopped touching you. You don’t even notice the whine that escapes your lips as he continues to jerk himself off through the fabric.
“What, brave girl?” he coos, biting back a growl at the warring emotions on your pretty features. He reaches forward to thumb a nipple, his touch rough and calloused. “I promised I’d make ya feel good, didn’t I?” He tweaks it and you keen, hips canting upward in search of friction. “Feels that good, huh?” he rasps, smug at how your body responds to him.
A strong hand forces your hips back onto the bed, trapping you against the mattress, and you feel a sudden, intense urge to slap him. Heat blooms in your lower belly and you feel yourself gush at the thought. “Joel…fuck, just fucking touch me. Please.”
The sides of his mouth quirk down and he nods, like he’s thinking it over. Asshole. You know you’re still breaking his rules but, by now, you’re too horny to care. You don’t think sex with Joel has ever been like this, nor do you think you’ve ever been this turned on in your life. Christ, if he doesn’t fuck you soon—
You lurch forward to tug at his pants in a moment of weakness, but he’s quicker than you and snatches your wrists, pinning them above your head. The scratches on your arms are still raw and angry, and the skin pulls painfully as he tightens his hold. It’s another reminder of earlier today, and you muster up all of the strength in your body to rip your arms out of his grip, but he shoves you down by your shoulders.
“If you keep that up, I’m not gonna give you this,” he warns you, flipping the waistband of his pants down just enough to free his cock, thick and leaking all over itself. Your thighs squeeze together at the sight of it, and you abruptly feel remorseful, ready to beg for it if you have to.
Fuck, he’s powerful. And fuck, his tactic is working. The power struggle you hoped you’d lose—you’re pretty sure you just lost. You can tell the moment Joel recognizes acceptance on your face and, immediately, you’re being yanked onto your hands and knees, ass in the air and face smushed on one side against the mattress. He’s rewarding you.
It’s like his hands are laser-focused and, yet, still everywhere all at once.
“Brave girl,” he murmurs, mouthing a wet trail down your spine. “That’s my girl—g-good, good girl.” He’s already starting to stutter, his voice breathless and shaky. Joel gets mouthy when he’s pussy-drunk, like he just can’t help but verbalize every filthy, incoherent thought when he’s inside you.
You clench in anticipation as he grinds his painfully hard cock into your ass, precum soaking into your underwear and mixing with your own slick. He slides the offending fabric halfway down your thighs and then stops, and you can feel his breath, hot and humid, against your cunt as he spreads your legs for better access.
He wastes no time licking a wide stripe up your sopping core before swirling his tongue against your clit and sucking hard. It punches a moan out of your chest and your mind goes blank as you grind back into his mouth. The sound of skin slapping roughly against skin reaches your ears and you realize he’s jerking himself off as he devours you, groaning raggedly as he fucks into you with his tongue.
What the fuck, you’re so fucking close already. Frantic, you reach out to Joel behind you, managing to tug a fistful of his hair. “J-Joel…ngh, fuck, ‘m gonna cum,” you whine pathetically, drooling onto the sheets. “I can’t…I— please, ‘m so empty. Don’t make me c-cum empty, Joel.”
It happens so fast. Your entire body is thrown forward with the weight of him, as he sheathes himself in your heat to the hilt in one violently powerful thrust, and oh, oh fuck, you’ll never get used to how big Joel is. The stretch is almost painful and you bear down on him, not expecting the sudden intrusion.
“Baby…girl. Squeezin’ me so tight, so f-fucking tight,” he moans helplessly, already starting to babble as he fucks into you. “Fuck, your pussy gets s-so tight when you’re…,” he reaches around to rub circles into your clit and you start to pulse around him, “about—ngh, to cum.”
With his other hand, he grips the back of your neck, squeezing just enough to remind you who’s in control; of your pleasure, of your safety. The new angle drives his cock directly into that soft, spongy spot inside you that has your jaw dropping, staccatoed moans punched out of your lungs with each thrust.
“‘m gonna cum. Fuuck, fuck, ‘m cumming…Joel, ‘m—,” your pussy convulses hard, and you soak his cock as you cum with a hoarse shout. Joel growls over your shoulder, slamming into you over and over, your pussy squelching loud and wet.
Your arms and legs give out, and Joel grips your hips with both hands, hovering above your ass as he fucks into you, thrusts harder and more frantic. He’s so close, the telltale signs obvious to you, now.
He barely has time to choke out a panicked, “where?” and hear you moan, “on my face,” before he’s thrusting once, twice, and pulling out, rolling you over and bracketing your head with his thighs. You rub your hands up and down them as he jerks himself off above you. For a moment, he gazes down at you in wonder, like maybe you’re a beautiful figment of his imagination, and then he’s cumming hard.
Joel sounds wrecked, his groan long and drawn out, as his cock spurts thick ropes across your lips and tongue, dribbling down your chin and onto your chest. Shifting down your body, he kisses you deeply, licking into your mouth and tasting himself on your tongue. He pulls away, cradling your face in his hands.
“I told you I’d fix it.”
Tumblr media
And he did. He put your broken pieces back together and overwrote your bad memories.
Now, all you see, all you can hear is Joel. Your thoughts are a mishmash of searing hot skin, his lips, soft and wet against yours, and mind-numbing pleasure.
Your skin is still warm and sticky with his release, and it tastes so undeniably like him. Woody and salty, and right.
It’s quiet, now—peaceful—and everything doesn’t hurt so much anymore.
Strong arms pull you close and you sigh, tired and relieved, into his embrace. Joel holds you tighter as you drift off to sleep, murmuring something you don’t quite catch against your cheek, and you feel safe.
From the monsters beyond the walls and the one in the mirror.

mualani tilts her head, bouncing on her toes. "so, ajaw..." she has that look of faux innocence, one that lets kinich know that she's up to something—something he decidedly wants no part of. "you know a lot about kinich, don't you?"
ajaw groans. "unwillingly. i try not to pay attention to him." it shoots him a glare, as though trying to rile him up, but as usual, it has no effect.
mualani giggles. "well, i actually wanted to know about his weaknesses."
this gets ajaw's attention. it perks up instantly, hurrying closer to mualani. "what, you want a list? i could come up with one for you. he doesn't like water, to start."
she waves her hands in front of her. "no, no, i meant—huh?" she turns to kinich, who is trying to act like he's not associated with either of them; which doesn't fool anyone, considering there's no one else around. "you don't like water?"
kinich crosses his arms, turning his head away. "only when it comes to drinking it. it's bland and tasteless."
mualani giggles. "well, let's trade then. i'll drink your water if you drink my milk, how's that?" she returns her attention to ajaw. "but, anyway, i meant more like..." she taps her fingers together, thinking. "he's always so composed, you know? i want something that'll make him break, i guess."
kinich really doesn't like this now. he's not sure what ajaw will say, but whatever it is, it can't be good. "don't—"
"hmmmm..." ajaw flits around kinich, studying him with narrowed eyes. "that's a hard one. sometimes i wonder if he even has emotions."
mualani walks over to join it. with two pairs of eyes boring into him, kinich squirms uncomfortably, his skin prickling.
"break his legs," ajaw suggests, "that's gotta make him cry. let me watch."
"i'd...rather not hurt him," mualani rubs the back of her neck.
"boring!" cries ajaw, rolling its eyes. "what's the point, then?"
kinich shuffles away, trying to escape from the two of them, but it's not easy when they're both focused entirely on him. "this is stupid. let's go."
"i know!" exclaims ajaw, almost excited, and an uneasy feeling churns in kinich's gut. he really doesn't like where this is heading. "if you don't wanna hurt him, just tickle him."
kinich's eyes widen and he swats ajaw away. "i'm not ticklish. that's pointless."
ajaw flickers away from his hand. "nuh uh! hey, mualani, just go for his—"
"go to hell," hisses kinich, cheeks colouring despite his attempts to repress it. he manages to finally get rid of ajaw, for now, at least. he turns back to mualani, who has a terrifyingly mischievous glint in her eyes.
"you're ticklish?"
"no." he tries to back away, but she only follows him.
she reaches for him, then, latching on to his sides just above his hips. he wants to struggle, to jump away and never show his face again, but he likes her and she looks so damn excited about this. too happy for someone who's about to torment him.
and he laughs. he can't help it, with the way her thumbs are kneading at the clusters of nerves at his hipbones. he tries, briefly, to hold it in, but it all comes rushing out faster than he can do anything about it. he tries to push her hands away as his knees buckle, but his strength is being sapped away from him, so instead he just grabs at handfuls of grass, getting dirt under his nails. all his senses are screaming at him to make it stop.
but, even though kinich is the one being tickled, mualani's smile rivals his. she fawns over him and teases him and every word from her mouth is making him feel like he's on fire.
an irritatingly familiar voice chimes in from above. "eh, cute's not the word i'd use to describe him. but if you make him laugh until he dies, i can't complain."
"f-fuhuhuck ohohoff!" kinich cries, desperate and overwhelmed, but mualani keeps tickling and she keeps teasing and it's all so much, way too much.
but if it keeps mualani grinning like that, he thinks he can grow to like it.

