I just hit 100 followers.

That is— wow, I- can’t remember the last time I hit such a milestone. This might- honestly be a first for me! And for that, I wanna give a thanks to everyone who was interested enough in my weird little ask blog to give me a follow. @bunnieswithknives Two of Us AU has me in a chokehold I swear. Could you imagine if David did keep his promise to Rowan but there still wasn't a happy ending?

David was only able to keep his promise with a lot of help from Rowan though. He was not allowed to have anything sharper than safety scissors and nothing heavy enough to be a blunt-force weapon. Rowan stuck close whenever possible so there was no opportunity. Rowan did have to tackle David on several occasions because someone angered him and he started chasing them.

Rowan encourages David to get to know his creations better, and actually spend time and bond with them. It takes some time but he does start at least be on neutral terms with the others, making repairs, adjustments, and customizations to them if necessary or requested. Warren now has a limit for how many times he can ask a month.

It takes a while but he accepts that while Lesley and Roy are 'parents' they aren't his parents. That doesn't mean they can't still be a family. Even if it is a weird one he clumped together with body parts, souls, and magic. And Rowan.

Rowan is starting to feel like a single dad. Not just taking care of the others, but how happy David looks when Rowan says he's proud of him. If only he didn't have to be proud of David for not doing very illegal stuff he shouldn't be doing in the first place.

A couple of years go by, things are going well for David and Rowan. Then a car comes to finish what was started with David's parents. Would be fun if it was their car that's been fixed up and passed around since the accident. All that time worried about getting inside cars but in the end, it didn't save him.

David wakes up scared and confused in the new body because he just died and the car, he's not sure which is worse. Rowan eventually comes looking for David because he hasn't seen the other in hours and sees the new edition. David clings to Rowan because he's something familiar and comforting while Rowan is shocked by the new addition.

Now could have Rowan realize it's David and what that means, or bring in even more pain. Rowan thinks David broke his promise and this is just another victim, them clinging to him because he's another person and they're afraid of David coming back. Rowan calls David's phone but he doesn't answer, Rowan yells at the voicemail that David broke his promise, and how could he break Rowan's trust like that?

Meanwhile, David is right there, listening to what Rowan is saying. He didn't, he would never. He knows what it looks like but did Rowan really think so little of him that he would go behind Rowan's back and… and…… what did he do again?

Rowan hangs up the phone and tries to comfort the now sad and confused-looking puppet. No matter what Rowan tried he couldn't seem to get them to talk or look at him. David must have really done a number on them.

It's not until Rowan gets a call hours later about identifying the body that the horrifying realization starts to set in.

It’s Christmas Day and I feel pressured to post something Christmas related so here’s some Two of Us AU Christmas headcannons!!

TW: very brief dead body mention

•David is fucking terrifying at Christmas time

•Well he’s terrifying all year round but specifically Christmas, he really likes Christmas

•He’s got those Dead Parent Funds™️ so he buys presents for practically everyone he knows, even the people he doesn’t like much, which is almost everyone

•The problem is he gives people very personal presents, like presents that he would only know they would want if he stalked them or something

•Like if three months before Christmas you lost a dvd of your favourite film and didn’t tell anyone about it because it was like a really embarrassing movie or something, somehow David would know and would get new a new one!!! Scary!!

•And sure people are happy to have David’s weird presents it’s like exactly what they wanted but it’s still absolutely horrifying, no one says anything about it tho since most people find David weird and generally avoid him anyways

•Red really doesn’t give a fuck about presents

•He doesn’t get people stuff unless he talks to them every day. and even then it won’t be anything memorable, probably just chocolate or biscuits

•The only remotely personal gift he’s got for someone who isn’t family is sewing gloves and little pin cushions for David because he kept using his hands as pin cushions and Red was really concerned

•Lesley and Roy always got David loads of presents: stupidly expensive toys that he had asked for, board games he’d never get to play because there was no one he could play them with and his parents didn’t want to, the usual only child stuff

•The two would get each other little stuff when David was really young but they stopped get presents for each other all together when their marriage got messy.

