My first infographic, focused on my highlighting system, which I’ve learned makes some turn their head in “What is that, what are you doing” so I thought I’d share in case it could help someone else! I’m not at all sure I was able to properly explain how it works (mostly because it came very naturally to me), but in case you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me!

Hello November 🍁
Hi everyone! I'm taking up the November Studying Challenge by @getshitdonetbh and I was so excited that I managed to drag out my rare artsy side.
For the first day of November, today, we joined the neighbors and watched Annabelle Creation. Frankly, I was so terrified I'm probably going to sleep with the lights on tonight. I hate horror movies xD
How about you? How did you greet November?

10.29.2017 ((7/100)) Days of Productivity
One week! I feel so proud of myself, and I can already hear my grandma’s voice “You want a prize for doing your job?” Thank you grandma, for your neverding support.
Anyway! Today I got most of my writing done for the current chapter which will be concluded tomorrow, worked on a few more translations, busied myself with housechores since I couldn’t go grocery shopping because of the insistent wind (bad for my asthma, we don’t go out when it’s windy), and yes, you’re seeing it right there in the picture, I found an app on my iPad that let me highlight on PDFs! Hilariously, after a couple of tries with apps that wouldn’t just start, I ended up finding out that the PDF reader I had already been using for years also did highlighting and notes. Typical me. Still proud of myself.
I also posted the infographic I had mentioned about my highlighting system, and you can find it HERE if you still haven’t checked it out!
Featuring the portion of the table that is constantly overwhelmed with books and stuff to be done, @emmastudies’ October background calendar (I’m just realising that there are just 2 days before the end of the month and I need to get/make myself a November one), and a cup of tea about to be done.
P.S. In another ‘typical me’ moment, I’m thinking about changing theme because the one I currently have is still not completely convincing me. Any suggestions on good theme creators?

10.30.2017 ((8/100)) Days of Productivity
Late on schedule because my internet decided to go on a short vacation, but I managed, in the end. Today was either lazier than usual, or I’m starting to gain speed and therefore I find myself with more time. It’s possibly none of the two, but the fact that I didn’t have to save the house from itself today, so I had more time to concentrate on studying. Right on time I finised taking notes on this chapter and tomorrow I’ll start the next one! Only 6 chapters to the end of this 900 pages monster. Incredible. Featuring the spread of the last 4 days of the week that has just ended (and my Hannibal sticker from the Radiance fananthology <3). I’m trying (big word here, trying) to get my hand used to drawing again. I love using a pen for this because it takes away my obsession with doing everything right, so I can simply follow the lines and see where they take me, with some healthy dose of improvisation when stuff irremediably doesn’t go as planned. I’ll keep you posted on my struggles. Have a nice beginning of the week, everyone!

10.27.2017 ((5/100)) Days of Productivity
Slightly late on schedule, things were done and chapters were summarized and apartment was cleaned and hair was cut, and exhaustion was had. It’s a good exhaustion though, the kind that I can’t complain about because it was needed and well deserved after jumping left and right all day.
I finally managed to finish the chapter on sex and the brain, I can’t wait to read the next one tomorrow! I wanted to go to the library today to take some photos there, but allergy has been killing me since I started cleaning around, and I thought filling the silence of the libraries with my sneezes wasn’t the best idea. Good job, Etra.
I’m also planning on moving psychiatry lessons on my iPad since they’re on PDF, so I can read a bit when I go to bed. It’s a slightly old model (iPad 2 - make it actually ancient), does anyone know some cool apps I can use to highlight and write notes on the lessons?
P.S. Featuring half a week spread of my journal, with some obnoxious stickers which I love very very much (they’re so bright in colors they look photoshopped, I’m amazed lol), and the last notes on the today’s chapter.

10.31.2017 ((9/100)) Days of Productivity
First of all: happy Halloween to everyone!!! I don’t know if it’s clear enough by now, but I constantly update at 1 or 2am of the day after, so I find myself wishing you a good 31st when here it’s already November. Oh well, one reason more to show off @emmastudies’ new wallpaper <3 thank you so much for doing them, I love mine, I keep staring at it instead of working.
Big day with relatively little study done, as I cleaned the entire house and it might be already clear from the picture but the table is now against the wall, so laptop and screen switched places. I still have to get used to it, but at least I don’t have the big windows blinding me the entire time. It’s a step forward. Today’s chapter of neuroscience was all about sleep and brain rhythms, and I mean, nothing better to remind myself of my awful sleeping habits. Also featuring the new doodle covering this week’s spread. I don’t dislike the idea of finding something to draw that covers both pages every time, but I also was having fun with my gel pen. Mh, this is hard. Still, I’m incredibly happy I’ve been doodling again, it’s like reconnecting to a part of myself I was regretfully leaving behind.
But now it’s time to go to bed and read the next lesson of psychiatry. I hope everyone has fun, and I’ll see you tomorrow with the start of @getshitdonetbh‘s november challenge! (shoutout to @justjasminestudying for organizing a challenge as well, I’m not sure I’ll be able to follow both, but y’all should check them out and fill this november with awesomeness <3)

11.01.2017 ((10/100)) Days of Productivity
Tfw you have already talked about your day in the novemberstudychallenge post and now you don’t know what to say. Anyway. The sky was so beautiful when the moon started to rise tonight! Had to take a pic. Other photo taken together with the one in the studychallenge post, although this one shows that I was working my way through the second psychiatry lesson revolving around schizophrenia.
Psychobiology is incredibly interesting, and studying it together with neurology is making me understand better how drugs and their side-effects work. I used to be one of those that believed the system was faulty or half-assed because you couldn’t solve 1 issue without causing yourself other 4 or 5, but I totally get now that I was being ignorant. The more I learn about neurobiology, the more I understand what a labyrinth it is, and how difficult it is to target one single function of a certain X, without affecting all the other ones.
If it will give me nothing else, this session of study started this late summer will make me more understanding and consequently less anxious about drugs’ side effects (and for someone like me who has to take a lot, this is so important).
But enough serious talk, time to hit amazon and vent my shopping urge by filling my wishlist with things I’ll never buy. Wish you all a good night <3
P.S. For some reason @emmastudies‘ background has a warm cream color on my main screen (the bigger one), and a white one on the second. What sorcery is this.

