[Revive a Sunnah] Fasting on Ashura (10th Of Muharram)

We are in Muharram, the 1st Month of the Hijri Calendar. The Prophet used to fast a lot in Muharram and especially the day of Ashurah which is the 10th day of Muharram. This year Ashurah will fall on Tuesday 16th July 2024. It is also recommended to fast the 9th Day of Muharram which is tomorrow Monday 15th July, 2024. (Dates may vary based on local moonsighting. 🔸• *Extract From The Statement of The Shaykh:*

The way of the Prophets and their true followers is that they thank Allāh for giving them victory through performance of acts of obedience and remembrance of Allāh.  However, they do not innovate anything in this affair because that was the way of the people of the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance. It is not permissible for a Muslim to exceed the limits in this affair.

On the authority of Ibn ‘Abbaas [رضي الله عنه] who was asked about the fast of the day of ‘Ashoorah, so he answered:

❝I do not know of the Messenger of Allaah [ﷺ] fasting a day, wanting the excellence of that fast above that of other days, nor any other month other than this month. i.e. Ramadaan.❞