•Buuut then they died!! and their rotting corpses got stuffed into puppets! That changes a lot :))

•In the weird purgatory house Roy is the only person who get excited for Christmas minus the teacher who’s assigned to tell them about the holiday

•He can’t buy anything for Lesley since they’re stuck in the house so he makes her something homemade and she pretends to like it even though it’s just a hodgepodge of tape, paper and blood

•Lesley buys him something on the computer months in advance

•She finds wrapping gifts really difficult so she just stuffs it under her bed until Christmas and gives him whatever she bought on the day, sometimes she finds a box to put Roy’s presents in if he’s lucky

So, Lesley's somewhat of a better parent than Roy. But based on what we've seen so far... She's pretty fucked.

What has Roy done to be put on the bad parent list compared to Lesley?

Roy believed in making punishments related to whatever he was being punished for a better 'learning experience'

For example: if Roy asked David to clean his room and he refused, he would lock him in until he was done, even if he had to miss meals to do it, or if David broke something important to him he would get rid of something important to David. Some were worse than others, but Roy was strict on the fact that punishments wouldn't end until they were over, or until Lesley decided it was too far and forced him to stop.

⚠️ TW for character death ⚠️ Based on my Lesley is dead AU

Roy couldn't believe it. He just couldn't. It had to be some sort of messed up joke, a prank. He knew his Pa that well that he would do something like this to him.

He..he had to see it for himself. Even if he didn't want to believe it. 

The young boy ran down the dirt path through the darkening street, the small houses lining the way making it look almost claustrophobic as he hurried along. Her house wasn't far, he would be there soon. Lesley was fine, she was okay, she was alive- 

Red and blue flashing lights ahead almost made the small puppet stop in his tracks. 

His breathing came out in harsh heavy desperate gasps as he ran to reach them, his vision becoming blurry with welled up tears that stung his eyes. His chest burned and his legs ached but he didn't stop. 

The sight of many police vehicles and many yellow tape that surrounded the scene finally caused Roy to stop, nearly barreling into a few onlookers as they too surveyed the awful scene. Roy panted and stared, wide eyed as he took in his surroundings. He could see a few familiar people and puppets. Not too far away he spotted Lesley's mother and father, talking to a police officer. Her..her mother was crying as her dad held her. 

No, no it couldn't be true- please- 

The boy's wavering gaze fell upon the many police men that were about, before finally landing upon a white sheet that lay on the ground. Roy could feel his heart drop into his stomach, a horrible sickening feeling rising up and causing him to stumble back.

Was- was that her? 

Roy's legs buckled beneath him and he fell to the ground, tears finally falling down his face as he gasped for air. He didn't even care if people were looking at him now, he wasn't even aware where he was anymore. All he could see was his best friend's corpse lying there, her small body splotched with her life source, blood everywhere. Oh god it was everywhere- 

It was all his fault. It was ALL HIS FAULT. Why hadn't he asked if she could've came over, he could've walked with her. She had been all alone, she had gotten hit and it was all his fault. 

Roy let out a pained sob, burying his face into his hands. He didn't even realize an officer was above him, along with two other puppets as they tried to speak with him. Everything was so overwhelming, and he couldn't breathe. It felt like this was a nightmare.

Maybe that's what this was. Maybe he was just asleep and he'd wake up in his bed, and he'd eat the yummy pancakes his mum always made. Then he'd go out and play with Lesley, and she wouldn't be hurt. And then maybe he wouldn't have to feel this horrible...

He..

He hadn't even gotten to tell her how he felt.

His vision went temporarily black for a moment before Roy jolted, and he realized he had been moved somewhere else. He was still outside, but now he had a blanket wrapped around his shoulders, and he was now sitting in the back of an ambulance, his small legs dangling over the edge. His face was still wet and stained with tears, and he felt so sleepy. 

