Blade-Free LASIK & SMILE Surgery in Delhi by Dr. Rajiv Bajaj
Leading LASIK Surgery in Delhi by Dr. Rajiv Bajaj – Safe, Precise Results.
Experience advanced, blade-free LASIK surgery in Delhi with Dr. Rajiv Bajaj. Specializing in SMILE and laser eye surgery for precise, safe vision correction.
LASIK Technology
Any LASIK procedure consists of two steps:
CREATING A CORNEAL FLAP
TREATING THE UNDERLYING CORNEA WITH A LASER
now we shall discuss the above two points in detail…
creating a corneal flap.
Corneal flap can be created either using a blade or using a laser called femtosecond laser. We at BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE use the best of technologies for both of the techniques. In BLADE LASIK we create a flap using not a surgical blade but an instrument called automated computerized microkeratome. For flap creation with microkeratome we use the world’s best and trusted MORIA ONE USE PLUS SBK microkeratome which has a capability of producing very thin flaps measuring equivalent to 90 microns. This technique is called SBK LASIK (sub bowmans keratomileusis ). The thinner flap in the range of 90 microns ( 1 mm is equivalent to 1000 microns ) has obvious advantages.
More residual cornea is left behind thus leaving a thicker residual cornea for a lifelong normal functioning.
Since the flap is cut at a superficial level it results in a lesser dry eyes postoperatively allowing the patient to resume all his activities no sonnertha the next day onwards.
Moria one use plus microkeratome produces very smooth flaps almost equivalent to a femto second laser, thus the post operative vision is very good.
Thinner flaps settle down very quickly with no corneal folds and swelling thus the patient recovers vision almost immediately that is within 15 to 20 minutes postoperatively… a wow factor for SBK lasik. In BLADELESS or BLADEFREE LASIK we are using the most advanced ZEISS VISUMAX FEMTOSECOND laser machine and we take pride in having the first installation in whole of north Delhi for this.
Advantages of FEMTO FLAP on ZEISS machine… hundred percent blade free lasik. Painfree. Very precise and accurate flaps. Fast… IT takes only a few seconds to make a flap. Least expected complications which may occur on other technologies besides Zeiss platform. Flap related complications associated with microkeratomes are minimized or absent with the femtolasik, as it is more precise and more accurate. Femto flaps are more stronger in nature and fit more snugly to the base cornea comparatively.
THE SECOND STEP: TREATING THE CORNEA BENEATH THE FLAP WITH EXCIMER LASER
Here the cornea is reshaped according to the refractive status of the patient. various profiles currently in use are…
Planolasik it is the basic correction which corrects the spherical and cylindrical components of the refractive errors. The disadvantages include post operative glares and haloes especially in higher numbers, the advantage being it is cheaper.
Customised lasik ( clasik ) here a customization is attempted to be done according to patients corneal and total irregularities called abberations ( higher order abberations …HOA’S). however the drawback in most of the systems is that they are unable to pick up the abberations accurately and after treating them may land up in further abberations and problems caused by them.
Wavefront optimized aspheric lasik….this is supposedly the best technology, here the normal prolate shape of the cornea is maintained even postoperatively which mimics the preoperative shape. Advantages include absence or minimal postoperative glare and haloes which are a part of standard lasik. At BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE we use an advanced profile of aspheric wavefront optimized lasik at ZEISS MEL 80 platform, a GERMAN technology which are the world leaders in opto electronics.
Contoura lasik: this is just a form of topography guided correction lasik and not much different from conventional lasik.
Conclusion:
Dr. Rajiv Bajaj is a leading expert in LASIK surgery in Delhi, offering advanced, blade-free techniques like SMILE to provide safe and effective vision correction. His state-of-the-art approach ensures precision and comfort, making him a trusted choice for those seeking freedom from glasses or contact lenses. Whether it's traditional LASIK or the latest SMILE procedure, Dr. Bajaj's expertise guarantees optimal results for long-term visual clarity.

Risks Factors for Lasik Surgery In Delhi - lasik delhi
Lasik Risks During Surgery
LASIK is one the most commonly performed laser vision correction procedures worldwide. More than 16 million procedures have been performed globally since 1990s. Complications that may lead to loss of vision are extremely rare. However certain side effects of this procedure like dry eyes, glare and haloes are temporary in nature and are not that uncommon. These side effects usually clear up in some weeks to months time and are not considered to be a major problem by majority of patients.
RISKS include…
Post operative dry eyes. Some of the patients may experience dry eyes after the procedure .
This is due to a temporary reduction in tear production, due to severing of corneal nerves during flap making. Dry eyes may last upto six months and is usually managed by tear film substitutes. However in our experience the thinner the flap is made the less severe is the dry eyes, due to preservation of some of the nerves which enter the cornea at a deeper level. We at BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE usually make thin flaps which are 90 microns thick either using a blade, the technique called SBK lasik or using a FEMTO LASER from CARL ZEISS GERMANY (VISUMAX ) which is capable of making flaps as thin as 80 to 90 microns thick ( BLADE FREE LASIK ). Another advancement which has been made in the field of laser vision correction procedures is the latest and THIRD GENERATION procedure called SMILE which is flapless and bladeless. Since no flap is made in SMILE it results in least dry eyes and the patient is able to return to his routine work like working on a computer, laptop etc with in a span of 1 to 2 days post operatively. BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE takes pride to have the first installation of the SMILE machine in the whole of north Delhi.
