The Order of the Ancients is the precursor to the Templars. When you finish all of the Order of the Ancients in Valhalla, you learn that the Aelfred is founding the Templars. It makes sense that the symbolism carries over but the only flaw in that is that shay had it before he became a Templar but shay has it to reflect upon his Celtic Irish heritage with the Celtic tree of life and that Otso Berg has one because of his Norse ancestry so It makes sense!!