He had the distinct feeling that he shouldn't be here, but he felt too drowsy to understand why.

The blue and flashing lights of the police cars almost began to lull him to sleep until he heard a familiar voice call out his name from afar. Roy looked up, startled, and he saw his mother running over to him. 

"Roy! Oh, my baby boy, there you are-" Charlene hurried toward the ambulance as she embraced the small boy tightly in her arms. Roy immediately hugged her back, trembling in her hold as the tears that stung in his eyes still rushing back down his cheeks as he held his mom with all the strength he had left. 

"S-She's gone, mama," The little puppet wept heartbrokingly into the woman's shoulder. The pain was unbearable now. Everything hurt so, so much. "She's, s-she's gone, i-it's all m-my fault.." 

Charlene continued to hold the child in her arms, rocking him gently. She shook her head, tears also falling from her own face. "N-No, no baby, don't say that. It's not.." she shushed him softly as Roy sobbed helplessly. "Come on..you need to come home…you shouldn't be here." 

"All m-my fault..it's a-all my fault.." Roy felt himself be picked up, and he clung to his mother as he kept his face buried into her shoulder. Charlene carried him along, her heart breaking as he kept uttering those words to himself over and over like a broken tape.

Eurovision 2023: #12 & #11

12. ARMENIA Brunette - "Future lover" 14th place

Decade ranking: 37/116 [Above Stefan, below Systur]

Very tempted to just post this meme as justification for putting Brunette here.

Like, what is Brunette if not A Neat Lady? ? She working on herself, deciding to be good, do good, look good #TeamPretty for her future lover whom she wants to kiss her face, read books with and drink smoothies with at neat cafés - it's no "Why don't you make me dizzy with all your kisses *sad synth*", but it's cute and relatable for a libretto strung together from Pinterest posts lol <3. A Presence That Was Liked (--Gretchen Jones) if ever there was.

What really pushed "Future lover" higher up my ranking though was the live, and specifically the middle section. "Future lover" is not an easy song to get into, but Brunette made it work, specifically by knocking the rap break-

AND the following dance break-

Right out of the park! Princess was eating and her song was the buffet.

And honestly that's enough for a 12th place on my list. You know me, whenever we reach a new zone, we rank the competent people first since they're the ones I have the least opinion on. Brunette is good, i submit the live in Liverpool as evidence, I 'm sure we agree on that? "Future lover" was never more than a fun filler entry for me and I don't mean that disparagingly - every contest needs their also-rans and if the entries that pad out the numbers are good themselves, the contest usually becomes more enjoyable as a whole. Brunette was part of a strong streak that ran from Alika to Pasha, and she earned her spot, by delivering a strong and inspired live that was solidly good with no drawbacks. It's not something I'm passionate about, but "Future Lover" was top shelf Fun Finale Filler, and I wish the entries near the top of the scoreboard I put below Armenia had demonstrated the same level of quality.

11. ICELAND Diljá - "Power" 27th place

Decade ranking: 34/116 [Above Lesley Roy, below TBA]

For the purposes of ranking ESC, I like to clump together entries I have similar feelings for to pretend the chaotic wreck that is this blog as a minimum of consistency. In this case I've completely given up lol <3 Diljá and Brunette couldn't be less alike if they tried. Where Brunette was competent, dignified and professional, Diljá gave negative fucks about how she came across and how it affected her point total. <3

That isn't to say, I didn't enjoy "Power" for what it was because I did, a lot. Basic catchy Electropop by weird indie girls is my safe zone, and where I can fully unwind, calm down and be myself (I suppose that's the introvert equivalent to zoning out to a girlbop? You couldn't pay me to move to a Loco Loco or Slomo in public, although I like both of them). You can defo be sure that I loved "Power" for all its shortcomings and man was it flawed.