GLARE AND HALOES Some patients experience glare at night post procedure, this usually lasts a few days to few weeks. The type of laser profile used during the procedure matters in causation of glare and haloes. We at BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE use an ASPHERIC WAVE FRONT OPTIMIZED PROFILE on MEL 80 excimer laser machine which is responsible of least glare and haloes problems in our patients.
Under corrections and overcorrections though not that common but may happen.
A small amount of under correction may not matter much. One may need an enhancement procedure later on within a year to achieve the desired goal.
Overcorrections. If the laser exceeds the target and remove an extra amount of tissue, it results in overcorrection. A proper preoperative planning and workup helps preventing in overcorrections
and under corrections.
Intraoperative flap related complications. These are the complications which may happen during the procedure of flap making ( step 1 ),
though with the usage of latest hi tech flap makers these are very rare. We at BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE use the most advanced femto laser ZEISS VISUMAX machine for BLADE FREE FLAPS and MORIA ONE USE PLUS MICROKERATOME for 90 microns flaps which have a track record of having least complications. ALL FLAP RELATED COMPLICATIONS ARE ABSENT WITH THE FLAPLESS …NO FLAP, BLADEFREE, SINGLE STEP, SINGLE LASER, THIRD GENERATION TECHNIQUE CALLED SMILE because there is no flap made here.
REGRESSION. It means when you refractive status slowly and gradually returns to your pre operative status ie your number slowly comes back to your original number. this happens very rarely.
RISK FACTORS FOR LASIK
There are certain risk factors which may aggravate the risks and may lead to an unfavourable outcome
Systemic conditions like autoimmune disorders such as SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, PAN etc.
chronic dry eye disease
Fluctuations in vision or recent changes in vision due to long term drugs, pregnancy, hormonal changes, breast feeding etc
Patients on immunosuppressive drugs or with weak immune system like HIV etc
Certain eye conditions like inflammatory conditions of cornea, lid margin abnormalities, viral eye diseases like
herpetic eye disease, uveitis etc
Best Surgeon For You
Many patients have confusion in their minds as to how to find the right doctor. Following points are worth considering while finding the right surgeon for LASIK:
Always compare the procedure and instrumentation used by the surgeon.
The experience of the surgeons should also be taken into consideration.
Cost should not be the only deciding factor as it is the quality of surgery that would be with you throughout the rest of your life.
Don’t get fooled by ambiguous advertisements.
Discuss the doctor regarding the procedures and the expected outcome. A genuine doctor will provide you with real outcomes.
Make sure to find the best doctor as minor glitches during the surgery may lead to unfavourable outcome.

100 percent BLADEFREE LASIK using ZIESS VISUMAX FS 500
Tag = Lasik after 40, Lasik treatment In Pitampura, Lasik treatment Cost In Pitampura
BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE is committed towards providing and maintaining highest standards of quality and safety for its patients. We take pride in saying that BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE is NABH accredited which means it strictly maintains the highest national standards for patient quality and safety .Technology plays a great role in achieving both of these.
BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE is the first centre in the whole of NORTH and EAST Delhi to install the ZEISS VISUMAX femtosecond laser system for 100 % bladefree / bladeless lasik.
What Is Blade Free Lasik ?
BLADE FREE LASIK as it suggests does not involve any kind of blade in lasik laser procedures making the procedure more precise, accurate, safe and more comfortable to the patient.
Any lasik procedure consists of two steps :
In the first step a corneal flap is created and in blade free lasik this is done by utilizing a femtosecond laser instead of a blade or microkeratome(blade like computerized equipment) to create a flap as in conventional lasik .
In the second step another laser called an EXCIMER laser is directed to the layers beneath the flap to alter the shape of the cornea according to the patients requirement .
At BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE in the first step …VISUMAX (CARL ZEISS GERMANY ) FEMTO SECOND LASER is used and in the second step MEL 80 excimer laser is used. Both the equipments are manufactured by CARL ZEISS GERMANY who are the world renowned leaders in development of optical systems and opto electronics thus giving precision and the highest quality standards to the procedure.
Why Visumax Femtosecond Laser ?
100 % BLADELESS FLAPS WITH VISUMAX : Creating a flap with VISUMAX is a completely bladeless procedure . During treatment the laser energy thus delivered in the form of an accurately focused laser beam moves through the 8 mm treated area creating self disappearing very small bubbles at a desired plane thus creating a flap , which is very easily lifted by the surgeon .
We at BAJAJ EYE CARE CENTRE create very thin flaps to the tune of 90 to 100 microns thus offering 100 % thin flap BLADE FREE LASIK .
VISUMAX 500 DELIVERS MORE PRECISE AND LESS ENERGY : The laser energy settings in VISUMAX are like that it operates at a several times lesser energy than other femtosecond lasers giving the machine a key factor in treating the delicate corneal tissues .
