extremely fun commentary. interesting hearing actor-comedians talk about acting and also the writing/bts notes from moran. gives me the same feeling as reading books about movies none of my friends will ever watch—feeling of getting to have a conversation with someone about a piece of media. the metacommentary on the function of the commentary track seemed like it was meant to express how pointless it is but it works well as a reflective prompt for the six eleven-year-olds who have the liquid assets available to buy DVD sets. making the subtextual relationship between viewer and performer into text, which does emphasize the internality of the performer as you're both bonking your heads against the fourth wall that divides transmitter and recipient across space and time. since being the recipient can be a little lonely if it feels like you're doing all the work to animate the signal
dylan moran is 10 seconds away from killing the creator of DVD commentaries and then himself