A Shot Right Through Into a Bolt of Blue
Written for the @steddieangstyaugust prompt “Temporary Character Death” | wc: 605 | rated: T | cw: temporary character death, vomiting | tags: AU, canon-divergent, what if Steve took Eddie’s place, pre-relationship, canon-typical violence and gore, hopeful ending | title from “Bizarre Love Triangle” by New Order
Keeping this one short and sweet so I can post it while it’s still the 11th in my time zone 😬
———
It’s not a surprise to anyone when Steve insists on staying with Dustin for their mission back to the Upside Down. The kid is like a little brother to him, and Steve’s mile-wide protective streak isn’t about to let him out of his sight. They’ll balance each other out, he argues. The brains and the brawn. It just makes sense.
So Eddie goes with the girls and tries to throw Molotov cocktails like he’s done this before. He stands there and watches Vecna burn and feels something like pride, like a promise fulfilled. This is for Chrissy.
But then Dustin comes on the radio, hysterical and incomprehensible, and any thoughts of victory are erased.
By the time they get there and find Dustin kneeling in the dirt with Steve propped up in his lap, Eddie’s stomach is in his throat and he’s shaking from running all the way here and he just knows they’re too late. It’s like reliving the horror of Chrissy being broken apart right before his eyes.
Unlike before, Eddie doesn’t run. He does something even worse.
He freezes.
He stands there uselessly as Robin tries to comfort Dustin while he wails on the ground. Her eyes are dry but there’s no light behind them, her spirit snuffed out with her platonic soulmate’s death.
He watches Nancy take stock of Steve’s injuries with her typical no-nonsense attitude, finding the spots where he’s bleeding the most, using her belt as a tourniquet, trying to figure out some way to fix this.
Eddie should offer to do CPR or apply pressure to Steve’s wounds or even just pull Dustin into a hug and make sure the kid can’t see any more of the horrors surrounding him. He just can’t make himself move.
His eyes are glued to Steve— the demobat bites covering him with blood, the way his body is limp under Nancy’s efficient hands, the lack of tension in his perpetually furrowed brow, the beloved nail bat that has rolled just out of his reach.
At least his eyes are closed. He must’ve known at the end that it was coming, shut his eyes to save Dustin the memory of his vacant stare—
Suddenly, Eddie is spinning around and lurching to his knees as he retches into the gravel.
He knew Steve, is the thing.
As horrible as everything was with Chrissy, they had only spoken for the first time that day. But Steve… He had time to get to know Steve, saw how kind and brave and real he could be, talked with him about the kids and how utterly fucked up this whole situation was. He wasn’t just Harrington anymore, complete with a derogatory snarl. He was Steve.
Maybe it was stupid to start falling for the first cute straight boy who was nice to him for a couple of days. It wouldn’t be the stupidest crush Eddie ever had. Sure, the chances of it going anywhere were practically zero, but Eddie Munson is nothing if not stubborn. He thinks he would’ve seen it through, at least became a friend to Steve and soaked up his sunshine from a distance.
But as Eddie empties his guts onto the ground, he is suddenly aware that now Steve will just be Steve forever. Not “sweetheart” or “Dad” or “Coach Harrington” or any of the things Steve might have dreamed of. Not Eddie’s friend. Definitely not something more.
Eddie’s not sure if the tears that sting his eyes are from throwing up or from grieving those possibilities.
Then suddenly Nancy is yelling, “I think I feel a pulse!” and they become tears of relief.

A Recounting Of Moments
Ominis Gaunt x Reader
AO3 LINK | OR BELOW THE CUT
Plot: Ominis Gaunt gives MC cunnilingus. No other plot. It's just horny, man. (Below the cut because 18+)
Word Count: 1,500
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's loved her since those very first days.
Since the threads of him first tangled with the threads of her - tentative. A curious meeting outside of the Undercroft; he was angry, then, at the intrusion of the thing. It felt like the twisting knife that curled in his heart, and he was blinded (if you'll forgive him that one) by a rage too thick to see through.
It's always been the three of them, you see.
Sebastian, and Anne, and Ominis. A triad of troublemakers; or friends, at the least of it. Three people who have trusted eachother, beyond all recognition. Beyond sense, or sanity, or any which ways you turn the dial.
But then there was her.
Oh, Merlin--he never expected this.
It's the way she kisses him. The way her lips press to his that makes him drunk on it; on the madness that can barely be contained in him. Ominis Gaunt has grown around the madness: a pox of his family, and he's the pox on that, too. Stains upon stains, until you become lost in the fabric of an addled tapestry that doesn't make you a Gaunt. Doesn't make you anything else, either - but he's not sure where he fits, anymore.
Between her lips, though: he fits there just fine.
He thinks he'd like to stay there forever. Build a home in the space between those places; write poetic lines right into the cords of her throat. Tell her she's magical; tell her she's shaking the very fabric of him into misery and madness, just by the way her back arches against this window.
He shouldn't be fucking her here.
But he's fucking her all the same.
Not yet: not quite. But his lips drag up her ankle: her back pressed against the window of the Common Room like it's solid enough to support the way their souls vibrate. He can feel the way she's trembling against it; how the water pushes and pulls against the glass as she hitches her skirt, and Ominis Gaunt is lost in kissing upward. Upward, inch by inch: as slowly as one can kiss, when all is said and done.
"You don't know, do you?" he asks her, between smattered promises on her skin, "don't know what I've held back from doing to you all day?"
Of course she doesn't.
If she did - she'd hardly be threading her fingers through his hair and dragging her nails over his scalp like this. She'd be shredding her voice on his name; aching, wild: she'd be tearing the tapestries from the walls with screams of his name. There's a strength to the thoughts he's brimming with: too deep and dark to explain to her, in the heat of this moment.
"Tell me," she begs him, and it drips like honey. Right down his spine; right over the fabric of his clothes. Drenches him.
He kisses up towards her knee, now. Sucks a kiss on the inside of her right one, pulling it just up over his shoulder. His hands thread higher to the curves of her; he can see her in perfect detail like this. The way she'd fill a uniform to perfection. Fill a skirt to absolution.
Fit around him like she was made to.
Perhaps that's too crass of him. Filth and dirt: not befitting a man of his station.
Ominis cares little for it.
He cares for the way gooseflesh pricks under his fingers, though. And that's far more real than any suppositions might be.
"First," he tells her, his voice husky in his throat, "I thought of you at breakfast. Sitting in my lap. The way you like to put those delicate lips to my neck."
He tells her it without any need to compose himself: he's already lost in her. His trousers are too tight, when he kisses upward. Bites, a little bit, at her left leg first. He moves to the right to give it equal attention, and his nails dig crescents ever so gently against the outside of her thigh. She intakes sharply; a lungful of air that feels almost reverent.
"Go on," she implores, and he feels rather lost in it all.
"Then; Charms."
Ominis lets his breath flutter on her as he moves upward; it's warmer, here. Softer. The skin is tender and untouched by anyone but him - he's maddened by the salty taste of the sweat against his lips.
"You held that wand deftly," he feels almost wild, now. His cock throbs in his trousers; spitting. Spilling. "Agony. All agony. You're a vision; and I wish your hands had been on me in much the same way."
He can feel her heartbeat in her thigh, and it's enough to bring him further into a deep, agonising place.
Merlin; but this worship is better than what his body craves.
To show her what this is is bliss in of itself. The denial is half of the prize: a man earns his keep, after all.
"I wish I had, now." Her voice cracks on the last word; his nails drag on the inside of her thighs, and there is no fabric to bar him at all.
"At dinner," he swallows, desperate for air, "I craved only this."
I craved only you.
He thinks he says it in English, at first. But there's a brilliant tremble to her body as he breathes it, so close to the wet heat of her - and it's not English at all. It's a hiss, and a flick of the tongue; the language of snakes, and a blessed relief to finally let free from himself. Like a breath he's been holding for far too long; he feels the tip of his tongue ache with the sound of it.
Or, perhaps, the desire to taste her.
She's trembling beneath his touch, and Ominis can barely contain it, as he kneels in blissful reverence before her. He's never been one for sermons, but it feels like something of a pledge; a promise, and a hymnal, and a tempestuous force from his lungs that wants to swallow him whole.
She whimpers at the touch, and he nibbles just so.
"Ominis," she begs, her pulse fluttering, "please. Please."
Ominis Gaunt is many things.
But no - he will never deny her this.
So his mouth creeps upward; lips parted, teeth nibbling. Gentle and slow, as he feels the fabric of her skirt against the nape of his neck. He breathes in the scent of her, and it makes him just about mad with the promise of the whole bloody thing.
"Oh; you have no idea how delicious you are, do you?"
She can't ever know.
There are no words for it. None he knows; none that matter. None that would make sense  - not to him, not to her, nor to anyone. But his nails grab at the curve of her: higher, feeling the flesh ooze around his fingernails, and he's no longer a devout follower.
He's a reverent, repentant sinner.
