TIME TO DIE MEME ! // accepting // 12: Drowning and some other side effects of being underwater. less gorey. babyfights but in the middle of the port
Lovecraft recedes into the ocean and Chuuya’s mistake was trying to follow him.
Not that Lovecraft would have let Chuuya do anything else, but the tentacle that flung Chuuya into the water wasn’t fought as much as it could have been. Lovecraft doesn’t know why the man’s so determined to finish the fight, especially now that Lovecraft’s managed to get in deep enough waters to let his form fully unravel into the behemoth, but he is not going to argue, because Chuuya hitting the water will be the last thing he does.
His body is the ocean’s now, and Lovecraft will ensure this.
Chuuya makes an impressive attempt to stay above water, but there isn’t enough medium for him to reduce the gravity of enough to float. Combined with the waves crashing into him, gaining in force as Chuuya manipulates surrounding gravity and Lovecraft continually wrapping limbs around the mafioso to yank him under the waves, he won’t be able to resurface.
Go as far as you like.
It won’t do anything.
Chuuya inhales water inadvertently and tentacles coil around his ankle and pull downward. He resists the urge to cough, worsening the saltwater burning in his chest. Void bursts into being around his hand; while he can’t see much of anything amid the waves except for the massive greenish presence of Lovecraft before him, he can aim by guessing.
A black hole is flicked toward the things holding his leg. It makes impact, rending a hole in Lovecraft’s tentacles that lasts a couple seconds before he can set about regenerating.
Freed, Chuuya attempts to break surface again, lungs burning.
He does not get far. More tentacles coil around his knee and yank him back down again, like he’s being toyed with, brought further down inch by inch. Chuuya snarls, bubbles swarming past his teeth. Fine then.
Lovecraft pulls him down deeper, watching Chuuya struggle.
A fact about the ocean: once it owns something, it does not return it easily. The ocean is an impassive force, but sacrifices made to it are not regurgitated. Chuuya will die here, one way or another. It does not take much depth to induce decompression if Chuuya rises back up too quickly.
One way or another, the current will consume Chuuya.
Lovecraft watches him fight through recessed eyes, impassively surveying damage as pulses of gravity rip at currents and his limbs, Chuuya doing his best to free himself from the depths and Lovecraft’s grip. It’s easier now than on land, when the black holes Chuuya creates only serve to push him deeper underwater as he inadvertently manipulates currents and water density to shove him further down in a forming maelstrom.
Drowning tends not to take terribly long, as far as Lovecraft’s noticed. His only problem now is standing still amidst the current.
So Lovecraft not particularly worried when bands of red start creeping over Chuuya’s skin. Chuuya has played his last resort, either assuming that he’s going to die so may as well take a section of Lovecraft with him, or with the futile hope that Corruption will, at least, let him be free long enough to breathe. It will not let him be free enough to breathe. Lovecraft will ensure that much; he’s taken far too much validation out of finally being able to drown Chuuya to let a singularity stop him. Lovecraft takes the last bands of tentacles left around Chuuya’s ankles and throws him as far down as he can, resulting in a nice plume of silt as Chuuya hits bottom. He hits harder than he should, the gravity sinks forming around his hands keeping him from being slowed by water resistance.
Two things happen at roughly the exact same time:
A large section of Lovecraft’s upper body implodes as Chuuya manages to fling a black hole at him.
Water pressure increases drastically.
Fighting with gravity underwater is very different than above. In air, there is not much of a problem outside of gusts. Underwater, pressure increases to the point where the sudden shift makes even Lovecraft uncomfortable.
It does not work well for Chuuya.
The pressure difference of the water attempting to pile itself on him and his singularity, much as the singularity may be trying to absorb it, collapses his lungs, water pushing over remaining air spaces with enough force to break bone. The singularity around Chuuya’s hand flickers.
With its weakening, Lovecraft is free without the prospect of vaporization to curl tentacles around Chuyya, taking the job of crushing him as his own. He does so vengefully, decidedly pleased he won’t have to deal with this abomination any further as the mafioso crackles to pieces under his grip.
He will make for decent marine snow, if nothing else, as the ocean levels itself back out, taking pieces of bone and tissue with it on the waves as Lovecraft unravels his limbs.
There is not anything recognizable remaining.
The behemoth bubbles to himself, satisfied of a job over and an annoyance dealt with.

“Why is everyone so loud outside...Damn I really wish there was a volume button for reality.” Though it didn’t help that this little trip of his was going to be a bit longer then he expected. Seeing that...He was lost. Way to go Shintaro. Finally swallowing down his pride, and fear, he approached a stranger that seemed to have been doing nothing. Before Shintaro did speak, the NEET couldn’t help to think to himself that they sure were dressed rather oddly...Almost as if they were from some sort of Gangster B movie.
“Uhm...Hey do you mind helping me? Kind of lost...Unless you’re busy with some sort of movie scene or whatever.”

❝ hey kid, you want me to take you for ice cream or somethin'? ❞
◣ ✿ ◥ “Yes.” No hesitation in her voice–there was no question as to whether or not she wanted to get ice cream. Ah, but he asked if she wanted him to take her, right? The answer was still yes, even though she hardly knew him; she’d seen him around Kouyou before, but aside from slight formality, they’d never directly interacted. For the sake of politesse, she added, “Please.”
