Matteo is an easygoing witty wanna-be-machismo who spends most of his time out and about or in his kitchen. He’s a man who’s been through a lot of hardship, and came out on the other side very stubborn and jaded. He is used to being second picked by people, and is surprised when people are loyal to him. While he can be rough to those he doesn’t know, once you’ve earned his trust, you can never get rid of him. He’ll stick by you until the bitter end. 

Despite people assuming he’s lazy he can be quite a hard worker, he just likes to take a lot of breaks and doesn’t subscribe to the idea of working himself to the bone, especially in this day and age where you don’t have to do as much to just get by. A life of hard farm work just to scrape by was what he grew up with, and he’d rather not have to work himself that hard ever again. 

He likes to take the world as it comes, stay close to the ones he cares about, cook delicious food, take naps and just see where the world is going next. The world is always changing and he can never seem to keep up- he doesn’t get hustle culture and the need to rush along and tends to focus on the here and now. Sitting on the old ruins for lunch, having a smoke at sunset, sailing on the Mediterranean- Just the little things.

I am not native Italian, nor am I a historical expert on any country. I am simply a fan who does a lot of cultural research. I'm open to critique in private messages, I always want to improve. Do not use me as a source, or expect me to be an expert, I am not even close.

This is a canon blog with Romano as the main center character, with others coming in as requested. You can ask questions to other nations, but this blog is Romano's first and foremost so keep that in mind.

This blog will contain asks being answered about Romano, his friends, his job and the general world as it is via Mythical Hetalia 2023 time period.

Historical asks can be requested, though as mentioned I cannot promise how detailed they will be.

I will try to answer asks with art and writing pieces as needed, but please forgive me if I cannot answer your ask with an art piece.

I would prefer if you kept modern political situations away from my blog, please. And of course behave nicely, no shitty behavior.

Asks, Interactions, and Role-play are open to anyone as long as it follows the above mentions.

Do you have any pet HC for the brothers?

Yes!

Feli: Feli has a white cat named Gino, who was originally a gift from Sadık in the 1400s (Sadık was trying to woo him, and it worked). He can be a little stupid, but he's generally very affectionate and very social with other humans. It's quite rare for him to run away from visitors. Feli sometimes calls him Panna Cotta (among a myriad of other nicknames, like bello, ciccino, cicciotello, tesorino-). He also wears a lot of cute collars, sometimes even matching with Feli's outfits if he ever takes Gino out and about.

Romano: This is actually one of my oldest Romano headcanons- this man has a rooster named Ugo, and he is the BANE of everyone's existence (except Roma's <3). He only just started tolerating Feli's presence, but every other nation is a threat that MUST be exterminated on sight. Except Seborga, he's quite protective of the guy.

Ugo has definitely committed several war crimes, but courts are too scared to convict him. So he remains free...

Sometimes, I give them other pets, but those two are the constants! For instance- sometimes I give Feli a very pathetic Italian Grayhound, and sometimes I give Romano a Mastine Napoletano named Carmine (headcanon courtesy of the lovely @cicerenella <3)