His tongue comes first - stretches out. The tip of it is ever so gentle: he wants and wants, begging for a taste of her as though it'll cure every ill in his body. Maps her with his hands; but his tongue is the true vision of the peace. When he finds her; she trembles with a whine, and Ominis wishes he were a stronger man.
He isn't. No man is this strong.
He buries his face into her cunt: presses his lips to it in absolute, agonizing want. The feeling is ecstasy; the taste is madness. Keening, pure absolution - incomprehensible, in all that it is.
His groan is loud enough to wake half the Common Room; but that's half of the daring of it.
The other half is deep within her; and he'll gladly lick it out. Spread the flat of his tongue clean against her, until she's writhing and wild against his face; fisting his hair and begging with his name upon her lips.
He's loved her all along, after all.

Mr. Gaunt
Ominis Gaunt x F!Reader (+18!)
Ominis Gaunt is not an easy man to satisfy.
Content warning: Explicit content, smut, nsfw, p in v
Tumblr media
Ominis Gaunt is not an easy person to satisfy.
Mr. Gaunt likes a cup of unsweetened coffee waiting for him every morning on the left side of his desk, right under the lamp his best friend gave him when he returned from his honeymoon in Egypt. The cup should be at the perfect height so that Ominis can sit down and just reach out his hand to drink it.
Mr. Gaunt always likes to have lunch at the same time, in his office, without noise or distracting incidents. He likes a good piece of steak with mashed potatoes, the steak rare and the potatoes should be well trodden but should not be out of shape.
Everything must be perfect or the wrath of Mr. Gaunt will be unleashed.
She knew this, although her first time there she thought they were mere exaggerations. She was only there because her parents considered her a person incapable of taking care of herself and who “needs to know the real world.” Yeah, right, you steal a dragon's egg for a bet and suddenly you're a girl who needs to work in the summer to become a useful member of society.
But this does not feel like an adequate punishment to reform her.
It was a foolish mistake. She was in a hurry and didn't leave the cup exactly under the shade of the lamp, Ominis' hand over stretched and the object fell to the ground. A completely ruined morning. As if it couldn't get any worse, not only the mug fell, but also a small crystal figurine, a gift from the renowned bearer of ancient magic.
That's how she ended up nailed to the wall in the office, with her skirt and panties down, her tits exposed and her pussy being fucked mercilessly.
—Mr. Gaunt, please…
—Shut up, I don't want to hear your complaints.
His hips thrust deeper inside her, her wet pussy drawing him in barely able to hide her moans and in fear of being overheard by the workers in the joint room.
—O-ominis, wait, we can't be too…!
She barely manages to say another word, Ominis pushes her against the desk and rips off what little clothing she still had left. He doesn't care that her clothes are damaged or that she has to work overtime to replace the skirt that now has an unprofessional cut on one side.
Mr. Gaunt couldn't care less as he places one of his secretary's legs over his shoulders and slams his thick cock into her once again. Each thrust sends the girl's body bouncing up and down on the table, her hard, throbbing clit taking Ominis's rough caresses to her heart's content.
She reaches out to grab the sides of the desk and rolls her eyes as the head of her boss's cock slides perfectly against her g-spot. She could swear that the mere stimulation is about to make her cry.
—That's what you wanted, isn't it? That's why you piss me off, you just want this slutty cunt to be filled with my cum…
He's close, she'd be lying if she said she doesn't know when she's about to come and what her orgasms are like. Mr. Gaunt likes to cum inside her, especially when he's angry. Mr. Gaunt doesn't know that she has begun to enjoy that feeling.
A thick warmth fills her. Her body trembles once more, another orgasm rushes over her and her nails dig into the dull edge of the table. His cock continues to squirt and more cum pools in her loins. The man's seed leaks and squirts like a mess, but at least they are both satisfied.
Then it's like everything is back to normal until dismissal time when her parents come to pick her up. Everyone goes crazy when they see Sebastian Sallow and his amazing wife walk in.
Ominis Gaunt's best friends.
—How did my daughter behave today? I hope she didn't give you any trouble. —Said Sebastian.
—Not at all, she definitely didn't inherit your bad behavior.
—Very funny; darling, say goodbye to your uncle Ominis.
Ominis Gaunt is not easy to please, he has perfect standards. He is perfect. Impeccable. Flawless. Perhaps the only dirt on him is seen behind closed doors and she's not one to share his secret.
—See you tomorrow, Uncle Ominis.

How would you rewrite Chloe’s arc in Season 2?
So, personally, I would've just gone ahead and redeemed her. There are various reasons to do so.
She's strongly color coded for Bee, suggesting she would get it. It would be weird if she didn't (shame they didn't do the same to Nino, especially learning that Peafowl wasn't even lost originally, it was added to Volpina last minute).
There were promos and building up confirming she was going to be a hero, and implications that she was going to be part of a team and working with the heroes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And with the introduction of Lila, and the implication that she was going to be a new antagonist, you didn't need two mean girls to be against Marinette. Much less sorta 3 with Kagami who dabbles in the mean girl trope. Only exception is to have multiple mean girls is to have them face off against other characters than just Marinette, but they're set on that so there should be some sort of change.
Chloe getting a redemption and being a hero is a natural go to.
So Chloe's redemption, I believe, should start off with a loss of power. Something that will humble her for she cannot continue as she is.
And as I've talked about using Lila to push the agenda of Chloe's redemption before, let's talk about another option: using Audrey herself.
Audrey easily could've been another means of pushing the Chloe redemption agenda. She could've been a solid foil to Chloe, by being mean and ruthless, but she's actually hard working, dedicated, and lives with integrity for her career. Things Chloe is not.
And excited to have her mom here, as this is love not freely given, making Chloe want it, it's dashed when Audrey is unimpressed and unhappy with Chloe and how she is.
For not only does Chloe not do her own work and lives live in leisure laziness, living off her parents hard earned money (at least in Audrey's case), but having the audacity to steal another inspiring designer's design and hire an designer to copy it at a competition that Gabriel Agreste hosted (Audrey's never been so embarrassed), Audrey is here to give her entitled daughter a reality check.
She cuts Chloe off on all of her enjoyments.
Sabrina is banned from the hotel. The butler is expected to go over Chloe's work to make sure it is hers and not Sabrina's.
Chloe is expected to get a part time job. She wants to spend money, she needs to spend her own. She'll get the rest of her saved funds at 18.
And, Chloe is to get involved in the fashion industry. If she's going to tarnish it with her laziness and arrogance, she's going to work to make up for it. Specifically, she is going to approach the girl she stole from and make up for her actions.
And at first, it's all terrible for Chloe.
Homework is hard. It's bad enough that Chloe has to stay after school to get a mentorship by the teachers (as no student wants to mentor her, except for Sabrina, who isn't allowed near her, and Adrien but he's busy). At first, Chloe did discover that she could trick Bustier into doing her own homework for her, but Audrey caught on quick and mean Mendeleiev took over.
The part time job was impossible. Chloe kept getting fired. But it wasn't her fault!
Most customers were beneath her service!
They couldn't expect her to touch out of season clothes!
She had to leave work early because she got dirt under her nails. A clear emergency.
There was no way she was going to wear a hairnet, that was going to ruin her hair.
Chloe was just starting to think her mother would let it go when Audrey put her foot down and had Chloe work for her own company, and Chloe was not allowed to quit or be fired, and was to do the work or else she wouldn't be allowed in her own suite. She would have to sleep on the second floor suites.
The threat was scary enough for Chloe to suck it up.
And the worse one... Chloe needed to go and make it up to Marinette. Chloe dragged her feet on this so much that Audrey dragged Chloe there, apologized to Marinette first, then pressured Chloe to apologize. She told Marinette that Chloe here was to work for her and make up for her dishonesty. When Marinette tried to back out and say it's fine, Audrey insisted.
And so Chloe become Marinette's assistant. She would model for her. She would go fetch materials Marinette needed or help carry things when Marinette went out shopping.
It was weird for both girls and neither of them liked it.
But under Audrey's critical eye, Chloe kept up with all these awful changes to her life, but at some point, there was a shift.
Chloe was able to solve a problem without Mendeleiev's guidance. She did it on her own. She... actually felt proud of that. She wondered what else she could solve without the teacher... Oh! And she'll have to show this off to Adrien and Sabrina tomorrow!
At her part time job, Chloe got her first paycheck. And that felt really good. Money she earned herself. This was hers. Not her father's. Not her mother's. This was Chloe's own money. She was so happy that she, weirdly, didn't feel like spending it. She wanted to hold onto it.
And, extra weirdly, she and Marinette are... talking. They're discussing the big name fashion designers and their thoughts on them. They share their criticisms, or the ideas of what they would like to see. Chloe is even sharing her own thoughts on what Marinette creates and Marinette listens and considers it. And Marinette has actually crafted attire and accessories with Chloe in mind, something that is just gifted away, no strings attached, given from someone that doesn't love her unconditionally like her father does. It kinda... felt like it mattered more. Daddy gifts her items so freely that many of those items she just throws away, but anything Marinette gives doesn't feel like that.
Gosh, who knew Marinette had actual tastes? And she didn't quite mind being around her.