10.25.2017 ((3/100)) Days of Productivity
Today was incredibly busy, and had me spend most of my day outside the house. Paradoxically, I felt like I hadn’t fulfilled the productivity challenge because I hadn’t spent enough time studying, but then I mentally recalled the day and lost the argument against myself: I did a lot (including driving 230 km/142 miles), even if the majority of it wasn’t studying. So I’m ending the evening with a well deserved (but even more so needed) hot tea and a few pages of neuroscience, in a sad attempt at compensating what I couldn’t do today. In the picture also my new and thus still empty journal (at this point whenever I see something made with recycled paper I have an unstoppable urge to buy it) with a misaligned weekly spread that I hope is giving you all nightmares. It has a reason for me, and I’m planning on making a post about it in the near future. Also starring in the picture my copy of the hannigram fan anthology Radiance, which was an incredible thing to come home to.
Tomorrow another big day, and moral of the story is: be kind to yourself, but also be fair. When you don’t meet your standards and think you’re not doing or being enough, try to look at it from an unbiased point of view, and try to give yourself some credit.

Romantic date atmosphere with psychiatry: check (aka “This is nice, I’m not getting back in until I get pneumonia)
11.02.2017 ((11/100)) Days of Productivity
I’m starting to think there’s some kind of curse keeping me in the house every single time I decide to go out. Remember how I wanted to go out but it was windy? Remember how I wanted to go out but it was the 1st of november and everything was closed? Remember how I wanted to go out today but I had to receive a package from amazon and it only arrived to me well into the afternoon? How can this keep on happening, lol
Anyway, promo moment: after finding out that my PDF reader on the iPad also allows me to highlight and add comments, the next thing I needed was some kind of pen with a fine tip that could work for relatively detailed work like highlighting the right word instead of the word + 4 letters of the one before that. Went on amazon and looked for pens that were compatible with old models, purchased one, and crossed my fingers. Well, it turns out that it works perfectly! If any of you has an older iPad model (but it also works for smartphones, tablets, and most touchscreens) and wants some fancy pen to highlight text in a fancy way, check out MoKo Active Stylus Pen
Tumblr media
It’s pretty cheap and does its job! (My version is slightly different from amazon.it) Comes with USB charger and works up to 8 hours of non-stop work (with the fine tip; the bigger touch-ball doesn’t require for the pen to be turned on).
I was so enthusiastic about it that today I pushed momentarily back neuroscience so I could keep on studying psychiatry lessons on the iPad. No regrets.
Lastly, shoutout to @diaryofastressedoutstudent for being an angel. Check out their blog and leave some love!
P.S. Can we just talk about how beautiful Momentum’s background was today?

The joy of having stuff to do but you gotta do it in the lovely city of Verona, bathed in autumn colors. All the love <3 I solved my problem with the bank, found a new small and cozy bookshop selling hand-made notebooks, ate chestnuts, and came back home with new energies for house chores and the long process of writing down the notes of the chapter of neuroscience I'm currently studying (sex and the brain). My black pen is very quickly dying, so tomorrow will be emergency stationary shopping day.
Featuring a page of my notes (rigorously on recycled paper), the cover of my bujo, and @emmastudies' desktop background, which I love very much and is also saving me from my constant state of "where am I what's my name what day is it" I appreciate it very much.

10.28.2017 ((6/100)) Days of Productivity
I can’t believe I’m almost one week into @emmastudies’ challenge. How did time pass so quickly?!
Today was a day of readings and translations; I finished chapter 18 of neuroscience (all about emotions, which can be swiftly summarized with “We have no fucking idea what’s going on here, but look, if you put electricity in there they act like a puppet haha”) and I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s note taking session - I’m definitely starting to feel the rush to the end of the book, only 7 chapters left. I’m currently moving my psychiatry lessons on my iPad, and then I’ll look for some app that might help me study on it. I’ll keep you posted on my findings, I’m sure (I hope! *sobs*) I’m not the only one dealing with technology of two generations ago. Last but not least, I’m preparing an unasked for post about my highlighting system that accompanied me through long and tough exams where I didn’t have the time to summarize chapters in neat notebooks, and it should be out tomorrow or the day after at most. I hope it will be of some help!
I’m also happy af because autumn has finally arrived, and together with autumn chestnuts also came <3 I can’t resist them. Random trivia that some might not know, I have no idea whether this is shared in other countries or even in other parts of Italy: when you get a chestnut that is perfectly divided in half by the inner skin (how do you even call it, omg), it is said to be a lucky one. You eat both halves together and make a wish!

Starting the 100 dop today! I’m kind of not really confident about this because 100 days seem like a long journey, but I know I can pull this off with a bit of patience and motivation, so wish me luck lol
1/100 Rereading about the diffuse modulatory systems of the brain to make sure I got everything before going forward to the next chapters. Completely unexpectedly, the more I move towards higher brain functions that were my goal since the beginning, the more I find myself missing the initial chapters about biochemistry. What is this how is this possible this is not me
+ Pics of my current desk, and my laptop gently filling the air with the sound of raining. Does wonders to my concentration. HERE and HERE two versions that I usually swap at random, if someone wants to listen to them :3
