A long time ago, when Snow White's mother was dying, the child was offered the opportunity to spare her mother's life. As you know, Bae, all magic comes with a price and in this case, the price was the life of another. She refused. The magical item that would allow such an exchange came into my possession some time ago. This time, Snow White used it to offer Cora's life in exchange for my own.

A heavy price indeed, Bae, and not one she undertook lightly. In the end, she made the pragmatic choice, and while I'm certainly not sorry she did, I can appreciate how that choice now weighs heavily upon her.

What I was about at the time was far too important for me to take time out for vengeance. I knew that in the fullness of years, the opportunity would present itself and until then? Well, I'd spent close to two centuries arranging for a way to come to this land. Patience is something I've learned.

That's difficult to say, but I believe there's room for hope.

It's rare that someone gets the better end of a deal with me. I've a great deal of respect and admiration for anyone who does.

Who has been your favorite person to deal with and why?

Sheriff Swan. It's rather refreshing to deal with someone who refuses to be intimidated. Irritating at times, and I can't say I relished my journey in the back of her squad car. All the same, I must say I'm looking forward to locking horns with her again.

Why did you spare Killian Jones's life, but decided to take Milah's life instead?

Sometimes, dearie, I ask myself that same question. I could say I chose to be merciful at the last to the one who didn't abandon a boy to grow up motherless. I could say that I spared a woman I once loved the torture of seeing her paramour die. And that I kept them both, albeit temporarily, from eternal reunion in the realms of the dead.

Or, perhaps, in my temper, I wasn't thinking matters through clearly. Every now and again, I do indulge my whims.