Chloe had to wonder what was the world coming to?
Chloe though did still keep her mean streak. Anyone that irritated her or when she bored, she would pick on. Though when Marinette said soemthing, she backed off a lot more than before. She reasoned it's because technically her 2nd boss. But it did make her annoyed. And Cesaire's smug face added to it.
But one day, Lila starts to mess with Marinette and without thinking, Chloe intervened, roasting Lila while she had the chance. It ended poorly as Lila became an akuma and came after her, but Ladybug offered Chloe a lot of praise, much to her glee. And then, Ladybug presented Chloe with a little box.
A box that evidently held the Bee Miraculous.
"Honestly, you're more wasp than a bee," Ladybug said, the box still in hand.
"Excuse me!?" Chloe gasped in full offense.
Ladybug continued, "But I think you're on the way of becoming one. And maybe Pollen will help you get there."
The box was set in her hand, opening on it's own, and in a flash of light and a warming greeting from a little bee thing, dawned the day Queen Bee arose to work with the heroes, bringing her own mean sting to the team.

Five years ago…
“Master, we will open the doors now.”
The King of Curses barely acknowledges his most loyal subordinate standing beside him, let alone their words. He is too preoccupied with his thoughts about today—a day he both despises and relishes.
With four arms supporting his formidable body, he sinks deeper into the throne, bracing himself for the monotony of the hours ahead.
The procession of miserable creatures about to crawl through the shrine’s doors, clutching their offerings, will be tiresome. All their pleading, the begging, the crying. All the shit, piss and vomit on the floor. Disgusting.
Yet, it’s the power that accompanies this spectacle that he truly savours.
Sukuna casts a wordless glance at Uraume, who nods in understanding. The doors slide open, and the wretched crowd spills inside.
It’s a wonder he has the restraint not to cut them all down instantly. He considers it, feeling the urge pulling within him. It would be so easy to mutilate every single one of them with a thoughtless wave of his hand.
Subconsciously, he rubs the pad of his thumb against his index and middle fingers on his upper right hand until he allows them to extend.
But then she steps into view.
No one accompanies her. She is alone and filthy.
An ill-fitting robe clings to her frail frame, and her long midnight black hair is slightly tangled. Still, with a bath and a good scrubbing, the bitch might look halfway decent. As she pushes through the crowd and reaches the base of the dais, she manages to stand her ground in his presence.
Interesting.
“My Lord.” She bows and exhales a slow, shuddering breath.
Sukuna taps one of the armrests, taking her in with vague interest.
“What do you have for me?” he inquires, his voice a low rumble.
She raises her head, her eyes dark and murky, like thick, cloying mud.
“Myself.”
“Yourself,” Sukuna echoes, tilting up his chin.
“Yes,” she continues, her voice steady but soft. “I wish to serve you here, and if my Lord desires my body, he is free to have it.”
A flicker of mild revulsion crosses Sukuna’s face. The yawning need that cracked open inside of him two years ago is insatiable—a want that no amount of physical pleasure, whether from a woman’s cunt, his own hand, or the act of breaking someone’s body, can satisfy. But if he is to retain any semblance of control, he needs an outlet.
“Does the woman proposing to become my personal whore have a name?” he asks, leaning forward with a cruel smile cracking across his face.
She lifts her chin.
“Sayuri, my Lord,” she responds, then bows again in deference.
At least she has sense.
Sukuna glances at Uraume.
“Have her cleaned up and fed,” he commands, gesturing towards the dirt-stained woman. “Then send her to my chambers tonight.”
“Yes, Master.” Uraume moves toward the woman and guides her back through the crush and out of the central hall.
From just one look, Sukuna knows that Sayuri’s body would never truly satisfy him. She can try, but ultimately she will fail.
* * * * *
Present day, moments ago…
There are three things you know with absolute certainty.
First, you have a sister you love and would risk anything for. Second, in your father's eyes, you are nothing but a tool for his use. And third, Ryomen Sukuna is a monster—yet he just protected you.
The latter doesn’t sit well with you.
Even as you remain in the gloom of the central hall, with the heavy smell of copper in the air, Ren’s lips move in a blur. Yet, her words are lost to the daze you are trapped under.
He could have allowed that polearm to pierce and rip you apart. But he chose not to.
Why?
You watch as a horde of shrine attendants methodically remove every manner of broken body from off the floor—decapitated bodies, limbless bodies, bisected bodies, bodies with sunken craters. They carry them away, presumably to ready them for preservation and consumption.
He is a monster, yet he protected yo—
No.
It doesn’t sit well with you. A lot of things are starting to not sit well with you.
Turning to Sayuri, you see that she, too, seems lost. Her eyes, soft and unblinking, paint a blank expression. It’s clear why she’s so affected—she has just witnessed her lover being impaled before her eyes.
And you aren’t a fool. You know a rift has begun to crack between you and her. It began the moment you asked about Sukuna’s desires weeks ago.
As far as you’re concerned, she can have the King of Curses. You don’t want him anyway. That was never part of your plan. There has always been one plan.
"Are you all right, Sayuri?" you ask gently.
Her deep brown eyes meet yours. It takes some searching from her to you, but finally, she nods.
"Yes," she replies. "Thank you." Her voice is so small and fragile that it makes your stomach ache.
What you will eventually do to Sukuna will destroy her.
“My Lady, why don’t you return to your chambers, change into something more comfortable, and rest? Sayuri and I will check on you later.” Ren suggests as she surveys your kimono with a heavy stare. During the attempted assassination, you were thoroughly sprayed in a deluge of Sukuna’s blood, and it’s still warm.
“Are you sure?” you ask, eyes drifting between the two.
They nod. Sayuri is a little more hesitant.
“Okay,” you say, “I’ll see you both shortly.”
You turn and leave, moving through the quiet corridors and back to your chambers.
As you walk, the weight of the past few hours presses down heavily. Despite the adrenaline pounding, rest is all you need right now. Yet, you know it won’t come easily unless you coax it out.
And it’s a damn shame you know exactly how.
Fantasizing about Sukuna from the other night—how he looked, touched, and spoke—while you pleasure yourself will work like a charm.
Cum for me.
His words.
Pressure throbs between your thighs, and it appalls you how easily thoughts of him get you wet.
Wrong, it’s so fucking wrong.
You walk faster. The door to your room comes into view, and you hurry toward it, wanting to slake your growing need. You slide it open with one gloved hand.
“My Lady.”
Your eyes close the moment Uraume’s cool voice slithers down the corridor.
You turn to face them. They stand at the end of the passage, hands clasped within the folds of their kimono, as still as a statue.
“Yes?” you ask, heart still racing.
“Master Sukuna requests your presence, now.”
Your jaw tightens in response until it’s almost painful.
“For what reason?”
“He wishes to share a meal with you.”
* * * * *
Standing at the door to the private room in your soiled kimono, your agitated hands fidget with your charcoal gloves, pinching and pulling the fabric.
You remind yourself not to be nervous. You have done this before. Meals are straightforward. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing has changed.
So why do you feel so nervous?
You don’t have time to dwell on the thought as Uraume gently slides the door open with a soft click.
Across the room, the King of Curses’ eyes find yours.
Red, red, red—
Breathe.
He glowers from a cushion at the far end of the low table, holding a kiseru between the large fingers of his upper right hand. Behind him, the garden door stands open, allowing the pale mid-afternoon light to spill in, casting his frame in silhouette.
Evidently, he hasn't changed either, still wearing the same blood-soaked kimono. The dark, muted blue fabric is stained with a purplish hue, and the tear where the polearm pierced him reveals a glimpse of his chest.
With obvious reluctance, you stare at it, remaining in the doorway.
“Excuse me, my Lady,” Uraume says, moving around you and inside.
They head to a separate low table, where you spot a tray of various dishes. Curiosity has you surveying them. Rice and vegetables for you, human flesh and organs for him, cooked and cut into small, bite-size pieces.
Unnerved, your eyes drift back to meet four red ones.
Slipping the kiseru into his mouth, Sukuna stares at you unblinking, waiting to see if and when you’ll move from the spot in the corridor, you have so stubbornly rooted yourself in.
He inhales.
Tiny wisps of smoke escape the pipe, and curl upward before disappearing into the damp air behind him.
You take a small step inside.
He exhales a soft, murky cloud, his enormous body relaxing.
Both feet cross the threshold, and a subtle twitch pulls at the left side of his mouth.
You slide the door shut, move toward the cushion set out for you and kneel, knees seeking the plush material. Even with Sukuna sitting across the table, it’s clear he looms over you.
Once settled, a silence descends on the room, broken only by Uraume’s preparations off to the side.
A heartbeat or two later, your husband finally speaks in that low, intimidating voice of his.
“Hungry?”
The word makes your stomach convulse. After Sukuna demanded your presence in the central hall this morning, you hadn’t had the chance to eat.
“Yes,” you murmur, “I’m famished.”
He leans back, giving you a condescending look.
“Famished? How fortunate for you. Uraume has prepared your usual bland meal.” He flicks his lower left hand dismissively toward the food tray.
