with a delighted sound, the creature snatches up one of the candied apples and proceeds to sniff it up and down in a manner most unsettling. she takes a bite, chews it thoughtfully, and promptly spits out the worm from labyrinth. there is a moment - nay, an instant - where you fear her reaction..........

but your worry is for naught! she gasps with glee, taking another gargantuan bite from her apple.

"a trick AND a treat??? for me?!" the creature beams. "AH!!! this kindness must be rewarded, on this - the night of mischief, mayhem, and marshmallows with little icing eyeballs that make them...you know...sort of look...i mean, when you put the dots on, they sort of look like...ghosts? if you get the big marshmallows i mean, not the little ones. i guess those would still look like ghosts? but really small ghosts. like...the ghosts of...what's that size, uh...shoot. let me just..."

you realize somewhere around the five-minute mark of her muttering to herself that she has probably forgotten you're there. politely, you clear your throat, and she snaps back to attention.

"OH! right! yes! here, hold out your hands!!!"

nothing about that makes you feel safe in any way, shape, or form, but...since it's halloween...you do as she says.

you look down to see you've been gifted...

oh god.

maybe she didn't appreciate the worm from labyrinth after all. you grimace, feeling the worms squirm in your hands, and before you can do so much as blink, she claps her hands together and shouts what you HOPE are magic words: "SHIA KAZEE!!!!!"

a cloud of sweet-smelling smoke envelops you, making you cough. you stick your tongue out and the air tastes of...s...strawberry??? is she...is she vaping at you?!

you look down at your hands again and are SHOCKED to find the earthworms are gone, replaced instead by a worm of another sort.

"delightful - DELIGHTFUL!" the creature grins, taking the rest of your apples before waving you off. you can't be sure, but as she disappears, you feel like...you feel like you hear her explaining the plot of the 2015 playstation exclusive until dawn to the labyrinth worm?

you get out of there as fast as your feet will carry you.