As noted pre-show the biggest threat to Diljá was Diljá herself. Now don't get me wrong - I LOVE her. I love her annoying foghorn-like personality that blasted through her rehearsal tiktoks. I love how she, when asked what the best Eurovision song of all times was, served cunt by naming herself. I love how she gave zero shits about something as trivial as qualifying, and just went all out enjoying herself via the medium of her untreated neurodivergence. And of course, most of all, I love that she completely engineered her own demise in the semi, for no reason other than that she felt like it:

Like, I'm pretty sure there's a decent chance "Power" could have qualified in that second semifinal. The target after all was Alika, who was an obvious traditional jury carry. But Diljá threw all that away when she magikarped herself to death on that turntable. 😍

She could have chosen any camera angles, and went for several ones where her back was turned to the audience.

In a sense, that was the most beautiful ending one could have imagined for Diljá's journey - a villain origin story turned flesh. Diljá would always be eliminated in the semis in any contest held acrpss the multiverses and it would always be through needless self-sabotage. 😍 AND SHE ALMOST QUALIFIED IN SPITE OF IT. REST IN P-P-P-POWER, my sweet anxiety princess.

[[ so over time, i've gotten ideas for the dhmis tv show teachers and so while i'm still trying to mentally flesh them out, i figure i should jot the ideas down to hold you guys over til i have something concrete!

i'll have em under this cut so it doesn't take up too much space:

briefcase guy

i'm thinking he'd be the cut-throat businessman type, the kind who absolutely does not care who he has to hurt, betray or manipulate to further his career. he wouldn't hesitate to scam people if he had to, so long as he fulfills his sales quota and gets his way. it'd also be plausible if he was greedy in that way and cut corners to keep as much money as possible. also, no matter how much brendon will ask him for connections to publishers or at least a little exposure for his novel, he flat out does not care and thinks writing or creating art isn't a "real job". he has no name yet, but if you guys have any suggestions, feel free to say, though i'd like it to start with a "b"

mortimer (coffin guy)

now i know i said in the past that it'd be interesting that he could be the embodiment of death, but i think it'd would make more sense in the logic of the show i've established that he was also created by lesley & roy. another thing about that detail would be that there would be a reason that he's under their thumb like the rest of the cast is. as for his personality, it's different from the actual show, similar to how the web series teachers were different people behind the scenes. he's serious and deadpan most of the time, and someone who likes a bit of dry humor and sarcasm. he's still a mortician, but as i'm writing this, i'm thinking i should add the little twist of him practicing some of his skills on the trio. nothing is personal about it, of course. to him, he's just trying to get better at his job. that, and he never does anything that would outright kill them: he cuts them open and looks at their organs in a mock autopsy, but makes sure they don't lose too much blood and makes sure that every organ is back in its proper place.

lily & todney

lily and todney are just as strange as they are in the show (besides the messing themselves part bc let's be real, i don't feel comfortable writing that even though it's played for laughs). they're really uncanny, similar to antonio, except it's much more obvious. they have little self-awareness and act kind of like a hivemind in some way. i feel like they'd be like those twins in that one scene in the shining, staring people down sometimes until asked what they want before finally speaking. like not speaking unless spoken to, but only when they're not teaching about family at that moment...then they don't shut up speaking of their family, they barely have any sentience and are basically barely-living props but the twins adore them anyway and somehow have a kind of telepathy with them like they do each other. the twins and their family are mostly reclusive and stick to themselves, like how they describe a family. they're co-dependent on each other and don't realize it because they haven't been "programmed" to. going on the programming bit, it's a deliberate decision on roy's part that their mother isn't there. it's to create that conflict and feeling of emptiness it gives them to want to fill that void by trying to make doi their pretend-mom. they know he's not really their mom, but to them, a pretend-mom is better than no mom because "a family isn't complete without one".