You pull up a fake smile, only to let it drop immediately.
“Just because I’m not eating something dead doesn’t mean my meal is bland.”
It’s been the longest stretch without eating meat, and you miss it. Desperately. But you refuse to put anything resembling it into your mouth while at the shrine—just in case it’s human.
Sukuna rolls his eyes.
“Tch, idiot,” he grumbles while removing the kiseru from his mouth. He taps the pipe against a small lacquer receiver, depositing the fine ash into a neat pile before placing it on the table.
A breeze rolls through the open garden door as Uraume brings the food over. A mix of pleasant and acrid smells assaults your senses, making you blanch. Sukuna’s meal is placed first, then Uraume glides over to your end of the table, sliding down yours.
“Thank you,” you say.
Looking at the plate, you frown slightly. He’s right. Your food is bland, but you’ll never admit that.
You pick up your chopsticks and glance across the table. Sukuna mirrors your action, holding his own pair in his upper right hand.
The sight is strange. And despite his long, thick fingers, he handles the utensils with surprising delicacy, picking up a piece of tissue with care and dedication. His eyes narrow in strict concentration. It’s as if he’s a savant in the art of devouring human flesh.
Just how long has he been eating like this? Far too long, judging by the wicked look in his eye.
As the meat nears his lips, his gaze shifts to meet yours. He grumbles something wordless at your staring, and you quickly avert your eyes, refocusing on your own meal. You dip your chopsticks into the rice and slot it calmly into your mouth.
At first, the meal commences in heavy silence. There’s just the subtle clattering of ceramics and quiet, calm sounds from outside. But slowly, it’s interrupted by noises from Sukuna’s side of the table.
Unsettling noises…
Crunching, squishing.
One, two. Two slices of sweet potato.
You resort to counting the vegetables piled on your plate to distract yourself.
Tearing, grinding.
Three medium carrots.
Sucking, slurping.
You shudder.
Five shiitake mushrooms, sliced into—
“Before we were wed,” Sukuna says suddenly between bites. You glance at him, and he continues, “Did you flaunt yourself like you did today, or am I just lucky?”
Apparently, he’s still annoyed that you wore your clan’s kimono.
“I was not flaunting,” you reply defensively. “And to answer your question, no, I did not.”
He slowly chews the meat rolling around inside his closed mouth, then swallows it.
“Then what trivial things occupied your time?”
You eye him skeptically.
“Pardon, my Lord?”
His gaze turns heavy and attentive as he stares down the table at you.
“Tell me what filled your days growing up in the Kasai household,” he says.
You stare at him, eyes darting between his dual visage, the black ink decorating his features, and the rigid line that makes up his mouth. There’s an expression there, one you haven’t seen before, one that confuses you.
Something slides into place.
What if I want to know you?
His earlier words claw their way back.
For some unknown reason, you hide your gaze from his, dropping it low to meet your gloved hands.
He can’t be serious. He can’t.
Discussing your time within the Kasai household is fraught with many dark things. Things that are filled with looming threats, abuse, submission, death.
Life was somewhat easier when your mother was alive, but everything began to unravel when she became pregnant with her third child. As your father eagerly anticipated the arrival of what he hoped would be a son—the next heir to the Kasai clan—the atmosphere grew oppressive. You and your sister were treated more like cattle than daughters—though, you bore the brunt of this dehumanization.
When you finally find the bravery, you lift your eyes again. Sukuna is waiting for an answer.
“My days were normal, quiet, filled with small comforts. Mostly, though, they revolved around duty and expectations.” You offer a flat response, carefully avoiding anything too complex or revealing. You have no intention of exposing your vulnerabilities like the other night.
He arches his eyebrow, and a lopsided smirk rolls up on his face.
It occurs to you that you’ve yet to see a genuine smile. One that isn’t mocking, sadistic or maniacal. You might even think him beautiful.
It’s a shame he’s the fucking devil.
“Are you telling me you weren’t an entitled princess?” he chuckles, loud enough that his mouth opens, flashing teeth.
You sigh, irritation seeping into your breath. He knows the truth and is just toying with you. The bruise your father left on your face the day of your wedding was a clear indication.
“I was not, my Lord,” you say, rolling your chopsticks between your fingers in an effort to distract yourself.
His smirk grows, four eyes narrowing into a sly glint.
“So, I presume you were the dutiful daughter always in the shadow of your more charming sister?”
Honestly, yes, but you didn’t care. Yuna was the more favoured one, the gem of the Kasai clan and for good reason.
“My sister is charming and deserving of the best life has to offer,” you state firmly.
Setting his chopsticks down, Sukuna leans away from the table, his smirk fading. He crosses his four arms over his chest and studies you intently as if troubled.
“And what about you?” He dips his chin in your direction. “The overlooked, perhaps neglected one? Is that your claim?”
His gaze makes you feel like a pitiful sight, stoking the irritation in your gut. You fidget with your chopsticks, his eyes dart, tracking the movement.
“Each of us has a role to play in the family, my Lord. I discovered what mine was a long time ago.”
Sister, protector, and tool—your needs and wants always come last. They always have and always will. Sukuna will never understand that. All he does is consume everything in his path.
A selfish, destructive, calamitous force.
“How sad,” he drawls, smacking his lips and leaning forward again, “it must have been terribly hard for you, growing up in such luxury, even if you had to wait your turn for leftover scraps.”
Your eyes narrow, and you take a deep breath as if the air could sustain the retort caught on your tongue.
“Perhaps, my Lord,” you say, deliberately placing your chopsticks down, “you’d understand if you ever experienced the denial of something you truly wanted, instead of simply taking everything without a second thought.”
Something dark crosses his eyes, like bitterness or something similar to torment. It's an emotion you’d never expect to see but quickly dies as if it was never there.
A heavy pressure fills the room—his energy, which has remained dormant until now, suddenly presses down, squeezing at your lungs. It hurts. Even with the garden door open, the air becomes thick and difficult to breathe.
Your hands curl into fists at your side, seeking reassurance as the tension mounts.
"Be more careful with what you say," he warns, "or I won’t tolerate that pretty mouth of yours for much longer."
You press your lips into a thin line.
Lovely voice. Pretty mouth.
“My Lord,” you breathe, feigning respect with the title, his eyes narrow, “you’ve been quite generous with your compliments today. First, my voice, and now my lips. I can’t wait to hear what else you find worthy of prai—”
A ceramic cup of water is suddenly placed beside your dish.
Sukuna’s energy withdraws, and you suck in a breath.
Uraume, whom you had completely forgotten was in the room, silently moved to your side. This is the second time they seem to intervene, just before you and Sukuna are on the verge of tearing each other apart. Or more so, him tearing you apart.
You inhale deeply through your nose and reach for the cup.
“Thank you,” you murmur, regaining your composure as you lift it to your mouth to take a sip—Uraume bows and steps away.
From behind the rim, you glimpse Sukuna’s stern gaze, watching you intently before he returns to his meal.
Once again, silence blankets the room. Neither of you speaks. You focus on your food, and he on his.
His chewing isn’t as robust as before, allowing you to sit with your thoughts.
When you finally clean your plate, you set your chopsticks down. You have a question for the King of Curses, but uncertainty lingers if he’ll even answer the damn thing.
You watch him closely.
Sukuna, towering over the table, shifts slightly, his upper body tilting forward to balance his massive frame. He lifts his utensils, picking up the last morsel of pulpy flesh.
“What?” he grunts, not looking at you but clearly aware of your pointed stare. “Spit it out.”
You clear your throat and sit up a little straighter.
“All right,” you begin, your voice wavering shy of hesitation. “The man from earlier today… why did you allow him to live?”
Very carefully, Sukuna pulls his four eyes up.
“Which one?” He slips the meat into his mouth and places the chopsticks down with deliberate care as if the act of eating is a sacred ritual.
“The man with the heavy sacks.”
Sukuna chews lazily. His eyes are half-lidded as he looks at you with apparent boredom.
“There were plenty of men with plenty of heavy sacks.” His tone makes you sigh. It’s dismissive as if the details you’re offering are insignificant.
“The one with the barley,” you clarify, pressing your hands into your lap. “The horse breeder. He mentioned his family. Two children and another on the way.”
Sukuna swallows, his throat bobbing as he considers your words.
“You think that’s why I let him go?” he says, voice edged with a challenge as if he anticipates your next question.
Uraume approaches the table, tray in hand. They begin removing the empty dishes along with Sukuna’s kiseru.
“If not his family—” they take away your dish. “Thank you, Uraume,” you say quickly, striving to keep your composure. “If not his family, then why?”
Sukuna’s eyes harden. He leans back slightly, regarding you.
“If you think I spared him because of his pathetic plea about his family, you’re mistaken.”
“Then why? I don’t understand. Did you just let him go without any reason?” you press, patience wearing thin.
Why did you protect me?
He tilts his head, eyes narrowing.
“Does it matter?”
You hesitate.
“Well, I was curious because—“
“Then remain curious,” he snaps, ending the conversation.
Your mouth twitches.
Fucking hell.
You lower your gaze, biting back any further questions.
