Alright so sensual attraction is a thing. We all can acknowledge that, look it up on Google, confirm it. Great. Why is horny the only word close enough to describe randomly remembering I'm sensually attracted to my girlfriend? I hate that. I've met a distressing number of people who are angry when I write the dirtybadwrongawful ship that I do because I don't write sex scenes for it. Including one self-proclaimed fandom old who turned a comment on it into a rant about how "kids who think they're too good for sex piss me off" and "the asexies are ruining fandom", because I guess they assumed that if I wasn't writing sex, I must be asexual? (Which doesn't make sense, since I know a lot of ace people 1. write sex 2. have sex and 3. get really angry if you write an ace character who doesn't have sex.) It got to the point where I just deleted my fics and abandoned that account, so I could avoid having to ever interact with anyone from that fandom. Being told I must be some puritanical anti who thought I was different from other antis because I wasn't writing sex scenes made me go, "Oh. So no matter what I do, people are going to be shitty. Fuck it, I'm out."

We need some kind of third category. Not anti, not proship because that entails writing sex scenes (or else you're asexual/an anti/the enemy), some kind of "people who let other people write what they want" category. Pro-writing, I guess. Is pro-writing a thing? Fandom was so fun when I was in middle school, just writing whatever I wanted and not getting shamed for the writing either being too problematic or not problematic enough. I wish I could go back to that.

It's weird stumbling upon a post from a terrible era of Tumblr and realizing people laugh at it because they do not know how it was and just think people are being stupid.

2016-2018 were fucking awful years to be asexual or aromantic on here, because some very prominent Tumblr users had decided that aspec people weren't queer, were taking resources away from the "real" queer community, and had discussion about cultural behaviors and expectations that made them uncomfortable to question. There was a monstrous wave of harassment, bad intention "jokes", suicide baiting in the aspec tags, ridicule of aspec culture... It was honestly traumatizing, and it killed the aspec community, it's something we just now talk about a bit more, but all our discussions, our jokes, our academic writing... It's pretty much gone. These jackass harmful behaviors still fucking hurt everyone to this day by the way, because that's where all the tentatives to do taxonomy on being queer stem from. As if the exact correspondence to words was of any fucking importance.

Notably, one of the thing that was going on was mocking the positivity posts and the tries to keep that culture here, and we all know how much Tumblr users love telling people that they are valid and their feelings are valid.

Thus here's what happened, on that fateful week of 2017 all of those above comments were made: op, who scrapped their old posts but clearly were somewhat involved in the infamous ace discourse on the "I don't think asexuals are queer" side, made this joking post. Maybe not with the aim to bully maybe they just genuinely thought of that fun pun like this ! But it still very much felt like a dogwhistle and that's what user 2, traumatized by a year of harassment, was trying to say. User 3, who was very much extremely aphobic and also a literal child in 2017, just jumped on the occasion to make another "asexy" look like they were being too dramatic and stupid.

In 2023, when you're not aware of this history (it is history ! This wave of online harassment soon translated into real life gatekeeping and many ace orgs simply vanished into thin air) all you see is someone doing a pun, the biggest most ridiculous over reaction you've ever seen in your life, and someone clever making fun of it, making you wonder if maybe asexuals aren't a bit childish and dramatic. And that's how dogwhistles work you absolute fucking disrespectful morons.

Clint always, but Laura circumstantially (post missions or when the kids are babies etc). He’s such a night owl though, especially in the beginning, he can’t sleep at all for the first few months of being with her. But you know when he does get to sleep he’s down for the count.

Laura for sure, she’s still in her 9-5 routine

Are they cuddlers:

god yeah, who needs a chair when you have a husband to sit on lmaooooo. Nah for real, they’re always cuddling, even if it’s just a casual arm over shoulders/around waists while standing, they can’t not be. Clint’s always off around the world doing superheroics, so they take all the physical comfort that they can

Who is the big spoon:

Clint for sure. Only way to keep Laura safe. Unless he’s flat out and she’s mischievous, then she’ll totally curl up against his back

Who is the little spoon:

Laura 100%, Clint refuses to acknowledge that he is the little spoon

What is their favourite sleeping position:

On their sides, generally facing each other. Clint will hold her hand in his sleep, and she’s always got her foot touching him, just to be sure he’s there.

Laura will die if she doesn’t wear bed socks, she can’t live without them. She usually sleeps in either actual pyjamas or one of Clint’s shirts. He wears a t-shirt and his boxers, and tmnt pyjama pants if it’s cold.

Clint adores seeing Laura in his clothes, he lives for the days she throws one on. But she also loves the rare occasion he’s late for work and pulls her T-shirt on by accident, though these days he doesn’t really fit in them, but he did in the 90s

Clint, certainly. Laura will stop talking when she wants to sleep, and refuse to answer, but Clint will just stop mid sentence and start snoring

They can’t, because of safety reasons. But once they’ve gone public you know Clint will have a photo of her and the kids on his background and show it to everyone

Laura. she thinks its cute. Clint struggles to read them so she doesn’t do it often, and she usually draws rude pictures
