Ezra stood to the sidelines, the gold leaf crown atop his head reflecting the light in a way that could almost make him appear angelic. Even if that were far from the truth. Glass in one hand, he sipped from the ruby coloured liquid inside, nose shrivelling momentarily in distaste. Surely this stuff was watered down, he could barely taste anything over the cheap grapes.

Looking up from his wine to the crowds around, he's soon to notice a familiar figure - and a smile grows. Finally someone fun. Weaving his way around the various party goers, he appears behind Astrid, reaching out an arm to balance over her shoulder as he looks out ahead. "So. Are you as bored as I am? I thought vampires were usually able to put on a good show. Perhaps I gave them too much credit." He tuts, raising a brow. "I was almost tempted to... enhance a bottle of wine. Just to liven things up, of course."

Slowly turning his head to look at her, there's a distinctly wicked look in his eye. "My dear, you look stunning. However, you're starting to look a little tired under the eyes. Could that be a few wrinkles? You should pay me a visit sometime after all this party business. I know the perfect facialist." He remains straight faced for a beat - just long enough to tease - before he allows a low laugh to slip out, the amusement clear. "What? I'm only trying to help."

The run in with Matthew had left the fallen deity feeling more irritated and hungry than he was before. Now he felt like his stomach was rumbling, aching to be filled by something other than mundane food. The demon had left the feeding cages behind and now he was searching for Astrid. She was the only one she trusted to find him something to eat, something corrupt enough to sate him.

He found her tucked away, already looking like she had enjoyed a few meals herself that night. "Astrid," he said curtly, pulling her attention away from her plaything. "I need..." he trailed off, distracted by Astrid's toy. His hunger was distracting him now, making him growl in frustration. The young demon had been on his case about his self imposed abstinence and would likely tease him but he needed her help now.

"I'm hungry," he said finally, hoping she wouldn't make him spell it out.

After a reasonably successful raid on the other classrooms, Isko was able to get away with a bag of chocolates and a single red rose and he had one person in mind to give them too. He stepped out of class early, ignoring the complaints from his teacher. At this point, what was the worst thing they could do? Hold him back? It had already been threatened enough that the threat had lost all meaning to Isko.

As the bell rung, he stood back to lean against the lockers, watching each person file out of the classroom until he saw the one he was looking for. "Hey, valentine," he greeted, holding the rose out towards her. "I thought we could skip club and go have some fun."

MATTHEW ALEXANDER | CLASS 3A | CALLIGRAPHY CLUB

⋆ What grade is your character in? Class 3A. He is also class president and he takes Japanese as a second language.

⋆ What extracurricular club do they take part in? Matthew is in Japanese calligraphy club. He finds the art form extremely therapeutic and looks forward to club time each week as an escape from the stresses of academic life. He secretly wishes he could pursue calligraphy full time, but he knows that this is an impossible dream.

⋆ What are their goals in school and beyond? Matthew is on track to university and is currently awaiting his entrance exam results. He is going to get into the top university in the country and go on to become a doctor in his father's footsteps.

⋆ What is their home life like? Matthew comes from a well-to-do family since his single father is a renowned heart surgeon. His father has been extremely strict with him ever since his mother died when Matthew was a young child. He pressures him to follow in his footsteps to become a doctor, and Matthew's desire to make his father proud is what pushes him to over-excel in school.

His father recently remarried to a nurse he met in the hospital and she brought with her a son named Luke who is now Matthew's stepbrother. Luke and Matthew are still learning to get along after living together. Matthew lords being a few months older than Luke over his head as a way to get his new stepbrother to behave, but it does not often work out the way he wants it to...

⋆ What is their school life like? Are they academically gifted? Are they popular? Are they introverted? Are they a delinquent? Matthew is a straight-A student and has been since he entered Vievecor Academy in Class 1A. He has kept his grades up and is always ranked academically amongst the top 3 each year. Being class president means that he is generally favoured by his class as they trust him to lead them and he puts on a confident and no-nonsense front when it comes to anything related to school. He is also seen as a role model and is nice and kind to others because it is expected of him, but he finds it extremely exhausting deep down (hence the need to escape to calligraphy club when he can). Due to the stresses of academic life, Matthew sometimes turns to drugs (e.g. Ritalin) to help him study.

⋆ How are they going to spend Valentine's Week this year? Now that his third year at Vievecor Academy is almost over, Matthew is starting to regret not having more fun in the past. He does not wish for this Valentine's Week to go to waste and has told himself to be more open and accepting of having fun with his friends and schoolmates. He hopes that the school can see another side to him that is not all studious and serious...

⋆ Do they have a crush on anyone? Do they wish to confess to their crush? Given Matthew's hyper focus on doing well at school, his social life is not the best even if others almost see him as a beacon of perfection in Vievecor Academy. Girls tend to flock to him and have confessed to him over the years, but he always turns them down. He has known he was gay since first year but refuses to act on it even when he has crushes on a good number of male students in Vievecor Academy. His inexperience in this area of his life gets him flustered whenever he receives overt male attention and being housemates with Luke Holt does not help.

What are their goals in school and beyond?