warren the "eagle"

warren is first one i got to having ideas about. his insecurity, loneliness and desperation for attention and to be liked is what really drives him to do what he does. like in his episode, he's clingy and ignorant of other people's feelings in favor of his own because all he knows is what he wants and how much he wants it. he has some level of awareness but he craves a real connection so badly that he's toxic in how he goes about it. he wants to impress people with things like his podcast and his "business sense" to the point where there's no room for other's wants or needs. the kicker is that he doesn't think any of this is what drives people away. whenever he loses a potential friend, he takes it very personally. to cope with how hurt he is over these lost connections, he convinces himself that he was just too good for them, as implied in his presentation. he has no self-worth, so he builds these lies and pretends he's a confident and accomplished person when he really isn't. as you might expect, antonio's already got plans for him. after all, insecure people frequently catch his interest

choo choo man (i forgot the name i had for him)

this poor man is a fossil. he's very forgetful and doesn't really know what he's doing half the time, basically like the stereotype of an old grandpa you see in movies. even antonio would make jokes about how old he is, as ironic as that is. he's not a nice person even to older people when he's not taking naps, you can find him listening to old timey-music or rambling a bit about his pre-programmed memories as a train conductor and how life was back then. although his thoughts get jumbled up sometimes, you can still get an idea of what he's trying to say. i feel like he'd have really good life advice if you read between the lines of what he's saying, and would generally be an easy-going person

first off, i imagine they're very passionate about music and playing the guitar! they'd probably be the type of person who feels like music is a part of who they are, and that's how they express themself. i feel like you could ask them to play any song that famously uses a guitar and they'd absolutely be SHREDDING that guitar with almost supernatural skill. mostly it's due to their passion, but i think their being an android would help with that as well i also feel like they'd be an outgoing and upbeat person whose positive energy is infectious, and if the trio wasn't desensitized, i think they'd actually look forward to their lessons. speaking of, i also think they'd really take an interest in electricity, how it works, how it came to be, what you can do with it, etc.. they'd think it's super awesome that it brings people all these possibilities and especially what it's done to advance technology when it comes to music

Tony: And we haven't seen them since.

Fredrick: We have found a few tape recordings and envelopes they left.

I like to image that there will be days where Lesley and Roy don’t have teachers for a while because David has to catch up on his schoolwork. So maybe in a rush, he just grabs a random hat and throws a bunch of string onto it. He stitches the eyes onto it and tosses it to Rowan asking if he can be the “substitute teacher” for a bit. Rowan is confused but tries to teach them something. He ends up showing them how to put on their own mini song/play. Eventually he does actually like showing up as a sub every now and then and he always does it in the red guy costume.

(I kinda wrote all of this out cause I think it would be funny if he had to wear the red guy fit a couple of times before he became the red guy.)

So as Lesley and Roy created a new David, how did everyone else react to this? Was it a long process for them accepting the new David or was it quite a quick one?

Everyone had different reactions.

Although David is still able to grow up and learn. He had the mind of a permanent 5 year old (atleast until he turned 15)

Redd felt uncomfortable. He was still processing his grief. He didn't really want anything to do with him. But he (David) didn't do anything wrong. He was still a child. So he tried hard to interact and love him. He was still his nephew (by association).

Robin was the one who came around quickly to the new david. But was hit the hardest (atleast with anger). He was so bitter and angry when he found out (not at dawn, the driver) he was actually the one who ended up Sueing the driver. (Colin helped organize the level documents, she didn't want Robin getting anything off the dark web and finding the man's home address-)

The only teachers that were around were Tony, Colin and sketch. (Before the machine)

They were so confused and lost with what happened. They tried asking Roy for clarification on what had happened-

But Roy was so lost in his mind and consumed by his grief at the loss of his youngest son. He ended up creating the machine and turning it into something malevolent and evil.

Lesley made sure to ration and make David and dawn WITH their battery compartments.

Dawn was hit hard with grief. He felt so guilty about the whole thing, he felt so unnerved and wrecked with so much bitter feelings. He ended up locking himself in his room.