Everything falls back into an uncomfortable silence. There’s just the clattering of Uraume gathering the ceramics and the gentle breeze blowing through the garden doo—
“A family and children? Is that something you want from me?”
At Sukuna’s question, your eyes snap up, and you choke on nothing but air.
You stare at each other. His four red orbs are stern. This isn’t a casual inquiry. It’s a genuine question.
All this talk—about your life, your family, and now this—presses down on you.
You panic, palms itching beneath your gloves.
His eyes flare as if impatient.
“Well?” he grinds out.
You open your mouth.
Uraume reaches over to collect your cup, the sleeve of their kimono momentarily creating a welcome barrier between you and the monster. You focus on the white fabric, taking a moment to calm yourself before it pulls away.
Sukuna reappears.
He has changed his posture, now lounging with his upper right elbow propped on his knee and his fist pressed against the side of his face. The bastard seems relaxed as if this conversation doesn’t rattle him in the slightest.
“Don’t make me repeat myself,” he drawls.
You swallow back the saliva that pools in your mouth.
“I-I haven’t considered it.”
How could you? The question itself felt absurd, given your circumstances. First, you had already accidentally caused the death of your pregnant mother; the thought of holding a life so small and innocent felt inconceivable. Second, the idea of building a family with the King of Curses was something you could never entertain. Lastly, from your perspective, this entire union is a sham, and you’ll be killing him—preferably soon.
“Perfect,” Sukuna says with far too much satisfaction. “Then there’s no need for you to waste your precious thoughts on such matters.”
That wouldn’t be a problem.
“Just to clarify,” you clear your throat, “you have no desire for a family?”
He scoffs sharply, his disdain clear as he wrinkles his broad nose and leers down at you.
“Do I look like someone who’d want a bunch of noisy brats tearing through here?”
You shift on the cushion, slowly dragging your gaze up the length of his body—past the hole in his bloodstained kimono, past his four powerful arms, until you meet his eyes.
“No, my Lord… you don’t.”
“Well, there’s your answer then,” he says harshly.
You let out a frustrated sigh.
Why the hell did he ask you to join him? The man is unbearable, his arrogance grating. You’re sure the only way to end this torment is to escape this interaction.
Your mouth opens, and the words “May I be dismissed, my Lord?” are poised on your tongue. But before you can speak, Uraume, ever the silent attendant, floats to the table and places a lacquered bowl in its center.
Both you and Sukuna drop your eyes to it.
It’s a bowl of fruit. Pears, grapes, figs. Then you see it—a single peach. It stands out, likely because the season is ending, making it a rare treat. It looks perfectly ripe, and its soft pink skin is reminiscent of Sukuna’s hair.
You drag your eyes up to him.
Oh, but the look he’s giving you. Suddenly, you don’t feel like leaving anymore.
His top lip twitches in warning.
“Don’t, you fucking dar—”
You’re already moving before he can finish. With a devious grin, you snatch the peach from the bowl and settle back on the cushion.
He huffs, crossing his upper arms across his chest.
“I thought you learned your lesson the last time you ate one of those.” His gaze is fixed on your hand as you deliberately begin to remove your right glove.
You arch an eyebrow, slowly peeling away the silk and letting it drop carelessly onto the table.
He tenses, eyes darting to Uraume for a moment.
It’s laughable—seeing the King of Curses lose his composure over how you eat a piece of fruit. The last time you pulled this stunt, he forced you to consume human flesh as punishment. But now, there’s nothing left for him to use against you. He’s already devoured it all.
"Hm," you shrug nonchalantly. “I suppose you’ll have to endure it this time, my Lord. ” Your voice is laced with defiance as you bring the fruit to your lips, locking eyes with him in a silent challenge.
Once again, you surprise yourself with your own boldness.
Your lips part, allowing the soft flesh of the peach to press in. You take a slow, sinking bite, closing your eyes as the sweet juice floods your mouth.
Pulling it away, you chew, swallow, then lick your lips. Sensually.
You throw in a soft groan for good measure.
“That tastes divin—”
“Uraume. Get out.”
Sukuna’s abrupt command has your eyes snapping open.
“Yes, Master,” they respond promptly.
“And close the door,” he adds, unable to look away from your mouth as he gestures toward the garden door with two fingers.
Uraume carries the tray of empty dishes and moves to slide the door shut, cutting off the only light in the room. The dim illumination casts Sukuna’s face in muted shadows, making his red eyes glow.
Your heart pounds, knowing the likelihood of what’s about to happen.
You wet your lips.
This time, you’re ready.
This time, you won’t lose yourself in him again. You won’t fall apart or make a fool of yourself. Today, you will end him. And this time, you're going to target his fucking head.
Uraume moves to the door behind you and slides it open. The clatter of ceramics is heard as they exit the room and enter the corridor.
You lay the peach on the table and then calmly remove your second silk glove.
The door begins to slide shut, rustling along the track.
You glance at Sukuna. His gaze is ravenous, never leaving you for a moment.
You swallow.
The door clicks shut, leaving the two of you alone.
You stand, but he’s already on his feet.
You move, but he’s faster.
Four hands grab you aggressively.
One moment, you’re standing. The next, Sukuna slams you down on the low table, back pressing into the wood, the fabric of your skirts and strands of your hair fan out in all directions. The lacquered bowl behind you topples over, clattering to the wooden floor, the fruit scattering everywhere. You draw in a sharp breath as his upper right hand, which had been cradling the back of your head to cushion the impact, slips away and moves to engulf your entire neck.
“That was rude, my dear,” he growls, hovering over you, his massive fingers squeezing your delicate throat, “I don't take kindly to being challenged, least of all, by my wife.”
You let out a small, stuttering breath.
He grins and tilts his head, admiring your docile form pinned beneath his effortless strength.
“However, I must say, there's a certain charm in watching your attempts at defiance,” he says. The smirk in his voice makes you seethe, but you remain calm. There’s no need to struggle. You’ll only exhaust yourself, and you need your strength.
“Thank you, my Lord. I'll keep that in mind for next time,” you deadpan, peeking up at him through your lashes.
Like the demon he is, that irritating grin spreads wider, making his four crimson eyes squint slightly, and his canines flash menacingly.
Smug, arrogant. You hate that look on him. Hate that it stirs something inside you that you wish you could ignore.
You shove it down and tuck it away.
He leans in, and the hand on your neck tightens, forcing you to tilt your chin upward.
“You know, you lied to me earlier,” he says, voice low. He places his lower left hand on your abdomen with deliberate pressure, letting his fingers graze your garment before sliding to the hem of your kimono. Slowly, he tugs at the fabric, pulling it taut against your body. “Claiming you were doing nothing in your room. But we both know that’s far from the truth.”
You try to shift, but the hard surface of the tabletop offers no relief.
“And what do you think I’ve been doing in my room?” you ask quietly.
As if the next words cause him pain, he clenches his jaw so severely that a vein bulges in his neck.
“You’ve been touching that pretty little cunt of yours,” he hisses, leaning closer, so you can see his pupils blown wide. “And I can’t stop thinking about it.”
Oh.
Just a few words send a pulse of want through you.
You’re in trouble.
"But more importantly, do you know how I can tell?" he whispers arrogantly, gathering more of your kimono, along with your undergarments, into his hand. He lifts the fabric to your thighs, your eyes tracking his every move.
“How?” you breathe, feeling the wetness pool between your folds.
“Because you’ve been acting differently since our incident five nights ago.” His tone turns cold, cutting the warmth you felt moments ago. “You’ve been emotional and irrational. It’s quite pathetic.”
His discerning words make your face scrunch up with anger.
Seeing your reaction, an even bigger smirk appears on his lips and he clicks his tongue, shakes his head, as if scolding a disobedient child.
“I bet it bothers you how exposed I’ve made you feel,” he chuckles, gripping your kimono tightly. “Especially since, despite everything, you still want me.”
With that, he roughly pushes all the fabric he’d been gathering up to your hips, exposing your slick cunt. Your breath catches in your throat at the sudden vulnerability.
For a fleeting moment, his eyes drop to take in your throbbing center before looking into your face.
With the same hand gripping your throat, he moves his thumb upward, sliding it across your jaw and gently brushing it along your bottom lip. He then hooks it inside your mouth, pressing firmly.
“Now, go on,” he demands, his orbs like four cold, red stones. “Admit it.”
As your eyes dart across his face, you feel your heart pounding. He stares intently, unwavering, grip tightening at your mouth as he waits for your response.
“Fine,” you mutter around his finger.
He releases his grip, removing his thumb from your mouth and placing it gently against the side of your face. He raises his eyebrow, his expression one of expectant satisfaction.
You take a deep breath and avert your eyes.
“I’ve been thinking about you… while touching myself.”
He scoffs, the sound catching your gaze again.
“You missed something,” he states.
You press your lips into a thin line. You understand exactly what he wants you to say but refuse to give in.
“Say it.”
“No.” You shake your head.
You’re not ready to admit, let alone confess, that you want him, not even to yourself.
He pulls his hand away from your neck and stands up to his full, massive height.
