thank you so much for keeping this blog active! it's great to have a place where it's easy to find so much concept art from so many different disney movies. do you have a favorite piece of concept art from your favorite movie?
Your message means a lot, especially since finding the motivation to keep this blog active gets less with every tumblr update.
To answer your question, while it's not my favorite movie, I love Eyvind Earle's concept art for Sleeping Beauty.

I feel the desire to let you know that I love your posts. I love when I come on here and you are still posting concept art and expanding my knowledge of artists and my appreciation for art. thank you
You have no idea how much this message means to me. My blog turned 10 this year and it absolutely blows my mind that I’m still here just as passionate about Disney art and animation as I was back then. But it’s sweet people like you that keep me motivated and never wish to stop. Thank you! ♥

What is your opinion on Disney being responsible for 80% of the 2019 box office?
Disappointed mostly. Especially considering it was all on sequels and remakes instead of new and original films. I don’t like what the Disney Company stands for today and that’s greed and capitalism but it doesn’t mean I can’t support the creative minds and effort behind their animated features which I enjoy above all else. Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios are what Disney is all about and as long as they keep taking the animation industry to new heights, I’ll always be there yearning to see what’s next.
#I’m looking forward to 3 upcoming Disney movies this year#thanks for the question anon#beautiful people who talk to me#ask scurviesdisneyblog

What got you interested in animation?
I grew up watching Disney’s renaissance movies and they were and still are undoubtedly the most brilliant in the history of animated features. But it wasn’t until I came across Glen Keane’s blog and saw his sketches of Ariel that I got a glimpse of the art behind the magic. Ever since then, it’s become my passion to find and share the beautiful and breathtaking work the animators and artists at Disney create to give us our favorite movies.
Just look at this! It absolutely takes your breath away!

What's a classic fairytale you think would be really good as a Disney adaptation?
This is definitely one of the best questions I was ever asked on here. I thought really hard about it and there is one story my mother used to tell about a girl who saves her 11 cursed brothers from an evil witch. I looked it up and it’s called The Wild Swans by Hans Christian Andersen. It’s very fitting for a classic Disney fairytale and if they adapt it into a 2D animated film I might cry.

why did disney cancel gigantic?
I don’t really know but the project has been shelved according to Walt Disney Animation Group president Ed Catmull. Here’s what he said: “It’s impossible to know when we begin a project how the creative process will unfold, and sometimes, no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it, we find that it just isn’t working. With Gigantic, we’ve come to that point, and although it’s a difficult decision, we are ending active development for now.” I believe it’s not uncommon for delays and revamps to occur during production, but it’s not often a film gets this far along in development only to be removed from the release calendar entirely.

I think my favourite concept art has to be Mary Blair’s for Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. Do you have a particular preference?
Mary Blair is amazing but if I had to choose I’d go with Eyvind Earle’s enchanting concept art for Sleeping Beauty. His unique and distinctive style is definitely my favorite.

Do you think Disney will try to create 2-d animated movies again? Maybe for a throwback to honour the golden years of Disney? Also
That would be amazing but unfortunately, I don’t believe it’s possible. Disney has been avoiding 2D animation ever since the release of The Princess And The Frog back in 2009 because (according to them) it failed commercially and wasn’t a huge box office hit like their following movies: Tangled, Wreck-it Ralph, Frozen, Zootopia, and now Moana which all happen to be 3D. Also, Disney shut down its hand-drawn animation division in 2013 and laid off some of their best animators. I personally prefer traditional animation as I grew up watching and loving Disney’s renaissance releases.
