Renji wanted the best for Rukia so he sacrificed their relationship in order for her to be free. 😭

Renji is in love with Rukia, but he's too weak to overcome the odds and too afraid to tell her how he feels because of the possible outcome regarding her being a noble. Rukia wanted Renji to tell her to stay. I can feel it in my bones.

He's begging Ichigo to do what he can't. Save the love of his life.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say that Renji fought to get to Byakugan in order to get to Rukia, but it still wasn't enough. The gap in their status and power is simply too large for Renji to close.

Oh yeah, Byakugan is an asshole for abandoning Renji to die. What a tool.

The title is so gd fitting. Soul Society version of Lady and the Tramp. Rukia clearly feels a way towards Renji and Renji is definitely in love with Rukia, and I'm sure she knew and wanted him to say something, but he just didn't have the gonads to do it. Their love story is kinda tragic

I'm trying to understand how it wasn't obvious that Ichigo felt something beyond friendship for Orihime when this boy came back from the dead to protect her. The DEAD. ☠ He has a hole in his chest from front to back, but hearing Orihime cry for help brings him back to life. And Orihime tried so gd hard to bring him back to life with her powers, but seeing him dead with a gaping hole where his heart used to be, on top of the psychological, mental, and physical torture was beyond too much for a 15-year-old girl to process that it just wasn't working.

I just- these gd kids! I'm so glad they get married at the end. They deserve the world.

And here I was thinking that Ichigo's personal vow to protect Orihime (to her face!) was a blatant display of affection, but then he goes and does this after getting his ass beat to smithereens all because Orihime asked him not to get hurt anymore. My heart is full and my soul is satisfied. This arc has been so amazing for the Karakura Kids, and I'm so grateful and thankful that they finally get spotlight again after spending 100+ chapters being ignored for Soul Society's corrupted ass politics.

Now, the real question is where tf is Chad? He's been missing for the last 20+ chapters!

Ichigo got his butt kicked by a gangster riding a hog, and he dipped after checking his funkadelic clock

Ichigo's so salty that he got beat up by Ganju the Bandana Man, that he's gonna wait for him to come back for Round 2

Ishida's dragging him, and tries to get Orihime to join, but Yoruichi said, "Swiper no swiping"

There's a really guady house with a sealed chimney in the middle of No Man's Land.

The Bonanza Bros. took one look at Yoruichi and instantly went soft. Who says black cats are bad luck?

She has a brother that she's sending on the rescue mission with, 'cause she doesn't trust these kids

Ichigo is worried about y'all Ishida, and as a result, he shoulders an unnecessary burden of Patriarch, which is almost insulting, because on the flip side, it undermines y'alls ability to take care of yourselves.

So, the Kurosaki Klique is on their way to Soul Society using a secret door (because who's going to remember that long, complicated name for it? not I)

Everyone can keep up it seems, except Super Ishida; his cape is not made from otherworldly material it seems

Super Chad, on the other hand, is like, "Here, hold my cape" and pulls Ishida away from danger with his bear hands

And then throws this wimp over his shoulder and carries him off to safety

You can't run without endangering yourself, Ishida. Why would he put you down and your stupid cape down?

The janitor is there to pick up the trash, but not on Orihime's watch

She saves everyone with her magic hairpins!

Ichigo is starting his hero training with Urahobo, and his first job is to beat up a little girl

Byakuya (I just spent the last 5 minutws trying to pronounce this dude's name "Bu-ya-kuya") just one-shot Ichigo, so quickly that Renji got crosseyed

Rukia is horrified! You're killing her twin for no reason. Oh, but it turns out that's her brother.

Rukia really wants to save Ichigo's life, but Tatted Brows just pushed her back; do you want a life sentence on top of the one you already got!?

Then they make their way through the sliding doors to Ye Ole Soul Society

And even though Ichigo thought he was doing the right thing - and he was - he's kinda powerless and now he's in both mental and physical pain, cuz his BFF just dissed him and left him in the rain to waste

So, a lot has happened since my last review; Orihime and Chad awakened their powers, the local douche canoe Ishida put his feelings aside to help fix a problem his dumbass started, and now he's kinda friends with Ichigo! Yay, friendship!

We're introduced to two hotties right out gate. Byakuya and Renji! 😍 Oop, but they seem to have their eyes fixed on Rukia and it does not look pretty

Ichigo invited Ishida to eat lunch on the roof with Keigo and Mizuiro, but he only agreed because he gets a free lunch. He's so much like Ichigo, hiding his feelings behind a bad attitude, but Ishida, you're still a turd for unleashing all those hollows. Ain't nobody forget what you did!

Orihime and friends invite Rukia to eat lunch together, and wow, they straight up asked if she had feelings for Ichigo. 😑 If only y'all kids saw those two interact, you wouldn't be asking that. They're practically the same person, Rukia's just older. They bicker like family, like brother and sister. Can you imagine how Ichigo would respond if someone asked him this dumbass question? 😂

Rukia's clearly upset that she has such strong ties to these kids, especially after only being around them for 2 months, but she seems to love them all dearly. And now, she has to let them all go. I have a feeling that she didn't/doesn't really have friends in SS, if this is how she's feeling.

CALLED IT! Shinigami don't have friends! What kinda morbid lifestyle is that? They exist only to do their jobs, nothing more, nothing less. And now, Rukia is experiencing human emotions that she never should've experienced. SHE GOT CAUGHT UP AND NOW SHE HAS TO THROW IT AWAY!

Bruh, Shinigami are kinda heartless when it comes to their rules, aren't they? First the Quincy, now this?

