Spider-Man Read-Through 057: Dazzler + Black Cat Always Lands On Her Feet (ASM 203-206)
MASTERPOST
Hey, today we're finishing up Marv Wolfman's run! I'll give my thoughts at the end.
There was supposed to be some Spectacular issues before this post, but I wanted to get on with it, so here we are.
Really cool cover, by the way.
Spidey thinks this lady's chased by Will O' The Wisps, but she faints when he rescues her. When she wakes up, she doesn't seem to know that name...
I don't know anything about Dazzler (except... she's a X-Men), but she seems really cool and original. She also gets away from him, good for her!
YES. THIS IS ALL I'M ASKING. Peter interacting with his friends half-dressed! I'm a simply guy.
Betty and Peter were never a thing recently though. Like, can we really say they "broke up" when... they... weren't together? They had a vague fling but that's it. And they're going to see Star Trek, that's nice!!! I'm almost at the ending of DS9 season 3. Haven't watched the other shows, and I'm very slow, but still, I enjoy it.
Meanwhile, Dazzler gets hit by her mysterious enemy... the Lightmaster! Back from SSM. OoOoOh, I'm scared.
The basic thing is, he needs light, and she produces light. It was only a matter of time! Their interactions blow up the nearby cinema, and Peter quickly becomes Spidey once again.
The fight is fun!
Well that sucks for her, because her power is really cool. I love that she gets energy from concerts.
Spidey saves Dazzler, but she's still hell-bent on eliminating him!
Nice panel!
He escapes her by webbing her eyes. A classic!
Oh I'm sure he'll get to a bottom alright.
We get a quick update on Aunt May: she's not dead, and she's even getting better! Crap.
Spidey surmises that Dazzler got possessed by the Lightmaster, but he's a dumbass.
He eventually saves her with that big machine, and when Dazzler asks how she can repay him, he says they'll figure something out.
Let's hope it's a concert ticket he's asking for. In the comments, people were quick to notice the innuendo (the line coupled with their immediate physical intimacy certainly implies *things*.)
Now, onto Black Cat's return in 204!
Our story starts with Black Cat, apparently alive (who doubted that?) and taking pictures of our favorite wall-crawler. Then she gets in a museum to steal a cute statue of a couple, but she's interrupted.
I love those kisses, it's ridiculous, but lovely. And that cat shadow!
Spidey arrives too, and the cat shadow gimmick continues!
I love it!
She escapes, and Peter ponders about how attractive she is. I'm ready for this couple! I'm ready!!!! Curious to see how it goes!
At the Bugle, Robbie's accepted to lead the newspaper in place of Jameson. He's become a changed man! Very irascible.
BUT WHO DO WE SEE AGAIN?!
RANDY!!!!! MY BOY!!!!! I MISSED YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meanwhile, at Felicia's place...
Oh, I love this. It's so silly, but so good!
At the Globe, Barney tries to push Peter and April closer. I'm not against April being less bitchy.
Later...
Felicia's not being very slick there, but it's comics, so whatever. That left panel of Peter changing, though? Very erotic.
I'm glad to see Flash and Sha Shan again... I don't remember Cissy, maybe she's in Spectacular. Sounds inconsequential either way. But this new date, Dawn Starr... Very 80s haircut right there. Not sure I'm a fan, BUT she immediately says she's into Peter, so you know.
Oh, but it gets better! She's a science major (another one!) and... she's one of Peter's students! I'm into that, I like the drama. Peter's not of the same mind, though. He's already got enough drama as is!
By the way, I'm not completely fond of this issue's colors... We'll see how it goes...
At the Guggenheim museum, Spidey and Black Cat have another fight.
Oh, she's a funny one for sure. The writing's becoming more horny, and I'm also here for it.
Once again, the Black Cat gets away, but with the statue this time! Oh, and we get news on Jonah! He's amnesiac now. "Jonas Harrow" says he's gonna help him, but he's got those terrifyingly goofy glasses that indicate he's not a nice guy.
Black Cat steals another thing (and is quite disappointed that she saw no resistance from the folks there), and we get a promise that the next issue will have a surprise ending. A kiss, a kiss!!!!