Right now she has her eye on being recognized as the queen of the school. With spring around the corner, she has her eye on being queen of the upcoming festival. After that, she wants to get into a good university.

What is their home life like?

Isabelle is perfectly content with her homelife. Her sister and father are a bit embarrassing given their more zen nature. She cannot fathom how both could be so carefree when there is so much that needs to be accomplished. She takes far more after her workaholic mother who pushes Belle to be the best version of herself.

She fancies herself as a Queen Bee. She has everything that she desires. If anyone dares to challenge her authority, she will destroy them. She is academically gifted but would much rather socialize than study.

Caia was still trying to figure out how they felt about being back in Vievecor City. For one, there were those elvish ruins that she so desperately wanted to visit, on the other there was that annoying Council to deal with, but on another flip side there were people here that they had not seen in many years and it was always good to catch up.

The last message Caia had sent to Astrid had been a few years ago and it had been written on a small piece of paper, attached to the leg of a pigeon and sent to the demon. It did not contain much apart from telling Astrid that they believed she would enjoy the town of Tofo, after which Caia had ventured on to their next destination and disappeared off the radar.

She decided to surprise her demon friend that evening and turned up at her club in Hedon. Clubs were not Caia's particular brand of entertainment, but there were many things they would willingly subject themself to for a good friend and Astrid was one of them.

When pushing their way through the crowd became too tedious, Caia pulled one of the servers close and asked them to send a message to Astrid Lundquist, telling her that there was an elf looking for her. Now all Caia had to do was wait.

The sound of voices inside made him pause, and he waited for a moment of quiet before knocking. "Astrid? I wanted to talk with you."

Chris was one of the people watching over donors in the alcoves for the first hours of the party until someone came to replace him. The smell of different types of blood all around him had drifted between heady and nauseating throughout his time there. He ended up lingering at the threshold of the room, trying to decide whether he was actually hungry or if it was just from seeing so many vampires around him doing it.

He was still mulling this over with a frown on his face when he realized that there was someone in front of him and he was practically glaring at her. "Sorry. I was spacing out. Do you need help finding anything?" Yes he was technically off duty now, but it just came out.

He had gotten back into town a week ago and came straight back into the news of wild beasts and murders. Everyone seemed more on edge and he was met with then some less than friendly stares as he took up residence at a bar table. His whiskey remained on the table, fingers tapping along the glass as he watched the crowd. There might have been a murderer on the loose but it didn't stop being from drinking and enjoying themselves.

Amongst the crowd, he caught a glimpse of a familiar face. One that shouldn't have been out this late and Ursa knew her parents would feel the same way. He got up and went to the bar, slipping into the space behind her while she was flirting the ear off her companion. "Isn't it past your curfew, Miss Lundquist?" he asked, leaning down to speak beside her ear. "I bet your daddy wouldn't be too pleased if he found out you were here."

ABSYNTHIA is the biggest demon-run nightclub in the district of Hedon. Taking up an entire abandoned warehouse that was built in the 1800s, this club is popular amongst all the inhabitants of Vievecor City because it often boasts the best line-up of techno DJs in the world. 

The main room of this club is focused on techno with state of the art sound systems and almost floor to ceiling subwoofers set to bring the house down every night. There are smaller rooms on the second level featuring house music.

The club’s opening hours are from 8pm to 8am every day.

What some unwitting humans and supernatural patrons do not know is that Absynthia is also a club where they can enter with their soul, but their body might leave with another. (See the spirit ability ‘body-hopping’ HERE.) 

Demons, spirits and dark witches prowl this club to tempt and trick these patrons into surrendering their bodies by making deals or going into demon contracts with them known as exchanges. This is especially tempting to humans who believe that they are being promised the ‘most transcendental experience of their lives’. Supernaturals are less likely to be tricked, but this is not always the case. 

These exchanges commonly involve a person with a host body, a foreign spirit and a demon or dark witch who brokers the deal. In these exchanges, the foreign spirit is able to take hold of a host body and exist in it for the length of time stipulated in the deal. During this time the soul of the host body will exist as a spirit and be able to experience everything about being a spirit before a demon or dark witch can help to remove the foreign spirit from the host body. This does not often pan out as demons and dark witches have been known to revoke the deal/contract without reason.

This makes Absynthia a dangerous place to enter, but given the lawlessness of Hedon and the technical lack of loss of life and deals being struck, there is little that the other species can do about these exchanges.

A handwritten card arrives at some point in Matthew's jacket pocket.

"Sorry for the mistletoe mishap. I owe you one.

Matthew placed his hand in his pocket only to have his fingers brush against a card he knew did not belong there. When he pulled it out, the handwriting on it was not one he recognised, but rumour had it at the Christmas Ball that a certain demon had been the culprit behind the mistletoe and this card confirmed it.

The fallen deity did not have any quarrel with Astrid because of who she was to Ursa. But knowing that she had a heavy hand in all the drama around Christmas had his mood darkening. Matthew was going to have to collect on what Astrid promised him at some point, but that time had not yet come and he could think on what she could possibly do for him in exchange for putting him through so much grief in the meantime...