“Fine,” he sneers, looking down at you half-naked on the table. “If you won’t tell me, then your body will.”
Immediately, his upper pair of hands reach down to grasp your ankles and yank them up so your bare legs extend straight into the air. A blush blooms across your cheeks as you feel a cool draft against your heated skin while he moves you.
Holding your ankles firmly, Sukuna uses his lower hands to slowly loosen the obi at his waist. He lets it slide off before unfastening his ruined kimono's interior ties. He carefully adjusts your ankles between his hands to peel the fabric away, letting it pool around his feet.
Now clad only in his dark grey hakama, his chest is marked with splotches of dried blood from the attempted assassination.
Seeing it, the same question resurfaces.
Why did you protect me?
You want to ask, but before you can, the maw on his torso opens with a deep rumble, its tongue slipping out. You watch it for a moment before Sukuna steps closer and, without warning, drops to his knees.
It startles you to see him like this, kneeling before you.
His upper hands grip your thighs, pulling you closer. Quickly, he hoists both your legs up, so your calves rest on his upper left shoulder, leaving your backside teetering precariously at the edge of the table. He bends down, leans forward, and presses the maw’s tongue against your glistening folds. You gasp at the sensation of the firm, wet muscle contacting your skin.
He holds it there, unmoving, his eyes locked on you.
Anticipation and vulnerability simmer in the narrow space between your bodies.
A heartbeat later, something dark touches his features.
“Fuck yourself on it,” he commands, voice deep. Cruel even. “Show me how much I’ve tainted you.”
Your breathing stops at the harsh demand. It fills you with repulsion. Yet, deep down, a sick desire has taken root.
Even if it’s wrong, you want this.
You hesitate for a moment, nerves getting the better of you. But, with a shaky breath, you lift your hips and push them forward. The tip of the large muscle brushes past your labia, pressing inside your cunt and massaging your inner walls.
The pressure and pleasure are immediate.
A sound caught between a desperate gasp and a whine escapes your throat, and Sukuna wraps his upper left arm around your trembling thighs. The muscles of his forearm press firmly into your soft skin, grounding you with an unsettling feel of stability.
With your arms firmly gripping the table, you brace yourself and begin to move. Your initial motions are clumsy, but with Sukuna's shoulder as leverage, you sway your hips in a sensual rhythm. And it doesn't take long for the slickness between your thighs to increase, allowing the tongue to slide in and out of you effortlessly.
“Ahh,” you breathe as it fills and stretches you, it’s saliva falling directly onto your cunt.
You increase the pace, body moving with urgency, hips bouncing in tiny spurts. You pant and peer up into Sukuna’s face. He doesn’t return your gaze, just ignores you, keeping it lowered to the apex of your thighs instead.
Five nights ago, his eyes never left your expressions, unable to look away. Now, it's as if you no longer exist, barely acknowledging your presence.
That's fine. You don’t need this to be more than what it is.
Backwards then—
You slam your hips forward, hard, grinding them into him. The extra pressure has your brows knitting together, your mouth dropping open, and a guttural moan pouring out.
In response to your desperation, Sukuna tenses. He’s struggling to control his emotions. And despite all his efforts, his mouth twists into a snarl, exposing his teeth.
"Good girl, just like that," he hisses, his voice strained as he fights to suppress a groan that escapes as a ragged grunt.
He continues to do nothing but hold your legs against his body, his grip firm, tight. His orbs roam over your writhing form. His lower eyes follow the rhythm of your bouncing hips, the way your needy cunt fucks the maw’s tongue over and over, creating sounds that become thicker, wetter. His upper eyes still avoid looking into your face, but gradually, they lift, locking onto your pleading gaze.
A moment of unbreakable eye contact passes between you, and soon, all four of his red eyes are heavy-lidded. Yet, he remains emotionless, even as his body betrays him.
It suddenly becomes clear that the King of Curses is warring with himself. His duality is a struggle, like two opposing storms.
And perhaps, it’s something you can exploit.
You grind your hips harder, pressing the muscle deeper just to feel it swirl inside you. Sukuna’s upper right hand moves from his side, sliding it down along your left leg. The pads of his fingers dig into your heated skin before he slides it back up. The brief touch has you pulling your hips back, withdrawing the muscle before roughly pushing it back into your squelching heat.
“Fuck!” A cry rips from your throat.
“Yes,” he rasps, teeth flashing as a deep growl rumbles in his chest at hearing your sweet cries.
You shut your eyes, throw back your head and allow it to rest against the table. Hip’s undulating faster. Throat tossing out short pleas and curses.
Your frenzied actions cause the mixed wetness to trail down the soft curve of your ass, collecting in slow, deliberate drips that splatter onto the table.
Hearing it, Sukuna’s grip tightens painfully. He’s still trying to hold back.
Peeking your eyes open, you see that dangerous crease split between his mask and eyebrow, spilling into a mixture of desire and anger.
Finally, the King of Curses moves.
Chest rising and falling, he brings his upper body forward, matching your thrusts, pushing the tongue inside your soaking pussy until it stings with pleasure.
As your skin presses against his, you feel the warmth between you intensify, causing sweat to form where your bodies touch. The dried, rust-coloured blood on his chest deepens in hue as the heat builds.
The edge of your mind goes blank, and words you wish had stayed unspoken start to tumble out.
“More,” you quietly moan.
His lip twitches as he pushes forward aggressively.
“You want more?” he growls.
No.
“Yes.” You nod
I do.
Some invisible restraint snaps inside him.
“Then I’ll give you fucking more,” he hisses, withdrawing the maw’s tongue from you, the loss of it making you inhale sharply.
As he rises to full height, you quickly sit up on your elbows in confusion. And there, at that angle, you see them, the rigid outline of his cocks. It’s massive.
He fixates on your wet folds as his lower hands move to the ties of his hakama, tugging on the knot and loosening them.
Your heart races. You aren't prepared for this.
Catching the garment at the top, he begins to drag it down, revealing a dusting of dark hair that starts at his lower abdomen and trails downward.
You sit up fully, panicking.
“Wait!”
He stops.
“What?” he snaps.
“I’m… I’m not ready.”
“Oh, you’re not ready,” he mocks, clicking his tongue.
You nod slowly.
He stares at you for several heartbeats, his hands still resting on his hakama.
Kill him.
Your voice in your head. A reminder.
“I-I want your head between my thighs.” Your tone is only slightly steady.
Keeping your eyes on him, you begin to lean back. Sukuna watches, his gaze hunting you as you lower yourself onto the table again.
“Please,” you whisper, spreading open your thighs. His nostrils flare as you snake your hand down to your cunt to spread your wet folds for him. “I want your tongue on me. I need you to taste me.”
Pretending or not. You desire this, which is a dangerous thing.
“I want more than a fucking taste,” he growls, retying his hakama with a frustrated tug.
Lowering himself back to his knees, the thick fingers of his lower hands slide under your ass, while his upper hands hook behind your knees. Your breath is brought to a halt when he forces your legs up, pinning your thighs flush with your abdomen, exposing you. He curves over your body, the muscles on his shoulders and abdomen rippling like a predator. Your core aches at the sight before you as he lowers his face down to your thighs, his warm breath rolling across your skin.
So close. You tremble.
Sukuna looks up. There's that dark hunger again.
“I will get that confession out of you. One way or another,” he vows, inhaling deeply the scent of your arousal. A deep purr rumbles from his chest as he licks his lips, his tattooed tongue darting out teasingly.
Leaning down, he brushes the flat of the muscle along your swollen pussy lips with a back-and-forth motion. The sensation is maddening as he teases your core, denying what you want. Your mind turns dizzy as you watch him continuing this torment.
His tongue glides up and down, repeating the action once, twice, and then a third time.
Your impatience grows unbearable. You want to fall back, to surrender to the desire, to feel him devour you with the same intensity as when he first laid eyes on you at the wedding ceremony.
“Please,” you breathe out.
Sukuna's eyes dart upward to stare at your mouth, drinking in your desperate plea with amusement. He leans in for a fourth lick, tracing a clear path up the center of your pulsating heat before pulling away, relishing in the torture he is inflicting upon you.
You shift on your back, releasing a frustrated exhale, and he hears you.
With a firm clasp on the back of your thighs, he forces your hips to rise, exposing your wetness to him. And then, that’s when he plunges his tongue between your folds, pushing past your soaking entrance.
Your back arches, his hands pull you closer to his hungry mouth, and both of you groan together.
Loudly. Unhinged. Strangled almost.
It’s better than the feel of his stomach maw. It’s better than anything you’ve felt.
Immediately, he seals his mouth against your cunt. The muscles in his jaw flex with each lick, and suck, trying to swallow you whole. Every swipe of his tongue is more frantic than the last, and you meet him stroke for stroke, undulating as best you can under touch.
"Yes!" you squeal, hands flying up to clutch your knees.
You're going to hell for this.
On a low growl, Sukuna's four hands grip you tightly, anchoring you close while pressing you firmly against the table. The small room fills with slick, sloppy noises, and your panting, harsh and unrestrained, spills out, filling the space.