It was the same david- they made an almost damn near perfect replica. But dawn couldn't help but see him as a reminder- so for a few months he wouldn't talk to him. He couldn't.

Luckily around the third month mark, dawn felt better enough to accept what had happened and accepted David as he was now.

It was a rather long process for everyone. But they came around.

The human side of David was gone and replaced with memories of the new one.

Everyone is okay now.

Everything is alright.

Are you less likely to reply to asks that attempt to 'meta-game' things, like asking the teachers things about stuff they wouldn't have known about?

Yes, asking a character something they don't/shouldn't know is likely to disqualify the ask. However, if it's not anything terribly important that would effect much, it might get answered. But like, if someone sends an ask about how God is real and her name is Lesley, I'm probably not going to answer that. Here, let me just take this opportunity make a list of things that can automatically disqualify an ask:

Telling characters about an event/plot point/whatever within the continuity from the blog that I deliberately keep said character ignorant about. Like before they all knew Roy was their boss, people would send in messages saying "hey guys Roy is your boss," and they'd get ignored 'cause I wanted them to find out on their own. Or messages telling Steve that Penny's into him get deleted because it's important for later that right now that he doesn't know that. Things such as that.

Related to above but somewhat distinct, people trying to godmod the story. Like in the "Colin Is Dead" arc that I regret, people would send things like "*fixes Colin*" in the middle of the arc. I know I'm slow as hell, but I'm not going to derail the story I'm poorly attempting to tell because of some anon, that's how I got into this mess in the first place. This is much less of a problem now due to completed stories getting released all at once, but can still be with plot stuff that carries between stories, but that applies more to the above point.

Asking "How is [character]?" will probably just never be answered simply 'cause it gives me nothing to work with. And those are like 90% of the questions I get. Same vibes as the "HOW ARE YOU? HOW IS YOUR CHILD?" bit in 'Jobs'.

Referring to DHMIS itself as a show to the characters, like referring to them literally as characters or mentioning specific episodes by starting an ask with something like "In episode 3" or "In the TV show." I like making fourth wall jokes sometimes, but I do have a couple standards.

I obviously don't expect everyone to know all these rules or where they even apply. People aren't always going to know what characters can and can't know about. Some of it is just my own internal rules, and it's no one's fault. But honestly, lately I've just not been good at answering questions at all. I get plenty of good asks I could probably work with, but just no fun answers come to mind. I think I just can't work or think as fast as I did when I was 20 and didn't script anything and didn't even do sketches, it was just shitty doodles off the top of my head. I don't want to say I'm phasing out asks or anything just yet, but I occasionally consider doing so. However, if someone's ask doesn't get answered, it might be one of the above problems or it's just 'cause I'm tired and busy.

Pet Headcannons:

Shrignold would have a cat. Specifically the fancy looking kind that may or may not judge you with it's owner

Larry would probably have like a lizard or hamster. Anything small, won't make much noise, and probably has a little head pattern that reminds him of shrig cause why not?

Warren has a Therapy Dog or that's smt he may not have then I think like a pet rock because he is afraid he would fail taking care of living animals...He still gets attached to the rock tho-

Paige? A colorful Budgie or Parrot.

Coffin would most likely have like a crow or a Black cat...It just sounds right

Tony would have a dog. The fluffy kind. Any size too because HE CAN AND WILL BABY IT.

Colin is gonna have a Fish maybe? I feel like he does not mind cats and/or digs but prefers to keep something easy to take care of and won't make a mess like leaving hair on him.

Briefcase would have a dog.

Train old man thing is the kinda guy who has a REALLY old big dog...Maybe as old as him

The food gang all takes care of a raccoon or pig. They like to keep them around and won't try and cook them because it EATS HEALTHY!

Electracy has one of those robot dogs. It just sounds right.

Time child has a moss pet. Those things can live REALLY long. It just makes sense for him. If it does not then maybe a chihuahua.