YES.
Marv Wolman's run is officially finished at this point! David Michelinie's a guest writer for 205, but his run will occur about five years later. Let's see how he fares here.
That's a really beautiful panel.
At Peter's workplace (the university!), he finds Dawn...
We got a kiss! I didn't expect him to go down that line, though. But I'm here for the messiness. I presume it won't last long...
Peter thinks things are looking up on him, but that's not exactly a sentiment I share.
Spidey and Black Cat have a little fight again, and she gets away again.
Later, at the Daily Globe, Peter meets Pamela Dean, society editor and possible new love interest? What is going on here?
Did Peter breaking up with MJ finally open his dating prospects?
There's a solid theme of love going around in these issues. Black Cat targets art about love, Pamela Dean wants to write a story about an artist who does romantic and erotic art... This feels like a new era.
Peter's convinced Black Cat's building a shrine to her father with those thieveries, and I think he's completely wrong about that. The likely actual person she loves is... well, Spider-Man, of course.
Love these panels.
At his office, Peter finds an intruder... and our dear miss Dawn is welcomed by none other than Spidey!
.
.
.
Iran? What the heck, Peter.
Oh, Peter... (He looks so cute when he's angsty.)
Hey, does anyone know if this area really exists? I'm curious. Ross Andru drew real buildings, so...
So Felicia's exchanging the art she stole for the Helen Epistle, a love letter to Paris from Helen of Troy.
Just kidding! She's actually stealing that one too.
Meanwhile, Peter has an appointment with Bellflower, the erotic art collector that Felicia just threatened. He seems busy, and Peter smells the ruse.
Do you know what else is jangling?
Anyway. BC and Spidey have another confrontation, BC escapes, but Spidey tracks her and is completely surprised to see he was wrong about Felicia's daddy issues.
I love her expresssion on the left!
... You know what, that's actually a solid ending, because at first, Peter didn't care about his responsibility (the Dawn kiss), but then he got the backlash from that (disappointment and betrayal), so here, he chose to do the right thing. That's good.
206 time! Roger Stern is here. He'll stay for a while. I've seen people say to skip the Wein and Wolfman issues, so I'm curious to see what Stern brought to the game.
Turns out Jonas Harrow, who also created Hammerhead, the Kangaroo and Will O' The Wisps in the first place, is the one who's been making Jonas mad. He used rays or something on Jonah's office, which explains why Robbie was irritated last issue!
I'm sure Jonah will be back to his old self anyway... but I kinda like how it ties up neatly this background arc that has been running for like, ten issues at this point. Neat! Didn't expect it either.
At the Bugle, Robbie and Marla discuss what to do regarding Jonah's disappearance, but Jonas Harrow doesn't like this and turns up his rays. They get in a fight, and when Peter intervenes, he pushes them away rather violently.
Ew.
The rays cause everyone to be angry, but Peter activates the fire alarm to make them evacuate the building. Smart!
He eventually finds and breaks the rays emitting gadget, and then Harrow dares him to fight him. When he sees Spidey, Jameson gets his memory back. Much more effective than Harrow's tentative treatment!
I love the middle panel, but this is also why I cannot bring myself to care about Jonas: he sucks.
So... Marv Wolfman. Definitely an improvement on Len Wein if you consider the entirety of their runs, as it's more consistently solid.
I did love the graduation issues, the relationship drama, but the May arc was annoying, although I can appreciate the ambition. I think my problem lies moreso with the corresponding Spectacular issues, but it wasn't Wolfman, so...
I just feel like Wolman's cast isn't coherent the way Stan Lee and Gerry Conway's were. Still, there was an attempt to emulate Lee and Ditko's style at some point. Jameson was faaaar too involved in all of that to my liking, but it was a bit original at least, compared to previous times. Some characters acted out of character too (Ned and Harry)...
It's not a perfect run, and I don't gel well with Wolfman, but it was alright. Good, even.
Welcome, Mister O'Neil. Show me what you've got!

What to read for peterxfelicia(i'm not sure if there's a ship name?) goodness for someone who's getting into it because of the current hunted storyline?