So, Ichigo hates astrology and fortune telling, but dude looked up his sign to see what his fortune would be, and named all the bad shit that happened to him. 😂 If you look it up and it aligns with what happens, of course you're gonna be like, "This isn't a coincidence!" And now everyone in Karakura Town likes this dumb af tv show about this dude that can see ghosts and does exorcisms.

"BOHAHAHAHA!" Mizuiro only does it to piss Ichigo off, but not because he legit likes it, lmao. Also, Ichigo goes to the town gathering of "Ghost Bust" with his family, even though he hates it, and Orihime, my girl, just swooned because Ichigo's a just a good frickin' guy, because he does things he hates for the people he loves. Not everyone has a heart like that Ichigo, so it's not normal. Orihime has a good eye for men, I tell ya, because Ichigo is 👍🏽.

Even Rukia likes this dumb af tv show now, lol! Also, dude, she doesn't know what television is! Can we just, I dunno, get a spinoff of Soul Society learning the eccentricities of the human world, because I'd be down for that 100%. They don't what wtf FESTIVALS are! Renji/Rukia would definitely honeymoon to the real world if they could, I know it.

So, anyway! There's a hollow, that wasn't a hollow before but thanks to this moronic tv star, we have a hollow now, holed up in a hospital.

I LAUGHED! Ichigo is so dumbfounded by his sword getting stuck in the ceiling. First off, how frickin' tall are you for your sword to reach the ceiling when you swing it, and secondly, why tf are the hospital ceilings so low? Is it a hospital for dwarves, ran by dwarves? 😂

So, we're getting some backstory on Orihime, and her parents were abusive pos. They hit their children if they made noise until they stopped? That's f'cked up to the highest degree! Her brother did right to take her away from that madhouse! They would've killed them! [[MORE]]

Bruh, Orihime literally just confessed in front of her brother that she wanted him to hear about the people she liked, and you see Ichigo's face in the next panel right tf after that, which is EXACTLY how it was in the pilot! Like, okay, maybe IchiHime didn't get the development folks THINK it should've got, but that shit right there is a dead gd ringer that this was the intended endgame. But I digress! Orihime, your self-sacrificing right here is giving me bad juju.

😭 I feel so bad for her! This would traumatize anyone! She got her hairpins from her brother, but after his death, she wears them everyday! Yes, Tatsuki! SCOLD HER! SHE SHOULD'VE LET ICHIGO WALK HER HOME! (Also, I forgot to mention this before, but if Ichigo was attacked by Orihime's hollowfied brother, then that means the same idea from the pilot where her father attacked her instead is being used here! 👍🏽) Tatsuki is so lewd, lmfao. Orihime's way too pure to jump Ichigo's bones, though I still maintain the notion that she should've let him walk her home, especially since he offered after fretting over her like he did!

Also, Orihime and Tatsuki were introduced! As well as one of Ichigo's friends, Kojima. Looks like Ichigo has some regular high school friends after all, even though he carries himself like a thug. Also, Orihime laughing at Ichigo's standard grumpy face is the best. Anyway...

Looks like since Ichigo isn't a real shinigami like Rukia, rather his soul is, whenever he goes into Shinigami!Mode (I'll be referring to it as hero mode from now on), his body just falls wherever he is at the moment, and I can only imagine a billion scenarios of him going Hero, and his body is just in the most obscene places. 🤣

That's right Rukia! Chew his dumb ass out for what he said about not helping strangers. Yeah, there's sense in what you say; you wouldn't travel halfway across Japan looking for hollows, but you still do what you can, when you can because it's the right thing to do. But, I can't fault him too much, because he didn't hesitate to help a person in need at the first sign of trouble. Ichigo is a real life superhero, someone you could count on to be there in a pinch, no matter what. He's such a good guy, but he'd probably get embarrassed if someone pointed it out. Also, he and Rukia clearly seem to be cut from the same cloth, cause she's such a good person! They're some similar that she'd be the PERFECT mentor for him!

Hahahaha! They found Ichigo's limp body on the roof! 🤣 If this isn't a running gag, I'm going to be gravely disappointed!

Oookay, I'm finally starting Bleach from the beginning. Just read Ch. 0., or The Pilot chapter, featuring Ichigo, Rukia, and Orihime.

I love that Ichigo's character isn't the happy-go-lucky goofy "Goku" archetype. Instead, he's straightforward, honest, and sarcastic. His kindness isn't attached to that "airhead" quality that most shounen protagonists have, and I appreciate that. tldr; Ichigo is a breath of fresh air! [[MORE]]

Rukia is similar to him! In fact, I got mentor/big sister vibes from her, so I'm looking forward to how much their friendship develops from here. And then, there's Orihime. Y'know, I heard and read a lot of awful things about her before ever becoming acquainted with the Bleach fandom, but I like her. I know that most people automatically hate kind female characters, most times without reason and at the expense of shipping or whatever excuse they use, but I prefer naturally kind, sweet characters to "strong," "snarky" characters. Kindness is a strength, one of the best qualities a person can possess, and too often it's seen as a weakness when it should be considered the ideal. But worse than that, it's only ever considered a weakness when a women possesses it, and I'm just not down for the overt sexism/misogyny of this idea.

Lastly, I'm aware of Ichigo/Orihime and Ichigo/Rukia dumb af ship war from ages pass, especially when it came to "which should've been canon," but this pilot chapter, imho, makes it clear that Ichigo and Orihime had feelings for each other, no matter if it's subtle on Ichigo's part or not. There is a tenderness and softness there that's really sweet, but I'm aware too that Bleach is not a romance manga and therefore said genre won't be taking precedence over its other themes, but regardless, I look forward to seeing their relationship grow.

Did I say Renji and Byakuya were hot. Renji, you're kinda not on Byakuya's level right now. Maybe later, when Kubo draws you more attractively.
