Takuma slouched back into the couch, eyes sharp and tracking Akari’s every move as she leaned forward, focused, fingers dancing over the controller.  The same hands that often drive him to danger and back to safety. The same hands that sometimes touch his, sending sparks along his skin.

She's good, annoyingly good and she’s winning again. Her avatar, some fierce warrior or otherworldly creature - he can’t even remember what it is now - dances across the screen, delivering the final blow to his own character. The victory screen flashes, loud and triumphant, and he watches as she leans back, a small, satisfied smile curling her lips.

“You’re really dragging my ass tonight, huh?” he mutters, more amused than annoyed. She’s already teasing him, something quick and sharp in that easy way she always does - he always lets her, even when he mock-complains, he delights in the banter of the interaction. 

His phone buzzes against his thigh. He pulls it out, glancing at the screen - food’s here. He stands.

“Got us food,” he says as he gestures toward the door. “Hope that wasn’t too presumptuous. I—”

Takuma stops, his breath catching in his throat. The TV hums on, the music looping in the background, but it’s all white noise now, muffled by the sudden pounding of his heart. He turns to her, eyes wide, as a warmness spreads through him, slow and unstoppable. It starts in his chest, a flicker of something he’s too scared to name, and then it’s everywhere, radiating outward, a slow burn that he’s helpless to stop, an uncontrollable wave that leaves him dizzy, breathless. Is he blushing? Definitely. His lips twitch, and before he can think, before he can even decide what he should say, he’s smiling - a bit awkward and a bit shy ( she did catch him off guard after all), but deeply honest.

His phone phone buzzes in his hand - once, twice - but it hardly registers.

He swallows, nods, trying to gather his thoughts, to say something that might match the weight of her words. But there’s nothing, just the overwhelming need to be closer to her, to close the distance between them.

So he steps forward, his movements slow and deliberate, like he’s afraid he might break the moment if he’s not careful. His hands find her face, cupping her cheeks with gentleness. For a moment, he just holds her like that, like he’s trying to memorize the feel of her skin, the reality of her standing there, saying words that leave him feeling like he's floating.

“I love you too,” he finally says, the words coming out quiet, almost shy, but sure - and then he’s kissing her.

Who cries when they find out about the pregnancy: once it sunk in, he'd tear up for sure. he'd hold back and check in about how she's feeling before he was too expressive but he'd have a cute happy nervous energy about him. but after that? he'd probs just kiss her face all over, big golden retriever vibes - huge.

Who says it’s a boy and who says it’s a girl: see, i dont think he'd have a preference, he'd legit just be hyped about being a dad - however, i do think he'd be slightly more anxious about having a girl simply because he knows there's a lot he has to learn and he's up for it!! he just doesn't want to let his girls down

Who suggests ridiculous names: takuma's stance is 'if it sounds cool we should consider it'. like he wouldn't want to name his kid anything too ridiculous, but he would be fine with more uncommon names.

Who suggests using a family name: i think takuma would prefer they don't use a family name (unless it was important to akari).

Who says ‘veto’ to the most names: huh probably akari?

Who reads the most ‘What To Expect’ books:  listen, the second the pregnancy sunk in this man's social media feed would just be parenting influencers and bloggers and whatever. i don't think he'd overly stress himself, but he wants to do things right and he wants to learn and also he'd just be !!! so hyped about it that he'd want to see what others who have already been where he is are doing and how they dealt with things. legit his fav instagram account would be this one (the 'yo, you got one of these things?!' dad)

Who insists on having a ‘gender reveal’ party: i think he'd want to celebrate every lil thing including finding out if they're having a boy or a girl, but no big party needed.

Who thinks ‘Maybe a home birth is a good idea’:  takuma's opinion is that he's not the one pushing the kid out so he'll roll with whatever she's most comfortable with so long as there's people around who have the knowledge to assist her if necessary.

Who is in charge when it comes to decorating the nursery: BOTH OF THEM. they'd probably focus on dif things, but he'd be invested. he'd want something comfy but fun and... haha u think i wouldn't find images on pinterest for this? ofc did. here you go: one, two three, four, five, six. .

Who talks to the unborn baby the most: takuma talks to the belly all the time im being so serious. morning talks, back from work talks, good night talks, etc - i think he'd love to read stories to the belly. i have like a million hcs about this

Who suggests having sex to kick start labor: look. if she was down... he read somewhere... he's up for it if she is... like.. you know...

Who cries the most when the baby is born: exactly when the baby is born idk if he'd cry, but he would for sure cry when he saw akari holding the kid for the first time