I never know what the ship names for anything are; I think PeterFelicia goes by PeterFel and SpiderCat, but don’t quote me on that one. For Peter and Felicia content, I’d go way back to Felicia’s first appearance to start with, and then follow along from there.
Amazing Spider-Man #194-195: At the tail end of his affair with married Betty Brant, Peter runs into the Black Cat, an enigmatic thief with whom he has an instant romantic connection, but the Black Cat has her own agenda.
Amazing Spider-Man #204-205: Felicia makes her reappearance in Peter’s life. Don’t pay too much attention to the ending of this one; it quickly gets overwritten.
Amazing Spider-Man #226-227: Felicia’s scheme from the previous story pays off, and she and Peter attend a costume party. Felicia attempts to quit her criminal ways to further her romance with Spider-Man, but it’s harder than she expects.
Spectacular Spider-Man #74-79: Peter tries to help his colleague, friend, and beleaguered love interest, Deb Whitman, only to end up surprised when Felicia crashes into his life once again. The two battle Doc Ock with disastrous results.
Spectacular Spider-Man #84-90: Felicia is released from the hospital and she and Peter continue their romance. In Spectacular Spider-Man #87, Peter unmasks to Felicia. Felicia, wanting to be Spider-Man’s partner in more ways than one, strikes a deal to get herself superpowers.
Spectacular Spider-Man #91: Felicia runs into Peter in his alien black suit for the first time.
Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #4: The B-Story, Cat and Mouse. Felicia goes on a wild goose chase when a carafe Peter gave her goes missing, and a friend expresses doubts about whether the relationship is good for her, which I think is an important bit of nuance – fans who don’t like PeterFel love to label Felicia as “bad” for Peter, and there is dysfunction in the early days, but I think it’s important to realize it more than goes both ways. (I love a complicated relationship.)
Amazing Spider-Man #256-258: Mary Jane reveals a secret to Peter, while Felicia has apprehensions about both Peter’s black suit and his civilian identity.
(It’s not a Felicia issue but I highly recommend reading Amazing Spider-Man #259 if you haven’t already – it’s the issue that reveals Mary Jane’s backstory and it’s perfect, completely throwing all of her previous actions into a new light.)
Spectacular Spider-Man #95-100: Cracks develop in the relationship as Felicia worries her new bad luck powers are harming Spider-Man, and as Peter begins to question Felicia’s morality. They break up at the end of #100. (Peter and Felicia also have a brief and tense conversation about Felicia’s new powers in Amazing Spider-Man #263 and a frosty interaction in ASM #266, which takes place before Spectacular Spider-Man #100.)
Spectacular Spider-Man #112: My very favorite Christmas issue. While a Santa-themed robber strikes around the city, Peter, Felicia, and Mary Jane ruminate on the holidays.
Spectacular Spider-Man #115-117: Peter’s attempts to get rid of Felicia’s bad luck power’s influence over him leads to her powers cutting out at the worst moment possible. Felicia’s new costume debuts in #117.
Spectacular Spider-Man #119: Felicia has a moment of introspection on her relationship with Peter.
Spectacular Spider-Man #123: Peter and Felicia seemingly reunite after Peter saves her after an explosion in her apartment.
Felicia has appearances in Amazing Spider-Man #288-289, which are part of the larger Gang War storyline, which takes place from Amazing Spider-Man #284-288. In ASM #289, which takes place after Spider-Man vs Wolverine (highly recommended), she presents Peter with some new costumes.
Spectacular Spider-Man #128-129: Felicia’s revealed to have double-crossed Peter up – or has she?
