The Basics of Building a Skincare Routine: A Step-by-Step Guide
Building askincare routine that is easy to followand effective can be a daunting task for anyone. With the abundant products, ingredients, advice, and brands available in the market right now, wrapping your head around the concept can be really hard, but it doesn’t have to be.
With the right products that address all your concerns, you can easily craft a routine that is unique to your skin. Picking products that suit your skin and religiously sticking to that routine is a sure-footed way to get the skin of your dreams. Remember, consistency is key.
Sticking to a skincare routine can be challenging, but the trick lies in creating a plan that is easy and utilizes products that address multiple concerns at the same time.
THE BASICS
There are certain elements of a skincare routine that are non-negotiable – the basic building blocks of a skincare routine are Cleanser, Toner, Serum, and Moisturiser – CTSM.A set of these four elements is all you need to address most skin concerns and ensure healthy, clean skin.
The biggest determining factor in picking what Cleanser, Toner, Serum, or Moisturiser to use is your particular Skin Type. The different skin types are categorized according to how much sebum your skin produces and how sensitive it is to strong ingredients. The main skin types are – Dry, Oily, Normal, Combination, and Sensitive.
Certain ingredients can be particularly irritating to certain skin types. For example, Salicylic Acid is incredible for treating acne-prone and oily skin, but it is not usually the best choice for dry or sensitive skin types.
Cleanser
The first and most essential step in any skincare routine is to cleanse the surface of the skin and remove all the dirt particles, sweat, and bacteria that accumulate over the course of the day.
Cleansing the skin prevents dirt from getting clogged in the pores and causing acne flare-ups and allows other products that are applied to penetrate deeper into the skin and work more effectively.
Toner
The second step ofbasic skincare, toner removes any dirt that might have been missed during cleansing and helps balance the pH levels of the skin. A toner refreshes the surface of the skin and removes any residue from cleansing, preparing the pores to absorb the product better. Some toners are specially formulated to provide an extra layer of hydration.
Many toners, however, may contain alcohol or other harsh ingredients that can strip away the moisture of the skin, so beware of alcohol-based toners.
Serum
A serum works to addressspecific skin issues of the skin, nourishes the skin, and works on improving the skin's overall texture. A serum contains a higher concentration ofactivesthan a moisturizer and targets problems like dehydration, aging, and hyperpigmentation.  Actives like Niacinamide, Bakuchiol, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C, are some popular ingredients present in serums that help ease these problems.
When selecting a serum, it is best to start with a lower concentration of actives, to avoid any reactions. Patch testing the product for 24 hours on another part of the body before applying it to the face is also advisable, since the skin on the face is thinner and more sensitive compared to the rest of the body.
Moisturiser
A moisturiser helps the skin retain moisture, and eliminate dryness. It acts as a barrier that prevents water loss and locks in all the moisture and other products into the skin. Moisturiser is typically the thickest texture that goes onto the skin and may serve as a treatment for skin conditions according to its formulation.
THE ROUTINE
Cleanse your face with water and a cleanser, to remove any makeup or dirt from the face.
Pat dry and follow it up with a toner.
Apply Serum to your face and neck, and gently massage it in.
Once the serum has sunk into the skin, follow it up with a Face Moisturizer and blend in until fully absorbed.

Ten Weight Loss Hacks
1. Develop a healthy living mindset
Weight management is more a healthy living mind-set rather than a weight-loss one. Get into healthy living habits try not to focus on how much weight you are losing. Focus instead on getting enough exercise and eating the right foods. Healthy living also means living well and looking after your mental well-being. Unless you are in the right head-space you will not be in the right frame of mind to make the right choices as far as what you eat.
