Hades the Game the Play

Here are my ideas:

- the entire play takes place in the lounge of the House

- Zagreus is off-stage for most of it. He runs in right at the beginning, right before intermission, and at the very end, usually being chased by Theseus or yelling at his dad. Sometimes we see him as a shadow puppet in the background fighting through the Underworld

- The entire play is conversations in the lounge. Characters like Meg, Hypnos, Than, Nyx, Dusa, Orpheus, Achilles, and the Wretched Broker come in and out. They are essentially in Waiting for Godot, commiserating in the bar about their heartaches and difficulties. Zag is not there.

- Achilles and Orpheus get drunk and cry and sing bad ballads about lost loves

- the chef is chopping onions the whole time in the corner of the set

- The audience gets to be the Olympians. We give them beanbags. They have to toss them at Zag’s actor who has to scoop as many of them as possible

- Dusa is a puppet and she get hauled up into the rafters whenever she exits the stage

- At the end of the play, after the bows, Zag’s actor comes on stage and says, “Tell Father I went... THAT WAY” and then books it for the theater exit.

- When theatergoers exit, they find him dead in a puddle of blood in the lobby.
