#Americans who say 'different to' are deeply annoying to me#like get your own errors you don't need those shitty British ones#in American mouths that & 'ginger' elict 'OK Harry Potter' from me#usually said to myself but occasionally aloud#at least 'ginger' just a deranged affectation and not the willful adoption of an error#not British but#don't even get me started about 'based off (of)'#that's another one for the 'what does that even mean' files#a thing is ON its base#case closed#every now & then I have to vent these language issues or I will explode#sorry#in this house we discriminate between acceptable & unacceptable prescriptivism#and I am the judge of where that line falls