At this point in time, Felicia vanishes off the pages for a little bit. Peter and Mary Jane shortly get married, which Felicia only finds out when she returns to Peter’s old apartment, expecting to find him. In an attempt to get revenge on Peter, she starts dating his best friend, Flash Thompson – only to end up genuinely falling for him. I love Flash and Felicia’s relationship, and it’s genuinely really sweet, but some PeterFel highlights from this period: on the last page of Amazing Spider-Man #329, Flash shows up with Felicia at Peter and Mary Jane’s loft, and ASM #330 has a flashback to a double date dinner. In ASM #331, Felicia confronts Mary Jane about her marriage to Peter and reveals her plan to break Flash’s heart to hurt Peter. (I think it’s important to remember at this point in time that everyone here is in their early 20s and very dramatic.) In ASM #335, Flash tries to arrange a double date while Felicia canoodles with him in front of Peter. In ASM #341-343, Felicia twigs to the fact that Peter’s lost his powers, and the two team up again. In ASM #346, Felicia offers to help Peter with a supervillain, and in ASM #347, she says that even though she still has feelings for Peter, she’s now in love with Flash.
Web of Spider-Man #80: When Peter goes missing, Mary Jane asks Felicia to track him down.
Spectacular Spider-Man #204-206: Both Felicia and Peter attend the reading of Harry Osborn’s will following his death in Spectacular Spider-Man #200. When Flash is injured by Tombstone, Felicia becomes furious that Peter didn’t tell her. This isn’t a particularly romantic Peter and Felicia teamup, but I do feel it’s a good look at their dynamic post-romantic relationship.
Spider-Man Unlimited #11: The Spider-Man in this story is Peter’s clone, Ben, but on top of the Ben/Felicia flirting, there’s plenty of PeterFelicia background. A woman from Ben Reilly’s past has been murdered – and someone wants to put the blame on the Black Cat.
Peter Parker Annual 2000: The B Story (although the A Story features one of my favorite rare Marvel characters, Bounty). With Mary Jane currently presumed dead, Peter encounters Felicia one night.
Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do #1-6: Felicia Hardy’s asked to track down a missing friend, while Peter Parker hunts for the source of the mysterious drug-related death of one of his students. When these two events bring them back together, they team up to take down a threat who can give people a high – or kill them – without ever being in the same room. This one tends to be a “love it or hate it” series for people, especially considering it retcons Felicia’s backstory to include sexual assault as motivation for becoming the Black Cat, but there is an awful lot of Peter/Felicia content in it. Warning that rape is a major theme in the story.
Marvel Knights Spider-Man #1-12: Aunt May is kidnapped, and Peter’s on a race around the clock to save her before time runs out. Felicia’s the first person he calls for help. Feilcia takes a few issues to become a major part of this story, but it’s all one big arc, and she has a huge part in it, especially in the ending. Also features Peter and Felicia both calling each other “baby” when they’re not in a romantic relationship.
Spider-Man Unlimited (2004) #14: A Story. Felicia enlists Peter help to break into the Latverian Embassy.
Amazing Spider-Man #606-607: Post-Brand New Day, the link between Peter Parker and Spider-Man has been erased from the minds of almost everyone, including the ones who knew him best – like Felicia Hardy. It doesn’t stop them from teaming up – or hooking up.
The Many Loves of Spider-Man: A oneshot collecting several different stories about the women in Peter’s life. The Black Cat one is very cute.
Web of Spider-Man (2009) #11-12: When Spider-Man goes missing, Mary Jane contacts Felicia Hardy to find him.
After this we hit Superior Spider-Man and things get not good for a while, which you’re probably familiar with if you’re getting into them through the current ASM run, where Peter’s finally re-unmasked to Felicia and restored her memories. But that should bring you up to date!
Some other continuity PeterFelicia recs:
Spider-Man Noir & Spider-Man Noir: Eyes Without a Face: Four issues each, Spider-Man Noir takes place during the Great Depression. The nephew of socialist rabble rousers, Peter Parker is an angry young man taken under the wing of Ben Urich, Bugle Reporter, when he’s bitten by a mysterious spider. Felicia Hardy owns a speakeasy, the Black Cat, and knows all about the criminal underworld. Felicia first appears in Spider-Man Noir, but the romance doesn’t kick off until Eyes Without a Face. If you liked Noir Peter in Into the Spider-Verse, I recommend his comics.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist: While Felicia has a quest in the main game, she makes an appearance during The Heist, the first DLC from the PS4 Spider-Man game. When Felicia starts stealing drives belonging to a major crime family, she claims she needs to complete the heist to save her son -- leaving Peter to wonder if the child is his.
