I'm having a hard time reading the tone of this ask, anon, so I can't tell if this is an observation or if you're implying I am being unfair toward Hot Guy right now (/nm, i just struggle with tone), but I'm just going to engage with this as if it's an honest inquiry into my feelings about DDVAU Scar:

I have very mixed feelings about DDVAU Scar. Believe it or not this is me in question mark territory right now.

Scar undeniably used deeply manipulative tactics on Grian during the most recent chapter, to a point I find inexcusable (people can argue he's just doing his job, but i don't think doing a corrupt job well is an ennobling trait). I find it fascinating to analyze his coercive behavior and the inevitable trauma it will cause Grian.

I also feel like Scar is someone who has been coerced by the system as well and who, because of the unfair ways he's treated by the system he works under, has been manipulated into overcompensating, both in ways that put him in danger and in ways that actively harm other people. I feel a lot of sympathy for him because of this, despite his behavior. People can be both victims and perpetrators of systemic harm at the same time, and DDVAU Scar is a great example of this principal for me.

I wouldn't say I "hate" him, and in fact I'd really like to see him break free from the coercive working situation he's in and recover from the systemic harm he's experienced (and has been taught to perpetuate against other people), but at this point in time, when we just got a full chapter of him purposefully manipulating a vulnerable person, I don't feel the need to immediately excuse or forgive his behavior either.

(also admittedly it's hard to hate him because. he's scar. i am automatically primed to like scar in any incarnation.)

oh, there’s plenty of canadian country artists! canada has laws that say a certain amount of music played on our stations have to be canadian content, so there’s stuff that gets airplay here that wouldn’t in the states. Also, the entirety of Alberta comes to mind, but rural quebec and the ontario farmland area have huge amounts of ‘organic’ country music fans. And country music is essentially pop music atm, so it’s in the cities too.

It’s definitely different than in the states, and a lot of the top 40 country music is based off the american country genre, but Canadians have their own flavour too.

And don’t forget, the queen herself, Ms Shania Twain, is canadian!

I see their BBI counterparts as being close, but not being romantically involved nor having a QPR! They're just best friends who share a braincell.

From the tidbits of things I am planning, Simon starts out being very VERY hostile to everyone else, with the exceptions being Baba and Touille. Baba because he used to help her get food for the mini nightmares, Touille because they were both with the Prototype. Simon worked as the "guard" on Proto's side, per Proto's request in an attempt to make Simon deal with his anger in a healthier way. Crafty on the other hand used to be in Poppy's side until she was assumed dead. The two of them were friends because Crafty was the only person who could deal with his anger, and Simon protected Crafty from the people who thought she was too weird for her own good.

Like. To me Simon is all "I hate everyone in this house except you" @ Crafty, and then he gets better and is just "if anyone harms her I am going to throw a fit". Meanwhile Crafty is just "thanks for hearing my 4-hour infodump on the webcomic I want to make".