As if entranced, his brow knits together, and his eyes fall shut just to focus on you. He’s so lost in the moment that he blinds himself to what's coming next.
Focus.
Inhale.
Panting and keeping your eyes on his face, you slowly slide your right hand from your knee.
Hesitant at first, you gently dip your fingers into his pink hair. The strands are soft under your touch. You can feel the texture and the movement as they tickle and dance against your fingers.
You take a moment to admire the sight. To admire him. The way his head rises and falls against your trembling thighs, how he takes starving mouthfuls of you, how you’ve never seen him like this. Almost reverent. Worshiping something other than himself. It's a shame, but at least he will die indulging in two things he enjoys: eating and sex.
Exhale.
You lay your right hand flat against the top of his massive head, your hand looking tiny in comparison. You hold it there for a moment before bringing your left hand to join it.
Though unsure why, your left hand moves, your thumb tracing gentle patterns along his hairline. It’s as if you’re trying to soothe him. Offering a silent apology for what you’re about to do.
Perhaps, one day, when you die and end up in hell, you’ll find him there. Maybe then, things could be different.
As you continue these soft, lingering strokes, you let your hand gently fall to rest against the jutting surface of his mask.
Sukuna’s upper eyes snap open, shooting to your face, his mouth coming to an abrupt stop against your skin.
Shit.
It seems your gentle touch was not appreciated.
You quickly retract your left hand from the right side of his face, weaving it back into his hair.
“Keep going,” you urge softly, dipping your chin downward.
He doesn’t. Instead, he gives you a threatening glare that makes you nervous.
Not knowing what else to do, you lift your hips and grind them against his mouth, letting your slick folds drag across his lips, leaving a glistening path in its wake.
He groans in pleasure and licks his mouth, tasting it before shutting his eyes and diving back into your pussy, drowning himself again. You let out a gasp as his tongue flattens against your skin, followed by the graze of his teeth along your slit. His lower hands begin to roam, fingers exploring your curves. As the right hand ventures towards your crease, you feel a warm wetness as the mouth on his palm opens and begins to lick and probe at your tight entrance.
"Sukuna!" you protest with a sharp intake, hips jerking upwards.
A deep, sadistic laugh reverberates against you.
“Shy?” he mocks before taunting you with another lick at your asshole.
Your brow furrows, lips pinched tight.
“Do not do that agai—ah!”
The tip of his tongue finds its way to your clit, which has you breathing raggedly. Moving his lower right hand away from your ass, he pushes it roughly against your cunt. Caressing you for a moment before sliding a finger deep inside.
“Oh, god,” you whine, slamming your hips forward for more pressure, his tongue working your swollen nub and his finger fucking sloppily in and out of you.
Your heart tumbles at how good it feels, even when you know it should be wrong.
Focus.
Hands bunching in his hair for purchase, you concentrate.
Sukuna twists his finger deeper, making you clench, making you arch cleanly off the table.
Focus…
“Please,” you moan, knotting and tugging at his hair.
His tongue curls and presses around your sensitive nub.
“Please, what?” he mumbles.
Damnit, focus.
“More,” you beg, “I want more.”
He chuckles.
“Admit that you want me, princess, and I’ll give you everything.” He grins into your cunt, the damp heat of his breath coasting over your flesh.
You say nothing.
Fire goes straight to your belly as he swipes his tongue meanly across your clit. You cry out, pushing forward against his mouth, eyes rolling back, mind emptying.
“Sukuna… I…” you breathe, faltering for any words.
Focus!
“Say it,” he urges, licking and sucking your sex, then adding a second torturous finger to pump inside you.
“I-I want…”
Kill him!
Your eyes refocus.
You take one last look at his face, carving every detail into you.
You have to do this.
Sifting inside yourself, you reach for your gift. Hands trembling, you wrangle it and press your fingertips to his skull.
At the touch, his eyes find yours.
Do it!
Then, finally, you—
“Admit it!” he growls.
You hesitate.
“If my Lady isn’t in her chambers, perhaps she’s eating in here?”
“Goddammit! I want yo—”
The door to the corridor slides open.
Your confession dies.
Sukuna’s eyes snap up. Your head whips back.
From your upside-down view, Sayuri and Ren stand in the doorway.
No.
“Get. The fuck. Out,” Sukuna says loudly, mouth pressed to your core.
Neither attendant moves. Both stand frozen.
You meet Sayuri’s darkening brown eyes—the pain and anger you see there claims your arousal. You feel sick.
“Leave!” Sukuna snarls, “Before I kill both of you.”
Ren hastily slides the door shut.
You blink, then tilt your head back. Sukuna resumes his feasting.
“Stop.” Your voice holds a pathetic warning.
He doesn’t. He’s too enthralled. Too busy with his tongue, placing messy licks on your pussy, while his fingers slide inside you.
“Sukuna. Please,” you shudder, rising to your elbows.
He doesn’t acknowledge you.
“Stop!” You press your palms into his forehead, attempting to push him away. “Get off me!”
Reluctantly, he withdraws all four hands from you and steps back with a huff, wiping the juices from his face with the back of his hand. He then rises to his full height.
The blood slowly returns to your limbs.
You plant your feet on the floor, stand with a slight sway, adjust your kimono, grab your silk gloves, and move around the table, quickly heading for the door.
A large hand clamps around your wrist, halting your escape.
"Don’t you dare walk away from me.” Sukuna’s voice is as tight as his grip.
There's conflict in his tone, an emotion. An emotion that makes your insides dip.
"I'm going to my chambers." You try to wrench free, refusing to look at him.
He reels you closer, grip tightening as he leans in. His face before yours, his red orbs burning so close. And yet, so far away.
"I didn’t give you permission to leave," he spits.
"That doesn’t concern me.”
His gaze thins and his voice drops, turning cold.
"Just because I managed to drag an orgasm from your cunt once doesn't mean you have me wrapped around your finger," he snarls. You recoil. "Remember your place, wife. Because I own you."
Those last words hit like a force. Splitting your head open. As if your own cruel father had spoken them.
A poisonous rage has your mouth trembling.
Leave. You need to go.
Your thoughts spiral as you continue to struggle in his hold. When he refuses to relent, you resort to the one thing that might make him release you. Exploit the one thing that you’ve unearthed.
You lift your chin.
"You protected me today. Why?" you demand.
Sukuna’s grip burns, but he remains silent. Your hands curl into fists and his features distort, falling into anger.
"Answer me! Why? Why, did you protec—"
"Get out!” he yells, releasing you with a harsh shove.
You stumble back.
The scoff that falls from your lips has him stepping forward. You step back. You've pushed the monster too far.
With a blank expression, you bow your head, rise, take one last look at his face, recarving every bitter detail into you, and turn away.
* * * * *
For the second time in weeks, the shrine’s ceiling becomes the only view from where you lie on your futon. Looking at it for so long is starting to give you a headache.
You shift onto your side.
But perhaps the headache is from something else.
You squeeze your eyes shut to fight the throbbing.
Today didn’t unfold the way you imagined it would. You fucked things up—badly.
Hours ago, with Sukuna between your thighs and your hands on his head, for reasons you can’t understand, you couldn’t bring yourself to kill him. You hesitated.
In that moment, he was your weakness. And in that moment after, you might have become his by the way things were left.
You drag your fingers across your eyelids. The fatigue that sits there is heavy. Heavier than usual.
The rift that has opened up between you and him needs to be mended. The sooner, the better, before more time slips away.
Sighing, you roll onto your back and stare at the ceiling again.
You need to get closer to him, even if it’s becoming difficult. Not because you want to, of course, but because you need to.
Sitting up, you carefully run your hands over the fabric of your yukata to smooth it into place. You push off the futon, approach the door, and slide it open.
The corridor is silent. It's become a friend you know all too well now.
You take one step out.
A cream-coloured robe shudders to your right, flowing in the darkness.
You stiffen in the doorway, catching yourself before moving any further.
It takes a moment, but you make out the faint outline of a woman, their back to you.
Sayuri?
She’s barefoot, feet tapping delicately against the cool wooden floor.
Her long, raven-coloured hair cascades down her back like a fine river of ink, luminous against the pale garment.
Each step she takes is silent, moving with the grace of someone who’s done this walk a thousand times before. And you already know exactly where she’s going—there’s only one other door at the end of this corridor.
She takes her time—one foot in front of the other, like a smooth, practiced dance.
When she reaches the King of Curses’ chamber, she doesn’t hesitate. Her lithe hand extends and knocks three times against the massive wooden door.
Though the sound is soft, it reverberates deep inside you. And… it hurts.
One heartbeat passes.
Then two.
Sayuri waits.
A third.
She waits.
Then, a fourth.
On the fifth, the door slides open, and a pulse vibrates the air as Sukuna appears at the threshold.
You pull yourself further out of view.
Though you’re far away, you can see him cross his four arms, studying his subordinate before him.
She lifts her chin.
He doesn’t move, but Sayuri does.
She walks inside his chamber, turns, and shuts the door behind them.
Without needing to take a second glance, you slide your door shut and disappear into the darkness of your room.