If you don’t have the time/cash/inclination to play the game but still want to see the PeterFelicia scenes, this video has all the Black Cat stakeout missions from the main game, and this hour long video basically has the entirety of The Heist.

SEMICONDUCTOR ASSEMBLY & TESTING SERVICES MARKET ANALYSIS
Semiconductor Assembly and Testing Services Market, By Service (Assembly & Packaging Services and Testing Services), By Packaging Solutions (Copper Wire and Gold Wire Bonding, Copper Clip, Flip Chip, Wafer Level Packaging and TSV), By Application (Communication, Computing & Networking, Consumer Electronics, Industrial and Automotive Electronics), and by Region (North America, Latin America, Europe, APAC and MEA) - Size, Share, Outlook, and Opportunity Analysis, 2019 - 2027
Market Insight- Global Semiconductor Assembly and Testing Services Market
Market Overview
Semiconductors are special type of material that have value conductivity between a conductor and an insulator. Contrary to metals, a semiconductor material’s resistance falls as its temperature increases. Semiconductor industry is highly volatile in nature. Major companies emphasize designing and utilization of their expertise to enhance performance of ICs or chipsets. Hence, most of the semiconductor assembly, packaging, and testing related services are outsourced by fabless companies to third party providers also called Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test Service Provider.
The global semiconductor assembly and testing services market was valued for US$ 35,772.8 Mn in 2019.
Market Dynamics- Drivers
Increasing demand for mobility and connectivity in consumer electronic products is expected to drive growth of the global semiconductor assembly and testing services market during the forecast period
Growing requirement for connected and mobile devices namely tablets and smartphones has increased the demand for high-end packaging techniques. Furthermore, increasing demand for digital content has supported growth of home electronic products such as Wi-Fi chipsets and other semiconductor chips. For instance, in 2014, STATS chipPAC (JCET) launched encapsulated Wafer Level Chip Scale Package (eWLCSP) that provides augmented quality and a lower cost fan-in wafer level package for space constrained mobile devices. Moreover, increasing mobility and connectivity capabilities and growing digital content is expected to boost the global semiconductor assembly and testing services market growth during the forecast period.
Additional features offered by SATS providers over in-house testing and packaging capabilities are expected to propel the global semiconductor assembly and testing services market growth over the forecast period
SATS providers have extended capabilities of offering additional features namely miniaturization, additional functionality, low power consumption, and improved thermal and electrical performance. This aids OSTAS providers to gain competitive advantage over Integrated Design Manufacturers (IDM) in-house testing capabilities. Moreover, increase in the semiconductor content within electronic products is expected provide better functionality and higher levels of performance. Hence, these factors are expected to support the global semiconductor assembly and testing services market growth in the near future.
Asia-Pacific region dominated the global 68.8% market in 2019, followed by North America, Europe and Middle East and Africa and Latin America, respectively.

Market Dynamics- Restraints
Constant fluctuations in exchange rates is expected to hinder the global semiconductor assembly and testing services market growth during the forecast period
Since SATS providers offer services in all parts of the world, it makes the vulnerable to volatility of various currencies. As a result of this, their consolidated business results and financial condition including the sales volume in foreign currencies, materials costs in foreign currencies, and production costs at overseas manufacturing sites, are influenced if exchange rates change significantly. For instance, due to fluctuations in exchange rates (US$/NT$), Amkor Technologies recorded net foreign exchange losses of NT$ 276.2 Mn (US$ 8.46 Mn), and NT$1,222.0 Mn (US$37.43 Mn) (1 US$ = 32.64 NT$) in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
High capital investment for high-end packaging solutions is expected to restrain growth of the global semiconductor assembly and testing services market over the forecast period
High-end semiconductor packaging and testing businesses require high capital investment for producing expensive equipment manufactured by a limited number of suppliers. Increasing demand for miniaturization and low thermal ratings have mandated adoption of advanced packaging solutions. However, as the capital required for offering these solutions is high, only few players are able to provide these services, thereby restraining the market growth.
