One day I will make a post about La chute de la maison Usher by Jean Epstein, thé world need to know about this film.
Like, imagine :
It's a film produced in 1928 with the most beautiful pictures in black and white I have ever seen (every screenshot I took could be a painting I swear), the actors are incredibles, Jean Debucourt managed to perfectly play Roderick Usher's slowly consuming madness, and there's scenes that will stay in my brain forever (i'm looking at you, scene where Roderick is spiraling through his madness, his pale silhouette on a black screen like he's alone in the house while in reality he's just trapped in his own brain. The music becomes distorted, the screen is shaking and we see the scene in double and the clock is ticking at an abnormal speed ). Epstein managed to adapt Usher's madness that was told by the narrator in the short story, on the screen. He distorted the pictures, showed Usher alone, showed what was his vision and what he heard.
And that's one of the (numerous) reason I love this film

List of Poe's references in the song Buried Alive by Creature Feature
I love Poe's work and I'm always delighted when I find references of his works. I discovered this song today and while I read the lyrics I noticed some titles of Poe's works, so I decided to do further research and I realised that this song is nearly entirely made of titles of Poe's poems and short stories.