HIGH PRECISION OPTICAL QUALITYOF ZEISS PRODUCTS –VISUMAX500 : The high precision optics deliver an extremely focused femtosecond laser beam at the desired plane to create a corneal flap leaving the peripheral surrounding area untouched thus delivering more accurate , precise and gentle flaps than any other femtosecond laser brand technology
The CURVED CONTACT GLASS of ZEISS VISUMAX FS LASER : During the procedure a contact glass is apposed to the patients corneal surface to create a flap .
VISUMAX is the only femtosecond laser to utilize a curved contact surface to enhance patient comfort . Since the human cornea is a curved surface this technology allows a more natural and comfortable fit , which can be even further customized according to the size and shape of the patients eye . This results in a less pressure build up and sensation on the eye during the procedure , allowing the patient to retain vision throughout the procedure unlike withother FS lasers where your vision is blacked out for approximately 30 seconds, where patients become highly uncomfortable.
SHORTER DURATION OF TREATMENT : VISUMAX utilizes / delivers laser at a pulse frequency of 500 Hz thus shortening the treatment time in flap creation than FS lasers . It takes only 15 to 20 seconds per eye to create a create flap making it a highly efficient laser .
PRECISE VISUAL CONTROL OF ALL STEPS : Zeiss surgical microscopes are known for its high optical quality ,required for the precise visual control . It also has an integrated video camera to record the procedure .
COMFORTABLE BED : Lying comfortably is extremely important to restrict patients movement during the procedure . VISUMAX allows a constant monitoring of the patients position to maintain a perfect alignment of the eye to the laser system .
Advantages Of Bladefree Lasik With Visumax :
PREDICTABILITY AND PRECISION : Flaps made with VISUMAX femtosecond laser are very precise and predictable ie the control over the dimensions and thickness of the flaps made is much better .
THIN FLAPS MADE EASY : VISUMAX femtosecond laser can create very thin flaps upto 80 microns easily . The thinner flaps made have an advantage in leaving behind a thicker corneal base for better functioning cornea .
BETTER CORNEAL STRENGTH : The more the residual corneal bed the better is the biomechanical stability of the cornea , ie lesser chances of a possible post operative complication called corneal ectasia .
FASTER VISUAL RECOVERY : Visual recovery is fast with thin flaps made on VISUMAX femtosecond laser.
MINIMAL FLAP RELATED COMPLICATIONS : Flap related complications are almost negligible with bladefreelasik done by VISUMAX FS laser .
LESS INDUCTION OF HIGHER ORDER ABBERATIONS : Thin flaps made by VISUMAX cause lesser incidence of glare and haloes due to fewer induced higher order abberations.
LESSER INDUCED DRYNESS OF EYES : The very thin ( 80 to 90 microns ) flaps created by VISUMAX FS laser result in lesser incidence of dry eyes .
VISUMAX FS laser has an ability to treat thinner corneas by making thinner flaps and thus higher degrees of myopia can be treated .
BETTER POST OPERATIVE QUALITY OF VISION : A combination of ZZEISS VISUMAX FS laser for creating a flap and ZEISS MEL 80 EXCIMER laser utilizing a wave front optimized ASPHERIC profile for carving the cornea gives an optimum quality post operative vision with a better contrast sensitivity .

What is LASIK eye surgery? Laser-assisted in situ keratomileuses or LASIK treatment has been the most common procedure to treat eye problems like myopia, hyperopia & astigmatism. Lasik surgery reshapes the cornea to enable light entering to focus on the retina, it is a pain-free procedure that takes less than 20 minutes for both eyes with minimal side effects. The results can be seen after 24 hours.
Anyone who is above the age of 18 can get LASIK eye surgery, before the surgery the doctor will determine if your eyes have anything unusual & if you’re a good candidate for eye surgery. During the procedure you’ll be given eye drops that will prevent any discomfort you might feel, you’ll be asked to look at the light so the laser could reshape your eye.
After the Lasik surgery is completed you’ll feel mild discomfort & a burning sensation in your eye, if you get some blurry vision don’t panic that’s what’s supposed to happen, after some time you’ll adjust to your eyes & can say bye to your specs forever.

It uses laser technology to reshape the cornea, the clear front part of the eye, to help the light entering the eye to be properly focused onto the retina, leading to clearer and sharper vision. LASIK Surgery in Delhi by Dr. Rajiv Bajaj - Precision & Safety
INTRODUCTION
LASIK Surgery in Delhi with Dr. Rajiv Bajaj offers precision, safety, and advanced care. Minimize risks with expert treatment. Book your consultation today!
LASIK Risks
A proper preoperative planning and workup helps preventing in overcorrections and under corrections.
Intraoperative flap related complications. These are the complications which may happen during the procedure of flap making ( step 1 ), though with the usage of latest hi tech flap makers these are very rare.
Extremely rarely the surgical complications may result in poor visual recovery.
Certain eye conditions like inflammatory conditions of cornea, lid margin abnormalities, viral eye diseases like herpetic eye disease, uveitis etc.