Market Opportunities
Investments in advanced packaging solution to pose lucrative business opportunities
SATS providers are focused on increasing capacity utilization rates by expanding existing capabilities. Leading SATS providers are leveraging advanced packaging and test capabilities to create reasonably quick returns on investments made consumers seeking leading edge technologies. These organizations are also focused on advanced packaging technologies as well as a second wave of consumers who still prefer conventional packaging technologies, in order to fulfil capacity in case leading edge customers transition to newer packaging and test equipment and platforms. For instance, in 2013 and 2014, STATchiPAC Inc. invested US$ 46.4 Mn and US$ 39.2 Mn respectively in R&D activities for improving its packaging solutions. This aided the company to increase its revenue from advanced packaging solutions by 1% from 2013, to account for 47.9% in 2014.
High capacity utilization rates is expected to present lucrative business opportunities
SATS providers are focused on increasing capacity utilization rates by expanding existing capabilities. Any fluctuation in capacity utilization rates can significantly affect gross margins since the cost per unit usually decreases as fixed costs are distributed over a larger number of units. For instance, in November 2013, CORWIL Technology Corporation expanded its wafer thinning services by adding a Disco DAG 810 automatic grinder. It enhanced the company’s offerings by providing 300 mm wafer backgrinding to its current thinning core capabilities.

Market Trends
Growing focus on mergers and acquisitions
Key companies in the market are focused on mergers and acquisitions, in order to gain competitive advantage in the market. For instance, in July 2015, GLOBALFOUNDRIES Inc. acquired IBM’s ‘Microelectronics’ business, which strengthened the company’s workforce by adding experience and expertise in semiconductor development, device expertise, design, and manufacturing. Furthermore, in March 2014, CORWIL Technology Corporation acquired the assets of VIKO Test Labs, a section of Infiniti Solutions. The addition of electrical, environmental, and mechanical test services enhanced CORWIL‘s market position as a provider for both assembly and testing services in the U.S.

“Ecco quel preti stroppiu:crazia ca li dumanda,
In altro manoscritto ottocentesco, attribuito in parte all’ Arciprete Luigi Spagnolo, si legge:

Infectious Disease Diagnostics Market Demands and Gross Margin 2026
Infectious diseases are caused by organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites and are capable of transmission from one species to another species. Diagnosis of these diseases involves identifying the pathogen and its type and the degree up to which the infection has spread. Infectious diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and Influenza are highly prevalent and can be efficiently diagnosed with the help of diagnostic tests available for the respective diseases.
Technologies utilized by these diagnostic tests are classified into biochemical techniques, molecular techniques, immunodiagnostics, and conventional culturing, and staining techniques. Biochemical techniques include ELISA, agglutination, and others, while molecular techniques include Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Next-Generation Sequencing techniques. These tests are capable of diagnosing the infectious diseases accurately with high throughput capacity.
Advances in molecular testing techniques have resulted in fast diagnosis of infectious diseases in real-time due to which patients can receive treatment early. Commercially available diagnostic tests include BD Max Smart Cycler, GeneXpert, BD Phoenix CPO detect test, Xpert Xpress Strep A, and BioPlex 2200 Syphilis Total & RPR Assay.
Partnerships and collaborations by market players to develop novel diagnostic techniques is expected to boost growth of the infectious disease diagnostics market
Individual organizations, manufacturers, and research institutes are forming partnerships, and collaborations to advance research and development of diagnostic tests for infectious diseases. Moreover, funding by individual organizations to advance research is expected to boost the growth of the market over the forecast period. For instance, the University of Virginia’s Global Infectious Diseases Institute funded seven projects designed to tackle challenging problems in infectious diseases worldwide in July 2018. They have formed collaborative teams across diverse academic disciplines to control and treat Zika virus infections and to reduce tuberculosis rates among HIV-infected patients in Africa.
The New York Governor’s Office announced a research collaboration with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to advance the diagnosis and treatment of tick-borne diseases in June 2018. Moreover, Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and American Society for Microbiology (ASM) released a guide in July 2018, which is expected to help healthcare providers to understand latest technology trends, and knowledge on when to order which test. These factors are expected to affect the growth of infectious disease diagnostic market over the forecast period.
